00:38We're a Danish company. We're founded in 2002 in Copenhagen. We came to the UK a few years
00:45later with our first store in Regent Street and since then we've expanded, not just in
00:50the UK, but we've expanded globally and now we're operating stores in the international
00:56market in Dubai, in the US and now in Bristol. So it's a really exciting time for our expansion.
01:04Our ethos has always been that we're more than just coffee, juice and sandwiches. We're all
01:11about the culture.
01:12I think, to be honest, it was a no-brainer. Bristol is a very loud, vibrant city with a
01:18lot of individuality, right? And so are we as a brand. And I think it was a no-brainer
01:24to just bring those two together and come in here with a bang and with a good purpose.
01:31City centre shopping areas have struggled in recent years with the combined impact of online
01:36retail, the pandemic and the change in consumer habits. Broadmead in particular has seen several
01:43major retail closures with long-term questions hanging over the future of some key sites, but
01:49viral social media savvy brands are increasingly seen as a way to inject energy into urban retail
01:56zones and attract younger visitors. Tell me a little bit about why you've come to Bristol as a city then.
02:03We love the culture of Bristol, the kind of artistic flair, the individuality
02:08behind Bristol. It really aligns closely with our brand. At Joe and the Juice, as I mentioned,
02:13the culture is so unique in our brands in terms of the social ties, the flair that we have behind
02:19the bar as well. It aligns very closely with Bristol and its values. So we're really excited to be
02:25launching in Bristol. For the artwork, we commissioned three local artists in Bristol. They're called
02:31Mello, Royston and Sick Boy. So they've commissioned artwork for us using our pink colours and kind of
02:38just representing the elements of Bristol and Joe in the same way. We're really about embracing the
02:44culture that we're about to settle into, right? And we want to embrace that and kind of add our own bit
02:51into it in the same way. So I think, yeah, it was great to make a collaborative piece of artwork.
