00:00treat yourself to the BTCC live on motors TV with metal 5 giving new life to your engine
00:11welcome back to brand's hatch cars lined up on the grid we're getting ready for round four
00:19of the green flag MSA British touring car championship I'm Ben Edwards with Tim Harvey
00:23and Tim I know you've been scouting around the paddock a little bit finding out the latest
00:27good to see that Warren Hughes has made it onto the grid because I gather that was all a bit last
00:31minute yeah there was a lot of drama down there in the MG pits they literally have only just got
00:36the car down in time they had the engine out had to change it found a few technical problems and
00:40literally just made it in time so hopefully the car is actually all in one piece well it's good
00:46news but he's got to start from pretty much the back of the touring car field only Carl Brees is
00:50behind him so he's got a lot of work to do he has but we saw in the first race he was very fast probably
00:55the fastest of the MGs and his dander will be up after going off at the end of the last race so
01:00he's a car to watch for sure yeah and he loves this brand tax circuit so let's wait and see what
01:04happens to Warren Hughes as he tries to fight his way through the field James Kay ahead of him Dan
01:09Eves in another of the Peugeots there Michael Bentwood will try and win the production class again and
01:15he's got the BMW always quick off the line anyway but Luke Hines will be trying to come back at him
01:20they had a great dice in the early stages of the first race but Matt Neil he's uh I gather he's
01:25been ticked off a little bit Tim but he's been allowed to keep that pole position and the win
01:29from earlier yes the race result stands but he's had a knock on the rappel rap on the knuckles he's
01:36had a 500 pound fine and he'll have to be a little bit careful this time not to get into any more
01:41trouble yes there's a sort of penalty point system that applies so you don't want to pick up any
01:46penalty points at this stage on his license so uh wait and see what happens Ivan Muller alongside him
01:53on that front row well Ivan Muller yet to win a race this year okay we've only had three but he still
01:58hasn't won one of any of them yet so we'll have to see whether he gets away that's the view from
02:03on board Ivan Muller's car the clear track ahead up towards paddock hill bend can he get off the line
02:09well he did make a pretty good start from the second row of the grid on race number one
02:12and Matt Neil made an adequate start I would say not much more than that
02:16and James Thompson was very slow off pole position for race number one so it's not always the best
02:22place to be here and watch out for Anthony Reid that's the on board view he's on the outside of
02:27row two if he gets a clear run into paddock watch for him trying to go around the outside
02:30absolutely sometimes around the outside of paddock is the best way to go he's got slightly less
02:36camera on the road as well being higher up so he may well make a good start
02:40so they move away on their green flag lat now get a little bit of tyre temperature up
02:46and making their way around meanwhile we're talking about the problems for the MG cam and Vicky
02:52here's with Dick Bennett
02:53Dick what was the problem with Warren's car because I saw the engine was out
02:57yes unfortunately Warren was doing a storming race finished up in the gravel through no fault of his
03:03own and to be safe we checked the engine over it was okay then they went to fire it up and it
03:08wouldn't run so then we had to then take it out again and put another new one in so yeah the guys
03:13have done a storming job and uh yeah hopefully he has a good race thank you well they'd be working
03:19hard down there let's just hope that uh Warren can back that up with a good performance let's take a
03:23look at the starting lineup then for this second race it's Matt Neil and Ivan Muller on the front row
03:28of the grid Paul O'Neill and the MG of Anthony Reid on the second row on the third row James Thompson
03:33and Colin Turkington are in the MG then it's Alan Morrison in his Honda Civic and Gavin Piper the top
03:39independent David Leslie and Philip Bennett next up in their two Protonimpians then it's Dan Eves
03:45and James Kaye in his Honda Civic a Tourer class this year remember Rob Collard in the independent
03:50Astra then Warren Hughes all the way back in 14th place Carl Brees behind him and then we're into the
03:56production class Mike Bentwood on pole position for that then it's uh Luke Hines Paul Wallace Alan
04:01Blenko and Jim Edwards so Jim Edwards starting in 20th place and uh hoping to score a few points he
04:09lost out to Michael Bentwood effectively in the points chase after that first race so they're just
04:15getting a little bit of tyre temperature up now track conditions have remained good all day
04:19a somewhat different environment to the one we saw at Mondello Park a couple of weeks ago but it's
04:24still allowed plenty of close racing earlier today Tim well too close for some obviously but
04:30yes great racing brand's Indy circuit always produces very close grids and very close racing and not
04:36not a fair short of its um share of excitement and I'm sure we're set for some more of the same in the
04:41second race by a lot of weaving going on you can see uh you can see from an onboard Ivan Müller a moment
04:46they're quite aggressive trying to get some tyre temperature up it's not a particularly abrasive
04:51circuit so they try and get some tyre temperature up by weaving the car from side to side loading up the
04:56tyres as much as possible uh but although it's not a particularly abrasive track Tim it is it does build
05:02up a lot of heat as you go through a race because the tyres don't really get a rest yeah and don't
05:06forget the first race was the first one on the Dunlop tyres this year in the dry and I know all the
05:10drivers were very happy with the performance of the tyre there didn't appear to be a lot of drop off in the
05:15race therefore meaning that they could make their pit stop really when they chose to do so
05:19but it is important to get tyre temperature and having had the experience of the first race under
05:24their belts there may have been some changes that they've made just to pressures and little things
05:28to get ready for this second race well as again they have a 35 lap race they have to come into the
05:33pit somewhere between lap number 14 and lap number 26 in order to make a tyre change to change two wheels
05:41minimum two wheels in that pit stop window between laps 14 and 26
05:46so the car's in position almost we've just got the tail enders of the grid to move into position
05:56Matt Neil has to just wait pole position until everyone else is ready to go
06:02Michael Bentwood a little slow to take his place on the grid he is now just creeping into position
06:12alongside the Peugeot of Carl Brees but the front row is all about Matt Neil on pole position and
06:18Ivan Muller on that front row with him the second row remember is Paul O'Neill and Anthony Reid and the
06:24third row James Thompson and we've got to watch out for Colin Turkington alongside him the lights go to green and it's a great sound from Ivan Muller
06:32Muller makes a real rocket getaway Matt Neil's on the grass then as the front end of the car just washed out towards the pit wall Matt Neil's being engulfed by the entire pack
