Maternity services at Liverpool's Specialist Women's Hospital have been upgraded after a visit from health officials.
00:07
Run by the NHS Foundation Trust, which bears the same name, Liverpool Women's Hospital is one of two Specialist Trusts in the UK
00:13
and the largest women's hospital in Europe.
00:16
It provides care for a significant number of people with high levels of complexity and clinical risk,
00:22
as well as serving a population with significant deprivation.
00:24
The Care Quality Commission inspected this service to March and May in part to follow up on whistleblowing concerns
00:32
relating to the culture and leadership at the service.
00:35
The concerns were not substantiated during the inspection.
00:38
It was also to follow up on breaches of regulation which were found at the previous inspection last January.
00:45
These were in relation to safe care and treatment, good management and staffing.
00:50
Following this inspection, the Trust is no longer in breach of these regulations.
00:53
The CQC has also upgraded the rating for how well-led the service is from requires improvement to good.
01:01
Safe has gone up from inadequate to good.
01:03
Responsive has declined from outstanding to good.
01:05
And effective and caring have been re-rated as good.
01:09
Liverpool Women's Hospital remains rated as good.
01:11
And the Trust overall rating remains unchanged and is rated as required improvement.
01:16
The reports said leaders and staff acted on earlier feedback, improving safety, leadership and staffing levels,
01:21
with women reporting they're now treated with compassion and kindness.
01:26
A recent survey backs that up.
01:28
94% of women said they were treated with respect and dignity.
01:33
Inspectors also found better systems for spotting and responding to deteriorating health,
01:39
with staff carrying out quicker observations to keep patients safe.
