00:0031 riders on the gate, let's go, and Prado gonna use that outside, on a track known for the inside, dominant starts, and guess who's got it for the inside, it's Jett Lawrence, yeah, not the start you wanted to see, but looks like Justin Cooper slides up in a second, he was very fast in that second practice, looks like he's gonna try to make the pass, on Jett Lawrence, let's see if the turn down for what, lead Justin Cooper got that pass up the inside,
00:29Jett fights back, yeah, Jett fights back, Prado I think, was around third, oh, Cooper going back after Lawrence, yeah, that's the respect right there, I thought Cooper would lean on him a little bit, but good to see him out here, especially this early in the race, he's had to pace the last few weekends and qualifying, but the last guy you want to see out front is that 18, and that's just been one of the tools in the bag for him, great starts, obviously the riding not too shabby, hey, we mentioned make it a career day,
00:59and you got Jack Rogers, the privateer starting in third, with RJ Hempshire right behind him, good on Rogers, here comes Hempshire, oh, hang on to it, yeah, RJ's been getting close last weekend, we saw him lead a couple laps for the first time in the 450 career, so for him, he has his pace, now he's got to try to transition that into some raised pace, but nice move by RJ, and you can see how these guys are starting to separate themselves, the guys that's got up front,
01:24well, you said that's a track thing, as Prado comes through next, but this track, separation quickly, yeah, I mean, you could, Jet Lawrence probably has, you know, 30 seconds over in last place at this moment, and it's only been a half a lap, but
01:37the weight practice, been good to see the number 70, Kawasaki up here, fighting for top five, let's see how this moto goes, but got Cody Schock behind him, and then it's, oh, Schock off the track,
01:49and I think Tomac and Dylan Ferrandez just took advantage, Schock needs every point, he's got to outscore Guillaume by nine today, yeah, well, it's a good start for him, even though he ran off the racetracks, good start,
01:59one guy that we're not used to being back here, is Hunter Lawrence, been fast the last few weekends, got his first overall a couple weekends ago, now he slides past Cody Schock behind Eli Tomac.
02:09All right, it's going to be fun to watch this group, Tomac, Lawrence, Ferrandez, battling just outside the top five, got Barsha around there as well, Tomac looking for running room on Ferrandez, the 2021 champion.
02:21Yeah, I'm really impressed with Eli, he's come out here, and I'm sure him not having an overall really bothers him, he's got an uphill battle trying to run down to 18,
02:29but so far, so good for Eli, he's making a pass, so he's around Ferrandez, he's 14 there on the Phoenix Racing Factory Connection, Honda, Hunter right behind him, then Schock, where is Guillaume, he's in 14, so he's still in range of Schock right now,
02:47they just want to stay close, Hunter looking to make a move on Ferrandez, and he's got it, not quite enough, yeah, that's where it really funnels in,
02:55and then Hunter could have been a little bit more aggressive, he needed to be, but he didn't want to hit his fellow comrade, Dylan Ferrandez, on the Honda.
03:02Yeah, these guys are good buddies, they go way back to their days living in Europe together, as Tomac's looking to make moves up ahead on Rogers.
03:10Yeah, back in the day when they were racing MXGP, Ferrandez was kind of a veteran rider on the team, and Hunter was a fresh face, a new kid coming out of Australia,
03:18Ferrandez really helped him learn the ropes, and they continue that relationship to this day,
03:23but right now, it's every man for himself on the track, and Rogers is in the thick of it.
03:27Yeah, Rogers is starting to learn, these guys are fast up here, but you can already see the separation between Dylan's,
03:33and he's already almost 11 seconds behind Jet Lawrence in one lap, so you can see that separation of not getting a start,
03:39and Dylan's, he's in fourth place right now.
03:42Schock battling with Lawrence as they tangle with Rogers.
03:46Watch Hunter around the outside.
03:48Yeah, he should have to pass Mayer right here.
03:50Nice move.
03:54Okay, so we'll reset the order, it's Jet Lawrence, Justin Cooper, Tobac third, Ferrandez fourth.
04:01Not sure, I saw Barsha and Prado around this group, not sure what happened to them,
04:05but they have drifted back, not sure if they went down, or they got tangled.
04:10JT, what have you heard or seen from the 70?
04:12Well, we're not seeing him on the leaderboard there, but I just wanted to verify, he is out there,
04:16he is just behind that pack, and he was running behind, he's trying to locate him on the race track,
04:21he's just behind RJ Hampshire, just in front of Eli Tomac, so don't trust that leaderboard for the moment,
04:26and I just wanted to mention on Prado, he was on that very outside gate, the middle of the start,
04:31it's incredibly deep, they've watered it and ripped it.
04:34Prado was on the very outside, he got up on the grass, and even though he had to go a much further distance,
04:38was able to accelerate much better, that's how he got down there,
04:41and even though it was kind of a rough morning, it ended up working out for him, he runs it for us at the moment.
04:46Yeah, it worked out, because they only had 40 routers, they had to add another gate to him,
04:50so he wasn't prepping the track for that last guy, but still, whatever,
04:54it's a better performance than what it was in practice, and I think with Jorge, at this moment,
04:58he just needs to just go out in there and ride, I mean, the guy's great, I mean, he's clearly in the top five right now,
05:03Eli Tomac's closing in, but the way that practice was, just go out there and just get a finish at this moment.
