00:00How do you reflect on last year? Did you take personally quite a lot of confidence?
00:04Yeah, I think I played really well last year.
00:08I think after I came into the team around early December,
00:13I think I'm very happy with how I played and just grew in confidence
00:19and did the things that helped the team and helped myself getting more confident.
00:26Looking back, I'm pleased.
00:30I think you got three or four goals, didn't you, after the turn of the year?
00:33Yeah, three goals.
00:35If I'm playing the eight, that's obviously something that I really want to improve.
00:42I played, I think, more than 50% of the games last season as the holding six.
00:49It just depends where the gaffer wants me to play, if it's low or deeper.
00:56How I reflect on the games afterwards, really.
01:00Is creativity something big you think you can bring, even if you are deeper?
01:04Yeah, 100%.
01:06The pass against Berlin is obviously a great pass, but it gets a lot of credit
01:15because it ends with something.
01:17But it wasn't the only pass that I made last season.
01:22It's the way it is. It ended with a goal, so it gets a lot of credit, but it was a good pass.
01:31It was a good pass, yeah.
01:32For the team, how do you reflect on that? To come through something, a massive scare
01:36that could have gone terribly but didn't in the end?
01:38Yeah.
01:39And then you were going into this season a bit.
01:40I mean, those last eight games that we had after international break in March
01:46is just something that we've talked about, something that we will not allow to happen again.
01:51We've reflected on it and moved forward from it.
01:56Is it just every game approaching it the same, massive, because this league doesn't look easy?
02:01Yeah, 100%.
02:02I mean, when we come back from internationals, we're looking up.
02:08We're looking three, five points away from seventh, eighth place, you know,
02:13but then the ball just goes rolling and rolling and rolling and it maybe just gets in your head a bit.
02:18But we need to reset after every single game and get refocused again and not let surrounding things impact your head.
02:30Has a bit of change in the squad been welcomed this summer, new faces, new people to meet?
02:34Yeah, 100%. I feel the last that I've come in have come with real new energy
02:38and there are some really good characters off the field and they push us on the field as well.
02:44So it's been good. And yeah, I just hope they will bring what they've shown in training into the games now.
02:51Who are the biggest characters?
02:53No, I feel everybody's talking about, of course, Thierry is a very nice guy off the field and Odell as well.
02:59Jablison as well. They're really funny guys and they bring a lot of humour to the dressing room.
03:09Yeah, sorry. And yeah, and more, you know, all the guys that have come in are top quality professionals as well.
03:16So they push us, you know, guys that have a lot of games in the leagues here in England and it's good for us.
03:24Do you and Mads push each other quite a bit because we've seen the bond you've struck up
03:27and I think you both really back your ability.
03:29Yeah.
03:30You're just trying to get the most out of each other.
03:32Yeah, absolutely. I feel we speak very honestly with each other because we're that good friends.
03:36And so we can say things to each other that maybe, I don't know, I would say it to others,
03:42but you can just say it more freely without, you know, because you know him that well, you can say it freely to him.
03:49And yeah, we just push each other to be the best because we've seen that from each other, how it can be when we play really well together.
03:59Has it been big for you to have, you know, away from here as a friend?
04:03Yeah, massive, I think. I actually think like, I know everybody talks about it like in this club, but the dressing room is really easy to come into.
04:11I thought it would be a bigger step coming from Denmark going to England that the dressing room would be a bit more like closed off.
04:20But I think everybody is really open and that's been, it's very helpful for everyone that comes here.
04:26Is this homesickness not something you've really felt too much?
04:29No, I haven't really felt it since I moved abroad from Iceland, to be honest.
04:34I have my fiancée here and my family are really come over a lot.
04:40So it's, you know, it's not like in the old days when they had to send posts and that.
04:47You can just call them and FaceTime, so it's alright.
04:50There was a big moment for you this summer, wasn't it, personally?
04:52Yeah, yeah, two actually. I've got engaged and the missus is pregnant as well.
04:59So, yeah, just happy times going forward and it just pushes me, of course, also here at the training ground and in games that, you know, I'm not just doing it for myself.
05:13I'm like doing it for a higher purpose and it's something that pushes me on.
05:18Yeah, I bet you can get bogged down with football and stuff, but the last 12 months, if you look at it, you've got your move to England and all that, it must have been a good time, really.
05:25Yeah, it's been a great time if I reflect on the last 12 months. I feel everything, personal life and on the field. I've grown a lot, both here in the club level and as well in the national team.
05:40And I hope, I hope and I expect myself to take even bigger steps, be more dominant on the pitch physically and defensively in the championship this season because now I've got to know the league and I know what to do.
05:55So, yeah, that's the expectation I have for myself to be more dominant and take bigger steps this season.
06:03Any nerves proposing or will you come?
06:05Yeah, I was very nervous. Very nervous.