06:41Ivan Muller's got away with it and Anthony Reid trying to go around the outside of Padakil Bend
06:46trying to take second place away from Paul O'Neill but he's not sure he's going to do it
06:50O'Neill holds the inside also coming through there Alan Morrison
06:53Matt Neil's right back and we've got a car off into the gravel it's Phil Bennett
06:56who's gone off in the Proton right up to the tyre barrier on the outside
07:00but what a good battle we've got going on here between the Hondas and the MGs
07:04but it's the two Vauxhals who've got away ahead it's Ivan Muller ahead of Paul O'Neill
07:09yeah it's a terrible start there unfortunately for Matt Neil he just got too much wheel spin and he nearly slipped right into the pit wall
07:15yeah it's amazing he just slipped right down the hill
07:18did exactly what you spoke about earlier on
07:20but now he's in the battle here and James Thompson is with him it's Matt Neil versus James Thompson
07:25as Ivan Muller comes across the line
07:28Phil Bennett is out of his car he's fine but the Proton looks a bit damaged
07:32as we're back with those Hondas and the battle with Thompson
07:35oh and Muller oh he's almost put it it was O'Neill actually sorry
07:38it was O'Neill almost put it in the gravel trap on the exit of Padakil Bend
07:41Muller had just already gone through
07:43and O'Neill suffered nearly through second place away
07:46and to be Reid running in third place then it's Colin Turkington in fourth Alan Morrison in fifth
07:51then Matt Neil and James Thompson absolutely together and David Leslie's on the back of that little queue
07:58yeah Muller's got the chance that we want he wanted now although his car is fairly heavy he's got a bit of a healthy gap
08:03he hasn't got the fastest car Matt Neil up behind him and he really wants to capitalise on this
08:08so good opportunity this for Ivan Muller
08:12Warren Hughes has got past a couple of people already he's up to 12th got past both of the MGs
08:17so this is the battle between the Hondas and James Thompson
08:21Matt Neil now wanting to get back past his teammate Alan Morrison who's running in fifth place
08:26so fifth sixth and seventh we're looking at as they exit Padakil Bend
08:31two Peugeots then coming through and the leader in the production class is Michael Beckwood in the BMW
08:37but back with Alan Morrison and Matt Neil and it's still Morrison just ahead of his teammate
08:43as James Thompson follows them through Graham Hill Bend
08:45Ivan Muller Paul O'Neill the top two and it's Anthony Reid and Colin Turkington
08:50two Boxalls two MGs and two Hondas it's all very neat and tidy at the moment
08:54yes and two Peugeots behind them but we're looking at a move now by Warren Hughes up the inside of Gavin Piper
08:59very neatly done he's got through very cleanly yeah that was a good move from Hughes
09:03so he's on his way up through the field but how much time has he got
09:07don't forget the car's pretty light so that helps him under braking as well
09:10and Gavin Piper not wanting to get into trouble with one of the championship cars cars
09:15he wants to win the independent category remember
09:17still right over the kerb on the exit of Padakil Bend
09:21Alan Morrison and Matt Neil past his lap for our race leader though
09:25and he passed Muller not quite very much because only fractions of a second separating them at the moment
09:30it's very close at the moment but Ivan's building a nice little lead
09:34the two MGs just behind having a battle and the two Hondas as well
09:38Matt Neil I think slightly frustrated at his bad start
09:41and he'll be anxious to try and get past his teammate Morrison
09:44well these two MGs putting on a good display at the moment
09:47the very experienced Anthony Reid
09:49man who's been competing in motor racing from many years ago
09:5445 years old now but he's up against Colin Turkin to the youngster in the team
09:57the 21 year old has come through civil make salutes
10:01the Fiesta Championship
10:02he's a former grass track racer as well
10:04and now he's trying to get on terms with Anthony Reid
10:08we're on board with Reid right now
10:10Colin Turkin to following him shadowing him as they come through the epic
10:14it's still Ivan Muller who leads and Paul O'Neill in second
10:17awkward situation this between teammates
10:20nobody likes to be following their team
10:22it always really gets wide over the curbs there
10:25no one likes to follow their teammate for too long
10:27but really you have to pay a little bit of due deference to the man in front
10:31and not take any chances which could affect your overall manufacturer point score
10:35yeah good point
10:36they don't want to lose any more points
10:37they have to
10:38they have a tough enough start to the season as it is
10:40behind them are the two Hondas
10:42and it's still Alan Morrison
10:44and Matt Neill
10:45Muller comes across the line
10:47five laps completed
10:48he has an advantage of 1.2 seconds
10:50over teammate Paul O'Neill
10:52Matt Neill still having a little look at getting past his teammate
10:55Warren Hughes going through there in ninth position
10:58so Hughes has managed to get past David Leslie
11:01but we gather that Gavin Kleipa has had problems
11:06he's in the pits
11:07they've got the bonnet up
11:08so obviously a fairly terminal problem there
11:10which gives the independence lead to Rob Collard again
11:14so Collard yes
11:15we'll be hoping to capitalise on that
11:17as these two MGs continue to do battle over
11:21fourth or third place
11:23Anthony Reid in third
11:24Colin Turkington in fourth position
11:26and then that slight gap back to the two Hondas
11:29nothing to choose between them
11:30and James Thompson is also right in that battle as well
11:33they just need to try and work together perhaps a little bit
11:36not contest the position too much
11:38because they must not let the two Moxels ahead
11:40get too far ahead of them before pit stops are made
11:46in the background there you can see James Thompson
11:48aggressive through Paddock Hill Bend
11:50but not in a position to challenge the two Hondas ahead of him
11:53the last few laps James Thompson's been looking very hard up the inside of Matt Neill
11:58into the final corner at Clearways
12:00locking the brakes up and getting ever so close
12:02but he hasn't quite found a way through yet
12:04well don't count him out yet
12:06James Thompson winner of both races at Mondello to start this season
12:09he is the reigning champion
12:10and he didn't have a particularly good run in his 200th British steering car race earlier on today
12:15look at Reid gone wide
12:16and Turkington's gone through on the inside
12:18Colin Turkington's taking that third place as they come out of Clearways
12:22and that was a good move
12:23but Reid's little mistake
12:25just enough for Colin Turkington to take advantage
12:27well that's pressure from the youngster there showing on Anthony Reid
12:31Colin Turkington very quick, very young, very aggressive
12:34he loved putting the pressure on his older teammates
12:36and it was Reid that cracked
12:38he was
12:39yes indeed
12:40just skating a little wide turning in
12:41and Turkington said thank you
12:42although he's now a little wide
12:44look at that
12:45right out of this wide line
12:46that drew a bit
12:47so I think he's just about got it back in time
12:49he has but he'll have picked up a few marbles on his tyres
12:51as we see Dan Eve's car retiring
12:53unfortunate
12:54another disappointing debut for the Halfers team
12:56but they'll get better
12:57you know if you run wide on the corner
