What would you say to young people getting their A-level results this week - especially those who are worried about what it means for their future?
Transcript
00:00I think it's really difficult for young people today, people are just coming out of their A-levels thinking about higher education.
00:05It was a different ball game. I'm in my 60s and we had a grant and we had free tuition and all that kind of thing.
00:11It's so difficult for the children, you know, the people of the same generation as my children and the grandchildren coming up.
00:18I really didn't know what to advise them.
00:21I think really go for something that interests you rather than something you think you're going to be able to make a load of money at.
00:27Because if it interests you, you'll do pretty well at it.
00:30I did no A-levels. I wish I had, but I didn't. So I'd say good luck to them.
00:35Try and be as true to yourself as possible and just remember that you're young and you don't know everything yet.
00:43So don't think that you have everything planned out.
00:47You know, what you want to do now, you might not want to do in 10 years' time.
00:53Just try and be as honest and true. Don't try and impress anybody else.
00:56Sometimes you think it's going to be hard getting a job.
