00:00Welcome to viewers who have joined us on BBC One Scotland as ever in Scottish
00:11football there is no shortage of drama Michael Stewart and Tom English are
00:15alongside me in the studio let's take you on a journey right away around the
00:19grounds two games in the top flight this afternoon kicked off at three o'clock
00:23first stop West Lothan Livingston at home to hearts Alan Preston is there for us
00:27yeah it was a half time it was Livingston one hearts now when hearts from the
00:31changes in the second half to get back in the game but the opening goal came in
00:3526 minutes it was Smith wide on the right goes by Moun as if he wasn't there cuts
00:39inside and let's let's fly a shot from 25 yards goes through Finlay's legs and beats
00:44Clark low down his left hand side Livingston fully deserved to be ahead at
00:48half time but into the second half Derek McInnes once again rang the changes
00:52Kizaridis come on and within two minutes he makes an instant impact he wins a
00:56corner and then it's played short to him from that corner he whips it across and
01:00there's Claudio Braga running across the front course with a flick header
01:03into the back of the net it's been all hearts in the second half
01:06scored at the moment Livingston won hearts won it's remarkable Michael you
01:09touched on earlier on how these changes have completely changed this game through
01:12Ammonvale yeah it's just getting a a bit more pace and directness into the the
01:19heart side but yeah Kizaridis made an instant impact in the wide areas I think Livy have just been
01:26able to stem the tide a little bit as the second half's worn on they've been able to double up and
01:32and just shut Kizaridis down a little bit quicker and to stop him being so effective doing that right
01:39hand side but um yeah for hearts I think you're spot on with what you said a couple of minutes ago
01:44there that um they need to get a second goal to get three points
01:48for Hull Ian McCall is at Firhull it's been a fantastic game here this afternoon Ian who's in front now
01:53uh Partey Fischler in front I'm gonna try to get the goal scorer it was Aidan Fitzpatrick again it was that
01:59really really daft header from Dylan Easton he's actually knocked it into Aidan Fitzpatrick's path and he's
02:04fired it across to the back post and it's a great finish I'm almost saying this Chalmers that puts
02:10Parry Thistle 3-2 up I think it's deserved as well fantastic game there right from the start
02:14Ian McCall predicted goals and that's certainly come to pass just elsewhere some goals Burnley have
02:18equalized away at Manchester United two apiece there and elsewhere Stirling Albion 1-0 up at home to
02:26Ryan Shanley with that goal on 70 minutes let's get to the game at third part Motherwell at home to
02:31Kilmarnock this afternoon let's get the latest from Tony Doherty
02:34yeah a real kind of statement of intent I think from Motherwell here they've made three substitutions
02:38two debuts coming on Oscar Priestman Regan Charles Cook the two debutants and Callum Henry a striker
02:44I've worked with myself and it just shows you there's real depth in that squad now to bring on
02:48three players of that quality and into a game where they're dominating a Kilmarnock team here have
02:53started the season well as I say it's a wee bit of a statement of intent I think one thing's for clear
02:59uh Tom English that any game involved in Motherwell this season and we had a belt
03:03to last weekend is going to have no short of drama they're great fun to watch they're playing good
03:08stuff they're scoring good goals they have an effervescence and a confidence about them under
03:13the new manager that just wasn't there before I mean Motherwell fans must be loving this
03:17certainly the reaction the crowd they're having this you're right you're right Tom in the scene but
03:23you know what you can't like Kilmarnock just as I say that they break up the part because that is
03:26the thing Michael said about risk and reward as good as they are to watch when they're opened up to
03:31play and as expansive you know they can they do have that risk that they can get cut open going the
03:36other way and that was an example of it there but yeah I've got to say there's a real healthy
03:41atmosphere for the crowd here they're enjoying what they're watching and as I say you see the quality of
03:45particularly Callum Henry and Charles Cook coming on and again that you're dominating and he shows
03:49you that you get depth and that's what also has Stuart Ketterwell Tony changed anything from a
03:54Kilmarnock perspective I was a wee bit surprised he took off a striker and put on a midfield player that
03:59they put on a McGuinness and McKenzie and took off Polworth and Bruce Anderson you know I thought
04:05maybe he might have went with Marley Watkins for a bit but listen he's he's put an extra midfielder in there
04:09and again they've got a focal point in Dakers and they're maybe going to try and expose
04:15that counter-attack play off him and get midfield runners beyond it but they've took a striker off
04:19for it for a striker and a midfielder off for two midfielders
04:24Inverness Kyle Thistle won Allo Athletic 0 Liam Sowell in 72 minutes Dennis Muir won he's 5-0 Ewan O'Reilly
04:30on 74 minutes that third goal for Parker Thistle has been credited to Logan Chalmers what a game
04:35there Thistle 3 Wraith Rovers 2 let's stay in the championship potentially a big shock in the cards in
04:41Perth Willie Miller is at McDermott Park for us this afternoon St Johnson against Morton
04:46what's late this year Willie yeah Kenny it's been a real struggle for St Johnson this afternoon yeah
04:51they've passed the ball I don't think quickly enough I don't think the tempo's been high enough they've
04:55certainly haven't been enough creativity in and around the Morton box but you've got to hand it to
05:01Morton as well the way they've set up and the back four in particular Longridge and Muir have been really
05:08solid at the heart of that defence and they haven't given the St Johnson strikers an opportunity barely
05:15an opportunity there's been shots from outside the box McPay had a couple of strikes but they've all
05:21been long range shots almost another goal Motherwell right let's go back to Tony Docker he's watching
05:26the game at Fair Park Motherwell at home to Kamara another big chance there Tony from the corner the
05:30corner came from brilliant play from Regan Charles Cook you know driving down that left-hand side cutting
05:35inside putting the ball across to Callum Henry another one who's just come on and it's the
05:40resultant corner the ball gets put across and it's Liam Gordon that makes the header across and
05:44the aforementioned number nine nearly turned it in it's an absolute Stamatopoulos yeah
05:51it was a great move wasn't it you know another classic Motherwell move that the goalkeeper had it they
05:56built it right from the back but again just highlighting the importance of players that go and pique their
06:02opponent one v one because it came it went in the middle of the park Regan Charles Cook picked up
06:06under a bit of pressure dropped his shoulder and drift past his opponent and drives down the line
06:11and all of a sudden they're up in the final third just all-round really good play and they've got a
06:16good balance in their team Motherwell Michael back to that game Willie's at McDermott Park potential
06:21shock in the cards here you had a good chat with the St Johnson manager Simu Valakari a couple of weeks ago
06:27he he's loving life at the club loving life in the championship they are title favourites despite
06:32a potential setback today do you like the look of the squad he's put together there are they favourites
06:37for you in this early stage of the season um yeah I would put them as a slight favourites I think
06:43there's obviously a number of teams that um are capable of putting a challenge in but um they're uh
06:49you know I said this last week I think that when you look at the squad that they've got
06:52I don't I don't think it's arguably I think it is definitely a better team and squad than they had
06:59last season in the top flight um and yeah they'll need to be a good uh opponent in the championship to