12:59you're going to pick up a lot of dirt on your tyres
13:01it takes a few corners to clean that off
13:03and you can see Reid attacking straight away back
13:06as Turkington's running wide again
13:08well this is a great view from onboard with Anthony Reid
13:10Colin Turkington almost letting him back through then
13:13and it's on the approach to Paddock Hill then
13:15that Reid will try and take advantage
13:17although he's not really close enough
13:18and he's got to watch out
13:19because Alan Morrison's only just behind him now
13:21and Matt Neill's right there as well
13:23so is James Thompson
13:24yeah this little battle between the two MGs
13:27as they run wide again
13:28has allowed both the Hondas and Thompson to close right up
13:31so we could soon be looking at the five-car chain
13:34well it's good stuff
13:36Thompson hasn't found a way past either of the Hondas yet
13:38but they're getting closer together all the time
13:41Ivan Muller has the advantage
13:43Paul O'Neill's in a pretty comfortable second
13:45oh no on the grass
13:46Matt Neill's on the grass down there at Graham Hill Bend
13:48Thompson's just got past him
13:49so Thompson gains that one place
13:51just nipping through
13:52as Matt Neill was just wide out of Graham Hill Bend
13:55again only a slight mistake
13:57but in this sort of company
13:59if you make one little mistake
14:00somebody's going to have your place
14:02absolutely that was a little mistake
14:03if you like
14:04that James Thompson was looking for
14:06and I think if this group really get together quite closely
14:09we could see some different pit strategies from them
14:12when the window opens
14:13because if you're running in traffic
14:14and being held up
14:15the best thing to do is get in the pits
14:17do your compulsory pit stop
14:18and get back out into some fresh air
14:20well Matt Neill will be even more disappointed now
14:22he was on pole position
14:24had an opportunity to try and take a second race win here today
14:28but he's dropped right down the order
14:30and Thompson now has a challenge
14:33and at the back of this little group now
14:36amazingly Warren Hughes has also caught up to this battle
14:39so that's pretty impressive from the back of the Tourers
14:42excellent drive
14:43he was the fastest of the MG drivers in the first race
14:45and he's really on a mission
14:47very disappointed to lose that position on the last lap of the first race
14:51and Warren is now going to be joining this train
14:53and sticking in amongst them I'm sure
14:55yeah he's currently in eighth place
14:57behind him is the leading independent class car
14:59that is Rob Collard
15:01because Hughes crosses the line
15:02Michael Bentwood still leads in the production class
15:04from Luke Hines and Paul Wallace
15:06so status quo in the production class
15:09but Warren Hughes the man on the charge
15:11he was so rapid in the first race
15:13he's got absolutely no ballast on board at all
15:15in fact he's removed ballast as a result of not finishing the first race
15:19the car's running light
15:21and now he's beginning to put the pressure on Matt Neill
15:23yeah that five car train has now developed with Colin Turkington
15:28stretching out a bit of a lead in front of them
15:30and not far behind them Rob Collard really hanging on very well as the leading independent
15:35yeah it's good to see that
15:36and it just shows that the privateers can run competitively
15:39with the rules as they are in touring cars now
15:41that's got to be good news for everybody as still this battle rages
15:45Anthony Reid now really beginning to defend from Alan Morrison
15:49Alan Morrison in the Honda looking for an opportunity perhaps here to go down the inside
15:53but Reid knows how late he could break into Paddock
15:56there's a little puff of smoke he breaks so late and look at Thompson
15:59Thompson really carried a lot of speed into Paddock Gilben
16:02but there was nowhere for him to go
16:04and now he's trying to go all the way around the outside as Morrison gets boxed in
16:07well it's very difficult to get around the outside
16:10sometimes you can do it but it's very very difficult
16:13the track's dirty and it's a longer way to go around
16:15well this is great stuff no one quite knows where to go next
16:18look at them
16:19Matt Neill in the train as well
16:21Anthony Reid is the one leading it for the moment
16:23Morrison right behind him
16:25then James Thompson
16:26James Thompson in the Vauxhall
16:28chased by Matt Neill
16:29and then Warren Hughes working his way up from the back of the grid
16:33and this is the charge as they come out of clearways
16:36and Thompson could be well placed now
16:38it could be Thompson who has a chance to challenge into Paddock Gilben
16:42the leaders have come through
16:44Muller and O'Neill
16:45Turkington's gone through in third
16:46and here comes this raging battle for fourth
16:49well it like we have to thank Anthony Reid for making this exciting for us
16:53he's holding them up terribly
16:55and they're going to be some excited and frustrated drivers in there
16:58there's pushing
16:59that's Morrison
17:00that's Morrison getting a push from Thompson
17:02and that allows
17:04Reedy to stretch out a little bit more
17:05and in the background
17:06Hughes is diving up the inside
17:08oh and now Morrison's gone wide
17:10Morrison's on the grass
17:11and he's lost that place to Thompson
17:12exactly the same mistake that Matt Neill made a moment ago
17:15and it's now Morrison that's done it
17:17and that's allowed James Thompson championship leader
17:19to say thank you very much boys
17:21I'm through here
17:22and now he's going chasing after Reid
17:23and Matt Neill got through as well
17:25so those positions reversed once again in the Hondas
17:28oh big shunt on the straight
17:30production class car
17:32Chris Ryan
17:33Chris Ryan
17:34has turned the car around
17:35onto the pit straight
17:36didn't see if there was contact there
17:38but that's a big accident
17:40yes now this surely will bring the safety car out
17:42and we're on lap number 13
17:44not quite in the pit lane open scenario
17:48but very nearly
17:49pit lane opens on lap number 14
17:51so pretty close to that in the car
17:54I'm glad to say by the way
17:55Chris has just stepped out of the car
17:56he's okay
17:57yes he looks completely unharmed
17:58these cars are incredibly strong
18:00so even a hit like that against a wall
18:03and they're structurally intact
18:05so glad to see he's alright
18:07this is a bit of a disaster unfortunately for Ivan Müller
18:10he's going to lose the lead that he had
18:12as everyone catches up the gap they had to him
18:15that's right yes
18:16it was looking good for Müller
18:18he had opened up an advantage
18:19he and Paul O'Neill were looking in good shape
18:22but well Chris Ryan
18:25that was a big big hit indeed
18:27he didn't quite know what started it all off
18:29good thing is he's okay
18:31as we can see making his way down the pit lane
18:33there is the car
18:34and you can't really see the full extent of the damage
18:36the front end of the car
18:38really looking pretty knocked about I have to say
18:41there we are
18:43so Ivan Müller is our race leader
18:46but his advantage has been wiped out by the safety car
18:49teams are getting ready to make pit stops
18:52for their compulsory pit stop to change two wheels
18:55and it looks as though quite a few of the crews are all set
18:58to receive their cars
19:01I'm glad to see you in one piece
19:06what happened?