05:09Yeah, so, we'll ignore what we see on timing and scoring for the moment, Prado is clearly there,
05:14physically on the track, ahead of Tomac, and, yeah, 43rd, again, we thought he might be going to the last chance qualifier,
05:21but they did add the provisional rule back into the rule book a few years ago,
05:26top 10 in point, automatically get a gate in Moto 1, but they get the 41st gate out of 40,
05:32they'll actually add a gate on the outside, and Prado, a notoriously great starter,
05:37able to overcome that and get toward the front anyway.
05:40Yeah, I think that this track and the way it is a little bit harder to pass because he got a good start,
05:44it's going to help him out, and they're first this weekend, so the track's going to be a little bit smoother,
05:49so hopefully Jorge has the best scenario of turning a bad day into a decent day because of where he started at
05:56and with track conditions.
05:57And there are some rumors swirling about Tomac and that relationship with Kawasaki,
06:02it's clearly not been up to either his or their standards in his debut season with them,
06:06and what could be the future for them as Tomac puts the heat on.
06:10Yeah, let's see what Eli does as he's square him up, or to go around the outside of Jorge,
06:15it attracts a little slippery right now, so see what Eli does.
06:19Jorge gets through that section pretty good, but if Eli scrubs it, he should have the inside.
06:24A little fight from number 70, good seed.
06:27There you go, hanging in there as Lawrence, Cooper, Hampshire, and then these two battling.
06:34Tomac dumps some of that roost at the bottom of the hill, pop back over the top.
06:38Yeah, unless Jorge makes a mistake right here, he's going to be stuck behind him, Eli.
06:42He's going to be stuck behind Jorge for the next couple of turns,
06:44maybe have another opportunity if he gets close to him, maybe try to charge down this hill,
06:48but you can see how difficult it is for these guys to pass
06:51and how much time they're losing to the leaders because he's stuck behind them.
06:58And because Prado is known as such a good starter,
07:00he knows how to deal with pressure with riders behind him,
07:04and you saw him make it tough on Tomac a few times.
07:07Not dirty here, but Tomac's having to work for it.
07:10Yeah, another place, Eli's going to have to funnel back in, not really fast,
07:16and because it tracks a little smooth, some of these lines haven't formed in.
07:21You can see Jorge go, nice pass by Eli.
07:24Now let's see if he can go to work and try to close that gap to RJ, JT.
07:28Yeah, just a little update, we're trying to figure out why Jorge Prado wasn't showing up on time against scoring.
07:33Remember, we have 41 riders in this field, which we're not used to,
07:37so I think there's a little bit of a disruption between what they're scheduled to pick up
07:41and start transponders and what we actually have.
07:43Well, we can see it, and we're going to have to use it old school right now,
07:46just use our eyes to know he's right there, now battling with Ferrandez.
07:51I believe that's Hunter Lawrence.
07:52Oh, it's Hunter Lawrence got by the Honda, so he did get around Ferrandez.
07:55Boom, just like that, he's around Prado.
07:58Yeah, that is one of the parts of the track that you can't make some pass,
08:02but Jorge is already starting to look back, and this has been the troubles with him the last few weekends.
08:08Once he gets passed, just that something goes wrong, and it just continues to slot back,
08:12but maybe he can regroup this moto.
08:14Yeah, that was it at Unadillo.
08:15Once he got to around this spot, fifth or sixth, then the bottom really dropped out in that first moto.
08:21You talked about it.
08:22When you're a rider of his standard, which is winning races and titles,
08:26it's a lot to deal with when it starts going backwards like that.
08:29Yeah, it is.
08:30I mean, everything that Jorge is going through right now is all emotions.
08:33It's an emotional, mental thing, and he wants to be up here battling with Eli Tomat, Hunter Lawrence,
08:38and he should be.
08:39I mean, he's that good of a rider, but once that thing starts spiraling,
08:43you're starting to see it, and this is really a hard mental battle for Jorge to deal with at this moment.
08:49See if Lawrence can make tracks toward Tomat, or if they can work together to get to Hampshire,
08:55who would be next in line as they have left Prado behind.
09:00I mentioned Barsha had a good start.
09:01He was up there now battling with shock just behind that group.
09:04Yeah, it looks like my brother got around Cody's right ahead of him, so Cody's going to have his hands full.
09:11Once you get a good start, you're going to have these guys continue.
09:15Justin Barsha behind you, and you've got other guys coming,
09:17but he did the most important part would be in front.
09:21Let's see how this thing ends for him.
09:22He's going to make an opening, but yeah, Cody did the right thing.
09:36Justin had that inside, and you know he's going for that front end,
09:38but Justin's been having some pace all day.
09:40He looked good in practice, and so far, this motor, he looks good,
09:43and next rider in front of him will be the Husqvarna rider of my brother, 27, Malcolm Stewart.
09:48JT, what are we thinking on 37?
09:50Well, you think about Justin Barsha, who's right in front of him last week.
09:53He had that hometown crowd working for him.
09:55Well, that's the case for Cody Shock, and there are not many riders in pro motocross,
09:59if any, that are from the state of Delaware, but Cody Shock is,
10:02so he was talking about in qualifying earlier that he felt like AP.
10:05He felt like he had an entire crowd screaming his name,
10:08so that's got to add a little bit of adrenaline.
10:10Let's see if he can use it to chase Barsha back down.
10:12Yeah, pretty funny when he was talking before qualifying with Haley,
10:16said he'd like to have that Aaron Plessinger vibe just here.
10:19Aaron gets cheered everywhere he goes, one of the most popular riders in the sport,
10:22but today the Delaware native is home track here in Maryland.