07:06uh to get in front of St Johnson and take the title but there are a number of teams that will be able to
07:11compete there's no doubt first sight to go sorry for hearts record signing eduardo as you it pulls it
07:18wide 25 yards he's looked some nice touches when he's come on very early in his heart's career but
07:24he looks decent I wonder if two potential title challengers in the championship are facing off at
07:29east end park this afternoon at home to ross county chick young is there for us what's the latest chick
07:34yeah I'd be surprised if uh ross county the way they're playing today in the second half I'd be
07:39surprised if they're in about the promotion battle kenny they're trailing here by two goals to one
07:45they've got an injury uh down there at the moment the game has been stopped this uh the powers ahead
07:50uh they went ahead early in the game uh Cholicoa Mullin scoring a good but it's a magnificent
07:57equalizer remember from Rory to Hale 1-1 at uptime but Zach Ruddin his debut uh has put the
08:04powers 2-1 ahead in front of a big home crowd of nearly 5 000 inside the ground and he's
08:09consequently been substituted we've got another ball the striker up front and Chris Kane so running
08:14off free kick to uh Ross county just outside the box whipped in and I think the powers will deal
08:19with that at the back yes they have it's still 2-1 to the third one Tom Ingers was chatting earlier on
08:25about of course Don Cowey part of company with uh them this week at Ross county John Robertson
08:31in interim charge today I wonder if he's gonna get a wee run at it or do you think that they'll go elsewhere
08:36you feel they need to get back on track quite quickly yeah they they do they need to get back
08:40on track I don't know I don't know if Robertson John Robertson is going to get a run at us they
08:44think there's some decent managers available at the moment uh so I think I think it's a goal
08:50commander oh right wow totally against totally against the runner player and a huge mistake
08:56but the goalkeeper Callum Ward the ball's played in from a deep area from Lewis Mayo he's dropped the ball
09:03I don't know how it looked for you guys in the studio for me it just looks like a mistake
09:06yeah and he's dropped the ball and they've lost the goal and oh my god it's a ridiculous goal to lose
09:11you know when you've been so dominant in the game and really something's just thrown in the box and
09:16it's a gift yeah it is it's a gift exactly it looks like a shocker from the keeper but he
09:20I don't know I mean he's claiming that he's on his jersey pulled I think it's the equalizer
09:25right equalizer for St Johnson Kenny in from the right hand side Josh McPay strikes it low into the
09:35near post of the goalkeeper could have done a little bit better I would suggest but a good strike
09:40uh he's he's looked lively he's had a couple of strikes from outside the box and this occasion
09:45his third effort great nestled in the back of the net so it's an equalizer for St Johnson
09:50and he checked it in Var and Kilmarnop managed to get a self-back in the game it's 2-2
09:54going into the 82nd minute now Michael you've got a chance to win a look at that
09:57yeah quite rightly so I mean it's you know I think it was is it Robbie Dees that just went in behind
10:02he ran across the front of the goalie but didn't put him off he went behind him I think he maybe just
10:05tickled his back you know certainly wasn't a free kick and very much now game on up in Perth
10:11you know he works there's a chance for Harts Braga he's missed it that's an absolute sir
10:18Eduardo Aju goes through the keeper makes a good save it comes to Braga he's like two in the back of
10:23the net hits the post his head is in his hands on the screen he can't believe it Michael
10:29mistakes here from a goalkeeper and now from a from a striker
10:33Derek McInnes looks furious there in the touchdown that's a painful one right here we go Michael talk
10:38us through it it's a lovely ball is it Shankland I think plays the ball over the top as you's running
10:42through and oh my goodness he I think he actually tries to flick it to the side for Braga and it
10:49flicks up in the air and he's on the inside left channel the goal's at his mercy with his left boot
10:56there and he hits the outside of the post and Ryan McGowan clatters himself into the post try to
11:00block it I mean it should be 2-1 this is a good this is a good finisher Braga and that's we've
11:06seen him score some excellent goals over the last week or so all different types of goals different
11:10types of goals this is the easiest chance he's had nothing to do with the chance but we've got to say
11:14that I'm looking at the picture it is great for AstroTurf but there's a lot of them slipping
11:18yeah I don't know what footwear they've got on but they're slipping all over the place there's
11:22heavy rain here now in Livingston right very much game on there let's get to another championship
11:28game let's check in with Rory Law he's down at Somerset Park Forest today Aire United against
11:33Queen's Park and potentially a shock in the cards down there Rory yes indeed uh Queen's Park I have
11:38to say have defended ever so well not only are they organized but the likes of Aidan Connolly who is not
11:43known for his defending has has made some unbelievable blocks despite his height back
11:48in the box Pignatelo's done the same you and Murray's been oh off the bar yeah another chance
11:53oh unbelievable Paul McMullen he's cut inside he's just absolutely rattled it from about 15 yards
11:59hit the underside of the bar and come back out Wraith really pressing for the equalizer
12:03equalizer there United oh back to Rory Law at Somerset Park it's Dom Thomas who crosses it in it's clear to the edge of
12:10the box and it's Jude Bonner who shoots I don't know if it's going on target wicked deflection
12:15into the site net and it's air one Queen's Park one game on Rory perhaps that chap who was giving
12:20it large earlier on with some choice language you have to say right beside you down there he'll maybe
12:25be a happy champion now he'll probably be feeling a little bit better he's been a little bit more
12:28subdued the second half I don't know if people around him have had a word with him but he was
12:32crying for Dom Thomas to come on Dom Thomas has come on and no being great he's hit three corners
12:37over the bar without even getting it into the box but his fourth corner he made it count
12:41one one game on down there come on well there you are East Kilbride five fourth athletic nil Flanagan
12:47with the goal on 85 minutes they are the title favorites they they lost their opening game but
12:51they've been in great form since then we'll go through the tables for you later on we'll give you
12:55the classifieds and also just if you if you're listening if you want to make a point about the coverage
12:59about your team about a referee decision the European performances anything at all the big games
13:04tomorrow all coverage and covered in BBC Radio Scotland send us a WhatsApp voice now 08 085 92 95 00 because
13:12we'll play them out later in the program sports and continues on the radio right through until
13:17seven o'clock let's get back then to Alan Preston that game through there at Almond Vale it's a really
13:22good second half Al. It has and Hudson made another change Beningame's come off and it's Carjota that's come on
13:27so that means Desarides will go from the right hand side to the left Carjota will go and play with it so
13:33Harts have got two out and out wingers on now which didn't have that luxury in that opening period
13:37Livingston making the changes as well trying to get back in the game Harts have certainly had the
13:41better of the second half but it's still 1-1. Oh chance real chance yeah another chance a fair
13:46part Tony Doherty. Motherwell just walked into that area great play Belongelo getting down into that
13:51we have spaces we put one right across the face of the goal I think one of the strikers a midfielder
13:56should have gambled on that real good opportunity to take the lead in this game again for Motherwell.
