00:00Did someone build this?
00:03There's something on its body.
00:06Welcome to Mojo Plays.
00:08And just like any good piece of art,
00:10the world of Claire Obscure Expedition 33 and The Paintress
00:14hides many secrets waiting for only the most dedicated of players to uncover.
00:18Naturally, there will be spoilers ahead, so this is your warning.
00:22You know, hobbies don't always have to be useful.
00:25I'm enjoying the uselessness of today and readying my usefulness for tomorrow.
00:30Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel

00:38Memeable Gestrals
00:39The Gestral Village is one of Expedition 33's largest hub worlds,
00:52so naturally there are quite a lot of easter eggs
00:54tucked away in nearly every corner for players to uncover.
00:57From numerous shops to a battle tournament and even a door to the manor,
01:01there's no shortage of things to see and do while visiting the Gestral's home.
01:06Near the stage area, you can interact with a rotund Gestral,
01:09who will attempt to coax the player to dance with them
01:11and proceed to break it down with no signs of stopping.
01:15But by far the best one is found to the right of the entrance,
01:18where you can find a Gestral sitting idle in a room full of flames
01:22that will comment this is fine, in a reference to the iconic meme.
01:26This is fine. I'm okay with the events that are unfolding currently.
01:30Even in the painted world of Expedition 33, meme culture is alive and well.
01:35Well, that wasn't so bad.
01:37Yeah, it really just felt like beating old people.
01:39So it wasn't so bad.
01:41RPG greatness
01:42The developers at Sandfall Interactive have made it no secret
01:54about their inspirations and love of classic RPGs,
01:57especially the old-school Final Fantasy games.
02:01This love was so prevalent throughout the entire game,
02:04they even included an easily missable nod to one of the classics of the PS1 era.
02:08In the Frozen Hearts area outside of Monoko Station,
02:12this massive frozen area looks as though it was hit by a sudden and freak blizzard,
02:17leaving jagged ice crystals jutting out of every exposed area.
02:21As soon as you enter the area, you'll find a train blasted by the icy winds.
02:26However, if you look at the front of the train from a specific angle,
02:29it unmistakably resembles the logo of Final Fantasy VII,
02:33right down to the placement of the trail coming off the meteor.
02:36Brings back memories.
02:38Why?
02:40We lived on this mountain together for some time.
02:45Bromantic.
02:46Tickling the Ivories.
02:49Do you mind if I play here?
02:54Expedition 33 is full of tiny details that help make the world feel more fleshed out
02:59and fully realized than many players may have even noticed during their first expedition.
03:04Scattered throughout the world are pianos the player can interact with.
03:08However, depending on which character you currently have leading the party,
03:12they each have specific levels of proficiency playing the keys.
03:15While most of the characters will play single notes here and there,
03:19Verso will actually play a full song,
03:21which fits entirely with his character given his love and passion for music.
03:25The devs didn't need to include this tiny, missable detail, but were so happy they did.
03:30You ready?
03:31The Flying Manor
03:43Expedition 33 is full of hidden areas the game never directs you to explore,
03:53meaning some of these massive levels and worlds can be easily missed or overlooked entirely.
03:58One such area is the Flying Manor.
04:01Not only is this area completely missable, it's also one of the game's few endgame dungeons
04:06where anything less than a fully kitted out party will get you massacred even stepping foot inside.
04:12The area is massive and full of branching paths with the overall goal to find and defeat the four bosses within,
04:19which are bosses you've already faced during your initial journey, only much stronger.
04:24Defeating these numerous bosses will net you perfect Chroma Catalysts which are required to max out your weapon's level.
04:29The challenge may be great, but the rewards are more than worth the effort.
04:41A Father's Love
04:43If you're gonna give someone flowers, you should probably do it before they wither and die.
04:50What, the flower? Or Sophie?
04:53Ooh, dark. Sophie would approve.
04:55Everyone in Lumiere is dealing with the upcoming gommage in different ways.
05:00Such as one couple who found another way to celebrate the end,
05:03and if you repeatedly interrupt them 33 times,
05:06the couple will give you a color of Lumina to go away and tell you off for being a pervert.
05:11Harsh, but understandable.
05:13Come on, you've been listening for too long now!
05:15It's made things more exciting at first, but now it's, uh, it's awkward.
05:20I'll give you this and you leave, okay? Just go do it together!
05:23But, as you explore the city before the end, you can also come across a father named Richard,
05:28who is about to gommage but had a fight with his son the night before,
05:32over his son's desire to join the expedition after his gommage.