19:07well I got overtaken by the two voxels
19:10last time I looked in my mirror there was nobody there
19:12as I came out of clearways I saw Wave Blues
19:15looked in my mirror
19:17and that was it
19:18you got hit at exactly the same time
19:20you know these cars are a lot quicker than us
19:24I would have said he had time to wait a couple of seconds
19:29to establish my position
19:30as it is the cars
19:32pricked
19:33there was some hefty whack into the hole
19:35yeah well it's fine anyway
19:37and you're okay?
19:38yeah I'm fine
19:39thanks Vic
19:40oh
19:41thank you
19:42we need some budget now
19:43thanks Vicky
19:44well we got all of the leaders into the pits already
19:47and some of them already making their way out
19:50Ivan Muller getting out very quickly
19:51Colin Turkington managing to gain second place there
19:55as behind him comes Paul O'Neill
19:57yes and there was some confusion between some of the drivers further back
20:00wanting to come in the pit lane
20:02and then at the last minute not coming in
20:04I think the pit crew either weren't ready or couldn't decide which car to bring in first
20:08and both of the Hondas have actually carried on around the circuit
20:11and haven't pitted yet
20:13well that's an interesting one
20:15I'm surprised they haven't been in yet
20:17but the pit lane is open
20:19also interesting as I saw Reid come out of the pits there Tim
20:22he suddenly seemed to go quite quickly
20:24as he went past Thompson
20:25and then suddenly slowed down
20:26as if his pit lane speed limit didn't work or something
20:28so he may be in a bit of trouble
20:30we'll have to watch out for that
20:31he could well be
20:32and they actually continued the argument as to who was in front
20:34out on the track
20:35it took half a lap before they could decide who should be in front
20:38so I think Tom O's on the radio already to his team saying
20:41I'm not at all sure that Reid should have done what he's just done
20:44so there could be some arguments going on down there
20:48as they come around behind the safety car
20:50now the question is which Honda has come into the pits
20:52who has seniority in the pit lane
20:54it's going to be Matt Neill that's in the pit lane
20:57because this Chris Ryan's car is going to be moved in probably another lap
21:01so will Morrison still be able to make his pit stop under the safety car
21:05oh that's almost two cars almost colliding
21:08that's Hughes and Matt Neill nearly coming together
21:11oh and Hughes has suddenly stopped
21:13oh because the lights are on at the end of the pit lane
21:15he's got a red light at the end of the pit lane
21:17and now he's been allowed to go out there waiting for the crocodile of cars to come past
21:20now it looks as though he's stalled it
21:22Matt Neill is stuck behind him
21:23there's not a lot he can do
21:24now Hughes needs to push
21:26Neill trying to go around the outside
21:28oh this is horrible horrible for Matt Neill
21:30finally Hughes gets going
21:32but it's Neill stalled now
21:33oh dear oh dear
21:35this is awful for Matt Neill
21:37well I've never seen anything like that ever
21:40never seen that
21:42he must be absolutely seething
21:44and if he's not lucky
21:45he's going to lose out
21:46if they can't get that car going quickly
21:48he's going to lose a lap
21:50it wouldn't have made it
21:51oh he's got it he's got it going
21:52thank goodness for that
21:53the safety car still coming through clearways
21:54he has not lost the lap
21:56he hasn't but he's going to be absolutely stone last
21:59and stone livid as well
22:01well we'll have to see what happens
22:03of course Alan Morrison
22:05is just having a look at
22:08Alan Morrison who's down there just now
22:10let's go down to Vicky in the pit lane
22:13Gavin what happened there?
22:15the drive shaft broke
22:16unfortunately it's a very important bit
22:18that makes the car go forward
22:19so that's just retired out of the race quite early on
22:22so big disappointment
22:23because the team have done such a good job
22:25and you know we could have won another independence race I think
22:28so a bit gutted
22:29but you know we'll go to trucks and wanting another couple wins
22:32lovely thank you
22:33no problem
22:34thanks Vicky
22:35well bad luck to Gavin Piper
22:36he does seem to have some of the bad luck
22:38but he had a good performance earlier on today
22:40well Alan Morrison has just been into the pits and has come back out
22:44but Honda have really lost out on this Tim
22:46why
22:47I wonder why they didn't come in when everyone else came in as you said
22:50well it was definitely confusion
22:52I saw both cars aiming to come in the pit lane
22:54and then suddenly diverting back onto the track at the last minute
22:57so either they couldn't decide who could come in first
22:59and they certainly couldn't obviously service both cars at once
23:02unlike the VX racing team who serviced two cars at the same time
23:05so really a mess up there by the Honda team
23:08and that's put both cars at the back
23:10so behind the safety car we've got a lapped car
23:13that is Jim Edwards in the production class car
23:16but it means we now have Ivan Muller leading this race
23:19after the first, well after the only pit stops have been made
23:22Muller leads, Turkington is second
23:25and Paul O'Neill is third
23:27so there's the lapped car going through
23:29there you can see Muller
23:30then it's Turkington in the MG
23:31O'Neill in the Vauxhall
23:32then it's Anthony Reid in the MG
23:33James Thompson in another Vauxhall
23:35and then it's Michael Bentwood
23:37because of course the production class cars
23:39do not have to make a pit stop
23:40so Michael Bentwood is running in a genuine sixth place overall at the moment
23:45his car lights are off
23:46so they will get restarted at the end of this lap
23:49and Michael Bentwood is going to be in
23:53he's in sixth place leading the production class
23:55he's got a bit of a few cars between him
23:57and the next production class car which is Luke Hines
24:00now one issue we've got here we've got Jim Edwards Jr. is the first car behind the safety car
24:07and obviously his car being a production car is not as powerful as the touring cars behind it