14:00Tony you were saying that that equaliser came against the the run of play but when you look
14:04at the 90 minutes in full when it closes in a few minutes time would a draw be a fair reflection
14:09of what you've seen? I don't think so in the balance of play second half I think Motherwell have been
14:14really really dominant interestingly they took they took Elliot Watt off who as I said earlier on was
14:20really instrumental in their play and they brought on the debutant Oscar Friesman and I don't know if they
14:24don't seem to have as much control but no I think in the balance of play Motherwell shouldn't be losing this game
14:30they shouldn't be for the amount of possession they fired the amount of chances they've created and
14:34put really against it on a play it's a big big mistake for Callum Ward to allow Kamarnock back in
14:40but interesting Kamarnock then made a change right away and brought on Molly Watkins went to back four so
14:45they can sniff blood a wee bit so I think there's something to give somebody given this game I don't see it
14:51staying at two two he wasn't creating a couple of hearts goals last week either was he he's not
14:56having a great start of the season there's so much so much that's right about Motherwell at the moment but
15:02goalkeeper again that might that might be the argument you have Tom you're really really good with his feet
15:07his feet but it's getting that complete goalkeeper that you know your job's to to keep goal that's
15:13the clues in the title and do you know if you can play it for the back yes a bonus absolutely great but
15:18he's I think he's cost his team today because they they should in the balance of play be
15:22comfortably winning this match it's brilliant you know that's such a good point uh doc that you know
15:27I heard a lot of comment about Donnarumma not being you know the best with the body's feet and
15:31I'm thinking to myself just give me a keeper like a safe shot of course
15:37first and foremost of course as Tony's saying there if he can play you know it's not like he can't
15:41kick the ball you know and if you're just making it basic for him in terms of pass it five yards
15:46or thump it up the park then he's a world he's you know he's arguably the best keeper in the world
15:51you you find these keepers that oh they're great with the ball at the feet but they keep chucking
15:55the ball on the back of the net and it drips through the team doesn't it you you have a nervousness
15:58don't you if you keep that it's not us yeah losing goals affects confidence absolutely just at this
16:03stage but they've got a free kick at the edge of the box by the way I see Callum Hennie with the ball
16:07in his hand this is an opportunity 23 24 yards from goal you know 88 minutes it's a chance to take the lead
16:13right looking back to Tony let's get back to Somerset Park Rory Lloyd Air United against
16:17Queen's Park yes indeed Air United are really pushing for the winner here they've got the ball
16:22halfway up the pitch Queen's Park just simply can't get out uh Callum Ferry's been very good in the
16:26goals as has the defence of Queen's Park all day but I think they're going to be up against it in
16:30this last few minutes here but it does remain one apiece right Spartans have scored late on
16:341-0 they are up at home and an athletic Ethan Dryas goal 8 to 6 minutes yes goal
16:39oh it's an equalizer for Ross County it's a great strike coming in from the right side it's
16:45Rodden Hill again magnificent bit of play jinx in from the left hand side puts it on his right foot
16:51and just slides it beyond the goalkeeper wonderful goal early on another wonderful goal from him and
16:59it's all square at East End Barton firmly to Ross County too potentially a really sore one for Neil
17:04Lennon this is a story I think we're all quite interested in he's a very experienced manager there's a lot
17:09of excitement around his appointment another couple there's been serious investment yeah and there's
17:13a lot of pressure that comes with that investment a lot of pressure that comes with Neil Lennon full stop
17:18because he's done so much in the game we mentioned Ronan Hale early on yes I think this guy is a fine
17:24striker he's got a lot of goals last season a couple more today I'm very surprised that somebody hasn't
17:31tried to come in for him now I'm sure he'll be getting paid handsomely there where he is but
17:35I think he's this guy could do a and has done a job uh in the in the in the premiership so I'm not
17:42sure why somebody hasn't come in soon yes a decent striker these five people eyes the way it's tennis
17:46we're Nathan Austin on 89 minutes that's the the latest goal news right across the country this
17:53afternoon let's say get back to McDermott Park the home side now I'm sure William Miller absolutely
17:58pushing for a winner there they've been pushing for they've been pushing for goals all game uh and so much so
18:04in the second half that they did get that equalizer but you're right Kenny you know the the crowd
18:08they're behind them they're making a lot of noise that the game basically is played and that final
18:14third where Morton you've got to hand it to Morton though they've defended extremely well they've really
18:19limited uh St Johnson to shots outside the box and that's where the goal they came from and all their
18:26chances have come from as well but yeah absolutely one-way traffic they're pushing hard they're looking for
18:32that that victory they're looking for that goal would keep their 100 record in the league I think
18:37it's quite hard today to pick game of the day Ian McCall but certainly your match at Firhill will be a
18:42serious contender it's been I mean it's came alive in the last 20 minutes again after the terrific
18:47first half I mean Aidan Fitzpatrick has been top notch he's got genuine pace I'm not talking about
18:53championship pace you go up a level no problem but Wraith can count themselves on force and they've
18:58had two or three really good opportunities and saying that Fitzpatrick just burst through again
19:02there and they had a great strike just saved but Pistler just trying to see the game out at 3-2
19:07will they be worthy winners I think a draw would probably be unfair but they would take it I would
19:11imagine Ian would you see both these sides being in and around the playoffs absolutely yeah I mean
19:17I think a lot has been made of St Johnson I think they're a decent side I'm not so sure they're not going to
19:22run away with it like Dundee and United or teams like that no not for me I think these two definitely
19:26I think you know this is the way they're playing they're two wide players as long as you can keep
19:30them fit like any team in the championship Kenny you need a wee bit of luck with injuries and certainly
19:35great throwers in the forward areas as well I've got Mace they've got you know they've got good
19:39players you've got goal scorers it's been a terrific game it really has yeah sounded fantastic there
19:43Queen of the South look to have nabbed a late winner at home to Kelty Hearts
19:47Reece Lyon with that goal on 88 minutes let's get back to Tony Doherty a fantastic game fantastic
19:53entertainment this afternoon at Fair Park Motherwell at home to Kilmarnock is either side pushing for
19:58the winner there Tony this has been a brilliant game really really uh good advert for Scottish
20:03football but it's going to four minutes added time now there's two minutes gone and I get
