00:00Hello and welcome back live to Nock Hill in sunny Scotland.
00:27Now the cars are on the grid, they're ready to race for race three.
00:32If you weren't with us earlier, this is what you missed.
00:36Race one, starting with Anthony Reid making a fantastic getaway from pole position.
00:40Tom Chilton not quite so fast from second, but nonetheless going with him.
00:44Colin Turkington and James Thompson slotted in behind, but Carl Brees and Rob Collard had a coming together.
00:49The poor old James Kay ended up being the victim of.
00:51James Thompson soon moved around the outside of Tom Chilton in a daring manoeuvre to take second place, but still a little way behind Anthony Reid.
01:00The marker poles went flying as Colin Turkington tried to get in on the act, but out of the race early went Rob Huff.
01:05He tried a Thompson that was not really quite on.
01:08Thompson and Turkington were then the next two to be involved in a dice.
01:10And after a bit of nudging and nerfing coming through and out of the hairpin, Turkington was through and it was a 1-2 for MG, although Turkington would be demoted later on for having passed under yellows.
01:21Meanwhile, further back, Jason Plato was busy working on getting 10th place out of race number one.
01:26He did that perfectly and therefore lined up on pole position for race two.
01:30A great getaway from Plato saw him move ahead of Matt Neal, Rob Collard and Sean Watson-Smith, but Thompson was out of luck on the first lap.
01:37He got tagged by Tom Chilton and the resulting bodywork and suspension damage meant he would not go much further.
01:43Also out of it was Carl Brees with a broken wishbone.
01:46Then Anthony Reid almost ended up causing the retirement of his own teammate, Turkington, as he nerfed up the inside of Tom Chilton.
01:53Chilton came back with a two-wheelback through Duffer's dip, but still battling with Rob Huff and Luke Hines.
01:59These three youngsters were putting on quite a show.
02:02Also putting on a great show, though, was Jason Plato, the former champion, leading quite easily, and the reigning champion was moving up.
02:07He got past Rob Collard's, though Ivan Muller went up into fourth.
02:11Anthony Reid and Rob Huff were side-by-side through the hairpin, but then it looked as though Reid missed a gear because Huff suddenly had the advantage.
02:18Chilton, meanwhile, had to retire.
02:20The damage to the front of his car was restricting the airflow, and it was Jason Plato who came through to take the second win of the day ahead of Matt Neal.
02:28And Dan Eves.
02:31Well, that was the situation earlier on, and we saw some great racing between Jason Plato and those two Hondas, and I think that they could be in extremely good shape for this third race of the afternoon.
02:43We're going to have to wait and see exactly.
02:44They will be carrying ballast, of course.
02:4642 kilos of ballast on that Seat, but at Croft last time out, I have to say that they did a pretty good job, and, Tim, I think that they could be, once again, very fast this third race.
02:56No question they're getting fast.
02:57The big thing is can Plato win off the front again with maximum ballast?
03:01This is the big test.
03:02It's uphill from that hairpin, very hard to do, but those charging through from the back with no ballast are going to make the race very exciting.
03:09So there's a lot to watch out for, and it's going to be a very, very exciting third race to the day, I'm sure.
03:15We can just see Jason Plato lining up in his pole position on the grid, ready for the start of this third race of the day.
03:22Matt Neill, who lines up second on the grid, he carries 30 kilos of ballast, and, in fact, we've got the two Competeach Racing with Halford's cars, second and third on the grid, carrying some ballast, but I suppose you might have to favor Dan Eves.
03:35He's not got quite as much ballast on board, having finished third in race two.
03:38He carries an extra 18 kilos, and then we've got Ivan Muller.
03:42He starts fourth on the grid, and one to really watch out for as well will be James Thompson to see whether he can do anything from pretty much at the back of the grid.
03:51There is one car behind him, that's Colin Turkington, and both of them will be very quick.
03:55Absolutely.
03:56I mean, it was proved in the first race by Rob Huff that you can get from the back, so it is possible, but James is going to be trying to pass people cleanly.
04:06Well, thousands of people at Knock Hill here all gathered to watch this third and final touring car race of the day.
04:11We can't wait.
04:12I hope you'll stay with us.
04:14We'll take a break and be back with all of the racing.
04:16You know, it helps to be posh around here, unless you own a string of polo ponies or maybe half of Yorkshire.
04:37And it's no bad thing to be posh here.
04:41Earl of Litchfield.
04:42Well, they don't like it if you start singing Who Eat All the Pies.
04:47But you don't have to be posh to be privileged.
04:51All you need is four years no claims, and privilege will guarantee to beat your renewal quote.

05:45For dove cleaning, Sif, who else?
05:50Shaving underarms can leave them red and uncomfortable.

05:59Ooh!

06:30Oi!
06:37A phone Norwich Union director caught me happy on my home insurance.
06:45Very competitive it was too. Switched immediately. Just as well.

07:11Now the DVLA don't need to look here for out of date tax discs. They don't even need to look here or here.
07:17If your car tax is out of date or if you haven't declared your car is off the road,
07:21there's only one place the DVLA now need to look. Here.
07:25And if you aren't up to date, the database will automatically issue an 80 pound penalty.

08:18Welcome back to us live here at Noc Hill.