24:12but they're not allowed to pass him until they pass the start finish line
24:15so we need to watch carefully and see whether there's some bunching behind
24:18or if anyone jumps the gun and pass him too early
24:22Ivan Muller has backed it off for a little bit
24:24now Jim Edwards goes the pace car comes in
24:26and they have to wait until they get to the line before they can actually go past
24:32so Ivan Muller leads on the restart he manages to sneak ahead of Jim Edwards
24:39and he's chased by Colin Turkington the youngster now really sensing an opportunity here
24:44he did not get a race start in Mondella all sorts of bad luck
24:47but now the youngster has got an opportunity to go chasing after the Frenchman Muller
24:52well Muller timed that to perfection didn't he just got the run on Jim Edwards enough to pass him cleanly into paddock
24:59but he's got a race on his hand this young buck Colin Turkington
25:02he's not going to give up easily and he hasn't won a touring car race yet
25:05so he'll be really keen to do it
25:07there was the field were very spread out on the restart
25:10the safety car was going round at a very quick speed
25:13and Matt Neil was some 11 seconds later than Ivan Muller crossing the start finish line at the start of that lap
25:19so they have got a bit spread out as you say
25:22but it's the battle up front that we're keeping an eye on at the moment
25:24Ivan Muller versus Colin Turkington
25:26Muller trying to get away a little bit
25:27and then in third place
25:29it's Paul O'Neill and Anthony Reid in fourth place
25:32James Thompson in fifth
25:34then it's David Leslie in sixth place
25:36with Michael Bettswood in the production car next up
25:39and then we've got Carl Brees and Warren Hughes
25:42Hughes having lost out a lot
25:44he was one of the last to come in on that safety car
25:47and that's lost him a fair bit of ground
25:49so poor Warren Hughes
25:50going up and down like a yo-yo today
25:52and he's got to do it all over again
25:54there is Hughes
25:55and he's got himself ahead of the Peugeot of Carl Brees
26:00he was behind him a second ago
26:02so he's still on a charge
26:03he's got some production class cars to deal with
26:05and indeed the leading independent class car of Rob Collard
26:09to find a way past
26:10well 39 kilos the weight difference between Colin Turkington's lightweight MG
26:15and Ivan Muller's slightly heavier voxel
26:19so this is perhaps a really good opportunity
26:21for Colin Turkington to stamp his authority on the situation
26:25and get his first win
26:26well he's certainly aggressive
26:28and in the background you could see Anthony Reid
26:31going on with his battle with James Thompson
26:33there look at that
26:34two of them together
26:36Anthony Reid on the right hand side of the picture
26:37and James Thompson now
26:39looking to find a way past
26:41so far there isn't enough of a gap
26:43to squeeze his Astra Coupe through
26:45but he's going to have a go
26:46going towards Surtees
26:47he's got the inside line
26:48oh and he's managed to sneak through there
26:50and Reid just does not seem to be able to hold him off today
26:53no Anthony was struggling in the first part of the race
26:56and I thought maybe a fresh set of tyres on the front might help him
26:59but he's still struggling just to maintain the pace
27:02so voxel showing better than expected perhaps here
27:05at Brands Hatch this weekend
27:07it was expected to be an MG circuit
27:10well it might still be
27:11because Colin Turkington is in second place
27:13great cue from onboard Anthony Reid's card
27:16look at this three-way battle that's going on
27:18a little further down the order
27:19Morrison
27:20sorry Matt Neill that is
27:22with Morrison just ahead of him
27:24and Carl Brees just behind
27:25and Rob Collard there as well
27:27yeah this is a good battle
27:29and in fact we're at
27:30we've got
27:31we'll have
27:32we'll join us after the break
27:33keep driving on premium at the BTCC on Motors TV
27:47with Super 5 the lead substitute
27:50welcome back to Brands Hatch
27:55we're in round 4 of the British Touring Car Championship
27:58and up front it's Ivan Muller the Frenchman
28:01leading after 25 laps of the 35 has been completed
28:05and the restart worked well for him
28:07and he's managed to pull away a little bit
28:08from the challenge of Colin Turkington
28:10and in fact now Tim if anything
28:12Turkington's beginning to have to watch his mirrors
28:14because he's got not one but two voxels chasing him down
28:17and Turkington there just put a wheel on the grass
28:19out of Graham Hill Bend
28:20yeah as you said that the pressure got to him
28:22he ran wide and he's got those hunting voxels behind him
28:25Paul O'Neill and James Thompson
28:27battle between the independence class
28:29for the win is now between these two
28:31Carl Brees and James Kaye because just a moment ago
28:34we saw Rob Collard pull off to the side of the circuit
28:36and that's great disappointment he had a good opportunity here
28:39to add to his point score and add to his championship lead
28:43but now it's between Carl Brees and James Kaye
28:45both of whom have had very difficult starts to their season
28:48both could do with some decent points
28:50and now they're challenging one another for that independent class win
28:54but here's the battle for second
28:55and as you can see Turkington and the MG
28:58perhaps as the tyres are getting more worn I don't know
29:00but the voxel of Paul O'Neill definitely closing up
29:03the voxels appear to be very good over the race distance on long runs
29:08the MG slightly more erratic
29:10but he's under pressure now Colin Turkington
29:13and this will really see how level-headed he can stay
29:16yes this is going to be a tough one for him
29:18because we've still got nine laps to go
29:20and behind him he's got Paul O'Neill
29:22he's also got reigning champion James Thompson
29:24and Thompson knows that Ivan Muller's got the opportunity to win this race
29:27and open up a championship lead
29:29to see this little seesaw battle between them
29:32go the way of the Frenchman if it stays the way it is
29:36reliability of course is a major factor