20:10Motherwell the team for me that the pattern of the game you know they're dominating possession but then
20:15there's a you know commander really playing their part as well you know in terms of that counter
20:18attacking so with two minutes to go can I see a winner I'm not sure with the clock kicking down but
20:25it's been a brilliant game really really good advert as I say we were chatting on Motherwell and I got
20:31about Motherwell and Rangers are speaking to you about that Michael about the difference both sides like
20:35to play out from the back one's had a lot of praise one hasn't I knew him at a point to me but sometimes
20:40it's not about the message it's about the messenger and clearly Jens Bertolt Ascu is getting his message
20:45across from these Motherwell players you're divulging private conversations can I go for it yeah I mean
20:52look clearly uh he has complete control and command of the the team they believe what he's trying to do
20:58whereas um you know when you compare and contrast with Rangers there's obviously a serious problem there
21:03with regards to Russell Martin getting his message over because it's not working at the moment and sometimes it
21:08it just comes down to the person that's delivering it and Jens Bertolt Ascu is
21:13is it is is working his message is going over so the messenger and the messages is that is what is
21:18working perfectly whereas at Rangers certainly at the moment it appears that the manager is struggling
21:24came up for Hill 3-2 to the home side yeah very very good victory for the home side there
21:29he McCall believes both these clubs will be in and around the playoffs come the end of the season
21:33we're speaking about Rangers they're there of course involved in that old firm
21:36Derby tomorrow full coverage on BBC really stop them from half past 11 let's get to the closing
21:42stages to Kenny and uh say 1-1 here at McDermott so a late equalizer for the home side they're a
21:48sore one for Dougie Emery's Morton but Eamon Brophy with a goal there give them some real hope and
21:53I think at the end of the day they'll be happy with a point it's a tough place to go let's get to the game
21:57through at Almondvale any sign of a winner through there Alan Preston uh not yet but full time Kenny
22:03East End Park 2-2 right 2-2 to the game there through East End Park so we'll get back to Chick Young a little
22:09later on Derby home to Ross County yes chance okay let's get back to the game
22:12Kizaridis has won it for hearts oh my goodness it's a break of the ball and he opens his body up and
22:19curls it around the keeper into the back of the neck it's carnage not a way end what a game remind us Alan how many away fans there today
22:28six and a half thousand this is Shanklin just rolls it to Kizaridis on the 18-yard box and he just opens
22:34his body up and passes it into the bottom corner great finish great finish the away end that's three sides
22:40of the stadium it's an absolute this has been honestly Derek McKinnock the second half team and
22:46has been that since he's come in he's rang the changes all credit to him he's got to take the credit
22:51because he's been struggling in the opening periods made the changes again Kizaridis coming on set up the
22:56first looks like could have the winner it's not been a dirty game we've had nine yellow cards
23:02but a total game of two laughs see the thing that this tells me and I've said this in the last couple
23:07of weeks see if hearts find a system and it clicks this is a team that's full of character because the
23:14the four games so far you wouldn't say that they've been scintillating performances right okay we'll come
23:20back to that let's get back to Tony Dockery at Fir Park Tony dying embers of this game Marley Watkins makes a
23:26brilliant run to get a free kick for Kilmarnock in the closing stages balls played into the box a free
23:31header final whistles just went but last attempt to the game there a header three header in the box
23:37Kilmarnock could have just won it and that would have been really really harsh on the model but what
23:42listen what a brilliant game I've just witnessed here two teams deserve a huge amount of credit for what
23:47they put into that and the pain public I've really enjoyed it and it's been a great advert as I say for
23:52Scottish football yeah we'll hear from both managers later in the programme Motherwell providing a lot of
23:57the entertainment but as Tony said a lot of credit must go to Kilmarnock this afternoon Tom we've just seen the
24:00pictures coming into the studio there and the guys described them really well incredible scenes of
24:05celebration the lashing rain through their arm and veil I tell you what I mean hearts have showed a lot of
24:10class in the second half since Chris Reed has come on they've shown hard work as well big time work ethic
24:16in this team look at the touches from the new sign-in as well if sports here or whatever I don't know if
24:21they can but highlight his touches brilliant he's being magnificent honestly he's now going and playing
24:26centre midfield with Cammy Devlin he looks a proper player he's all front he's all front foot Alan isn't
24:31he he's all looking forward creativity let's go forward yeah yeah yeah very good so that's what
24:36I was saying before if hearts you know click and find the right balance you know you look at the
24:41performance against Aberdeen it wasn't a simply in performance it was pure just determination likewise
24:47at Tana Dice and and then the the comeback against Motherwell and now here it's another comeback the
24:54performances are not free-flowing there's quality in the side there's pure guts and determination and work
25:00ethic there is quality clearly and once it starts to all come together hearts will be in a pretty
25:06good place answering this in terms of quality thanks to Rory Loy down there one a piece between
25:11Air United and Queen's Park down there Michael is there much right now in terms of quality between
25:17hearts and hips quality-wise not even but in guts and determination as well I mean hearts and hips
25:23are both in a really good place I mean hips have got a you know they've they have their system they know
25:29what they're doing and I think there's a chance for Livingston oh I think he's offside anyway it's a cut
25:36back the hat from Montgomery but the flag goes up yeah so annoying when they do that that's
25:42comfortable saving the end it's right Xander Clark but yeah I mean I think hips are a couple of players
25:48short in terms of being able to really go and compete if they were and this is just the caveat if
25:53they were to suffer an injury here or there now talk of Lyndon Dykes perhaps going in Hibs I think
25:59that would be a brilliant signing for them I really do because he had taken the emphasis off of Kieran Bowie
26:05you could play the two of them up top and they would batter the living daylights out of you know
26:08defenses as well so it gives them a different dynamic and I think another center midfielder would be if they
26:15got Dykes and another center midfielder I think hips would be in a really really good position I'm gutted they're not in the
26:22the the league phase of the conference league because I think they would have done really
26:26well I think they would have picked up a lot of points and but now they can focus domestically
26:32and I think they're in a good position hearts and hips to capitalize on the the debacle that's going