10:25He's got some fan support, and it's a little bit quieter up front.
10:29No bikes around.
10:31Shet Lawrence checking out.
10:33Yeah, it looks a lot of no motivation out there right now.
10:38Yeah, that's what you said.
10:39See him?
10:39No motivation.
10:41So Justin Cooper, who has clinched the number one seed for the playoffs, second,
10:46but he might have company.
10:48R.J. Hefshire, who never stops digging, is keeping the 32 honest.
10:53Yeah, R.J. is starting to close up on Justin,
10:56even though Justin was a little bit faster that last lap,
10:58it seems like R.J. has figured his last first part of this section now.
11:03See if he can keep it going.
11:05Then it's Hunter.
11:06So where is Tomac?
11:09Yeah, it looks like Hunter got around Eli.
11:11I see Eli up about a couple seconds behind Hunter Lawrence.
11:15So I don't know if he went down or...
11:18Or if he made the pass, there is the four-time 450 ProBotocross champ.
11:24Lost some ground.
11:26Yeah, not only was he ahead, but he had a couple bike lengths,
11:30and now he's behind and with a gap.
11:33Yeah, I think by his riding the position and this next lap on Eli
11:37to tell you how much did he go down
11:40or something else is going on with the motorcycle.
11:43And there's Prado.
11:45Like I said, a lot of rumors about he has a multi-year deal
11:47with his team, but people are starting to wonder,
11:50will they stay together for next year just the way this has gone?
11:56And stay tuned.
11:58I mean, we could get to Anaham and he could still be on a Kawasaki
12:00at the beginning of 2026.
12:03Veranda's starting to close on in Haley.
12:05Yeah, and speaking with multiple members from the team,
12:07they're excited to have him back.
12:09It was a great start two rounds ago,
12:10solid progression last week with Godzilla.
12:12But maybe most importantly of the team is what he brings to the paddock.
12:15Everything he does is so calculated and with intention
12:18is that they like that impression that that has on his teammates.
12:22So as we see him battling here with the number seven of Jorge Prado.
12:25So Dylan Ferrandez extremely calculated.
12:28Yeah, thanks, Haley.
12:29And he nearly made that move, but Prado able to hold him off.
12:33Yes, there are some younger 250 riders under that tent with Phoenix Honda.
12:37And good to have the veteran back.
12:39Can't quite solve Prado at the moment.
12:42Yeah, he's more clearly a lot faster.
12:45But at this moment, Dylan's not going to be able to pass him
12:48the way it is part of the racetrack.
12:50But the way Jorge's kind of sitting up,
12:51he should have the pass just going down this hill.
12:55A little battle between these two, believe it or not,
12:56in the playoff seating, even though they both missed a lot of racing this year,
13:00Prado missed most of Supercross with a shoulder injury.
13:03Ferrandez missed time with a leg injury and illness in motocross.
13:07And they're only five points apart in the battle for playoff seating.
13:11And Ferrandez wants to make a difference in the map right here
13:15if he can make this pass.
13:16Haley.
13:17Dylan Ferrandez likes this position.
13:19He likes having a parent to chase, so to speak.
13:22He's known for that in qualifying.
13:23He likes to have someone in front of him to assess what lines they're taking
13:26and then put that to work later on.
13:28So something to chase, something to analyze.
13:30Hey, this title year, I was calling it the Dylan Danger Zone.
13:33Once you saw his fenders start to poke into the screen and close,
13:38no one was able to stop him.
13:39So maybe a smaller version of that here.
13:42It's not for the lead.
13:43But he's trying to make it happen on Prado.
13:46Yeah, as you could tell, Dylan was starting to get frustrated
13:48because he was going in a spot where you couldn't pass him.
13:51But now the track opens up.
13:53And to your point, I think Dylan's been riding really good
13:56ever since he came back from the injury.
13:57He needed that little break to refresh himself.
13:59And maybe not that version of that title,
14:02but definitely a good sign for the number 14 Honda.
14:06Yeah, better than we've seen in a while.
14:07Now here comes your brother, Malcolm Stewart.
14:09Again, a career day for him would make a huge difference
14:12in that playoff seating.
14:13He needs points.
14:14Prado looks over.
14:15Knows he has another battle.
14:17Yeah, Malcolm's good.
14:18When I was racing him years back,
14:20he actually took me out on this racetrack.
14:21So he better have that career pass out here.
14:26So he needs to score 31 points today.
14:30And if he gets a position like this in each moto,
14:33that would pretty much do it.
14:35And he could leapfrog some riders in the standings
14:38and also hold others back.
14:40One of the few, actually, Malcolm,
14:41that's raced all the races this year.
14:43He and Justin Cooper.
14:44Yeah, Malcolm's been steady and really getting better.
14:48And I think this, hopefully this, today,
14:50if he can have a good ride,
14:52really spawns him on going into these playoffs, JT.
14:55Watching dueling battles.
14:56And on the bottom, you see RJ Hampshire
14:58desperately trying to chase down Justin Cooper.
15:01And RJ, you know, a lot of these guys talk about this racetrack
15:03and why do they like it?
15:05You think about why is it Malcolm Stewart's
15:07best racetrack historically?
15:09And a lot of it comes down to the soil composition.
15:11This racetrack most closely resembles
15:14what these riders would practice on
15:16in Florida throughout the week.
15:18So I know it was the case from talking to you, James.
15:20It was certainly the case for me.
15:21It was where I got my best results ever.
