00:00I'm here.
00:10Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the best video games of 2025.
00:18It's time for you to hit the road and start a new journey.
00:23Before we begin, we publish new content all week long,
00:26so be sure to subscribe and ring the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:32Number 10, Dispatch.
00:35Nice meeting you, Roy, even if it was while we were both holding our dicks.
00:40You one funny bugger, Mecha Man.
00:43With some of the creative minds behind Telltale's biggest releases,
00:47Ad Hoc Studio delivered another excellent adventure game in Dispatch.
00:52A workplace comedy set in a superhero world, we control a former hero now assigned to a desk job,
00:59dispatching other heroes to various crimes and catastrophes.
01:03Did you start that fire?
01:05The fire that's burning two blocks from where you're standing.
01:09The character writing and voice acting are both incredibly strong,
01:13and the cast of comedic and often heartfelt colleagues soar throughout each episode.
01:19You also feel the responsibility of handling a super team,
01:22making calculated choices while managing which heroes are best suited for each job.
01:27All this wrapped inside a delightful, comic-inspired art style.
01:32Dispatch gives you a charming world and set of characters you never want to leave.
01:37You ready to go home, bud?
01:38The first Kingdom Come was praised for its faithfulness and accurately depicting a medieval time period.
02:03Unsurprisingly, the developers went all in on these aspects for the sequel,
02:08and it is all extremely impressive.
02:10It picks back up on protagonist Henry during a time of warfare,
02:14fighting to help overthrow a usurper king, while being on his own personal quest for vengeance.
02:20Ah! Ah!
02:22There's nobody here! You're just imagining things!
02:25Ah, run!
02:27No!
02:28No!
02:29From smithing your own weapons to wielding them in battle,
02:32from gambling your time away to venturing into the impressively detailed open world,
02:37each aspect will pull at your interest and fight for your attention.
02:42For a rich, fulfilling, realistic RPG, you can't go wrong with Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
02:48Christ! Where did you learn to swim?
02:56Just now!
02:56Number 8, Blue Prince.
02:59The above provision and bequest is contingent on my aforementioned grand-nephew discovering the location of the 46th room of my 45-room estate.
03:12Blueprints is one of the most unique puzzle games we've played in years.
03:18It tasks players with making it to the final room of their recently inherited mansion,
03:22but with a roguelike twist, you only have a certain amount of movement,
03:26and you start over with rooms rearranged when that runs out.
03:30You have to think carefully about what room you want to go into next.
03:43All along the way, you'll be solving engaging brain teasers and piecing together mysteries,
03:48with some puzzles even connecting to others in different rooms.
03:52It's a great setup for those who love obsessing over conundrums,
03:57and the feeling of satisfaction when conquering them here is unmatched.
04:02Until the dawn of the following day, I will have nothing more to say.
04:10Number 7, Split Fiction.
04:16Okay, let's go!
04:17Haze Light Studios has made a name for itself by delivering incredibly fun co-op experiences,
04:28and its latest was another resounding success in that regard.
04:31Split Fiction follows two struggling writers as they become entangled in a simulation,
04:36playing through their own stories.
04:38Something bad is going on here.
04:39Yeah, like you're ruining my chance to get published.
04:43Oh, listen to me!
04:46What was that?
04:48Watch where you point those things!
04:49Whether partaking in the ridiculous whimsy of the fantasy-oriented Zoe,
04:54or fighting for your life and Mio's explosive sci-fi tales,
04:58Split Fiction is a non-stop joyride.
05:01Levels are wonderfully designed, moving at a perfect pace.
05:05The mechanics, different for each character, are finely tuned to work together when solving puzzles,
05:10navigating obstacles, and fighting bosses.
05:13And with just enough heart to get you invested in Mio and Zoe's personal lives,
05:18it's a rewarding multiplayer game on all fronts.
05:22Hands above your heads.
05:26What now?
05:27Just follow my lead.
05:30We're gonna fight our way through this.
05:32Number 6, Ghost of Yotei.
05:36We know how to block.
05:37That remains to be seen.
05:39Jubei, hit your sister.
05:41But not too hard.
05:46So we have been paying attention.
05:48With Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch gave us a terrific samurai game.
05:52Thankfully, Ghost of Yotei is every bit as good as its predecessor, with several appreciated improvements.
05:59We follow Atsu, who has returned home seeking vengeance 16 years after her family was killed.
06:09You should have stayed.
06:15The addition of multiple weapons as Atsu rips through the Yotei 6's forces was an excellent
06:20change to the original's combat, making every fight fun and varied.