26:37on at Ibrox at the moment hearts that they've got to get this intensity from the start and get this
26:42organization in the set in the setup in the formation and the intensity and the energy that
26:48they've had in the second half has been outstanding because they have the bit of class there
26:53once they hit on the formation that works they're gonna they're gonna be they're gonna be a danger
26:58but that's what we're saying to you we've not seen enough yet of the forward players the
27:03the Kisiotas the Kabori the Kisaridis yeah you know if these guys good if these guys if these guys
27:10have that you know quality and you get the balance of the team the one consistent issue though is they
27:18need a right back they need a right back they need a right back let's go back to Alex at corner right
27:23now let's go back livingston everyone apart from the keeper is in the box right here we go huge
27:27moment he's got a score what a chance that is just knocks it wide real chance here it was for
27:35mclernan come on as a substitute free header you'd think you'd score Sarah mclernan's we fizzing at
27:41that defense holding his hands like a kami devlin's putting his arm around them as if to say like oh
27:46you're all right oh geez that was close it's like aye he missed one he should have buried that and
27:52three header five yards out yeah he's got to score good ball in from me it was very good ball very
27:59it's a what a chance full chance hearts go top of the league it's a very very good win for them
28:05in a tough place it's uh you look at i mean obviously it's about the first 11 but derek
28:12mckinnis has now got impact serious impact off the bench braga last last week here's the readers
28:17today he's got a he's got a squad he's got a squad of players or something there's definitely something
28:22substance you know and he's a manager of substance as well because like with the greatest respect to what
28:29what was there before the the squad as a whole the you know the basis of it was there what we've
28:36seen the second half is the options to be able to really go and like find that cutting edge in the
28:41final third but they've got results so far in large part not through the quality that these likes of
28:47you know the the players that have been brought on it's through guts and determination and real hard
28:51work and will and have time and substitutions and that but if you look at the two first games the
28:57first two games of the season the game against aberdeen and dunge united in particular that braga
29:03aside that's pretty much the side that was you know was there and um that comes down to for me
29:09having a leader that actually knows what they're doing well a clear message a late scare there for
29:13the hearts fans but six and a half thousand of them through there singing in the rain we can see
29:18derek mckinnis absolutely drenched there celebrating with the hearts fans doing that
29:23amund veil pitch they're in very good voice the heart supporters as michael said three stands
29:27around that ground there what a an attendance and their team delivered in the end today although
29:32there was a real scare in that first half but he made the changes once again the hearts manager
29:37and his team delivered there this afternoon michael we were saying earlier on we're expecting an
29:41experienced goalkeeper to come in before the window closes but you feel they must must get a right back in
29:46it's a it is a must because it then opens up you know the the possibility to comfortably play
29:54the back four and or if you want to play the back three he can go and play his right wing back because
29:58at the moment you know you're trying to fit mackinty into a right wing back or a right back position
30:05he will do a job but it's not his position and he's not comfortable i'm i'm i'm it's it's a staggering
30:11kind of oversight but given the money that that that hearts have well given the james to i know
30:16they've brought him in but that's one they need a cup they need options well they had florister who
30:20they've obviously decided it was going out on loan and then he's got injured and it's
30:24question about whether they were but i'm not convinced that bocker i think is the standard that they want
30:29anyway or they need so i would suggest that yes they need to go out and get another right back
30:35right well let's let's get the the full-time reports we'll get around the grounds we'll bring you a
30:39classified score line as well we'll look at the league tables now we're a few games into the
30:44season and hopefully before we're off television at 25 past five we'll get some managerial reaction
30:50for you as well so let's start with that game through almonvale livingston against hearts alan
30:54preston it was a fantastic match it was a fantastic match ken a total game of two halves livingston
31:00dominated that opening period and took the lead in 26 minutes smith got the ball wide on the right
31:04right in the touch line he goes by milner's if he's not there cuts inside and his left foot shot
31:08went through finley's legs and beat clark at his near post then yenge had a shot saved your head
31:13also had an effort saved hearts very little in the opening period derrick mckinnis again makes
31:18another change at halftime change of shape as well when that instantly paid off because the readers
31:23are the cross well saved by prior for a corner from the result in corners a shot one
31:27moll took to kisaridas his cross there was braga running across the front with a flick header into the
31:32back of the net in 47 minutes kisaridas again to braga and his shot just wide
31:37then an astonishing miss by braga shankland the as you the new sign of the hearts are
31:42the keeper the keeper makes a good save it rolls it square to braga you think he's just got to tap
31:47into the net he somehow managed to fluff his lines and hit the post so you then think that that's going
31:51to be it's going to be one one but in the the 94th minute shankland to kisaridas and he opened his
31:57body up and just simply passed the ball into the bottom corner beyond prior unbelievable game really good
32:02finish for hearts they sit top of the league as we go tonight final score livingston one hearts two
32:07great game through there at almondvale also terrific match at fair park this afternoon motherwell at home
32:13to come on let's get the full-time report from tony docherty a fantastic game really enjoyed watching
32:19this spectacle today and it was uh i would say on in summation it was probably two points dropped from
32:24motherboat and a point gained away from home from command the game started with a real domination in
32:29terms of possession by motherwell that expansive style of play that they're doing but you know
32:33they went a goal behind you know i think they managed the game really well come on in those
32:37stages and hit them in a counter attack de genero daniels makes it one nothing and then they get
32:42dominance again as the game goes on mass when he equalizes uh for motherwell and then the second
32:47half really it was all motherwell you know they were they were so dominant i think the most influential
32:52player in the pitch elliot watt was you know making real strides into good positions and they managed to get
32:57that goal from emmanuel longello he put them 2-1 up and really were on the ascendancy brought on
33:02substitutes and reagan charles cook and and a callum henry and looked as if they were going to get
