00:00Hello, good morning, welcome to your latest forecast from the Met Office.
00:04Today marks the last day of meteorological summer 2025 and, well, low pressure's in charge of our weather.
00:11It's more of an autumnal feel out there. We've seen bands of rain and heavy showers push across the country.
00:16Some fairly brisk winds, particularly in the west as well, and that's going to continue over the next few days into September as low pressure continues to dominate.
00:26This morning, though, quite a bright start, a dry start, plenty of sunny spells, but fairly brisk winds.
00:31We do have showers across the south and the west first thing, and as we go through the day, the showers become more widespread across the country.
00:38We could see some heavy downpours, the odd rumble of thunder, but in between, plenty of sunny spells and in the sunshine, away from the breeze, it will be fairly pleasant.
00:48Temperatures around the high teens to low 20s, 22, 23 possible in the best of the sunshine towards southern and southeastern parts.
00:55Cooler further north and west, where we've got the strongest winds and the higher chance of seeing some longer spells of rain in Northern Ireland, Western Scotland.
01:02We could see gusts here at 40 to 50 miles an hour, perhaps locally 60 along some eastern coast of Northern Ireland, southwest Scotland too.
01:09So it could lead to some local disruption and breezy elsewhere as well.
01:14And those showers continue as we head into the evening time.
01:16Again, still some heavy downpours possible.
01:19Showers merging into some longer spells of rain later this evening across parts of Scotland, Northern England, down into Wales and the West Country as we head overnight.
01:27Some rumbles of thunder possible.
01:29Clearer spells most likely across parts of the East Midlands, Eastern England, into East Anglia.
01:33But even here, a few showers are possible.
01:36And a breezy night for everyone.
01:37So temperatures staying up in double figures.
01:39Generally around 12 to 15 Celsius.
01:42So not a cold start to Monday morning.
01:45First of September, the first day of meteorological autumn.
01:47And with low pressure in charge, it really will feel like that.
01:51We'll see showers across the whole of the country.
01:53Some of them will be heavy at times.
01:55Some hail, some thunder in there.
01:56But in between some sunny spells.
01:58Showers most frequent in the further north and west you are.
02:00But being blown in on quite a brisk wind.
02:04So they will move through fairly quickly.
02:06And temperatures around average for the time of year.
02:09High teens to low 20s across much of the UK.
02:12And those showers will continue into the evening.
02:14And in fact, much of the week ahead as well.
02:17It's looking fairly unsettled.
02:19Low pressure generally in charge.
02:21We'll see showers, longer spells of rain.
02:23Perhaps Wednesday looking a slightly drier day at this stage.
02:26But overall, the unsettled theme continues.
02:29And temperatures around average.
02:31Generally, the high teens to low 20s for many of us.
