00:00Welcome to MojoPlays. In the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is the biggest and most detailed
00:10Rockstar has crafted so far, but that doesn't mean there wasn't a lot of content left on the
00:16cutting room floor. We have all made mistakes over the years, Hosea. Every last one of us.
00:22But I kept us together. Kept us alive. Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel
00:29and ring the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:34Missing Hunts
00:35You wanna go hunting?
00:37What are you hunting? An elephant?
00:39I wish. No, I saw a huge bear. One of the biggest I ever saw. I reckon nearly a thousand pounds.
00:47There is no shortage of creatures to hunt and collect during your exploration of the vanishing
00:52Wild West in Red Dead 2, but originally there were plans to have quite a few more for players to
00:57encounter. Even some that would borderline on the cryptid side of the animal kingdom.
01:02From sharks during the Guarma chapter to even more legendary creatures such as a bobcat to a giant
01:07white rabbit and even a camel, files have been discovered of all these creatures that were cut
01:12at one point or another during development. One of the strangest cuts is the legendary channel catfish,
01:18as the fish itself is continually referenced during the start of a Fisher of Fish mission,
01:23leading many players to continuously fish the waters for a mythical fish that doesn't even exist.
01:28So, that further begs the question, what exactly pulled Jeremy Gill under the water?
01:34Here comes them all!
01:35Princess Isabeau Katerina Zinsmeister
01:46Another bizarre bit of cut content is the mysterious disappearance of Princess Isabeau Katerina Zinsmeister,
01:53as her missing poster can still be found within the game in the town of Van Horn,
01:57while the princess herself is nowhere to be found within the game.
02:00Long before this was discovered to be cut content, thousands of players scoured the game world
02:05searching for this girl who went missing 15 years ago, with some even checking in-game NPCs
02:11for an older version of the young girl, but to no avail.
02:14Dataminers eventually found that an adult Princess Isabeau model does indeed exist within the game,
02:20as well as animations for returning her to the sheriff's office.
02:23But, for whatever reason, this side mission was cut, and her character is locked from the base game itself.
02:29Gorma Camp.
02:30Boys!
02:31You're alive.
02:33Are you?
02:33Oh boy, that's it.
02:34You're a...
02:35You're alive!
02:39Are there?
02:40Okay.
02:41It is a miracle!
02:42It is a goddamn miracle!
02:45Compared to the rest of the game, Gorma feels surprisingly linear and feels out of place
02:50given the rest of the game's open-ended nature and exploration.
02:53However, at some point during development, the scale of Gorma was severely cut back,
02:58as within the game files, dataminers found not only cut side missions and cinematics,
03:03but also mechanics to set up camp on the island.
03:06The island of Gorma was initially designed to be fully explorable, full of stranger missions,
03:11unique hunts, outfits, treasures, and even at one point, a volcano.
03:15Given the complex and ambitious scope of the base game, Gorma was likely scaled back to focus on main areas of the game.
03:22But, had these elements been in the full game, Gorma likely would have been much more positively received by players.
03:29We survived.
03:31Just about.
03:33Eliza.
03:34Miss Gaskell, get that fire lit, quick.
03:37Miss Jones, bring in whatever blankets we have.
03:41Mr. Pearson, see what we've got in terms of food.
03:43Within the base game, Mary Linton is Arthur's former love, and the only real glimpse we get into Arthur's love life.
03:50But, that wasn't originally the case.
03:52Arthur mentions later in the game that he had a son, who unfortunately lost his life,
03:57along with the boy's mother, Eliza, during a robbery.
03:59But, according to some unearthed files, Eliza was planned to be part of the Vanderland gang from the beginning.
04:05Within these files, players have found that Arthur's infant son, Isaac, sadly froze to death in the opening chapter,
04:11with even infant rags and audio of the couple grieving in the files.
04:16Eliza would have had her own missions during Arthur's portion of the game,
04:19and even a special one during the game's epilogue,
04:22but, considering what an emotionally draining experience the game is already,
04:25it's probably for the best it didn't start with an infant's death.
04:29Strangeness I can handle.
04:30Well, it's the normal business of life.
04:33I can't seem to get a grip on it.
04:35You and me both, Arthur.
04:37Minigames.
04:37Red Dead Redemption 2 is already overflowing with extra content for players to entertain themselves,
04:43but there were plans to have even more extracurricular activities to lose even more hours in the game.
04:49While in the base game there is already blackjack, dominoes, poker, and five-finger fillette amongst others,
04:54there were just as many left out of the game.
04:57Liar's Dice, which was playable in Red Dead 1,
04:59would have made a return alongside craps, roulette, three-card monte,
05:03and even horseshoes were playable at one point before being cut.