08:20And I've got a local hero, John Cleland, here.
08:23John, you are twice a touring car champion with Vauxhall.
08:26Your heart must be going out at the moment to James Thompson who is not having a very good weekend.
08:30No, he's having a torrid time yesterday in qualifying.
08:32He was hit quite badly up the back by McNeil.
08:35His engine blew and it was slowing down.
08:38I saw the car last night and if it had been a normal road car, they'd have written it off.
08:41The team worked all night to put it together and they've done a good job on it.
08:44However, the rear beam is still not right and James is, I think, in for a really tough race.
08:50He's going to have to work very hard for it.
08:51Yeah, I think so too.
08:52Now then, rumour has it that you will be racing amongst other former touring car champions in September.
08:58Can you tell us what that's all about?
08:59Yes, it's a master's race.
09:01It's previous touring car champions from 1990 all the way up.
09:05Everyone we can possibly muster together and some notable worthies that never won the championship,
09:10but we're going to get them back in anyway.
09:12And it's being held.
09:13We're all driving the same car.
09:14We're all driving Seats.
09:15It's at Donington at the end of the year.
09:17And it's just going to be the most fantastic spectacle to have probably a dozen or 13 ex-champions driving,
09:26some ex-Formula 1 people.
09:28It's just going to be an enormous spectacle.
09:31You've got to be there.
09:32Now, there are going to be some clash of egos, I think.
09:34Who's going to have the biggest one?
09:36Oh, probably Tim Harvey's got the biggest ego of anyone I know.
09:39Fine.
09:40Enough said.
09:40Well, you can see that on ITV1 in September.
09:44And now over to Ben for the start of Race 3 Live.
09:48Thanks very much, Vicky.
09:49Yes, sir.
09:50We'll be looking forward to that race.
09:51Any quick ripostes for us there, Tim?
09:53Well, 2-0 today in the Porsche racing.
09:56And John's got some...
09:57It's obviously a bit rusty.
09:59OK, let's look at the line-up for this race then.
10:01Jason Plato starting from pole.
10:03He's got Matt Neill alongside him on the front row.
10:05The second row, Dan Eves.
10:06And the reigning champion, Ivan Muller, in the Vauxhall Astra.
10:09We've got another Vauxhall up next.
10:10It's Luke Hines.
10:11He's got Rob Huff in the Seat alongside him.
10:13Then it's Race 1 winner here today, Anthony Reid.
10:16And Sean Watson-Smith, they had a big dice earlier on.
10:18James Kaye and Jason Hughes are next.
10:21And then we've got Rob Collard, who was out of luck with a fuel sensor in that second race.
10:25Farik Harriman's next door to him.
10:26John George in the LPG-powered Peugeot is next up with Richard Marsh in the Honda.
10:30And then towards the back, some quick people to watch for.
10:33Tom Chilton and James Thompson, both out of luck in Race 2.
10:36And on the final row, Colin Turkington.
10:38I don't think we're going to see Carl Brees.
10:40He had a broken wishbone in Race 2.
10:42I don't think they've been able to get the car back out onto the circuit.
10:45So he's missing from the back.
10:46But three very, very quick drivers.
10:49Tom Chilton, James Thompson and Colin Turkington, Tim, all starting from the back.
10:54Absolutely.
10:54They are, you know, very, very quick.
10:56We saw Thompson up into second place in the first race.
10:59Turkington finished second on the road.
11:01Chilton was third.
11:02These are three of the fastest guys here this weekend.
11:05And if they don't race each other too hard, they should be able to come through the grid.
11:09But it's a tough place on which to overtake.
11:11So they're going to have to be pushing their way through fairly aggressively, I would think.
11:15It's another 22-lap race.
11:17Jason Plato, winner of two races at Croft last time out by doing what he has done here.
11:23That was to drop back to 10th place in the first race.
11:26Ensure a great starting position for Race 2.
11:28He's won that one.
11:29And he's now on pole for Race 3.
11:31But he's carrying ballast, remember.
11:33That could change things as we get all ready for Round 21 of the Green Flag MSA British Touring Car Championship.
11:39To get on the way here in Scotland, away we go.
11:41Good start again from Jason Plato.
11:44Going with him is McNeil and Dan Eves.
11:47And everybody, I think, is away cleanly from that standing start.
11:50Down towards Duffersdip.
11:51Plato holds the middle of the road.
11:53McNeil follows it through.
11:54Anthony Reid there with Rob Huff side by side behind them.
11:57And they're coming still side by side into McIntyre's.
12:00Anthony Reid on the inside.
12:01Rob Huff going around the outside of him.
12:03Great battle between those two.
12:04And it's still continuing as they come up to the chicane.
12:07But Plato's making a break.
12:08Huff over the grass.
12:09So is Reid.
12:10And those two, it always looked like something was going to happen.
12:13And Dan Eves now making a move to try and get past his teammate.
12:16He's done it.
12:17He's into second place.
12:18And Plato is getting away.
12:20Plato's got the art of starting this.
12:22Say absolutely nailed it.
12:23He's made a brilliant start every time he's been on the front row.
12:26Luke Hines on the third row backed everybody up with another poor start.
12:30He made one at Mondello.
12:31But Eves looks to be on a mission and so is Huff.
12:34Yeah, here comes Rob Huff.