29:39O'Neill just putting a wheel up on the kerb at Paddock Hill Bend
29:42flicks the back end of the car out slightly but he controls it well
29:46but these two really are showing James Thompson
29:50that it's a good battle opening up before him
29:53in fact Thompson might just play it a little cautiously to see what happens ahead
29:56well as we've seen anything can happen in touring car racing
29:59and James Thompson is the most experienced of this trio
30:02as we look at Carl Breeze defending his independence lead very vigorously
30:06Carl's been putting in some quick laps
30:08he's had a disastrous start to the season
30:10but the Helfast car looks to be running reliably
30:12and he'll be very pleased if he can get an independence win
30:14now if you're wondering what's happened to the Hondas
30:17let me tell they're still both running
30:18they're running absolutely together down in eighth and ninth places
30:21for Alan Morrison and Matt Neill
30:23but they're not really featuring as a result of their pit strategy
30:26some laps ago they really did not call it well at all
30:29look at O'Neill very crossed up through Paddock Hill bend
30:32but he keeps his foot in and stays close to the wheel tracks of Colin Turkington
30:38James Thompson's there as well
30:40there's seven laps to go now
30:42and Turkington's got his work cut out to keep these two behind him
30:45well that seven laps will feel like an eternity to Colin Turkington
30:48he wishes the flag will come out now
30:51James Thompson will be desperate to try and get through past his teammate
30:55and claim at least third place in a pace on the podium
30:58and he'd really like second
31:00yeah it makes a big difference in the early stages of this championship
31:03Thompson very aware that it would be silly to throw it away with a too aggressive a challenge
31:08but nonetheless he needs to score some points as Muller looks comfortable
31:12there is Muller going through the picture
31:13and his gap up to 3.9 seconds so very healthy advantage indeed
31:19second place for Colin Turkington
31:21then Paul O'Neill and James Thompson
31:23and still it's a little bit of stalemate
31:25but surely somebody's going to have a bit of a go in a moment
31:28Turkington turns in quite deeply for Druids
31:30but there's no chance for O'Neill to take advantage of that
31:33Turkington so far driving very nicely
31:36apart from this corner Graham Hill where he's been consistently running wide
31:39that lap he does it nicely
31:40but he isn't having to defend his lines too hard
31:43he's actually managing to maintain the racing line
31:46and just his pace is keeping him in front of the boxers
31:49but as the race goes on
31:50he'll get a bit more anxious
31:51he'll start defending
31:52and that's when the action can happen
31:54so O'Neill follows him
31:57keeps the pressure on
31:58it's still Ivan Muller who leads this race
32:00and VX Racing are looking in great shape once again here today
32:05they lost the first race this afternoon on the last lap to Honda
32:09but it's certainly not going Honda's way in this race
32:11with Alan Morrison down in eighth place
32:13Matt Neill down in ninth place
32:14a little bit of a run there for Paul O'Neill
32:16but again Turkington breaks plenty late into Druids
32:19and there's no opportunity to go through
32:21our leader in the independence class is now James Kaye
32:25who's managed to get past Carl Brees
32:27and this a moment ago
32:28of the two Hondas involved in their own little battle
32:31Matt Neill getting past Alan Morrison
32:34so now Matt Neill's come up to eighth place
32:36Matt Neill desperate to try and make up for a disastrous race
32:40from his point of view
32:41started off badly if you remember with that big wheel spin off the line
32:44and it's just gone from bad to worse
32:46and all he could really salvage is beating his teammate
32:50Turkington has to watch out for some traffic ahead
32:52that is Jim Edwards in the production class Honda Accord
32:55in the team Vata entry
32:57and he'll be out in a Peugeot 307 soon
32:59when they get the second car finished
33:01but he's going to just race here at France
33:04with that Honda Accord one more time
33:06up towards the hairpin
33:09in the background we can see the other two MGs of Reid and Hughes
33:12but they're not really able to close up to this battle
33:15Anthony Reid running in fifth place
33:18Warren Hughes down in sixth position
33:20but it's Colin Turkington
33:22who's leading the MG attack at the moment
33:24now what's happening here is Paul O'Neill allowing James Thompson through
33:27very definitely
33:28Paul's had the radio call from the pits
33:30move over Sonny, let the boss through
33:32and James Thompson's gone through
33:34and now we'll see whether James can get past Colin Turkington
33:37I think the team felt
33:38well if Paul O'Neill couldn't get past Colin
33:40give James a try
33:42yeah and that's probably a pretty sensible move
33:45Thompson can decide just how hard he's going to push
33:48and I'm sure Turkington will be only too well aware
33:51that he's now got the reigning champion bearing down on him
33:54and that might just add to the pressure a little
33:56as they head up towards Druis
33:57they've got the back marker Paul Wallace
33:59just out of them in the production class car
34:01he does stay out wide just about
34:04takes to the grass in fact
34:06to make sure he keeps out of the way
34:08he couldn't have really got any wider there could he
34:10otherwise he'd have been Lord Murray
34:12well Turkington's still there
34:14but look how Thompson's closed up the gap
34:16over the last lap or so
34:17and now you can just see in the background there
34:20the other two MGs of Reid and Hughes
34:22Thompson closes up on the approach to clearways
34:24try and get a good drive off this corner
34:26because this leads towards Paddock Hill Bend
34:28gets a good exit out of there
34:30but is it going to be enough?
34:31well it's going to be all on the brakes
34:33and now battle is joined until the end of this race
34:36he's, Turkington's going to have to defend
34:38Tomo's looking down the inside
34:40there's a bit of moving about
34:42but this is really going to slow them down
34:44who's going to get a run here?