33:06another goal but utterly against they're on a plate there's a cross from deep comes in from lewis meal
33:11and the goalkeeper callum ward inexplicably drops one for george stanger he prod the ball into
33:17and an empty net and make it 2-2 and from then on colmarnock had a goal you know they brought on
33:21mali watkins and the game was in the balance but really i think motherwell should have been out of sight at 2-1 getting another
33:27goal but it just shows you football it's it's unpredictable and stuart kettlebell we're really
33:32pleased with a point away from home just now and i think the motherwell manager might be a bit
33:36disappointed because his team on the balance of play i think probably deserved to win it particularly in
33:41that period in the second half when they were 2-1 up yes stuart kettlebell as you say tony will be
33:45absolutely delighted with that point through there at fair park some great games today including in the
33:51championship let's get to chick young at east end park and firmland at home to ross county an absolute belter
33:57there for you this afternoon chick yep hill ronan hill this afternoon two fantastic goals for
34:02ross county gave them a point against in firmland and firmland looked of a grip in the game they
34:07went ahead just after just 22 minutes a wonderful goal from jeremiah chilekoa mullen a header inside
34:13the box just got it in beyond the goalkeeper to put the powers 1-0 ahead then ronan hill with a
34:19fabulous equalizer took the ball out the sky wonderful first touch and drove it beyond mason munn and
34:25the powers goal to make it one each at halftime zach rudden and his debut for dunfermline his ninth
34:30scottish club they made meeting an immediate hero with the past fans 4828 inside the ground today
34:38incidentally zach rudden put dunfermline to one ahead was then subbed but ronan hill wasn't finished he
34:43scored another goal to equalize a glorious piece of skill again he really is sharp and what a touch
34:50he's got on the football and drove it into the net to put ross county uh level 2-2 2-2 it finished on
34:56the afternoon point apiece ross county still anchored i think at the bottom of the table this evening
35:01kenny 2-2 it's been a great game down there for chick this afternoon we'll bring you the tables a little
35:08later in the program let's get to mcdermid park in perth st johnson home to morton get the full-time
35:13report from willie miller yeah kenny um st johnson they lose their 100 league record
35:19this afternoon um you know only managing to get the one one draw plenty of the ball absolutely first
35:25half domination and but it was a morton that in 22 minutes and eamon brofey it was a magnificent
35:32strike from brofey left hand side 25 yards out he just looks up and he sees the the top corner begging
35:39to be hit and he he does it his accuracy is absolutely superb it's got great pace on it's
35:44got a bit of curl towards the end as well no chance whatsoever for the goalkeeper the the pattern of
35:50the game was basically in dougie emery setting up his team a four five one to defend and they defended
35:56superbly uh throughout in the second half mcpake has had two uh really good efforts again all long
36:03range efforts so one just passed the post one actually rattling off the post um as well mclean
36:09another long ranger just flashed past the post as well but late on it was josh mcpake that
36:16eventually got the the strike comes in from the left it's on his right foot instead of going across
36:21the goalkeeper he goes to the near post drills it with a lot of venom into the the back of the net
36:27low and hard to give him that equalizer as you can imagine st johnson pushed on
36:32diabati had a 35 thunder wrist shot that was well shaved uh it had a header he really should have at
36:40least hit the target probably should have scored but at the end of the day it finished one one
36:44thanks to willie miller up there at mcdermott park let's get to the game at fir hill what a game this
36:50was part of thistle at home to wraith rovers let's get the full-time report from e mccall yeah it was a
36:55it was a thoroughly magic game i mean the first half was astounding in the last 25 minutes was was
37:00terrific i think wraith will be a little bit disappointed they're going away with a point but
37:04aiden fitzpatrick in irresistible form uh the first goal came seven minutes it was uh it was a
37:09cut down the left-hand side aiden fitzpatrick really good pace to get behind the defense he
37:13just squared that old-fashioned cut back tony watch slide in very very easy finish at this stage
37:19that's all really dominating and aiden fitzpatrick made it two nil after i think it was 14 minutes
37:24he just outpaces the fullback finished it really well uh though josh ray i'm thinking maybe he could
37:29have done better because he was beating his near post wraith gave themselves a shake and threw
37:33mcmullen and easton they got themselves back in the game the the first goal it's a great little one
37:39two into the the 18 yard box and i think it was a stonewall penalty when uh ashkoff brought down
37:44mcmullen dylan easton easily converted to make it 2-1 uh the equalizer came it was um paul mcmullen he
37:51ran through again again good pace he could have went down uh when the goalie challenged him stayed up
37:57and he's just cut it back where's matthews with an absolute tap and it was 2-2 at halftime the game
38:02kind of had a lull uh then kenny for 20 minutes but in 60 65 minutes there was a key moment in the game
38:09i thought uh vaughn was it a dive was it not a dive he didn't get a penalty and i thought he should just
38:15have taken a touching shot because he had a free free strike from 12 yards he was booked for his his
38:20trouble and did not get the penalty thistle went up the pitch and a big mistake from dylan easton he's
38:25knocked it into aiden fitzpatrick's path he's driven it right across goal and just at the the
38:30far end of the box logan chalmers like the opposite a good opposite wide man he's just coming in the
38:34back post and he knocks it into the net three two thistle wraith then finished i've got to say very
38:39very strong the two or three chances i mentioned paul mcmullen cut inside and rattled on off the inside
38:45of the bar chin crossed it into jack hamlet on the back post and he's really got his score and
38:50jordan dockery who was who was very impressive today uh got around the back post for wraith and
38:55and just hit the side netting with it i mean i think both these teams showed enough to me to say
39:00they're both finishing the top four and you know what one of them could well progress to win the title
39:05because they've got pace and strength and people that could put the ball in the net furhill
39:09finished part of thistle three wraith rovers two well you mccall certainly knows the stuff in terms of the
39:14championship let's get to air united against queens park and get the full-time report from rory
39:19yes indeed it finished one a piece here between air united and queens park both sides now drawn three
39:24games out of four losing the other so not a great start for either side however in the opening stages
39:30of this one air did start brightly um and they had a chance through curtis main who his weak header was
39:35saved by mitchell at the back post he had another chance in that first half with the head which was
39:40a much better opportunity he was running onto the pace was on the ball however he still wasn't able to