12:35But he's squeezed out there by Ivan Muller.
12:37Muller just eases him out to the very edge of the track.
12:40And Huff has to tuck in behind him once more.
12:42Then it's Anthony Reid at the MG.
12:44Behind him is Sean Watson-Smith.
12:46Then it's Luke Hyatt.
12:47And this is a good battle.
12:48James Thompson trying to get past James Kaye.
12:50And Thompson's up to tenth already.
12:52That's a fantastic first lap from Thompson.
12:55Absolutely brilliant.
12:55He took advantage of all the ongoing action in front of him.
12:59He's come up higher than Chilton from the back of the grid.
13:03A great start.
13:04And Turketon down in 15th place.
13:06So the leader's coming through out of the chicane already.
13:09Rob Huff once again trying to get past Ivan Muller.
13:13They've got Matt Neill just holding them up a little bit.
13:15The ballast on that Honda is hurting in the background.
13:17You could just see Luke Hines getting on the grass.
13:19But here Ivan Muller lost a bit of momentum.
13:21And he's now under pressure from Rob Huff.
13:23Rob Huff's got a slightly quicker straight line speed advantage.
13:26But Muller locks up side by side into the hairpin.
13:29And Muller's going to squeeze out again.
13:31And I don't think Rob Huff has got past him there.
13:33No.
13:34But he might have a chance at the next corner.
13:36Because he's on the inside line now.
13:38And the next corner's a right-hander.
13:40And look at that.
13:40He just pulls away.
13:42Pulls past him.
13:43As they come up over the hill.
13:44Down into Duffers.
13:45And Huff's through.
13:46Great driving by Huff.
13:47He cut back to the inside while we were on board with Ivan Muller.
13:50Who's fighting back at the McIntyre's.
13:53Side by side.
13:55Muller's put him out wide.
13:56He's going to have the advantage.
13:57Down through the Diff and up to the chicane.
14:00Great racing between these drivers.
14:02Rob Huff's still in his first year of touring car racing, of course.
14:05Coming up against the reigning champion Ivan Muller.
14:08And giving as good as he gets.
14:10But so far so good.
14:11It's pretty clean.
14:12There's Thompson squeezed on the grass this time.
14:14But look.
14:15He's got past Luke Hines.
14:16And that's put him up another one.
14:18Into eighth place.
14:19Luke Hines won't give it to him though.
14:20He might be his teammate.
14:21But he won't make it that easy.
14:23And in fact Hines is coming back down the inside.
14:24Reid's coming up as well.
14:27Anthony Reid dives past the Seat.
14:29Hines got past Thompson in the background.
14:31Don't know where to look next.
14:32It's action of plenty in this year's British Touring Car Championship.
14:36This is the final race of the day.
14:38The cars at the front are the heaviest.
14:40The cars behind the light is.
14:41They're trying to find their way through.
14:43Reid's on a mission.
14:44He's still a championship contender.
14:46He won the first race.
14:48He wants a top four of even a podium this weekend.
14:51Yeah.
14:51He's had a very consistent season.
14:53He's only had the one win.
14:54That was Croft last time.
14:55You're looking from that MG.
14:57Look at Ivan Müller.
14:58Oh, he was so quick up there through the chicane.
15:00In fourth at the moment.
15:01Kollar's off in the gravel.
15:03He might get restarted though.
15:05As Müller defends.
15:06And over the kerb on the exit there.
15:08Thompson using even more grass in the background.
15:11Trying to get past his younger teammate.
15:13Luke Hines there's a stationary yellow up there.
15:15Not sure how far down the track that comes.
15:17But of course you're not allowed to overtake where there's a yellow.
15:21And it's this area.
15:22So now they'll be able to overtake again as they exit the hair pit.
15:25And Kollar, yeah.
15:26He was in the gravel but he's coming into the pit.
15:28Dan Eaves has been very quick in that orange Computeach with Halpert's Honda all weekend.
15:34Back in 2002.
15:36And he does have this circuit absolutely nailed.
15:38By contrast his teammate Matt Neill is going backwards.
15:41Yeah, Müller's past him and now Reid's coming past him.
15:43And Rob Huff.
15:44Everybody's barging Matt Neill out of the way.
15:46Very rudely removed from what was initially third.
15:49Now he's way down the order.
15:51Dropping back corner by corner.
15:53Looking back from Anthony Reid's MG.
15:55Looking over the boot lid.
15:56Through the rear wing.
15:57And back at the Seat of Rob Huff.
15:59But it's his teammate, Huff's teammate Jason Blater who leads again by 1.1 seconds at the moment over Dan Eaves.
16:06But Dan Eaves is going quickly.
16:09He might be able to close up that gap.
16:11Out again goes Rob Kollar but he's having a tough time.
16:14And we're riding on board with James Thompson.
16:16As Luke Hines has a go at getting past Watson Smith.
16:19Oh, this is good stuff.
16:21Trying to come back on the inside.
16:23And Thompson may get two places here if he's got the run up the inside.
16:27He's certainly going to get one place.
16:28He's going to get the past the Proton as well.
16:31Although the Proton's very fast on the straight.
16:33And look at Chilton up behind.
16:34Chilton has well started at the back.
16:37Oh, he likes to two wheel through that corner.
16:39It's a dangerous tactic.