34:46well Paul O'Neill didn't he managed to go wide
34:48even though he wasn't involved in the battle itself
34:50now Turkington's gone wide
34:52oh Thompson seizes just that little chance
34:54but of course Turkington should have the inside line
34:56for the left hand although Thompson's gone down the inside
34:59they hit sideways for Turkington
35:02he holds it
35:03oh Turkington drives back into Thompson
35:06and he goes off big time on the exit of Graham Hill Bend
35:09and I think that perhaps Turkington felt a little aggrieved
35:12almost seemed to come back again
35:14no I think that was a mistake
35:16he wasn't deliberate at all
35:17he was trying to stop the car from spinning
35:20by giving it full power on acceleration
35:22and he had a little bit of steering lock on
35:24and when it gripped it just unfortunately turned him into Thompson
35:27it wasn't deliberate at all
35:29and obviously he's lost out from a great race
35:31well that's a great shame because what a superb performance
35:34he put on to that point
35:36and it means that now it is a VX Racing 1-2-3
35:39it's the Astras all heading for the podium
35:42as James Thompson is now into second place
35:44Paul O'Neill is in third tip
35:46talk us through this again
35:47well Thompson's been all over the back and coming down the hill
35:51he leaves his braking really really late
35:53but he doesn't get cleanly alongside
35:55tries to back out the mover and just tags the back of Turkington
35:58who's now got full throttle on
36:00but he's not got the steering straight
36:01we didn't see it from the behind angle
36:03and it just clips the back of Thompson's car
36:06which then sends Turkington clean off into the barriers
36:09so Turkington mighty unfortunate there
36:12that was just one of those incidents really
36:14where there's not much space
36:16and the checker flag is out
36:17it's Ivan Muller who comes through to take the victory
36:20second place for James Thompson
36:22third place for Paul O'Neill
36:24and then the two MGs of Anthony Reid and Warren Hughes next up
36:28good result for David Leslie
36:29he'll be pleased to get the Proton home in sixth position
36:32disappointment for Honda though
36:34that pit strategy really hurting them in the end
36:37with Matt Neill down in seventh
36:39and Alan Morrison finishing in eighth place
36:41winner of the independent class James Kaye
36:44in the Synchro Motorsport Honda Civic Type R
36:46beating Carl Brees
36:47and winner of the production class Michael Bentwood
36:50well drama again right towards the end of the race there Tim
36:53but Ivan Muller had it all pretty easy
36:55well he did but he drove very well
36:58don't forget his car was carrying some 30 kilos of lead
37:01but I thought it was time for Ivan to win
37:03statistically I didn't think we could go four races without him winning
37:06and he drove a cool professional race
37:09we didn't see any of those signs of impatience or mistakes
37:12that perhaps we've seen in earlier rounds
37:14and he drove very very well
37:16the pit stop strategy was absolutely right
37:18and that's where Honda lost out
37:20and once again Honda really despite having a very fast car
37:24they've actually ended up with next to nothing
37:26but it was MG that took the challenge to Vauxhall this time
37:29but at the end of the day it's a Vauxhall 1-2-3
37:32yeah and for Ivan Muller that means that he moves to the lead in the championship
37:38not by very much though of course because Thompson finishing in second place
37:42gaining that second place right at the end means that the championship battle will still be very very close indeed
37:49and well there's nothing to choose between these two as we've come to expect throughout the season so far
37:55it's going to be about Ivan Muller and James Thompson by the looks of things
37:58stay with us we'll be back with all the news and the interviews after the break
38:02welcome back to Brandtach after a couple of fraught British touring car races here this afternoon
38:20in the end it's proved to be a very successful afternoon for VX racing for the Vauxhall Astra Coupe
38:27and particularly with the second race taking a 1-2-3 finish
38:31couldn't be better could it James Thompson finishing second to Ivan Muller
38:35Paul O'Neill in third place and then in the end the two MGs of Anthony Reid and Warren Hughes
38:41with Paul Colin Turkington who looks set for a good result failing to finish in the end
38:45great day for VX racing let's hear now from Ian Harrison who's with Vicky
38:49Ian fantastic day 1-2-3
38:52yeah doesn't get any better than that
38:54there's a little bit of an incident on the last few laps but yeah pretty pleased with that
38:58disappointment in the first race but made up for it
39:01what were your thoughts on James's move there with Turkington
39:04well we've seen it before really it was a very similar moves and it seems to be okay to do it
39:10I don't think it was a big a big issue really but unfortunately it looks like Colin may have had a
39:15a bit of a tank slapper on and he's come back into James and speared off unfortunately so that was a bit of a shame but yeah apart from that I thought it was okay
39:23what were your thoughts on the pit stops
39:25well VX racing we've got a bit of a handle on this at the moment we're not quite sure why or how but we seem to manage to do it
39:32I don't think we're better than the others in terms of being cleverer but sometimes it just seems to fall for us and today as well as Mondello Park we just ended up coming out in front
39:43lovely well well done
39:45thank you very much yeah thank you
39:46thank you
39:47thank you
39:48well good work from Triple Eight and I think understating it a little bit there because they do work hard on making sure that they work those pit stops effectively and their pit work has been absolutely superb
39:59and it just shows you that the other teams don't only have to build a car that's faster Tim they have to come up with some pretty good teamwork as well
40:06they do it's all about communication and strategy and VX racing just seem to be at the moment the ones that have got it right but Honda seem to need to work on their strategy
40:16MG pleased to at least have got a couple of cars to the finish quite competitively and showing good pace this weekend
40:21but once again it was VX racing dominating and Ivan Muller looking very classy
40:27so Ivan Muller the winner here at Brands Hatch in the second race and plenty of incident let's take a look back at what happened in that incident
40:37this was James Thompson versus Colin Turkington in the battle for second place
40:41things had already got a little bit close and a lot of defending and blocking
40:45and Thompson decides it's now or never takes a lunge and then backs out of it at the last minute and clips Turkington who does well to save it initially
40:54but then just as he's collecting it together tags Thompson which spears him off into the tyres and is very unfortunate
41:01I was as interested to hear Ian Harrison the team manager there sort of explaining that as being a racing incident
41:07when he was most vocal and vociferable about the first race incident with Matt Neill and his driver Paul O'Neill
41:14so it seems to me it's okay one way and not the other
41:16well a quick look through there David Leslie, Matt Neill, Alan Morrison, James Kaye and Karl Brees
41:23rounding out the top 10
41:25Karl Brees failing to finish in the independent class in the end or failing to win it this time
41:29he finished though which is good news because of course he didn't even get started in the first race
41:33but James Kaye can celebrate the 15 points for the win in the independent class
41:37so Ivan Muller the winner today let's hear from him
41:40Ivan happy boy
41:42yeah happy boy for sure because after the bad luck in Mandela Park I could win here which is quite special
41:49because I was 50 kilo during all weekend and to win with the Vauxhall with 50 kilo penalty is quite fantastic
41:57lovely well well done
41:58thank you
41:59championship will remain pretty close though this championship will only be separated by 3 or 4 points between James Thompson and Ivan Muller
42:06Muller will now have the advantage however what we have seen is some good reliability from those VX racing cars as well this year
42:13if there was an Achilles heel last year Tim for VX racing or Vauxhall motorsport as it was
42:18it was reliability particularly with the engines but I know they've worked hard on that over the winter
