00:00I feel like tonight's borderline Wiggy must win because you lose four straight then you basically
00:07have to take two or three from the Yankees over the weekend just to split the series.
00:12They are going in the wrong direction and there is a potential. I think we'll know the ending of
00:18this season, the regular season, based on these four games. If they win three out of four and
00:23they have a clear commanding lead in terms of the season series, it'd be eight to two over the
00:29Yankees. They would have picked up a game. They would be feeling like, all right, we only have
00:34three games left with these guys and they're in Fenway. We dominate in Fenway. Winning three out
00:37of four in the road would show me that they can make a run in the playoffs. If they lose three
00:41out of four or they get swept, then I think it pretty much shows it's been fake.
00:44You think so? It's August. It's late August. When it comes to the schedule, they do have
00:53a bounce back opportunity with a couple of the remaining series here. So I, you think,
00:59but you think this is it do or die here, Curtis?
01:02Yeah. I mean, how many games do they have left at Fenway? 15? They, there's less than like 33,
01:09maybe 32 games, something like that, like remaining in the season.
01:11Yeah. And every, if they lose the series this weekend, what is everybody talking about Monday
01:17morning? The spoon just came a week late this year, but this is what Red Sox teams have done
01:22under core the last four seasons. Right, right. I think Curtis is spot on about that, especially
01:26the way you looked. I mean, when the way they looked in their past, you know, seven, eight,
01:31nine, 10 games, I think they're what three and seven in their last 10 games. So you're on a three
01:36game losing streak and Curtis is right. If you lose this one tonight, that's four games.
01:41And now people are starting to go, well, maybe the beginning of August was just kind of this
01:46mirage that, well, I mean, they, wouldn't you say that they've been a streaky baseball team
01:52and, and streakier than they have been looking back at those, the last three or four years.
01:58Right. But they were, they looked better at the beginning of August and you know, on the,
02:03or the second half of the season, they look better this year than they looked in years past.
02:09So you felt good about that. Like perhaps at the beginning of August, if you, if you have
02:15the bases racked three times in a ball game, you can advance a runner at some point and
02:21score yourself a run. I, that, that was the, that was the issue the other night. And that
02:26is the issue. And then you can't count on your bullpen at all. Right. It's you cannot count
02:33on them at all. And then the thing about it is, and I think we would be looking at this
02:37series much way different if they didn't lose the last three in a row. If they were, you
02:42know, if they had last three games, they had won two out of the three, we'd be going into
02:46this and we wouldn't be expecting them to not win the series. We'd be, the, the split
02:52of the series would be great. We'd be like, okay, that, you know, they're still playing
02:56good baseball, but because they've been struggling here of late, Curtis is right. If they don't
03:01win this series, it's going to be come Monday. It's going to be like, yeah, this was same
03:05old Red Sox.
03:06And if there's ever been a year where the Yankees are primed for the taking, it's this
03:10one. I mean, they've been, the talk all in New York has been firing Boone. It's been,
03:16you know, they've had the Aaron judge injury. Their rotation got hurt with Garrett Cole before
03:20the season. Like you should be, you should win three out of four this weekend. You've
03:24had a better year. You're a bet. Your team is playing better up until recently. And I know
03:30Yankee stadium is like a scary place for everyone, but I, the new Yankee stadium doesn't have the
03:35same, uh, je ne sais quoi.
03:37No, they're not throwing batteries at people no longer. I don't think if they lose sexual
03:41things, Curtis, if they lose this series though, and we see a downfall with the Red
03:45Sox again, though, nothing's going to change. Alex core is not going to get fired. They're
03:49not going like you've got, you've got Craig Breslow now and he's not going anywhere. It
03:54doesn't seem like Alex is going anywhere. So I disagree with you. If they don't make the
03:58playoffs, I disagree that there is a chance core could get fired.
04:02Oh no, I think so. That would be four years.
