An unemployed man pleaded guilty at the Johor Baru Sessions Court to setting fire to a tow truck belonging to Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) last Friday (Aug 15).
The accused, Wan Muhammad Nasrul Wan Ahmad, 31, entered the plea on Tuesday (Aug 19) after the charge was read before Judge Thalha Bachok @ Embok Mok.

00:1331-year-old Wan Muhammad Nasrul Wan Ahmad entered the plea after the charge was read before Judge Talha Bachok, alias Mbok Mok, on Tuesday.
00:21According to the charge sheet, he committed mischief by using petrol to set fire to an MBJB tow truck at the vehicle storage depot at Lot 1, Johor Bahru waterfront at about 11.07 a.m. on August 15, causing losses of RM24,000.
00:39It was reported that the incident was believed to have been triggered by the man's dissatisfaction after his perodwa aksia was towed a day earlier.
00:48Wan Muhammad Nasrul was charged under Section 435 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of 14 years and a fine.
00:57The court postponed sentencing to Wednesday and granted the accused bail of RM7,000, with conditions which included monthly police reporting.
01:06The accused told the court that, if given the chance, he wanted to apologize to MBJB and claimed he had his reasons for the act.
01:14The court reminded him he could only appeal against bail, not sentencing.