42:22yes you're absolutely right we said the car was very very quick on all types of different circuit which is very important for this championship
42:29as well as being able to carry the weight when you have the penalty
42:32but as you say their problem was the engine reliability and it was a random thing
42:37every any it could happen anytime but they seem to have got over it and their cars running very reliably now
42:42well James Thompson had to settle for second in the end let's go and hear from him
42:46James tell us about that little incident with Turkey team is it just a racing thing
42:50well I'm bound to say that aren't I you know it's a bit sorry to see him in the in the barriers we had a little a little nudge
42:57but he was he was consistently making mistakes down there lap after lap and I showed my nose down the inside
43:03and you know I think I was far enough along the inside that he should have possibly given me a little bit of room
43:08but we just had a bit of contact I thought he gathered up to be honest with you but then I heard a bang on the rear quarter of my car
43:14and then he must have just speared off at a different direction but it's always so he's not nice when people finish out the race
43:21but sometimes you've got to have a little bit of give and take is is a reasonably physical you know this sort of racing as we saw in the first race
43:29but it was very you know it's a good race up until that point
43:32well thanks James
43:33alrighty no problem
43:34well it's still a good good afternoon's work for James Thompson he'll be reasonably happy the first race perhaps
43:39wasn't one of his best finishing in fifth place but he's come through to take the second position here
43:44back on the podium once again it's a position he's well accustomed to in both last year and this
43:49and the production class presentation being made and once again the winner for the second time today is Michael Bentwood
43:55and that will give him a very useful little advantage in the championship particularly over Jim Edwards
44:01he came into this race meeting tied with Jim Edwards in the points
44:04but Jim Edwards finishing down in fourth place in class in this second race
44:09second place in class going to Luke Hines and Paul Wallace there finishing in third in the production class
44:15we saw him during the race busily trying to keep out of the way of the tourers
44:18well he survived that and he's come through to finish in third place
44:21but there's Michael Bentwood and I think he'll be absolutely delighted
44:24home track of course for the Edenbridge racing team as well
44:27and they could not have done much more than they've done here today
44:31but the team to take the win today Vauxhall VX Racing
44:36particularly this second race what a superb achievement
44:40all three cars on the podium all three drivers on the podium this afternoon
44:44with Ivan Muller to take the top spot
44:48and we're just going to see the drivers coming up onto the podium now
44:52I think Mike Nicholson first of Vauxhall will come up to receive the manufacturer's trophy
44:59a big smile for Mike he's delighted with that
45:03they know that this year is going to be a tough one
45:05MG and Honda have moved forward but with a performance like they've had today
45:09that's got to give them a real boost in confidence
45:13yes it's almost ominous isn't it that that big red steamroller just keeps on marching
45:18and you have to take your hat off them they're doing a very professional job
45:22they've managed to improve the car each year and that's not easy from a position already of strength
45:28they've done very very well and an excellent job all round
45:32James Kaye was used to getting onto the podium for the production class last year
45:35he was the production class champion
45:37he's now back in the tourist class and he's taken his first win of the season in the independence category
45:42but coming up to receive his trophy for third place Paul O'Neill his second podium finish of the day
45:50and he's obviously delighted about that
45:53Paul loves his racing we saw even after the first race and with immense disappointment
45:59he was still able to be happy cheerful he was on the podium
46:02it's a refreshing sight to see a driver with an attitude like that
46:05and don't forget Tim he was asked to let James Thompson through
46:09James Thompson was able to take advantage of that
46:11but if it hadn't been for that Paul may well have finished second
46:14yeah it could well have done I suppose
46:16but it didn't look in fairness as though he was ever going to challenge Colin Turkington that hard
46:20unless Colin made a big mistake
46:22so probably the right move by Vauxhall to do that
46:24well the winner this afternoon Ivan Muller
46:27and he is delighted about that
46:29got one over James Thompson on this occasion at least
46:32and he has taken the championship lead by a narrow margin
46:36but still he's in front
47:02but still he is still there
47:07and he's still there
47:09right for sure
47:10so we're going to be with OK
47:11and we have one over James Thompson
47:13and we can see it
47:15in the next time
47:16and we have now
47:17who's got his own
47:20to make his own
47:22and we have a photo of Camel
47:23so it's about it
47:24that's about it
47:25yet
47:26it's about it
47:27and then
47:28why
47:30Ivan Muller, ladies and gentlemen, takes the applause of Brands Hatch, and quite rightly so.
47:49Here we go, this is the moment you've been waiting for, champagne once again, ladies and gentlemen,
47:54the corks are about to fly, they will do very, very quickly.
47:57James gets Ivan, everybody gets each other, and Paul O'Neill's having a thoroughly lovely time.
48:03The production drivers as well, getting absolutely so...
48:06So, lots of champagne being poured, look at these two boys, Muller and Thompson.
48:12Complete magnum of champagne by the looks of things being poured down each other's necks.
48:17What a waste, what a shame.
48:18I was just watching there to see if there was any dirty tactics down below, or sort of below the belt blows,
48:24but it looked like they were fairly equal there, I think.
48:27Well, Muller looks really happy about that one, I think that's lifted his spirit.
48:32He was looking a bit glum earlier on in the season, perhaps.
48:35Mondelo didn't quite work out his way, he was a bit disappointed with the pit stops,
48:38how everything happened, but he's back on top now, and the whole team there,
48:43celebrating a tremendous 1-2-3 victory, and for the Frenchman, Ivan Muller,
48:49things could not be much better.
48:51Now, we're going to take another look at that incident, another incident to study and analyse.
48:55It's all been great fun.
48:57This is from a slightly different angle, Tim, so let's see how far James did get alongside before they turned in.
49:03Initially, it looked as though he was there, but then I think when he saw Colin turning in,
49:07he tried to back out of the manoeuvre and just clipped him, and there you see,
49:11just as Colin tries to collect it up, the car steers left initially and tags James' rear quarter,
49:18and then he's just a passenger.
49:19Yeah, not a lot he could do about that.
49:21He's still busy trying to sort out the moment, and unfortunately, it did put him off into the barrier,
49:26so no points at all after what really was a tremendous drive here in that second race,
49:32and he'll be going home very, very disappointed after what could have been a very useful haul of points.
49:39But that's racing, that's the way it goes,
49:41and I'm sure Turkington will be out to do his best next time when they race at Thruxton
49:47on the high-speed corners of the Hampshire circuit.
49:51And Ivan Muller is still washing some of the champagne out of his hair at the moment.
49:57Paul O'Neill with a very big grin, really enjoying himself at Brands Hatch this afternoon
50:02with two strong drives, two good finishes, and he couldn't have asked for a great deal more.
50:08So the driver's heading off on their parade lap.
50:14Michael Bentwood, the production-class winner there as well.
50:19Couldn't have been any better for him either.
50:20Two victories here in the two races this afternoon.
50:26Getting good reception from the crowd.
50:28There's a good crowd here at Brands Hatch now perhaps beginning to make their way home,
50:32but really relishing the battles that we saw throughout the two British touring car races
50:37showing that we're going to have a lot more of that kind of action this year.