15:24And it's just that comfort level.
15:25You know what the bike's going to do.
15:27From the first lap out there,
15:28everything just feels like a little bit of home.
15:31So it's not a surprise to me
15:32to see RJ Hampshire really pushing forward.
15:35Yeah, 100%.
15:35And like you said, it's just that knowing
15:38that the soil you can read is very predictable.
15:40And yeah, it might be predictable
15:44as Jorge might be getting the business
15:46if he keeps doing this to my brother right here.
15:49He's doing a good job at fighting,
15:51but some people you just,
15:52you don't really want to fight.
15:54That 27 is not that guy.
15:57Yeah, we've seen him get into it
15:58with other riders if they start it, for sure.
16:00All right, we're halfway through this.
16:01Mono Reminder, Monster Energy available now.
16:04Inside Lines available now.
16:05And Malcolm says,
16:07you're not going to do that to me twice.
16:08Yeah, Jorge realized he ain't bought that light.
16:10So you can tell.
16:12And I think for the hard part for Malcolm,
16:14you know when another guy's starting to struggle
16:16and they're just slowing you down on purpose.
16:18And I think that's a little bit
16:19of the case that's going on with the number 70.
16:22If you're going to slow somebody down,
16:24do not do it to this man.
16:25The 51 of Justin Barsha,
16:27probably the most aggressive guy on the track.
16:30Yeah, he might just do it
16:32just because he saw what you did to Malcolm.
16:33So,
16:34and this track, as you said,
16:38a little hard to pass.
16:40How aggressive does he want to get?
16:43And Prado wants nothing to do with that.
16:44Yeah, he bought that light heated.
16:46So,
16:46and looking down at the motorcycle here,
16:49that might be the end of it
16:51for the charge for the 70.
16:54He is back to way down.
16:55Yeah, I mean, he's at knife right now.
16:57I mean, he has nine seconds over Cody Schauer,
17:00five seconds over Cody.
17:02It's going to be closing down pretty quickly.
17:05This is what Shock needs.
17:06Look, everybody has different standards and motivation.
17:08Certainly the multi-time champ
17:10from MXGP Prado wants to be up front winning.
17:13Shock will take any position from anyone
17:14at any time, especially now.
17:17This could be the difference
17:18between wildcard,
17:20LCQ race at every playoff,
17:22or guaranteed into the motos.
17:25Right now, look at this.
17:28Guillo and Shock,
17:29we were watching them 20th and 21st.
17:31It's actually Mitchell Harrison
17:32with the bad moto at the moment.
17:34They would both move ahead of him,
17:36but Shock only by one point.
17:39So he wants to pass Prado in the worst way.
17:43Justin Hill is just ahead in points.
17:45He's not racing for motocross.
17:46He's an active.
17:48Could they perhaps catch him
17:49by the end of the day?
17:51Maybe all three.
17:52Harrison, Shock, and Guillo
17:53could get in if they can all jump Hill.
17:55Yeah, so far,
17:56Cody's doing exactly what he needed to do.
17:58Good job,
17:59but it just shows you how things are changing,
18:01and it's going to continue to change
18:02in and out that bubble spot
18:04throughout this moto.
18:08Got McAraf behind Cody.
18:10How about that?
18:13Jack Rogers hanging in there,
18:14doing a good job with privateer
18:16after the good start.
18:17Yeah, he looks a little bit more racy back here.
18:20You know, things are starting to happen
18:21a little bit fast up at that level,
18:23but good start.
18:27Top 204.
18:29And then McAraf just came back
18:30for the quad lock Honda team.
18:32I'm seeing the number on the back there.
18:34but that actually might be Harrison
18:36coming through.
18:39Mitchell Harrison,
18:39who is again battling for that
18:41playoff seating,
18:45trying to get a guaranteed spot.
18:46Look at the gap that is built up here.
18:49That is Guillo
18:50on the Omaha.
18:52And that's Rogers.
18:53Oh, yeah.
18:54That was Harrison.
18:55So I'm trying to figure,
18:56he's coming up as a lap down.
18:58Harrison might be a lap down,
18:59and hence battling the riders
19:02he normally battles around that top 10,
19:04but maybe not for points.
19:05JT.
19:06Yeah, I think we're just dealing
19:07with a little bit of a technical area there
19:09because Harrison's been up there
19:10the whole time.
19:10He was showing 10
19:11on our leaderboard for a long time,
19:13which was accurate.
19:14I'm not sure what's going on now,
19:15but he is actually in that position.
19:17He's actually having a good moto.
19:18So again,
19:19we need to readjust
19:20the SMX World Championship
19:21playoff picture
19:22because Harrison
19:22is much further ahead
19:24than he should be.
19:24And that would mean that Guillo
19:25and Schock are not going to jump in,
19:28and Harrison would still be in position.
19:29There's one whole moto to go today.
19:31As for Guillo,
19:33he said his plan was
19:34if he didn't make it in the top 20,
19:36he was going to show up
19:37at those playoff races,
19:38but then he jumped on a supercross track
19:40at Club of Mex this week
19:41and said,
19:42you know what?
19:42That was so fun.
19:43Even if I am in the wildcard race,
19:45even if I got to go through the LCQ,
19:46I'm going to do it.
19:47Yeah, I mean,
19:48he's looking good right now,
19:50and sorry about the confusion
19:52on the timing of scoring.
19:53It's all over the place,
19:54but so far,
19:55just that bad start.
19:56Heard him at the moment.