05:06There were even plans for chests to be playable, and even an archery minigame.
05:11But, whether due to time constraints or the overabundance of game mechanics,
05:15none of these made the cut.
05:17Clawson's Rest.
05:18During your exploration of Amberino, you might have stumbled across a dilapidated shack
05:22in which you find the bodies of two young children who unfortunately starved to death
05:27awaiting their mother's return after chasing after some bandits who stole what little money they had.
05:32Although tragic, it seems there were originally plans for Arthur to find and rescue the children
05:37before it was too late.
05:38Files indicate that Arthur would have found the children and returned them to the sheriff's station
05:42in Valentine, although their mother would still never be found.
05:46Considering this is one of the darkest environmental details in the game,
05:49and the already bleak and brutal nature of the world,
05:52it would have been nice to give those poor children a happier ending.
05:55Daily Lives.
05:56Red Dead Redemption 2 already has some of the most realistic NPCs in all of gaming,
06:02with a number of possible interactions seeming to be almost limitless.
06:05But at one point, they were planned to be even more advanced and realistic than they already ended up being.
06:11Files indicate that many of the shopkeepers and various other tradesmen and women
06:14were going to have normal lives outside of their jobs.
06:17While you can already witness these NPCs' normal day-to-day lives,
06:21opening the shops and working till the sun goes down,
06:24they were supposed to have lives outside of their jobs.
06:27Files indicate that you would have been able to follow these NPCs to bars
06:30and other nightlife activities,
06:32even dressing up or down for the night and relaxing after a hard day's work.
06:36Odds are this was too ambitious for the time,
06:39but will likely make a return in GTA 6.
06:42Black Market Horses.
06:43This is Seamus. He's our new partner.
06:46I ain't no such thing.
06:47Prospective new partner if he likes us.
06:49Liking ain't the problem. Trusting is, as I said.
06:52Keep your voices down.
06:54There are already 19 different breeds of horses in Red Dead Redemption 2,
06:58and finding and collecting all of them originally would have been made much easier by less than noble means.
07:04Plans were originally in place for the game to make use of a black market system in order to buy,
07:09trade, and even steal different horses,
07:11bringing them to a fence and receiving forged papers so that the horse was no longer labeled as stolen,
07:16leaving you free to stable the horse or even resell it to another buyer,
07:21who would make varying offers depending on the condition of the horse and how many previous owners it had.
07:26There were also additional breeds of horse that didn't make the cut in the final game,
07:29such as the quarter horse.
07:31Find any other coaches that need selling.
07:33I'll see what I can offer you for them.
07:35But discreet, you know.
07:37Of course.
07:38Industry 2 Mission.
07:39The patrols will all be going this way when Abigail and I cause the diversion.
07:44That's the opportunity.
07:45What do you think, Arthur?
07:46I don't see we have a lot of choice.
07:49We linger around here, we know we're dead.
07:52Creatures, characters, and locations weren't the only things cut from Red Dead Redemption 2,
07:56as entire story missions were also abandoned.
07:59One such mission, simply known as Industry 2 within the game files,
08:03would have taken place before the mission banking the old American art,
08:06and would have seen Arthur, Abigail, Hosea, and Micah
08:10testing the response time of the local law enforcement
08:12by setting off an explosion nearby.
08:15However, after Arthur saves a witness before the blast goes off,
08:18the group is caught in a gunfight and must flee on a train,
08:21with the train eventually crashing,
08:23leading Arthur and Micah to bail out before being caught in the devastation.
08:27It's unknown why this mission was cut,
08:29as models for the crashed train still exist within the game files.
08:36No problem.
08:39That just ain't how I want to die.
08:42Mexico.
08:43You don't want to disappoint us, Sheriff.
08:48Bargain's a bargain.
08:50Back off, okay?
08:51We got some business with the Sheriff.
08:53New Austin might have been locked off for Arthur in the main game,
08:57but some uncovered lines of dialogue indicate this wasn't always the plan,
09:00as well as another iconic location seemingly originally planned
09:04for the already ambitious prequel.
09:06Data miners found that almost the entirety of Mexico from the original Red Dead Redemption
09:10is already in the game,
09:12with many of the buildings and iconic locations still intact,
09:15and even some recovered lines of dialogue referencing Nuevo París.
09:19Red Dead 2's Mexico even has its own ambience theme already designed,
09:23leading to many modders working diligently to rebuild those lost textures and elements back into the game.
09:29Considering the size and scale of the base game,
09:32it's almost impossible to think that Mexico could have also been fully explorable
09:36with its own missions and unique encounters.
09:38Which content are you most disappointed didn't make it into the final game?