16:41Will he have the inside for McIntyre?
16:42He's not quite, doesn't quite get past the Proton.
16:46But James Thompson, as you say, is past the Proton.
16:49So he's now in eighth place.
16:50And Thompson's so fired up here.
16:52He's lost a chance at the championship here at Notkill in previous years.
16:56He does not want to lose the chance again here today.
16:59He's already been out of luck.
17:00He didn't finish race two.
17:02And Thompson's so determined to try and catch back up to Yvonne Muller in this race.
17:07And stop Muller getting away in the championship.
17:09The gap seven points coming into this race.
17:11Look behind there.
17:12You can see Matt Neil in the orange car.
17:14Then the two, the ex-racing cars.
17:15Here's Tom Chilton again in the black Honda.
17:18Putting the pressure on Sean Watson-Smith.
17:20Very nice.
17:21A lot of pressure in the middle order here.
17:23Thompson racing for all he's worth.
17:24It may only be a seven-point gap up to Yvonne Muller.
17:28But he is racing as though this is the championship decided.
17:31Really going hard.
17:32Now, Luke Hines has got the task of trying to get past Matt Neil.
17:36Matt Neil, one of the most experienced touring car campaigners there is.
17:40He's in the orange Honda.
17:42The competition is racing with Halfords car up the hill.
17:44We're with Thompson, who's at the back of that same group.
17:47And Thompson may be able to take advantage of this here
17:49because they're fending each other off a little bit.
17:52Matt Neil has to take a tight line in.
17:53Thompson takes the ideal wide line in.
17:56Can he find some space?
17:58Oh, he would love it if his teammate would help him.
18:00Here comes Thompson on the inside of his teammate to Hines
18:03to try and repay the favour.
18:05He was passed on the inside.
18:06He's going to have it.
18:07Don't hit Matt Neil as he turns in.
18:09Matt is very slow through the chicane further back.
18:11He hasn't been watching our ITV coverage
18:13to see the quick line through there.
18:15No, he's not cutting the road.
18:17He's cutting the corner quite as much as some of them are.
18:19But as you say, Thompson's now got past Hines.
18:22Here we are riding on board with James Thompson,
18:24heading down towards Dufferstip.
18:26But Matt Neil is just that little bit too far ahead of him.
18:29And Neil hops over the kerb.
18:30Not quite as much two-wheel action, as we saw from Chilton.
18:34But still very close.
18:35Bit wide there from Matt Neil.
18:36Yes, this is the section where the others are a lot quicker.
18:38Watch the line through, hopefully, the head-on camera.
18:41Matt Neil takes it quite tidy.
18:43The others cut more of the chicane off
18:45and carry more speed out of the corner,
18:47which leads down to the next one.
18:48And therefore an overtaking.
18:50Classic overtake by Thompson, exactly as we called it.
18:53Side by side, though, still, Tim, as they come out of the corner.
18:56Great clean racing between Matt Neil and James Thompson.
18:59Two stars.
19:00And look at Reid.
19:01Reid's got on the inside of Ivan Muller.
19:03And he's taken third place.
19:04Well, that's a really dynamic move from Anthony Reid.
19:07It was clean too.
19:08And he's moved into third.
19:10Muller is back down to fourth position.
19:12And Rob Huff's right there with them too.
19:14So for Anthony Reid, race one winner.
19:16He's on.
19:16Oh, Thompson's been hit.
19:18Thompson's been hit by somebody.
19:19There's smoke pouring from his car.
19:21How much damage is done?
19:22He can't believe this.
19:23Every time he goes out, he's been hit by somebody.
19:26Oh, and surely he's in trouble here.
19:28The problem with the back of that car,
19:30that is the car that he damaged in practice.
19:32The whole of the back of that car was smashed in.
19:34It's really only made of pieced together tape
19:38and a little bit of metal welded into the back.
19:40It's certainly not as strong as a standard car.
19:42So any accident, any damage like that
19:44is going to cause a multiple effect of crushing.
19:46And it's pushed the bodywork onto the tire.
19:49But he looks to have got away with it.
19:50Yeah, I'm not sure.
19:51That right rear looks as though
19:52it might have been knocked slightly askew.
19:54It's hard to say.
19:55Let's wait and see.
19:56He might be able to hold onto it
19:57with just a little bit of bodywork damage
19:59and nothing else.
20:00Down towards the hairpin.
20:02They come now then.
20:03And Luke Coyne's trying to defend
20:04from Colin Turkington now.
20:06The other man that started at the back
20:08beginning to make his presence felt here.
20:10He's into the top ten
20:12and he'd like to move up a little further if possible.
20:15Thompson's still going quickly.
20:16So hopefully that damage really isn't making too much difference.
20:19He looks to be lapping at competitive speeds.
20:21He's got to the front of that little group
20:23but it's sixth place
20:24and there's five seconds further up the road is Huff.
20:27So big gap to the next group.
20:29You saw the leaders come through.
20:30They're close now as well.
20:31Plato's under pressure from Dan Eves.
20:33Meanwhile, just looking back,
20:35this was, we think,
20:36when Thompson maybe got tagged.
20:38Well, there was just a bit of barging going on there.
20:41Hard to tell exactly what happened.
20:42Luke Hines in this box all with his bumper.