19:57He's got about 20 seconds behind Cody's shock,
20:02so he's got a lot of work to make up,
20:04but this RJ is still trying to close in
20:07on Justin Cooper.
20:08He's going to have to get around his lap rider.
20:10You can see Justin right in front of him.
20:13That's what we talk about.
20:14Hefshile will never cheat your effort,
20:16just chipping away on it
20:17with Cooper,
20:18who's just up ahead.
20:20Yeah, and I believe Hunter Lawrence
20:23is only a couple seconds behind RJ,
20:25so that pace is starting to push these guys
20:27and bunching them together.
20:30Interesting to see if Tomac can hang right now.
20:32154s for both Lawrence's.
20:34Fastest two riders on the track.
20:37Can Tomac keep Hunter in his sights?
20:40Yeah, well,
20:41Eli ran a 159 in that last lap,
20:43so I don't know if that was a mistake,
20:44but he's already 10 seconds,
20:45almost 12 seconds behind Hunter Lawrence
20:48if the timing score is right.
20:49Now, here's something interesting with Cooper.
20:53He has not been on a moto podium
20:55since Redbud.
20:56Second moto,
20:57second half of the year
20:58has not been quite as good,
20:59but he did still lock up
21:01that number one seed
21:02for the playoffs.
21:03We asked him how much
21:04that meant to him yesterday.
21:06It's a huge goal for me.
21:08It's definitely awesome.
21:11I don't think there's anything
21:12that comes with it, though.
21:13We still got to carry it into the playoffs,
21:15and yeah, we start with a head start, right?
21:17So that's always a good thing.
21:19And yeah, just looking to finish
21:21this motocross series out strong,
21:23and we got one more.
21:24So it's been taking it race by race.
21:26It's been a long season,
21:27and yeah, definitely just honed in
21:29on one race at a time.
21:31Yeah, I think Justin,
21:33I mean, I would be very proud
21:35if I'm him coming into the season
21:36if you said I would be, you know,
21:39number one leading into that playoffs.
21:41You know, I think for him,
21:42he wants a win.
21:43And that would be the only thing
21:44that kind of, you know,
21:46capped this series off for him.
21:48But I think it's very impressive
21:49for him to do it.
21:50And you can see Hunter Lawrence
21:51sliding up, closing that gap.
21:52So he's going to have a battle
21:53for that second place position
21:55between RJ and Hunter Lawrence
21:56by the end of this moto.
21:58It's been a great season
21:58for the number 32 star racing Yamaha.
22:01And there's motivation
22:02for Hunter back there in fourth.
22:04If he can score 46 points today,
22:06he'd fall all the way to third
22:07in the playoff seating.
22:09If he gets 46,
22:10have to get a moto win
22:12to get that many points.
22:13It's going to be tough in this one,
22:15but at least try to get to second here.
22:17So I'm going to expect a big battle
22:19between these three.
22:20Yeah, he would need to be in second,
22:21as you mentioned,
22:22and then have to win that next moto.
22:24So it's very important.
22:26And we go back to last year,
22:27tying Jet Lawrence
22:28and being one point off,
22:30basically that tiebreaker,
22:31losing that million dollars
22:33in the world championship.
22:34Really important for Hunter Lawrence
22:36to try to move up if he can.
22:37So we brace ourselves
22:41through what could be
22:41a fantastic three-rider duel.
22:43Hampshire trying to catch Cooper.
22:46Hunter trying to catch them both.
22:48Hunter either finding,
22:50maybe accidentally,
22:51smooth real estate
22:52off the side of the track there.
22:54A little early for that.
22:55Second motor,
22:56there's going to be some good lines.
22:59This track really has a hard base.
23:01You can see that shiny stuff,
23:02and these guys are starting to slip in.
23:04So as the day goes on,
23:05I actually think it'll get more traction.
23:07as the track dries out
23:08because it'd be more consistent for them.
23:10They got a little bit of water on it,
23:11so you can see a few mistakes.
23:16Yeah, 450 is racing first today.
23:17How much of a changeup
23:18is that when they're generally second?
23:22I think it's more of a mindset change.
23:24I mean, it's still the same amount of time.
23:25Maybe a little bit easier
23:27because it's not as rough,
23:28but I feel like the racing is more intense
23:31because these guys feel like
23:32they have a more practice track.
23:34It's not as rough,
23:35so you'll have more guys going faster,
23:37a little longer,
23:38and they had a rider on the inside
23:39that went down.
23:41Let's catch back up with Harrison
23:42who has caught back up with Prado.
23:44So Harrison,
23:46now we do have him reflected in 11.
23:48JT.
23:49Well, I just want to give a shout-out,
23:51Weege, to Mitchell Harrison
23:52because there's so many comparisons
23:54that we've made the last few weeks
23:55about Jorge Prado,
23:56which we see right there.
23:57Getting past Mitchell Harrison
23:58as if Mitchell Harrison's
24:00doing something wrong in this.
24:02But Mitchell Harrison's
24:02been riding incredibly well.
24:04He's about to be
24:04the top finishing Kawasaki
24:06if he makes this move
24:07on Jorge Prado yet again.
24:09So I just think he deserves
24:10a little bit more credit
24:11than he's been getting
24:12being the punching bag
24:13in the Jorge Prado comparison.
24:15Yeah, what Prado has had,
24:16motos like this
24:17where he starts drifting backwards,
24:18because that's kind of
24:19the Mendoza line.