39:44convert that in between an oakley opportunity on the volley which was tipped around the corner
39:50by ferry on 35 minutes the opening goal of the game came to queens park fowler was tripped in the box
39:56by year it looked apparently every day of the week a penalty was given and fowler stepped up to score low
40:01to mitchell's right hand side into the second half and roddy mcgregor took advantage of a poor david mitchell
40:08clearance however his shot was in the end saved by mitchell if not convincingly uh chances again
40:14for main and oakley in the second half but neither could convert however on 83 minutes jude boner's
40:19strike from that dom thomas um cleared corner canon of matthew shield so much so that it actually went
40:26down as a matthew shield's own goal um and it did finish one a piece murmurs of discontent throughout the
40:31match from the home support however they didn't do enough to win the game so at the end of the day one
40:36point is better than none it finished one a piece thanks to rory alloy down there at somerset parks
40:40what we'll do we'll run through the classifieds for you we'll have a look at the scottish tables
40:45and right now on my screen here in the studio i can see a couple of managers derek mckinnis

41:39ross county two part of thistle three wraith rovers two st johnson one greenock morton one let's then
41:46have a look at the full-time scores in league one this afternoon inverness carrie thistle one aloe
41:52athletic nil montrose two peter head one queen of the south two kelty hearts one stennis muir one
41:59east fife one 5 30 start hamilton ackies at home to cove rangers and into league two before we have a
42:07look at the scores down in england for you today so in scottish league two clyde nil elgin city nil
42:13dumbarton one edinburgh city two east colbride five fourth athletic nil spartans one and an athletic nil
42:21sterling albion one strunrar nil and in england today there was a lunchtime kickoff down there and it
42:28was a victory for chelsea chelsea two fulham nil manchester united three burnley two a very late
42:35penalty there for the home side sunderland two brentford one tottenham hotspur nil bournemouth one
42:41wolves two everton three five thirty kickoff leeds united at home to newcastle united so let's then
42:49have a look at the tables for you today as i say we'll hopefully bring you derrick mckinnis and stuart
42:54kettle on the telly before we're off air this evening at 5 25 the conversation continues in bbc radio scotland
43:00right through until seven o'clock reaction to come from managers pundits and of course
43:05the fans so hearts top of the table this evening four games played ten points with a goal difference
43:10of plus four celtic and nine points they of course play tomorrow as do hibs looking at the bottom of
43:16the table aberdeen they play tomorrow but only two games played they have no points falkirk one point
43:22they play tomorrow as dude and d united so very early days of course but hearts their fans six and a
43:27half thousand off them this afternoon through amund vale delighted great scenes at the end so let's
43:33then have a look at the championship title favorite st johnson hill today at home to morton
43:38it was a late equalizer for simu valakari said they're top of the table on ten points but very
43:43very tight wraith rovers seven or both seven great start to the campaign for them after being promoted
43:49and part at thistle on seven points emacall tipping rovers and thistle to be right up there
43:53come the end of the season at the bottom of the table airdrie two points perhaps a surprise
43:59ross county with two points down there as well and into scottish league one we'll have a look at
44:04the table there of course the very very early stages of the season we'll get that league one table up for
44:10you in just a minute or two's time there's a late kickoff in that one of course as we told you it's a
44:155 30 start this evening in the game there between hamilton ackeys and cove rangers with queen of the
44:21south top of the table five games played they've got ten points aloha nine points they've got a game in
44:26hand they lost away in vaness carrie thistle this afternoon cove rangers i say they've got that
44:315 30 start they're badly in need of points four games played just one point their bottom
44:37off the table and having a look at the table in league two for you this afternoon there's no doubt
44:43at all the title favorites where east colbride it was a slow start for them they lost the rope in the
44:48game they won four in the trot they've played five 12 points but spartans keeping pace they've also got
44:5312 points it's tight below them and of course edmund city that massive points deduction they
44:58are bottom of the table so plenty more to bring you on bbc radio scotland of course and the television
45:05we're on bbc one right through until 5 25 so let's now hear from the hearts manager he'll be absolutely
45:13delighted really tough conditions through there at almond vale this afternoon well done to the hearts
45:17fans six and a half thousand there and they saw a very late winner let's now hear from the hearts
45:23manager derek another late late show again um another victory however uh your thoughts overall
45:30and how the game panned out i thought we were absolutely fine in the game first half i thought we
45:35we set up with a team to try and make sure we got a foot hold on it and to nullify livingston's threat
45:41um but one shot on the goal it's got to be defended better to allow we've done a video yesterday on
45:49young smith about driving on the pitch and he should be driving into bodies we should do him better to
45:53show him outside and too simplistic that goal against us and then all of a sudden it puts everything you
46:00start to question everything that affects us a wee bit for five or ten minutes we don't play with enough
46:04purpose we don't play with enough invention enough enough risk first half um you spoke about ahead of the
46:10game about trying to get a 90 minute performance the performance was okay we were fine dealing with
46:15livingston's longer ball up with a big uh the front lot um but i just thought we uh as soon as we go
46:22behind um we we look a bit ordinary and a bit spooked and we needed to we needed half time really to get
46:29it going i think the change of shape helped us but it wasn't just that there was far more competitiveness
46:34for second balls it was far more uh intent to pass forward far more intent to switch the play far more
46:41intent to put the ball in the box and we started the second half like an absolute train and we never
46:46really let up the whole second half and we had a couple of wee scares and we gave away a couple of cheap
46:51free kicks and things the game was two stop start and just when you think really get into a rhythm to
46:57try and get that one and goal every every foul seemed to be every challenge seemed to be a free
47:03kick the referee blown forever and fed up hearing his whistle it was like um times from the chance to
47:09play advantage he blows up and stops it he stops a player um for livingston who's down with an ankle
47:15injury he stops it because he thinks it's a head knot got to be better than that and you know i'm just
47:19thinking the game's a bit stop start towards the the end of the game the fans were choking for that
47:24winger we're all trying to suck that ball over the line we missed a brilliant chance with bragging against
