US President Donald Trump confirmed a fresh call with Vladimir Putin following meetings with Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders, while Western allies step up pressure for stronger security guarantees and renewed peace talks in Ukraine.

00:05after meeting Ukraine's Vladimir Zelensky and European leaders in Washington last week.
00:11He describes his conversations with Putin as positive,
00:14but admits he gets frustrated when attacks still follow in Kiev or elsewhere.
00:22The last known call between Trump and Putin was on August 18th.
00:26That's when Trump briefly stepped out of White House talks with Zelensky and European officials to call the Russian president.
00:34And over to State Department, Secretary of State Marco Rubio joined a call on Monday with Ukraine's foreign minister
00:39and his counterparts from Britain, France, Finland, Germany, Italy, Poland and the European Union,
00:45where they all agreed to keep pushing together on diplomatic efforts toward a lasting settlement.