06:25The world is also stunning.
06:27Packed with places to bask in nature, quiet breaks from the vicious forces wreaking havoc on the land.
06:34That's not to mention Atsu herself, played fantastically by Erika Ishii,
06:39a flawed hero that helps her revenge story stand out amongst others.
06:44My name is Atsu.
06:51Number 5, Death Stranding 2 on the beach.
06:56Seriously, why me?
06:58There are several reasons I thought of you for this job.
07:02Deadman, for one.
07:03He's currently working at a lab in southern Mexico.
07:07I don't know the details, but the research they're conducting there is important.
07:10And with impressive graphical fidelity and just the right amount of weirdness we've come to expect
07:17from Hideo Kojima, Death Stranding 2 is another huge win for the auteur.
07:23Sam Porter Bridge's struggle to keep humanity connected in a world ravaged by disaster and
07:28plagued by horrific creatures is one made with the utmost care.
07:32Death Stranding 2 on the beach.
07:38Strong performances and truly remarkable visuals bring every character to life.
07:43Gameplay is also hugely improved, to the point where any detractors of the first game owe it to
07:49themselves to try it out again here. As you connect more and more places and people together,
07:54there's a palpable sense of fulfillment, making Death Stranding 2 one of the more rewarding
07:59experiences of the year.
08:08Number 4. Hollow Knight Silksong
08:19Although it was a long wait, we can safely say it was worth it. Hollow Knight Silksong is just as
08:26visually engaging as the first, with a gorgeous hand-drawn art style and dense environments to tackle.
08:33And it's also one of the hardest games to release this past year, with those same beautiful environments
08:39holding all kinds of traps, enemies, and ferocious bosses.
08:43But honestly, this is the cream of the crop of the Metroidvania genre. It feels incredible to finally
08:59overcome every hulking boss encounter and escape each trap filled obstacle course. And it isn't just the
09:06level of difficulty that makes you feel such an achievement. With minor but noteworthy changes to
09:11gameplay, like the equippable tools, everything is as smooth as silk.
09:26Number 3. Donkey Kong Bonanza
09:29When it comes to games that make us feel pure, unadulterated joy,
09:43there isn't much that can stand against Donkey Kong Bonanza. The ability to punch, tear, and smash
09:49through almost the entirety of every level is not only sublime, but it offers a surprising level of
09:55variety when it comes to handling objectives. And every single level finds creative uses for DK's mechanics,
10:02especially those that transform him into different animals.
10:13Bonanza perfectly encapsulates that special type of charm that only Nintendo games have.
10:19Before this, it had been a long time since Donkey Kong starred in his own game,
10:24and we're extremely grateful that he's made such a stellar comeback.
10:34Number 2. Hades 2
10:37Nearly everything that the first Hades accomplished, which was a lot, is made even better in its sequel.
10:54It follows Milenawe, princess of the underworld and sister of the original protagonist, Zagreus,
11:00as she fights to rescue her family from Kronos, the titan of time.
11:03With new weapons, abilities, and boons, there's plenty to dig into when it comes to balancing
11:09different builds and fighting your way through Kronos' forces.
11:20But, once again, the developers at Supergiant found a flawless way to progress a story within a
11:26roguelike structure, expanded on with every death. And it's all told amidst larger-than-life figures with
11:32newfound depth. With an addictive gameplay hook and twice as many locations to fight through,
11:38Hades 2 is understandably hard to put down.
11:50Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
11:54DELTARUNE, chapters 3 and 4. A delight to RPG fans with wonderful characters, humor, and mechanics.
12:10Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Despite its late release leaving it out of the conversation
12:24last year, this is one of Indy's finest adventures.
12:29What are you doing, Joe? Are you crazy?
12:32Just hold the button!
12:34Silent Hill F. A strong, terrifying new direction for the storied franchise.
12:52Clare Obscure Expedition 33
13:01Clare Obscure generated a lot of Game of the Year buzz when it was released in April.
13:13And despite a year loaded with incredible games, nothing has managed to top it in our eyes.
13:20The writing and performances have given us some of the deepest characters to ever
13:37appear in an RPG. The adaptive, turn-based battles with a multitude of enemy patterns to learn, dodge,
13:44and parry are simply a joy. The art direction is stunning, and the musical score is both haunting
13:51and enchanting, combining to create a unique, fully-realized world. The story, which ties
13:58all of these wonderful elements together, is one of grief, love, and resounding courage in the face of
14:04immense turmoil.
14:16What was the best game you played this year? And if we left off any of your favorites,
14:22be sure to sing their praises in the comments.