47:29the post but i still thought there was another one coming and thankfully wee kizzy um comes up with
47:34that derrick mckinnis there there was us thinking that the referees had done well across scotland this
47:39afternoon we've not spoken with them much this season which is of course a very good thing alan
47:43presson is through it i'm unveiled for us alan terrific scenes as we said there at the end with
47:47the traveling support derrick mckinnis said it was really really poor that first goal that lost and
47:52they actually almost were made to pay at the end as well because it was shocking defending and
47:56actually livingston should have equalized right at the death yeah ahead of mclennan late on in what
48:0095 minutes after hearts went two and up and just touching on the referee i just counted back nine
48:05yellow cards wasn't a really a dirty game but there was nine yellow cards in it so maybe derrick's got a
48:10point there um the hearts deserve to win i think just on the balance first half they were never in it
48:15really never created anything but livingston created two or three chances the goal is cheap moan has to do
48:21better when he's got the smith wide on the right on the touchline can't let him cut inside and drive
48:26at the center of his defense and then hits the ball through finley's legs and beats clark at his near
48:31post maybe clark's a bit suspect going down give him the benefit of the doubt and then in the second
48:36half he makes the changes again and that's now eight changes in four games at halftime and they pay off
48:41instantly because they read us it just gave them energy it just took people on he got two bylines he
48:46whipped in across for braga's header um and then braga as derrick touched on should have scored
48:50uh certainly it was really good play by hearts of jews through the news the new record signings
48:55through with the keeper the keeper makes a good save it rolls square to braga and you think just
48:59go and hit it into the back of the net and he somehow hits the ball off the outside of the post and then
49:03and the final seconds it was a scrappy clearance from livingston and it goes to the edge of the box
49:08shanklin rolls it square and wait till you see the finish kentle you've probably seen it now
49:12but the finish because they read us with it inside of his right foot it sort of sets it outside the
49:17post and it curls into the bottom corner wonderful finish and the six and a half thousand hearts fans
49:22that are away home happy went crazy at that point they can't keep doing this but imagine if hearts get
49:26it right for the first whistle yeah very interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks and hearts
49:31top off the scottish premiership table this evening you can watch all the action on sports in this evening
49:36the bbc scotland channel from 7 15 so you'll catch that and of course four games tomorrow
49:41covered on sports scene tomorrow evening so a great victory for hearts 2-1 through at livingston
49:47to finish two apiece at fur park between motherwell and culmarnock let's now hear from the
49:51culmarnock manager stuart kettlewell stuart em talk us through that how are you feeling after that one
49:58that was eventful em it was really eventful i felt em you know we we scored a brilliant goal em we scored a
50:05really good goal get our noses in front probably feel we can be a wee bit more proactive when you do that
50:09em and then it just comes down to a bit of game management you know towards the end of the first
50:13half we're in possession of the ball it's a turnover we know motherwell have got pace in
50:17their team on that turnover of the ball em and i think we can handle it far better and just manage
50:22the last few seconds and a half out and get in one nil regroup em and and try and see if we can improve
50:27in the second half with a with a lead and we don't and it's always that body blow when you can see the
50:31goal at that time in a in a game of football em and in second half you know i thought we started the
50:37initial few minutes as the team on top and then i thought motherwell really kind of took control
50:41uh and you lose another goal for a turnover which is frustrating we're defensive organization or
50:46decision making um but you know i have to praise the players i thought their personality get back in
50:50the game and maybe even win it towards the end there with a chance and the the dying embers um yeah
50:56they've showed brilliant personality come to a team that are playing really well difficult venue difficult
51:00place to play uh and uh you know we come out with the point and we'll absolutely take it and i definitely
51:05think that we can play better uh as as my main thought process yeah i suppose maybe with the
51:11would the thought process be that the first 20 minutes shows what you can do as a team yeah yeah
51:15and we're just we're trying to encourage the the players just to show a little bit more bravery in
51:21possessing the ball and you know i'm not throwing them under the bus here but we just felt there were
51:24so many occasions throughout the game not just the first half or or the second half em where we can move
51:29that extra few yards just to give an extra option and possessing the ball simple terms you know retain it for
51:34longer i feel at times as if it was a race to go and try and score a goal and where we can actually
51:38settle into it and play in better areas um but as i say we're we're not perfect we're a work in
51:43progress and uh i genuinely believe that the players will continue to get better at what i'm asking them
51:48to do um but in doing that you need to try and pick up results and make sure that you're difficult to
51:53play against and we've done that um and you know we move on to the next one or we move into the international
51:58break as we spoke about still undefeated um but still in a position where we're not comfortable with
52:04ourselves we we believe that we could and should have had more points um but today it could have
52:08been less at one stage as well and we showed character to take it back in it yeah solid start
52:13to the season for the commandant manager shoot ketwell there let's now hear from the motherwell boss jens
52:17bertel asku jens just give me your reflections on that game uh great dominance throughout the entire game
52:26uh obviously it's difficult to keep them away from from chances at all it's just a matter of how big
52:33they will become how often they will come and then are they able to to uh to take them which they were
52:41today uh i think we in many ways play a very good game i think we are on a front foot uh and maybe at
52:49times in the first half a little bit too desperate in the way we try to recover and win the ball back when we
52:55lose it so we open up some spaces especially around the first goal that we don't have to
53:00uh but then we we we get it back in the game straight after with good control a good goal
53:06and we chase we get the lead we're in full control and then anything can happen in football we've seen
53:11that many times uh for me it's it's one of these 50 50 where if the referee sees the notch uh then he
53:19will give a foul jens bertel asku there are some fantastic games tomorrow the action continues today the
53:25action continues tomorrow fantastic look forward to old firm derby kicks us off michael stuart tom
53:30in the studio if russell martin loses tomorrow at home to sell it does he keep his job tom i don't