24:20Like, man, he's even getting
24:21passed by Harrison,
24:22but Harrison's riding well.
24:24And he said he's not just here
24:25thinking about SMX points
24:26for the playoffs.
24:28He's here to battle
24:29factory riders
24:30and get in the top 10, Haley.
24:32Yeah, exactly that.
24:34I wish he took the words
24:34out of my mouth.
24:35I spoke to him.
24:36It was exactly that.
24:37Had to bring up the obvious,
24:38that bubble battle.
24:39He said, yeah,
24:40I just want to beat
24:41these factory guys.
24:42Yeah, and obviously
24:44that would take care
24:45of the points as well.
24:46But we've talked about
24:46this many, many times.
24:47James, we go back
24:48to Ty Masterful a few years ago.
24:50That's the dangling carrot
24:52for these privateers.
24:53Yeah, I mean,
24:53and honestly,
24:54I think there's a little bit
24:55of pride for Mitchell
24:56to be able to pass Jorge.
24:58And the reason he gets brought up
25:00because of all the speculation,
25:02and it's not a disrespect
25:02to Mitchell,
25:03it's just you're surprised
25:05Jorge gets a start
25:06and then he ends up
25:07that far back.
25:08So, nonetheless,
25:10Mitchell's been riding great
25:11this season,
25:12and you can have
25:13another good day
25:13finishing inside that top 20
25:15in these playoffs.
25:16That would be a great year
25:17for him.
25:18And as you said,
25:18it could be career changing
25:20moving forward.
25:21And honestly,
25:22shout out to the team owner.
25:23Oh, as Harrison almost goes down.
25:25Julian, who owns this
25:26Partzilla Blaster team,
25:29it's a lot of effort
25:30for these privateer teams
25:31to get to all the races,
25:33but that's what allows
25:34the dreams to come true
25:35for the likes of Harrison
25:37and Hunter Yoder,
25:38some of the other talent
25:39that they have under that tent.
25:40So, credit to Julian
25:41for putting this team
25:42on the track,
25:43collecting more sponsors.
25:45And then every year,
25:46the team gets a little bit better
25:47in the results column,
25:48and you never know.
25:49We have seen privateer teams.
25:51You blink.
25:52And next thing you know,
25:53they're getting factory support
25:54or even winning races.
25:55Yeah, and that's when I go back,
25:56a career changing.
25:58Because of these finishes,
25:59you get more sponsors,
26:00opportunity team has more budget.
26:02They start putting more
26:03in the bike,
26:03and it could be
26:04not necessarily money
26:05in his pocket,
26:06but overall,
26:07a better motorcycle,
26:08he'll get faster.
26:09That's the part,
26:10where these playoffs
26:11and having the opportunity
26:12to be in there
26:13could be career changing
26:14for a lot of these
26:15privateer guys.
26:16Yeah, top 20 guaranteed a gate
26:18at all three races.
26:19If you're out,
26:20you've got to race
26:20the wild card race.
26:21If you're not top 30,
26:22you're not eligible at all.
26:24And Harrison's done it
26:25indoors and out.
26:27By the way,
26:28we mentioned the timing
26:29and scoring issues.
26:30Got a lot of that rectified now,
26:31but could be a few more
26:33that will get figured out.
26:34So, you see the pylon
26:35on the left side of the screen.
26:36That's relatively accurate.
26:38We'll make sure
26:38by the end of this moto
26:39that we haven't dialed
26:40as we go back to Cooper.
26:42And he's dealing
26:44with more and more pressure
26:45from Hampshire.
26:47Yeah, Justin's going to catch.
26:49If I'm RJ,
26:50I've got to really capitalize
26:51because we know Justin's
26:52going to be stuck
26:52behind these guys.
26:54You can see him close
26:55that gap right on in him.
26:57And Hunter Lawrence
26:58lurking as well.
26:59Second would be
27:00a career best moto finish
27:02for Hampshire
27:03on a 450
27:04if he can get there.
27:04It's good to see Justin
27:08up here
27:08back towards that league roof
27:10after that practice crash
27:11at Millville.
27:12Struggled for a few weeks
27:14and finally got his health
27:16back after that two-week break.
27:17And ever since we came back
27:18even Unadilla
27:19the last couple weeks
27:20he's been a lot better
27:21building towards the right
27:23state of mind
27:25going into these playoffs
27:26as the number one seed.
27:27Yeah, Cooper said
27:28Ironman has just never been
27:29a track that's good for him.
27:30Not even sure why.
27:31but Unadilla just had
27:33a bad start at Moto 1
27:34rode well in Moto 2
27:35and obviously riding
27:37well right now
27:37bottom box is
27:39Jet Lawrence dealing
27:39with piles of lap traffic.
27:42And Cooper trying
27:44to hold off
27:44Henshire JT.
27:45Yeah, and tweets
27:46for Justin Cooper
27:47this has to feel
27:48like old times
27:49a little bit.
27:49Let's go back
27:50to 2021
27:51well guess who
27:52Jet Lawrence was battling
27:53for championships.
27:55It was none other
27:56than the likes
27:56of Justin Cooper.
27:57So these guys are
27:58old rivals
27:59old frenemies
28:00if you will
28:01so to see them
28:02running 1-2
28:03in the 450 class
28:04it's really just
28:04the natural progression
28:05of the sport
28:06because these guys
28:07were the 250 guys
28:08just a few years ago.
28:09Well I'll take it
28:09even further
28:10how many battles
28:10have Hunter Lawrence
28:11and RJ Hampshire
28:12had with Cooper
28:13in the 250 class
28:14as well?
