Speaking ahead of the clash, Warriors manager Leon Johnson told Saint Lucia-based commentator Dr. Joseph "Reds" Perreira that his team is fired up and ready for tonight's contest.
00:00You've got to go after the St. Lucia, which is going to be kind of the toughest game with the backing of the St. Lucia and the defending champions.
00:11And then you've got to play in Trinidad with some important matches.
00:15Yeah, I think every game is important, especially on the road.
00:18You know, if we come on the road and we always try and get as many points as we could get going back home to Guyana,
00:23because obviously the schedule there is very hectic.
00:26So when you get there, you probably want to be in a good position where, you know, you don't have to exhort yourself.
00:33Maybe you could give a couple of important plays or rest here and there,
00:36because we play six games in a matter of 12 days between Barbados and Guyana.
00:42Yeah.
00:44You mean Lourdes certainly did brilliant in the last game, but you might like to have a little more consistency at the top.
00:51Yeah, it is imperative that you get good starts.
00:56Two games, you know, we were two for one.
00:58And then this game we were nine for one in the second over.
01:01It is something that has been our Achilles heel actually over the last two to three seasons.
01:07Good opening combinations.
01:08But I think as the tournament goes on, the guys will come good at the top of the order.
01:13And, you know, once they set that platform, you see what, how dangerous we are in the middle.
01:19The middle order is very dangerous.
01:21Very happy with the bowling?
01:23Yes, I am.
01:24I always feel there's always room for improvement, especially with the extras.
01:29I think we've, you know, we bowl too many extras in the two games.
01:34I think, you know, against different opposition, you know, they might put you on a bit more pressure if you concede all those extras.
01:41So it's something for us to work on early days in the tournament.
01:44I'm sure the guys are good enough to fix that issue.
01:48I think that's the idea.
