We went out into Manchester to ask people on the street about the increase in rat infestations that have occurred across the UK over the last year.

00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. My name is Theo Houston-Beds and today I'm out on the streets of Manchester asking people about rats.
00:06And that's because up and down the UK over the course of the last 12 months, we've seen a big rise in the number of rat infestations inside buildings and out on the streets.
00:14So we want to know, have people noticed an increase in the amount of pests that they've seen around town and what do they think should be done about it?
00:22Well I don't know what's causing it, just more litter. More litter, more people throwing food out.
00:26I've not seen that many rats more than anywhere else. What is it, you're never more than two metres from a rat anyway, something like that.
00:33Something like that. I don't know what you do to Kirby, but you're in a densely populated urban area. It's difficult.
00:41I feel like that last week, we were gaming and we saw a rat, didn't we?
00:45Yeah we did, yeah. There was one out in the middle of the day and we saw it on the side of the road, didn't we?
00:49Everyone was walking past it and then there was people who noticed at last minute and they were like screaming, weren't they?
00:54They were going past with the cases, yeah. But I think if we'd have been on that side we'd have crossed over.
