00:00Hello and welcome to this New South Wales Janesweather update for Monday.
00:04There is a band of moisture that is pouring in from the northwest there from the Indian Ocean.
00:09That's forming a cloud band which has some rain in it.
00:12Back to its west, you can see all the speckled cloud in through here indicating just how cold the air is.
00:17All of this here is heading over to the east.
00:19Now, this will be a western part of the rangers system, not the east.
00:23The east coast gets to take a break apart from the cold winds that will develop as the week goes on.
00:28So, let's have a look at day by day what to expect here.
00:31Where is the high pressure?
00:32It's now up through here.
00:33It's tacked at bags.
00:34It's no longer in the southeast.
00:35It's moving northwards, allowing these weather systems to come through.
00:39So, if you have friends to the west or into the southeast here that are desperate for rain,
00:43this is the week for them because it will be system after system that just keeps on coming through.
00:47Why is that?
00:48Where is the other high pressure system?
00:50It's way off the page here.
00:52It is well west of Perth.
00:53So, there's this huge area in there of low pressure that's just going to keep on coming through.
00:57Okay, so, by the end of Monday, the cold front is up through here.
01:01We've got a band of rain here.
01:02We're not seeing in New South Wales just yet.
01:04Let's move into Tuesday.
01:05By the end of Tuesday, the cold front is running down the middle in through here from the northwest into the southeast.
01:11In behind that, we've got some colder air.
01:13We've got some wet weather with that one as well.
01:15So, this as it comes through during the day on Tuesday.
01:18Have a look at Wednesday.
01:19Look how it builds as it heads into the rangers here and then dies as it moves across.
01:24So, it dissipates as it moves into the east coast.
01:26This is not an east coast system.
01:29It's not a northern system.
01:30It is a southwestern system up into the rangers in through here.
01:34From Wednesday onwards, there is some cold air with this one.
01:37Look at the fetch.
01:38What I mean by fetch, think about this as like road, markings on a road.
01:42The air is literally coming up from near Antarctica and so we're going to feel that as it comes through.
01:47So, there's Wednesday.
01:48Just watch it.
01:49Keep on coming.
01:50There is Thursday.
01:51Let's watch it into Friday and then into Saturday.
01:55So, day after day, wet weather system after wet weather system, not affecting the east coast in through here.
02:01That is going to add up as we've got such a long stretch of this in through here.
02:05Anything yellow is 25 to 50.
02:07So, let's just move into these parts here.
02:09We've got 10 to 15 as we move through the Riverina here.
02:1215 to 25 millimetres.
02:14This is over the next week through Monday.
02:16Anything yellow?
02:1725 to 50.
02:18As we move up into the rangers?
02:1950 to 75.
02:20100.
02:21Maybe even 150.
02:22200 millimetres.
02:24Yes, in the Alps, that will start as rain, but it will shift to snow as the time goes on from Wednesday onwards.
02:29And once it changes, it is cold for the rest of the thing.
02:32So, lovely falls happening through there.
02:34Then watch it rapidly dry out as it heads into the east.
02:37The east coast is going to feel something, and it is the wind.
02:40It's not going to see it in terms of wet weather.
02:42It's not going to see it in terms of cloud.
02:44It will be sunny, but it will be a bitterly cold wind.
02:47Not yet.
02:48Not until that cold air arrives.
02:49So, here we have Sydney.
02:5021s, 22s, 23s.
02:52Lots of sunshine moving through here.
02:54I want to show you the temperatures, first of all.
02:5620, then 21 as we go through Thursday, Friday.
02:59That doesn't sound too bad.
03:0016 as we go through Saturday, but it's not a wet weekend.
03:03So, what's actually beneath this here that is causing this that we can't really see in terms of, hey, you talked a day of 21.
03:11Let's look at the dew point temperature.
03:12That's how much moisture is in the air, and that acts like a blanket to sort of keep us warm.
03:17So, 15s, 11s, yeah, that's pretty high.
03:21You can see this absolute plummeting of these dew point temperatures, indicating that the air is going to start to feel chilly.
03:27If you ever take a trip to Melbourne or into Tasmania and you feel that wind, that is what is coming up through here.
03:34There's no blanket of moisture to keep us warm.
03:36Okay.
03:37So, that arrives on Wednesday as that front goes through, and it sticks with us.
03:40So, what it means is here, top of 20, what is the feels like?
03:44This one here, that's more like the low teens.
03:47So, yeah, we're going to feel that.
03:49As we move into Saturday, that's the biggest one.
03:51So, 16, the temperature is already down, but it feels like, oh, that's in the single digits.
03:56How lovely.
03:57It's a gusty westerly wind that you're really going to feel.
04:00So, the east coast, no for the wet weather, yes for the cold wind.
04:04If you're heading further west, that's where the rain is going to go.
04:07As always, head to Calm Online Weather for the latest.
