There are some major changes coming to Bristol city centre streets.
Transcript
00:00Most construction for the major changes to Bristol City Centre streets is scheduled to begin next
00:09spring, funded through a £540 million government grant called the City Region Sustainable Transport
00:16Settlement. The majority of that funding must be used by March 2027. Bristol City Council says it
00:24expects significant disruption while the work takes place and has launched a new website with
00:30details about three major projects, covering the City Centre, the Portway and the No. 2 bus route
00:37along the A37 and A4018. An update on the plans was given to councillors at the Transport Policy
00:44Committee meeting recently. Committee Chair, Green Councillor Ed Plowden, said we need to prepare
00:50for our ongoing success as a city and all the extra journeys that our growing population will bring.
00:57We know there will be some disruption as we deliver projects that the city needs. He went on to say
01:03that the new website, Bristol on the Move, is a one-stop shop to find out more about the three
01:09main transport corridor projects funded by CRSTS. The website is said to make it easier for people
01:15to understand what's happening and why. From next April, buses will be diverted away from the Horse Fair,
01:22Penn Street and Union Street. Some routes will return to Union Street once construction is complete.
01:29Work to restrict vehicle access on the Horse Fair and Penn Street is expected to begin next summer.
01:36A new video on the Council's website shows what those changes will look like.
