00:00A businessman told the Sessions Court in Lim Guaneng's Undersea Tunnel Project corruption trial

00:06that he paid the then-Penang chief minister 2 million ringgit in cash eight years ago.

00:12Gene Anarajas said he handed 1 million ringgit to Lim on August 18, 2017 in Mount Kiara,

00:17with a second payment being made when Lim visited his home 11 days later.

00:22He said the purpose of the visit was to discuss setting up a company and a bank account

00:27to handle matters relating to the Undersea Tunnel Project.

00:31Anarajas said Lim arrived in the early hours of August 29 with businessman Zarul Ahmad Zulkifli,

00:37who later told Anarajas to use the company Bumi Muhiba Capital Holdings Senjang Berhad in paying Lim.

00:44According to Anarajas, he was told he would be a suitable person for managing funds

00:49that would be channeled to the Bagan MP as he was not a member of any political party.

00:54Anarajas also said Lim expressed a desire for the bank account open to receive about 13 million ringgit

01:01with the funds coming via Zarul, who agreed to Lim's request for a 10% share from the Undersea Tunnel Project.

01:08Lim is accused of using his position as Penang chief minister to solicit a 10% share of profits

01:13from the Undersea Tunnel Project and receiving RM3.3 million in bribes from Zarul alongside two charges

01:20of dishonestly misappropriating RM208.7 million worth of state land.
