00:00Tottenham have begun the Premier League campaign with intrigue surrounding what Thomas Frank can deliver in his first season at the helm.
00:09The summer window has been mixed for Spurs with some smart additions made, but also a feeling that not every area of the squad has been addressed.
00:20Questions remain over whether the depth is sufficient to sustain a push for the top four, especially with the added demands of the Champions League.
00:28Frank's challenge will be to blend his energetic, high-pressing philosophy with a squad still adapting to recent managerial changes.
00:37Expectations are high, but patience may be needed as the team adjusts to new ideas and potentially transitional season.
00:45For more perspective on Tottenham's situation, we spoke to James Trembath of London World,
00:51who explained that while there's excitement about what Frank could bring, the frustrations of the summer window have tempered some of the optimism.
01:01Let's just look at Thomas Frank and in terms of the changes he might make, what are you sort of expecting to go to that first game and see tactically what Frank's going to change?
01:14Obviously, Brentford, he played some really nice sort of expansive football and very free-flowing at times as well,
01:21but then also showed the side, as you mentioned before, is that adaptability that's so important that maybe Ange lacked and we didn't quite see that Ange sort of had that with his team,
01:32that he could go in different situations, you know, whether it's away from home or somewhere you need to sort of lock up a bit more.
01:39Thomas Frank seems like he's became a bit of a master at doing that.
01:42And then at home, you know, Brentford's home record was incredible with Thomas Frank.
01:48So hopefully that's something he can transfer to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as well.
01:53Absolutely. And we absolutely have to get, you know, the new White Hart Lane into fortress mode.
01:58I mean, you know, you look at the last season at White Hart Lane, I think it was 17 wins, two draws, absolutely fantastic.
02:06And, you know, the crowd, obviously, it was the last season, but it really translated onto the pitch that year.
02:11And that's something we haven't taken with us to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium yet.
02:15There's been some terrific nights, you know, Man City in the Champions League, the first game against Christoph Palace and the semi-final first leg against Bodo would be all brilliant atmospheres.
02:25But it's been relatively flat and we just haven't got that groove, I think, yet.
02:29There's probably a little bit too much of an area of expectancy when Spurs turn up, you know, to think, well, we're going to beat these, so, you know, we don't need to sing, etc.
02:37So, he's already said Thomas Franke wants to make the home into a fortress and I think that's certainly point number one.
02:43But I think in terms of the tactical side of the game, the biggest difference is just going to be adaptability depending on the opposition.
02:51You know, he likes to play with that front three and I think, you know, it'll be very, very fluid.
02:55It'll be, you know, high press, you know, lots of attacking football again.
02:59I do think we'll have a much more solid base and that's what we're needed.
03:03So, you know, maybe that double pivot comes in as we were speaking about the number six role, absolutely essential.
03:09And, you know, depending on the opposition, he'll move to a back three, which may well suit Spurs.
03:14You know, you've got the likes of Adoghi and Porro who were wing-backs before.
03:19They morphed into that back four.
03:21They were bought as wing-backs initially.
03:24Could he go down the middle?
03:25I think, you know, we saw at Forest, he was very, very explosive down the middle.
03:29So, perhaps he can play off Solanke at times.
03:31And I think it'll be really interesting to see what happens with the battle for the number one position as well.
03:37Mr Vicario, excellent shot-stopper.
03:39You know, there's no question of that.
03:40He's in the, you know, the top three or four keepers in the Premier League in terms of his shot-stopping ability.
03:45However, he is a little bit suspect on the crosses and his distribution can be a bit dicey at times as well.
03:52And we know Thomas Frank likes a goalkeeper who's extremely good with the feet and obviously got really good distribution.
03:58And that brings Kinski into the mix, in my opinion.
04:02He's got a real talent and I think he's got an aura about him, Kinski.
04:06You know, he's going to not lay down in that challenge for the number one spot.
04:09So, we saw at the back end of last season when he was playing, when Vicario was rested, some of the long passing and ball distribution was exceptional.
04:18He's a good shot-stopper.
04:19So, if he can brush up on that handling, which is pretty solid, then I, you know, have a sneaky feeling that, you know, maybe not at the start of the season,
04:28but certainly during the season, we might see Kinski coming in as the number one goalkeeper.
04:31And again, you know, that will dictate in terms of the tactics that Frank wants to play.
04:35So, interesting, lots of things up for grabs.
04:37And it'll be interesting and see the approach Frank starts to take as things take shape.