20:45Look at it.
20:46Trailing there.
20:47And Turkington's going to take that bumper off in a minute.
20:50There's the battle for the lead, though.
20:51And look how Jason Plato has now got the orange Honda of Dan Eves behind him.
20:55They've just lapped Rob Collard.
20:57He's not in the battle, but these two most certainly are.
20:59And Eves is really charged up here.
21:02He had his first BTCC victory this year at Orton Park.
21:05He's looking for his second.
21:07Plato, though, has led more laps than anyone this year.
21:10He's absolutely a master of driving under pressure.
21:12He's a champion and he can withstand the pressure.
21:15So Matt's going to have to put off something very special to get past.
21:19Further back, Turkington's got past Hines.
21:22Yeah, Turkington has taken seventh place from Luke Hines.
21:25Eighth now for Hines.
21:26And then Matt Neill dropping away.
21:29But this is the battle for the lead.
21:30Plato flicking his wipers on.
21:32I wonder why that happened as he went through the right-hander there.
21:36Doesn't slow him down any, of course.
21:38And it's Plato Eves.
21:39And look how Anthony Reid has caught them.
21:41He's got the fastest lap, Anthony Reid.
21:43He's now making it a three-way race for the lead and for the win.
21:47And the final race of the day here at Notkill.
21:50Further back, Tom Chilton's there in the mix.
21:52Fourth place at the moment, though, is still Ivan Muller from Rob Haft.
21:56Not even halfway through this race and there's a lot more can play out.
21:59Will Danies continue to attack Jason Plato?
22:02Will he be forced to defend from Anthony Reid and give Plato a bit of a gap?
22:06Reid needs to try and get past quick or he needs to make a decisive move.
22:10Jason Plato is having to drive defensively now.
22:14And what he's trying to do is to put that second car in the group,
22:17in the middle of the sandwich there.
22:19He's trying to almost allow Reid to close up, isn't he?
22:22Very much so.
22:23He's trying to back Danies up on the road.
22:26Danies, oh, this is the brain.
22:27It's going to touch.
22:28This might work.
22:29This might work.
22:30That was a good, clean move.
22:32He got clearly up the inside.
22:33There was a little bit of contact.
22:34But it was absolutely side to side.
22:37So Danies takes the lead from Jason Plato.
22:39And Anthony Reid now coming up into second place.
22:41But Plato's trying to come down the inside to stay in second.
22:45And remarkably, Danies has closed on court and passed Jason Plato.
22:50And he's moved ahead of the Seat.
22:52And now it's Danies doing likewise with his car pulling away here from Jason Plato and Anthony Reid.
23:07Yes, this battle as Reid slips up the inside of Plato.
23:10Plato's now starting to suffer with halfway through the race with the extra weight taking its toll on the tyres.
23:15And look what's happened.
23:17Ivan Muller and Rob Hart, who were running further back in fourth and fifth, have now caught up to make this a four-way scrap for second place.
23:24Oh, and Reid's got the inside into Clark Court curve this time.
23:28And it's got to be Plato who's got to be careful because now Muller might get him as well.
23:32Muller trying to go alongside.
23:33These two have real history between them.
23:35They used to be teammates.
23:36They fell out big time a couple of years ago.
23:39They've had a couple of dices this year at Mondello in particular where it went wrong.
23:42But it's clean at the moment.
23:44Muller has got past Jason Plato.
23:46And now Plato only has his teammate, Rob Huff, right behind.
23:49And you can see the difference that the ballast is making to this man, Jason Plato.
23:54He can't be as quick as earlier on because he's carrying more weight in the car.
23:58This is the way the rules are set this year.
24:00This is the way to penalise the winners.
24:02It makes for some fantastic racing.
24:04As you say, Jason Plato is able to win the second race fairly comfortably.
24:09He just can't keep the pace up with a success ballast added.
24:12And he's now got his teammate, Rob Huff, who's at the moment been fairly gentle with him at the back.
24:17But will Rob Huff suck that?
24:19Oh, Muller's had some contact.
24:20Yeah, he's got the tyre rubbing on bodywork like Thompson had earlier on.
24:24Thompson's still running in sixth place at the moment.
24:26You just saw him in the background there.
24:28But Muller now with a bit of damage to the bodywork.
24:30Now Plato will try and line him up for another pass.
24:33Down into the hairpin, Taylor's hairpin.
24:35Oh, here we go.
24:36Is he going to give him a nudge?
24:37He does.
24:38He gives him a little tap into the corner.
24:40He goes one side.
24:41Huff tries to go the other.
24:42And Muller is sandwiched in between.
24:44And Plato's back through.
24:46Muller will not like that.
24:47It's his arch enemy.
24:48Plato just easing him wide on the brakes there.
24:51Now he's got the other Seat attacking him on the other side.
24:54They are quick up the straight even with the balance.
24:56Will Muller brave it out on the inside?
24:58They're going to be side by side.
24:59Now Clark just holds it.
25:01Muller will be absolutely fuming.
25:03That bumper's finally come off.
25:04So he hasn't got that to worry about.
25:06The only danger in this race is failing the weight check at the end of it, I think.
25:10Yeah, there's not much left on that car, but it's still going fast.
25:13He stays ahead of Rob.
25:14Huff goes very wide indeed.
