Tim and Moby looks like a different versions.
Transcript
00:00uh look a letter dear tim and moby i was watching a nature show on tv about dolphins and they said
00:17that dolphins have bigger brains than humans is this true are dolphins smarter than people
00:21yours truly ethan p.s does moby have a brain yeah but it keeps it in the jar ethan it's true that
00:27some kinds of dolphins have larger brains than humans but that doesn't necessarily make them
00:31smarter scientists think that intelligence is more about the complexity of your brain than its size
00:36your brain is the most complex thing you own it's made up of billions of nerve cells that control
00:41everything in your body your brain controls all of your actions including the ones you don't have
00:45to think about like keeping your heart beating your brain is also what lets you think and remember
00:49all that work takes a lot of energy even though your brain weighs less than three pounds it uses up
00:54to twenty percent of the oxygen you breathe the brain is divided into three parts the forebrain
01:00the cerebellum and the brainstem the cerebrum the largest part of the forebrain is where you think
01:06it's divided into two halves called hemispheres some psychologists believe that in most people
01:11one hemisphere is dominant to say that someone is left-brained might mean that they excel at math
01:16and science and right brain people are supposedly better at art and writing the thalamus is also part
01:22of the forebrain it's like the brain switchboard passing information from your body to the correct
01:26part of the brain another part of the forebrain the hypothalamus controls your body temperature and
01:32food intake without the hypothalamus you'd keep eating and never feel full more
01:37the cerebellum coordinates your body's movements
01:41then there's the brain stem it monitors and controls all the little functions that keep you
01:48alive your heartbeat breathing blood pressure and whatnot i know moby it's a ton of information but
01:54the brain does a lot of work if you didn't have a brain you'd be dead oh right dolphins well now that
01:59we know a little more about the brain you can understand why it's hard to compare dolphin
02:02intelligence to human intelligence dolphin brains are bigger but the parts of their brains where
02:07conscious thinking occurs are very small so i don't think you'll be seeing dolphins in school with