28:15So you're starting
28:16to see
28:16that sea change
28:18as these riders
28:19move up
28:20and adapt
28:21to these bikes.
28:21Yeah,
28:22unfortunate for them
28:22in the old times
28:23they were in the
28:23same position
28:24chasing
28:2518 of Jet Lawrence
28:26and so yeah
28:27they've been battling
28:28for years
28:29but they want to
28:30try to change
28:31rewrite that history
28:32a little bit.
28:34And you're right
28:36James
28:36throughout all that
28:37they're all moving up
28:38they're all riding well
28:38but Jet Lawrence
28:39what can you say
28:41is on his way
28:43to what looks
28:44to be another
28:44controlled moto
28:46victory
28:47and his assault
28:48on the record books
28:49set after the
28:51qualifying first
28:53today
28:53that he quite
28:55had the motivation
28:55when the title
28:56already wrapped him
28:57this is what he does
28:57anyway.
28:58Yeah,
28:58I mean he's looked
28:59very loose today
29:01and we talk about
29:02the way he rides
29:03sometimes it gets
29:03hard to see
29:04if he's trying
29:05I almost feel like
29:06the way he's riding
29:07today
29:07he has another level
29:09if he could go up
29:10to Justin Cooper
29:11closed in
29:12and he's tired
29:13pulling away
29:13and the one guy
29:14that's closing in
29:14is Hunter Lawrence
29:15trying to get to it
29:16he understands
29:17how important
29:17that second spot
29:18is
29:18he's not going to
29:20be able to do anything
29:20with RJ here
29:21but that's Justin Cooper
29:22right in front of
29:23oh great stuff
29:24it's really amped
29:26it up now
29:26under fire
29:27from Lawrence
29:29so he is closed
29:30right to the rear fender
29:32of Cooper
29:33three rider fight
29:34we knew it was coming
29:35and here it is
29:35yeah, they're going to
29:36have about three laps
29:37to go
29:37and if I'm Hunter Lawrence
29:38it's going to use
29:39that basketball terminology
29:40as he goes up
29:41the inside of RJ
29:42we're going to pick and roll
29:43and if Justin Cooper
29:44doesn't watch out
29:45Hunter Lawrence
29:46might sneak up
29:46and make this pass
29:48because Justin's going
29:48to be stuck behind
29:49his lap rider
29:50going to allow Hunter
29:51Lawrence to close up
29:52and that was a quick
29:53strike from the
29:5496 on Hepshire
29:55oh, lap traffic
29:57everywhere for Cooper
29:58to deal with
29:59it's important
29:59for these guys
30:00to get past them
30:01right here
30:01Justin Cooper
30:02does a great job
30:03and watch this
30:03our Lawrence
30:04is going to get stuck
30:05RJ is right back
30:09in it
30:10all right
30:11let's get to the
30:11pass here
30:12from Hunter
30:12on RJ
30:14JT
30:14yeah, just Hunter
30:16really using his head
30:17with this pass
30:18and you're going
30:19to see him set it up
30:20now watch RJ
30:20he's going to drift
30:21back towards Hunter
30:22a little bit
30:23I'm sure Hunter
30:23was it thrilled
30:24right there
30:24he drifts back
30:25Hunter realizes
30:26all I have to do
30:27is get to where
30:27he wants to go
30:28so he just puts
30:30his motorcycle
30:30right where RJ's
30:32line is going to
30:32cross
30:33RJ's unsuspecting
30:34RJ has to hit the
30:35brakes
30:35and Hunter goes
30:36right by
30:37so it's one of those
30:37things where I don't
30:38have to necessarily
30:39pass you
30:39I just have to beat
30:41you to the spot
30:41where you want to end
30:42he's going to have to go
30:44yeah absolutely
30:44that's a great
30:45breakdown JT
30:45I think RJ was
30:46focused in on
30:47Justin Cooper
30:48he didn't even realize
30:49that Hunter Lawrence
30:50was behind him
30:50and that's why I was
30:51saying Hunter Lawrence
30:52used that pick and roll
30:53as RJ's focus
30:54slid in and made
30:55that pass
30:56but you can see
30:57these guys get stuck
30:58behind these lap riders
30:59in these couple of spots
31:00and look
31:00they lost a couple
31:01seconds to Justin Cooper
31:02so really have to go
31:04back to work
31:04and I know that people
31:05see this and they'll
31:06get frustrated with the
31:07lap traffic
31:07but they have lapped
31:08into the top 20
31:09so these riders are
31:10battling for points
31:11Bryce Shelley
31:12who they just went by
31:13he's national number 97
31:16you earn the two digit
31:17number by scoring points
31:18in the motos
31:18he's 19th
31:20so he wants every point
31:21he gets
31:21so they're not just
31:23going to pull over
31:23when they find out
31:24that it's the lead group
31:25they'll make it a little
31:26easier but they're
31:27fighting amongst themselves
31:28an update on the
31:29Oakley athletes out here
31:31that's Cooper in second
31:32Tomac fifth
31:33Marcia eighth
31:33and then Pat Sherell
31:35also fighting for points
31:36is 20th
31:38so that's what makes
31:39it a little bit harder
31:39to pass some of these
31:40riders
31:40they're in a fight
31:41in each other
31:42yeah sorry about that
31:44it makes it really hard
31:45and I saw a couple
31:46of lap riders
31:47they were trying to pull
31:48over but there's
31:48literally not enough room