25:17Oh, he was lucky to get back on the track there.
25:19And Muller is given a little moment's respite because that cost Rob Huff's about a less than half a second.
25:25But look at James Thompson's catching this group.
25:27Thompson's going quickly at the moment.
25:29Some quick laps of 55.8 last time around.
25:31Quicker than the rest of this lead pack.
25:33Although it's still Anthony Reid who set the fastest lap early on.
25:36And look at Reid.
25:37Don't forget Reid here.
25:38He's still in second and catching Dan Eves a little bit as we look at this great race for third position.
25:44Plato, Ivan Muller, the two great rivals of recent years in touring cars.
25:49The two who battled over the 2001 championship.
25:51And Plato nudged him.
25:52And Muller says, I'm going to get my revenge here.
25:54I'm going to give you a nudge.
25:56And oh, it's so close.
25:58It's about 80, 90 miles an hour through there.
26:00They're nudging each other.
26:02Muller now trying to get up the inside.
26:03Oh, they're pushing each other.
26:05Muller goes off.
26:06Muller's on the grass.
26:07And Plato's got through safely.
26:09And it's Thompson's got between them now.
26:12North Hill always produces fantastic racing.
26:15That is the exact place that Thompson, his teammate, went off in the first race.
26:19Now Muller's had the same medicine dished out to him.
26:22This championship just flat to edge one way or the other.
26:24As we see Chilton in the gravel.
26:26Surely there's going to be a safety car with damaged rear suspension.
26:29Yeah, very bent.
26:30Right rear wheel on that one.
26:32Thompson now under pressure from Rob Hart.
26:34But for Thompson, this is major, major news.
26:36And up front, I think Reid's got in front of Eves.
26:39I think there might have been a change for the lead.
26:41There has.
26:42Anthony Reid has got a head.
26:43Oh, Dan Eves, just as they went over the line ahead of us.
26:45There he is.
26:46The MG's got in front of Eves.
26:48And Reid, who won race one earlier on today, has got a head once again.
26:53Fantastic drive by Reid.
26:54He's driving better than ever this year.
26:56Accidents and contact aside, I've never seen him more fired up.
27:00And he's got the car underneath him now.
27:02If only he'd had this at the start of the year.
27:04It's absolutely flying.
27:06Well, the championship's not over from Anthony Reid's point of view.
27:09He might be some 35 to 40 points behind.
27:12But, you know, if he can keep up this sort of performance,
27:15if the team, WSR, can keep up this performance,
27:18they've really been the fastest at Croft.
27:20They've been the fastest here at Knock Hill.
27:22They were pretty much thereabouts at Mondello.
27:24And if they can carry this on, well, who knows?
27:26Maybe Reid can still challenge for the title.
27:29Dan Eves, I thought, had made the break,
27:31but Reid just gradually reeled him in.
27:33He's gone ahead.
27:3417 laps completed.
27:36Still five to go.
27:37And behind them, that group are still fighting over third place.
27:41Hammer and Tom, Jason Plato and James Thompson,
27:45all of them still in the mix there.
27:47No sign of a safety car.
27:48So the marshals have obviously done a good job there.
27:50The race will continue.
27:52Reid is going to take maximum points,
27:54assuming he finishes here from the weekend.
27:56That is always the target.
27:58He raced well in the first race.
28:00Obviously, he took victory.
28:01Didn't compromise anything to try and play a tactical game like Seat have done.
28:05And now he's come through in race three,
28:07and he looks like winning again.
28:08That will be a fantastic achievement.
28:10Now, James Thompson's in the middle of this group.
28:12He should be aware that his great rival, Ivan Moller, is still running.
28:16He's down in ninth place.
28:18Huge opportunity for Thompson to close up the seven points that he dropped earlier on today.
28:22But he's got to survive that,
28:24and he's got some very racy people around him.
28:26Turkington and Huff right beside each other coming through the hairpin once more.
28:31The two youngsters have impressed so many people,
28:34not only this year, but last year as well.
28:35Turkington in particular.
28:37And still they're racing hard behind James Thompson.
28:39Leaders come through.
28:40Who's going to go for it?
28:41Into Duffer's dip.
28:42It's Plato holding on to the final podium position.
28:45Thompson follows him down the hill,
28:47through the dip, through the compression there.
28:49And it's still Rob Huff at the back of the group, locking a brake.
28:53Turkington and Huff are the two young chargers.
28:56All the top teams are looking at them.
28:58They really have great futures in front of them.
29:00I think we're going to see them in British touring cars for many years to come.
29:03And here comes Huff.
29:04He was so quick through the chicane.
29:06He has been all weekend.
29:07Thompson's having to defend.
29:08Turkington blocks as well, but they've got to run through Clark.
29:13It's just fantastic racing, Tim.
29:16This is exactly what we want to see from touring cars.
29:18It's brilliant.
29:19You don't know where the next move's going to come.
29:21And Turkington now had a think about getting past Thompson.
29:25Thompson, perfect.
29:26Oh, position there.
29:27But he's gone alongside Plato.
29:28Plato made a little mistake there in the hairpin.
29:30And suddenly James Thompson's got a chance.
29:32But Turkington's going to try and make it three abreast as they come up over the hill.
29:36Back marker in the way.
29:37Oh, they squeeze past it somehow.
