00:00Tottenham have begun the new Premier League campaign with intrigues surrounding what Thomas Frank can deliver in his first season at the helm.
00:10If the first few games are anything to go off, Spurs are in for a treat this season.
00:16The summer window has been mixed for Spurs with some smart additions made, but also a feeling that not every area of the squad has been addressed.
00:25Questions remain over whether the depth is sufficient to sustain a push for the top four, especially with the added demands of European football.
00:35Frank's challenges will be to blend his energetic, adaptable philosophy with a squadster adapting to recent managerial changes.
00:44Expectations are high, but patience may be needed as the team adjusts to new ideas and a potentially transitional season.
00:51For more perspective on Tottenham's situation, we spoke to James Trenbath of London World, who explained while there's excitement about what Frank could bring long term,
01:03the likes of competing in the top flight and the Champions League make the future a challenging one.
01:09So, James, in terms of Spurs and the sort of summer window, the way it's turning out to look, we've mentioned a few times the sort of positions on the pitch that Thomas Frank's going to want to improve.
01:23And Spurs fans want to see some maybe, you know, fresh faces, fresh bit of life injected into those positions.
01:30The number six role particularly is quite a big one in terms of going into the new season.
01:35And, you know, under Antiposso Coglu, those sort of rotating sixes or sometimes two at a time, you know, so much football, so much high energy football and back and forth that they had to play under him.
01:46And it's sort of got the very best of them, especially in the Premier League with that poor form last season.
01:51Who would you like to see come into the number six role?
01:54Is there any sort of links, rumours that hopefully Spurs are looking at in terms of possibly coming to fruition and going into this new season with a new manager, a new era?
02:04And, you know, obviously back into the Champions League as well.
02:06So the demand is definitely going to be there for Spurs players coming in.
02:09Yeah, 100 percent. And it's certainly a position that Spurs need to look to address in the summer, as we've spoken about previously.
02:17You know, we've got Archie Gray, who Thomas Frank tried to sign at Brentford, ironically, who will be a candidate for that position.
02:24But obviously he's very young, he's very raw, still sort of playing his trade and learning that Premier League.
02:29Gio Polina, former Fulham midfielder now at Bayern Munich, not really played too much there.
02:35But, you know, a real good ball-winning midfielder, robust Premier League player, certainly made a big difference in the Premier League when he was with Fulham.
02:42And he'd be an excellent addition to Spurs, really had some steel and some grit to that holding role in front of the back four.
02:49Yeah, you obviously mentioned the experience quota that they need to go for this summer.
02:54How important is it that they do get some experienced heads through the door, especially for that Champions League campaign?
03:00You know, you want players who, yes, are young, you want to get the right balance of young and experienced players throughout the side.
03:06But, you know, it cost them massively going in with quite an inexperienced side last season, especially in the Premier League.
03:12But, you know, the Champions League is a bit of a different ball game.
03:16You know, you can't really go incredibly far with a younger side.
03:20It's been very few and far between that teams have done that.
03:23Maybe Ajax, obviously, that Spurs beat those seasons ago.
03:27That was a very young side.
03:28But, you know, in terms of experience in the Champions League, it's sort of invaluable when you are going to sort of rejoin the Europeans elite.
03:37Yeah, really important.
03:38We've spoken before, haven't we, about the need for Spurs to get some experienced heads in and never more so than for this season.
03:45You know, they've obviously all got the European Europa League win under the belt,
03:49which will be, you know, invaluable in terms of that experience and bringing on some of the emerging talents.
03:53But, you know, the average age of the squad now is so young.
03:56You know, you look through the spine of the team, there's only really some that's over the age of 30, I think, if I'm not mistaken.
04:03One or two nudging towards that bracket.
04:05Obviously, Madison's getting towards 30, Bissouma, Benton Kerr as well.
04:10But, you know, in terms of that experience quota, we really do need to bolster it.
04:14And dovetailing that with, you know, the likes of Bergval, you know, Destinia Dogey, Pedro Porra, Mickey van der Venne, you know, some real exciting talent.
04:24You know, if we could get a spine of the team that has just that little bit more experience, you know, it's going to be crucial for that Champions League run.
04:30We need some real experience.
04:32And I'll say, you know, the likes of Jaapolini, Douglas Luiz could be really two good additions and really make a huge difference
04:39and bring valuable international and European experience as well.
