00:01
Paul, 3-0 win against Dorchester in the FA Cup and through to the fourth qualifying round for the first time in the club's history.
00:08
It's another sort of landmark achievement there today, isn't it?
00:11
It is, yeah. I just said to the boys, you know, take the performance away.
00:15
It wasn't the greatest of vintage games. It's a bit dull, but the boys have made more history for the football club.
00:22
We take that as a massive positive and we look forward to the draw on Monday.
00:26
Obviously, in cup games, it's about getting through and you deserve to win the game.
00:31
Was it just a case of getting the job done today, do you say?
00:34
It was, yeah. They were disappointing, I must admit.
00:38
They didn't really offer too much. The 9-11 were by far the standout players for them.
00:43
It was just a case of how good we were going to be or could we put a chance away.
00:51
I thought, you know, the first half in the final, third wheel was non-existent.
00:55
It was a bit painful to watch. Didn't play much.
00:59
But, yeah, I had a few words at half the time and, yeah, we come out a bit better.
01:03
Yeah, in that first half, plenty of territory in possession, but just not that sort of final cutting edge was there.
01:08
But in the second half, obviously there was.
01:10
There was, yeah. You know, I get on the case, you know, about putting crosses in the box in certain areas from our boys, especially full backs.
01:17
And we put a couple in today, you know, they're just tappings. They're easy goals for strikers.
01:22
And, yeah, the movement, you know, flat-footed in there. No attempt to get across and just tap it in.
01:29
So, yeah, it's frustrating, disappointing.
01:31
Thought we passed it quite well, you know, in comfortable areas, which I expect us to do.
01:36
But, yeah, that was about as much as it was in the first half.
01:39
A few changes today, as sort of expected, but still a strong team.
01:43
And obviously, great Evans gets his chance and opens the scoring with a good finish.
01:46
After some nice play down the right between sort of Joe, Daz and Ogo, wasn't it?
01:49
Yeah, it was pretty cool with him at half-time.
01:51
You know, I think he was doing like, you know, three, four, five movements before he was doing the basics of doing the first thing right first.
01:58
And, yeah, when, you know, when you dig people out and that, the best response is to go and do that.
02:05
And, yeah, I'm happy that he touched it away.
02:07
You know, he's a good lad and he deserves it with his, like, effort and what he gives to the group.
02:13
And then, obviously, Ogo wins the penalty and Daz slots it away for 2-0.
02:16
And, I mean, Dorchester hadn't really been a threat at all anyway, but, obviously, that really sort of sealed it, didn't it there?
02:21
It did, yeah. It sort of is comfortable, but you get to that stage, you know, 85th minute and then, you know,
02:27
there's six minutes and it's just one chance, you know, especially in cup football.
02:32
You just never know.
02:33
And even till the last couple of minutes, you know, it's always, there's always a chance in it.
02:38
And if they put one away, then it's obviously, it comes a nervy couple of minutes.
02:42
And then, obviously, the third at the end to wrap it up.
02:44
Owen, obviously, unselfish, puts it on a plate, really, for Ogo there at the back post.
02:47
Yeah, that's, you know, we go on as well with Owen, you know, that's his strength,
02:52
driving with that ball, being a threat.
02:54
And he's done that and he's unselfishly rolled it across to Ogo.
02:57
He's had a frustrating time in front of the goal today.
02:59
You know, he could have had a few today.
03:00
So, credit to Owen as a team player.
03:02
And, yeah, Ogo stuck to it and got his goal.
03:05
Obviously, one negative today enforced double change in the first half with, yeah,
03:10
Bobby Joe coming off injured and Jack Dean, I presume, sort of injured as well.
03:13
Obviously, too early to know, I guess.
03:15
Obviously, it's not ideal, is it?
03:17
No, I think, you know, saving grace is, you know, it's a week of cup football.
03:21
So, you know, it is what it is.
03:23
It's not too important, the trophy or the Surrey Cup on Tuesday night.
03:27
So, yeah, they got a couple of weeks rest.
03:30
Yeah, Bob was a groin, just about two inches in his groin,
03:34
and Jack felt his thigh.
03:36
He felt in the warm-up, but didn't say anything, tried to play on.
03:40
But, so, yeah, he's pulled up.
03:42
Matt McKenzie from the other night as well is a bit of an issue.
03:45
It's going to be a few weeks.
03:46
So, yeah, we picked up a few unnecessary injuries.
03:49
Yeah, so you picked them up.
03:51
But, I guess, if you're going to pick a time, I guess now, really.
03:54
Because, as I say, you've gone through today as well.
03:56
So, it's going to be even, you know, more than two weeks now
03:58
for the next league game, isn't it?
03:59
It is, yeah.
04:00
It's perfect.
04:01
Perfect timing, you know, if you're going to get, like you say,
04:03
if you're going to get those injuries, this is the perfect time to pick them up.
04:06
It gives them a chance to recoup and freshen up as well.
04:10
You know, it's been a call-in, opening start to the season for us.
04:14
Another good crowd today, 7-9-8.
04:16
Just sort of shows momentum, doesn't it, that's sort of building?
04:18
It does.
04:19
You know, the crowd are good.
04:20
They're getting better and better each week.
04:21
And, yeah, you know, we like playing here.
04:23
And the town are backing us, and they're a long mate to continue.
04:26
And, presumably, obviously, Epsom and Newell, Surrey Senior Cup,
04:29
a nice chance, you know, to change things around as you want, presumably, there.
04:33
Yeah, we'll have a look.
04:34
We'll get a couple of people in, we'll have a look at them.
04:36
And, yeah, we'll play a few more boys, you know, that need the minutes.
04:39
Percy and Rans Cooks, Lids will be back.
04:42
So, yeah, we'll have a look at a couple,
04:44
and we'll just go and enjoy a Tuesday night for what it is.