29:39And Turkington's going to come back again into Duffer's dip.
29:42Thompson's into third.
29:43And Turkington's going to try and get past the Seat to move into fourth bit of contact.
29:48He's through.
29:48That was great.
29:49I think Plato must have just locked up a little bit of the hairpin and run a fraction wide.
29:54And that game, that was all the chance that Thompson and then Turkington needed to go.
29:58You can't get back into line.
29:59If you lose one place, there's someone else there just to dive up the inside and take that place away from you.
30:04Battle of the teammates there.
30:06Meanwhile, Fariq Harriman has had an incident somewhere because there's bits coming off the car.
30:11He's not quite sure what happened.
30:13I think he's thrown wide at Clark and done a repeat of what he did in the second race.
30:17Taking the splitter off.
30:18No surprise that.
30:19But I think Rob Huff is sitting dutifully behind Plato at the moment.
30:24He could have passed as well, but he hasn't tried to.
30:27So he's obviously trying to get maximum points for his teammate.
30:29Struggling up that hill, I reckon, is Jason Plato with the weight on board.
30:34There's second place man, Dan Eaves.
30:36And this has been a great run from Dan Eaves.
30:38But at the end of the day, the MG just seems to have the edge around this knock hill circuit.
30:43And it's Scotsman, there he is, Anthony Reid from Ayrshire, the 47-year-old, the veteran of the British Touring Car Championship,
30:51who is really coming on strong in this second part of the season.
30:54Thompson through, Turkington, these two in third and fourth positions now.
30:59We're on board Ivan Muller.
31:01He's still going.
31:02He's in ninth behind Matt Neill.
31:05That's the back mark of Richard Marsh just moving well out of the way, doing a fine job of getting out of the way of these guys.
31:09Muller desperate to reclaim some points.
31:11It's been a complete reversal of race two.
31:14And it's Thompson who's going to gain on this one, as opposed to Ivan Muller.
31:18James Thompson's third place is by no means assured.
31:22Here comes Turkington.
31:23He's got a long side.
31:24This is the perfect run up the hill and into the first corner.
31:27Turkington's going to get that final place.
31:29If he can get past here, will Thompson brave it around the outside?
31:32We've seen him do it.
31:33No, he's too far back.
31:35The power of that newly developed four-cylinder, job-developed MG engine,
31:39who was able to carry Turkington up the hill and move him past James Thompson.
31:45And Turkington now into third place.
31:47So MG's looking to finish first and third here in the third race of the day.
31:52Don't forget.
31:52Oh, and Plato very wide.
31:53He's on the grass.
31:54Oh, and his teammate goes past him.
31:56Plato had no choice there, really, but to let his teammate through.
32:00And he's almost let Luke Hines past.
32:02And Hines will still get a run on him down towards the hairpin.
32:05It's the last corner of the last lap.
32:08And Anthony Reid is going to make it two out of three here at Groff today.
32:12The win in race one.
32:14The win in race three.
32:15And that was a brilliant race from the veteran.
32:18Second goes to Dan Eves.
32:20Third place goes to Colin Turkington.
32:24Thompson comes in in fourth place.
32:25Not killed, of course, I meant to say.
32:27Across the line.
32:28Side by side there.
32:29Rob Huff and Luke Hines and Jason Plato.
32:32It was Hines and Plato absolutely together.
32:34And Hines finished in sixth place with Jason Plato in seventh.
32:38So Plato, the race leader for so long, but dropped right back and finished in seventh in the end as Anthony Reid comes good here at Knock Hill.
32:49After making his way through the grid, he started in seventh position on the grid, fought his way through one by one by one.
32:57And WSR have done it.
32:59They've taken two wins here today.
33:01And their championship campaign is very much back on track.
33:05James Thompson will be delighted to have picked up fourth place and gained some very useful points over his teammate, Ivan Muller.
33:14But boy, oh boy, that was just classic touring car racing from start to finish.
33:19Stay with us and we'll hear from the top finishers after the break.

37:08The Breakdown Specialists.
37:24Welcome back to Knock Hill.
37:26We're still a little bit breathless after that last race of victory for Anthony Reid, the so-called bad boy of touring cars.
37:32But he kept it clean in that one.
37:34And he came through to take the victory ahead of Dan Eaves and Colin Turkington.
37:38James Thompson finished fourth, an important result for him, with his big championship rival Ivan Muller finishing down in ninth place.
37:45Rob Huff was fifth in the end with Luke Hines in sixth place.
37:48Further down the order, well, out of luck I'm afraid a few people today, including Tom Chilton in that third race.
37:54He was so fast all weekend, but unfortunately he never really, except for the second place in the first race, got the other results to back that up.
38:01But he'll be back another day, I'm sure.
38:03So, it's been an exciting time, and Vicky is with that race winner of two races today, Anthony Reid.
38:09Anthony, what an absolutely cracking race.
38:11It was so eventful.
38:12What was your favourite part?
38:14Winning that third race, I mean, fantastic.
38:17I mean, I can't describe the feeling I have at the moment.
38:19I mean, so delighted for the team and MG, you know, because it's a privately run car, but it's so quick at the moment.
38:26What was your favourite move?
38:27Because, I mean, there's so much going on in that race.
38:29Yeah, I love overtaking Ivan Muller.
