00:17to approve Waterlily's planning application for a new three and four storey building
00:22featuring 96 bedrooms for a care home on the site of the former Derwent House residential home
00:27on Alverston Road at Newbold. The care home is to be built on 5,500 square metres of
00:33Brownfield grassland previously occupied by the three storey Derwent House which was demolished
00:38in 2014. Concerns have been raised about the scale of the building for the size of the plot
00:43as well as the impact of the care home on local traffic and parking. However an agent representing
00:49Waterlily said the proposed development has been designed to respond sensitively to its context
00:54meeting the needs of an ageing population and complies with national and local planning policy.
00:59Any outstanding technical concerns such as noise, transport or lighting can be appropriately
01:05managed through planning conditions if deemed to be necessary.
01:10Officers from Derbyshire Police have arrested 11 women as part of an operation to target an
01:15organised group of shoplifters operating across four counties. Specialist teams made the arrest
01:20as part of a series of eight warrants executing in Nottinghamshire. The suspects were arrested on
01:25suspicion of committing a series of high-value shoplifting offences across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire,
01:30Leicestershire and Staffordshire including in Chesterfield, Belper, Long Eaton and Ilkeston.
01:36A number of suspects were also arrested in relation to drugs offences, weapons possession and making
01:41counterfeit money. The two-day enforcement operation was led by specialist officers from the Derbyshire
01:47Police's Neighbourhood Acquisitive Crime Team with support from officers from Nottingham,
01:51Leicestershire and Staffordshire forces. Derbyshire Sergeant Conquest of Derbyshire's Police
01:56Acquisitive Crime Team said,
01:57The purpose of the enforcement action has been focused to target criminals committing organised
02:03retail crime impacting four counties. Organised retail theft is not a victimless crime.
02:09It is estimated to have cost the UK £1.8 billion last year alone.