31:50on the track
31:51he almost crashed
31:52going down
31:52and it depends on
31:53where they catch him
31:54in the part of the
31:54racetrack
31:55so they're doing a good
31:56job at least moving over
31:58even though they're
31:58bound for performance
31:59they're trying to stay
31:59out of these guys way
32:00but kind of hard
32:03now you can see
32:03Hunter Lawrence starting
32:04to close back in
32:05with two laps left
32:06oh Justin
32:06clutch time now
32:08to see if Hunter
32:09can get there
32:10again
32:11have not had
32:13a moto podium
32:14Cooper
32:16since Redbud
32:17so this would be
32:18big for him to get
32:18well should be on the
32:19podium either way
32:20but second would be
32:21big
32:21and it's Supermoto
32:22Cross playoffs
32:23offer some of the
32:24most unique
32:25fan opportunities
32:26in any sport
32:27for a limited time
32:28enter the code
32:29BOGORDL
32:36Friday fan zone ticket
32:42Saturday event ticket
32:43private hospitality area
32:44private cash bar
32:46and again the code
32:57is BOGORDL
32:58and also we just
33:01announcing that
33:02this morning
33:03there'll be
33:04for the race
33:05at Las Vegas
33:06a shuttle
33:07from the strip
33:08to the drag strip
33:10the racetrack
33:11where the event
33:12takes place
33:12that's a new
33:13addition after
33:14SMX
33:15raced in Vegas
33:16last year
33:17so check that out
33:18go to SuperMotoCross.com
33:20for more information
33:21on that event
33:22make a good weekend
33:23of it
33:23at Las Vegas
33:24yeah you can see
33:26Hunter really
33:26laying it down
33:27and the reason why
33:28he's taking those
33:30chances
33:30because he has
33:31to get this spot
33:31to have any opportunity
33:32to get that third
33:33in the playoffs
33:34so very important
33:35pass as far as
33:36the seating wise
33:37his championships
33:37wrapped up
33:38he's got second
33:39in the points
33:40motocross secure
33:41but there's a lot more
33:44he's got a lap
33:44to get it done
33:45yeah you can see
33:47the SMX points
33:48that's combined
33:48Monster Energy
33:49Supercross
33:50and Pro Motocross
33:50together on the left
33:51side of the screen
33:52they're trying to catch
33:53Sexton and Webb
33:54who are not here
33:55out with injuries
33:56they will be back
33:57for the playoffs
33:57so that's your brother
33:59Malcolm trying to
34:00hold Hunter at bay
34:01and then Hunter
34:02trying to leapfrog him
34:03and also Webb
34:04and Sexton
34:05and gets a third
34:05yeah that was a
34:06key move by Justin
34:08little things that
34:10go unnoticed
34:11he was able to get
34:11past that lap rider
34:12before he got in
34:13that section
34:13and allows Hunter
34:14to keep that gap
34:15on Hunter Lawrence
34:16so might be able
34:17the difference
34:17between finishing
34:18second or third
34:19in his moto
34:20yeah white flag
34:21is out here
34:22and you said it
34:24over and over
34:24Justin Cooper
34:25knows where the
34:26passing zones are
34:27right
34:27he knows where
34:28he's got to hustle
34:28through here
34:29yeah and if he
34:29didn't know before
34:30he realized
34:31after his moto
34:32where he caught
34:32these guys
34:33but again
34:33it's been a good
34:35ride for him
34:36and I just like
34:36the aggressiveness
34:37that we see
34:38for Justin Cooper
34:38about a fight
34:40because Hunter
34:40Lawrence came
34:40from a long ways
34:41back
34:41he could have easily
34:42he gave up
34:43that position
34:44yeah this has
34:46not quite been
34:47as good
34:48he hasn't been
34:49bad by any means
34:50Justin Cooper
34:50but the beginning
34:51of the year
34:51leading laps
34:52fast qualifier
34:53on the podium
34:53a lot
34:54and he's been
34:55more of a 4-5 guy
34:56than a 2-3 guy
34:57the last couple
34:58of races
34:59but second
35:00right now
35:00if he can hold
35:01Hunter off
35:01on this Monster Energy
35:03Yamaha star racing
35:04machine
35:04yeah it seems
35:05like all the tracks
35:06that Justin had
35:07the speed in practice
35:08he got bad starts
35:09so the results
35:10didn't show
35:10and then some
35:11of the other ones
35:12he got good starts
35:12he heard or something
35:14else was going on
35:15so to me
35:15this is the first
35:16time we've seen him
35:17have a good start
35:18and on the track
35:19that he's been
35:19pretty fast
35:20and it's about
35:214-1-2 seconds
35:21on the cruising
35:22Jet Lawrence
35:23Jet has all those
35:24things
35:24tracks he does well
35:25on good starts
35:26cruising all of it
35:27this is going to be
35:29the checkered flag
35:30here
35:30pressure
35:31motivation
35:32some of it
35:33less of it
35:33none of it
35:34I don't know
35:35bottom line
35:35Moto 1
35:37goes to Jet Lawrence
35:38and the hustle
35:39for second
35:40and it will be
35:41Justin Cooper
35:42even had the
35:43Labrador throw
35:44a width in there
35:45he knew he was
35:45on TV
35:45smart move
35:47marketing for those
35:48guys
35:48so Jet
35:49title or not
35:50today
35:51is looking to
35:53go out on top
35:53in pro motocross
35:54a little uppercut