38:32Why?
38:34I don't need to explain that one, do I?
38:36I don't know.
38:37So, is it passing him, you think?
38:38Yeah, probably passing Ivan.
38:40He didn't quite expect it, and I dived from very late.
38:42But he's a professional driver.
38:44By the time he saw me coming, he couldn't lane change and block me.
38:47He knew I was coming through.
38:48So, he gave me the space, and I've got to thank him for that.
38:50Wonderful.
38:51Well, well done, you.
38:52Well done.
38:52And in second place, Danny.
38:54Steve, Dan, lovely to see you here again today.
38:57Yeah, you can't beat that feeling, getting here twice.
38:58Just need to do it three times, no?
39:00Now, what happened at the end there?
39:01Because really, just on slip-by.
39:03Yeah, he's a slippery old dog, isn't he?
39:06He was running with little or no weight.
39:08I was running with third place weight.
39:10The Honda was great.
39:12The team have done a superb job all weekend.
39:14I've been driving pretty well.
39:17And just, you know, absolutely, you know, drove my socks off.
39:21So, it was good.
39:22I thought I had the race in the bag when I got past Plato.
39:25He started to struggle.
39:26But then I could see Reedy looming large.
39:28And then he did the same to me that he did on the van, I think, and slipped past at the
39:31hair pit at the last minute.
39:33So, I was slightly disappointed with that.
39:35But second place is good.
39:36It's points.
39:37And you know what that makes.
39:39Prizes.
39:39And you get a trophy.
39:40Well, thank you very much.
39:42Now, third place, Colin Turkington.
39:44Brilliant.
39:45Yeah, it was an awesome race for me.
39:48The chips were down at the start, starting in 17th.
39:51But the car all weekend has been absolutely mega.
39:54It's been really quick.
39:55And I've had really good front grip allowing me to pass people.
39:59So, it was just a matter of taking my time in that race and trying to judge the passes
40:03right without making too much contact and damaging the car.
40:06So, I'm thrilled to get up to third and some more points.
40:09I was really disappointed after the second race.
40:12But that's made up for it.
40:13No, it's an absolutely sterling drive.
40:15So, well done you.
40:16Now then, I have fourth place man, James Thompson.
40:19James, you have been battered about something chronic.
40:23Yeah, it's a bit like a demolition derby this weekend.
40:25What with qualifying and the second race.
40:28But, yeah, it's a real rollercoaster of emotion, I have to say.
40:30You know, I snatched the lead of the championship after the first race.
40:33It went, you know, really well for us.
40:34Second race, real low.
40:36And, like I say, the car's in a hell of a state anyway.
40:39I mean, I don't think we'll be using this chassis again.
40:40It's so badly damaged.
40:42And then, the damage after the second race, we knew there was some bits and pieces on that
40:46that we couldn't straighten out.
40:47So, the guys have done a fantastic job to get the car, you know, in the state it was in.
40:51And thoroughly enjoyed the race.
40:54Cole just picked me at the end, but that's all fair and square.
40:56We're a cracking race.
40:57And pleased that we limited the damage somewhat.
40:59Because otherwise, it could have been disastrous.
41:01Yeah, lovely.
41:02Thank you very much.
41:03And here's Ben with the rest of the results.
41:05Thank you very much, Vicky.
41:06Well, in terms of the championship, you know, it makes things very, very tight indeed.
41:11James Thompson is back to one point behind Ivan Muller.
41:14But look at how Anthony Reid has closed up that gap.
41:17He's now just 23 points off the lead.
41:19Jason Plato's in there too.
41:21Matt Neils had a bit of an up and down weekend.
41:23Colin Turkington, though, has had a very strong weekend at Knock Hill.
41:26He's in sixth place with Danny's seventh ahead of Rob Huff.
41:29Tom Chilton, I think he would have hoped for a little bit more here this weekend after the pace he showed in qualifying.
41:35But that's the way it goes sometimes.
41:37And just looking, a quick look at the team's championship.
41:40VX Racing very much still on top of that table ahead of WSR.
41:44Tim, what was going on there with Ivan Muller?
41:49Not Vauxhall's day.
41:50Well, the championship fortunes fluctuated wildly this weekend with Thompson having a crash in practice and then an off in the second race.
41:58Muller being pushed off not once but twice in that third race.
42:02The points gap just fluctuates.
42:03But racing's rubbing.
42:04That's what happens.
42:05And it was bound to happen here at Knock Hill.
42:07It was an absolute cracking race, wasn't it?
42:08Absolutely full of stuff.
42:10I was glad I wasn't in it.
42:11It was so good to watch.
42:13It was one of the best ever touring car races.
42:15I would put that in my top five.
42:17Oh, lovely.
42:17Wonderful.
42:18Right, well, that's all we've got time for here at Knock Hill.
42:21We hope you've enjoyed the racing.
42:23Join us again in two weeks' time where we are live once again from Brands Hatch in Kent.
42:29Now then, that's it from here.
42:32Smiles from Seat.
42:33Disappointment from Vauxhall.
42:34Bye-bye.
42:48See you next time.
43:05Bye-bye.
43:07Bye-bye.
43:09Bye-bye.
43:09Bye-bye.
43:13Bye-bye.
43:14Bye-bye.