04:06They're not because Wiggy, he can't make a decision. He's not allowed to make a decision
04:13for himself. He, he's not even allowed if he wants in a baseball game to tell a guy to
04:20tag up at third base when a ball is hit to the outfield. Like he's not even allowed to
04:26do that. So if that's the case, they're not going to blame him for anything. So if that's
04:30the case, then if the, if he's not allowed to do any, any of those things, that decision
04:37is made going into the game by the, they got five guys down downstairs at Fenway who put
04:43down the, the Dungeons and Dragons for five minutes and five guys for lunch and make a
04:51decision about what the arm strength is of an outfielder and whether or not you're going
04:56or not you're going to be allowed to tag up on a fly ball. May I ask a question to the
05:01prosecutor? Yes. Who traded Mookie Betts to the Dodgers? Heimblum. Was it Heimblum's decision
05:11to trade Mookie to the Dodgers? No. Did Heimblum get fired basically because of that trade?
05:18Yes. So this ownership group has shown a propensity to fire people, even if it wasn't their fault.
05:24Okay. But do you think it also, he let Schwartz walk, right? Uh, that wasn't his decision.
05:30I mean, he didn't get, he didn't call him back and, uh, and then he replaced him with Yoshida.
05:36Uh, so you think Sam Kennedy was horned up to keep, uh, Schwarber. No, I, they probably,
05:42they, they, they, you're right. The organization probably didn't want to, I, I just, but he would,
05:48he could have called the guy back. And what's the answer then Curtis? Because then they hired
05:52a guy who's doing the same exact thing. Like that's my point where it's like with Alex Cora,
05:56it seems like they give him this long extension. He's making all the money in the world. I don't
06:01see them cutting ties with him and I don't see them cutting ties with Craig Breslow this, this soon.
06:06But you don't have the Wiggy's right about this right now. We're still happy about the Red Sox this
06:10year. They've had a bumpy ride recently, but it's been a pretty good year. If what Wiggy is saying
06:15happens, they will have had a abysmal late August and September to miss the playoffs. And then you're
06:22saying all these good vibes this whole year, league leading number of walk-off hits, the feeling of
06:28Fenway being back and loud and electric again, no longer is it overrun by opposing fans is all gone.
06:35Right. And if it's any other team in Boston, the coach is absolutely on the top.
06:40And who, and who's done more this season? The, the, the GM, he, he made the trade for
06:48Garrett Crochet. Then they extend Crochet. You get Bregman, even though you want to say
06:53it's Cora. That was Cora. Well, you're just telling me Cora has no say. So if he's got
06:59no say, then it is. Listen, Craig Breslow has done some good things. Roman Anthony. Roman
07:04Anthony, all these other players. He decided to bring Roman Anthony up. Right. But then he
07:07got him the contract. Yeah. Okay. Right. And then you fired the guy that drafted him and
07:12he wasn't the guy that drafted him. I will give him also Narvaez. Narvaez. There are some
07:17feathers in his cap. Right. And so what, what is change? None bigger than trading Devers and
07:22getting the Giants to eat the entire contract. John Henry loves Craig Breslow. Right.
07:26And then they suck too. And then the other thing is, so what has changed this year? You
07:31made some better moves. You've brought in some players, but what, what has stayed the
07:36same? We were told. The struggles in August and September by the manager. But we have been
07:40told that this team was different. That's my point. That the vibe was different. That
07:44it's a bunch of happy-go-lucky young guys. Right. And they don't get too, they don't get
07:49too high. No offense. And they don't get too low. Right. So that's what we've been told.
07:54Right. But who brought those guys in? That's where it, I believe when they look at Breslow,
07:58they say, okay, Breslow has done a good job for us. Curtis is right. You got rid of Devers
08:03and you got, you were able to have them eat all of the money. When you look at where this
08:08team has gone wrong, this would be four years in a row that Cora has struggled with his
08:15teams in August and September. There's no way you can say, you could say we can keep this
08:20guy. And there's no way you could tell me this guy's one of the best managers in baseball
08:23and you're paying him $7 million to fall apart four years in a row. Okay. Well, a very important
08:29series for the Boston Red Sox begins this evening.