05:36To make amends, Richard made his son a custom expeditioner outfit,
05:40and asked you to give it to him after he's gone.
05:42By finding his son Jules during the expedition ceremony, and offering him the uniform,
05:47Jules will ask you to keep it, which is also one of the most easily missable outfits in the entire game.
05:53I want to support the expedition now.
05:56Take it! It may be useful to you.
06:00It's okay. I don't need the uniform to know my dad's with me.
06:04Swimsuit Special
06:06Clear Obscure Expedition 33 has no shortage of unlockable costumes for all its characters,
06:11but by far the most prized are the swimsuits.
06:14Unlocked by completing the mini, and surprisingly challenging,
06:17gestural beach parkour and minigame challenges.
06:21However, these costumes serve more than just an aesthetic preference.
06:25If every character wears their swimsuit costume to the final confrontation with Renoir at the end of the game,
06:30the stoic patriarch of the Desandre family will also don his swim costume
06:34to not be left out of the festivities in the game's final cutscenes.
06:38Child, it will get better, I promise you.
06:41But this is not the way.
06:45Who knew beneath that heavy jacket, Renoir was packing those guns?
06:49Monoko's room.
06:51The manor is one of the strangest areas in the game,
06:54and naturally is filled with numerous secrets of its own,
06:56as well as some that are so well hidden, you likely walk right past them.
07:01Monoko isn't just a lovable, furry, battle-loving gestural,
07:04he's also Sandfall Interactive's unofficial mascot,
07:07and the team dedicated an entire space within the manor to the little pooch.
07:12In the foyer of the manor, one of the paintings hangs lower than the rest,
07:16and is adorned with numerous bowls and toys around its base.
07:19However, if you jump towards the painting,
07:22you'll actually pass through to a secret room on the other side,
07:25with walls covered in paintings and pictures of the beloved pup.
07:29Additionally, hidden within the room is a shape of life that allows you to upgrade your revive tint.
07:34Such a good boy!
07:35The Trash Can Man
07:37Despite only being technically the prologue of the game,
07:39the town of Lumiere hides many secrets for those willing to track them down.
07:44One such secret is hidden in a very particular trash can.
07:47By interacting with the can three separate times,
07:50a resident who is about to gommage believes he can avoid his fate by hiding within the can,
07:55and asks you to leave him so he's not found out,
07:57and even reveals he's been hiding there for the last six months.
08:01Today, can you believe my luck?
08:03Why would my parents choose the worst time?
08:07But I have a strategy.
08:08If I hide myself here, the paintress won't think of gommaging me.
08:12However, the paintress never misses,
08:15and should you return to the same can in act three,
08:18you can find not only a letter in which he realizes his plan didn't work,
08:22but also a perfect trauma catalyst.
08:24Farewell, Trash Can Man.
08:26Your sacrifice will not be forgotten.
08:28Actually, I am gommaging like everyone else.
08:31Looks like my plan didn't work.
08:33Myel's Medellum.
08:45There are a multitude of weapons available for players to customize their playstyle,
08:50but not all the best weapons are locked behind the endgame content,
08:54and one of Myel's best can be acquired within the first few hours of the game.
08:58Upon entering the Gestral Village, you'll be coerced into taking part in a battle tournament,
09:02and to get the best reward, you'll need to make sure Myel is the one who participates.
09:07For winning the duel, Myel is rewarded with the Medellum, a sword which starts her off in her
09:12Virtuous stance, which immediately boosts her damage to 200%.
09:17This is a must-have for the best possible Myel build, and unfortunately, if you miss the first
09:22chance, you'll have to challenge Golgra to a duel, and the reward is also the Medellum,
09:27but with her millions of HP and attacks that can easily one-shot you, your best bet is still the tournament.
09:34Simon
09:37Another area that can easily be completely overlooked, Renoir's drafts hides some of not only the
09:54game's toughest challenges, but also the hardest boss in the entire game. Mind you,
10:00even reaching him can be a struggle with all the high-level enemies standing in your way,
10:04but it's worth it not only for the battle itself, but also for the story significance,
10:09as Simon is a remnant of the very first Expedition, Expedition Zero, led by Renoir to kill the
10:16Paintress. Captured and corrupted by Clea and tricked into releasing the Curator, Simon was driven
10:21mad and trapped inside the depths of the canvas. Simon is without a doubt the greatest challenge in
10:27all of Expedition 33, and saving him from his tragic fate is more than worth the effort.
10:32And the many, many deaths and broken controllers.
10:47What was the most unexpected secret you stumbled across in Claire Obscure, Expedition 33?
10:52Share your findings for those who come after in the comments.
