00:00Leeds United ended their pre-season campaign with a positive 1-1 draw against Italian giants AC Milan in Dublin.
00:08Many Leeds United supporters had made the trip across to Ireland to watch the game and they were rewarded with a good draw for their side.
00:16Obviously pre-season results don't tend to matter much but it was positive certainly for Leeds United in terms of getting a draw against such a club.
00:25Milan took the lead in the first half through Santiago Jimenez about 5 or 10 minutes before half-time before Leeds then equalised midway through the second period through Anton Stache.
00:37Therefore a good day's work for Leeds United. It's fair to say they've had a relatively positive pre-season.
00:43Certainly lots of new players coming in and betting into the squad under Daniel Farker so far.
00:48So let's hear from Farker himself and the goal scorer Anton Stache following what was a good day for Leeds United in the Republic of Ireland against AC Milan.
01:01Yes, important final test for us here in pre-season so I'm pretty delighted.
01:05We showed again a really good performance and also a decent result against one of Europe's giants.
01:11So we wanted to play during this pre-season against really top sides starting also with our first game against Man United, Villarreal, AC Milan.
01:22So even in the top draw in Europe's football and to come out of this pre-season, yeah, more or less unbeaten.
01:32And if you want to count the first game, like two games out of six games, not one loss, three wins, three draws is really good.
01:40But right now the real stuff starts and right now the results are even more important.
01:46But the performances are on a good level and this is quite important.
01:50Anton Stache had a fantastic game today and scored the equaliser as well.
01:53Just how impressed have you been with him recently?
01:55Yes, that's why he was one of my wish signings and we have spent lots of money on him because we're all convinced from his character
02:04but also from his football qualities he fits to this club and he was one of our key signings so far for sure.
02:12And he's on a good pass and showed today, I agree, really, really good performance.
02:17But there's still some stuff what we have to do and to prepare and also to prepare our squad in the best possible way.
02:23And for that we're on a good pass but our business is not finished yet.
02:27We need a few more additions, especially in the offense, in order to be ready.
02:30But we are on a good pass.
02:32The let's have proven this and yes, right now the real stuff starts.
02:37How do you feel the team is gelling together ahead of the first Premier League game next weekend?
02:42We were pretty picky in terms of the new players, who we want to bring in
02:47because football quality is one side but it's also important to find the right characters.
02:53And I have to say, not just from the football point of view but also from the way they are as human beings.
03:01They fit 100%.
03:02I think it was a really good game.
03:05We played really well nearly overall the whole game.
03:08But you see against such a good team with high quality, you have to be focused in every situation.
03:14And of course, it was not everything perfect.
03:19But I think we as a team played really well today.
03:23So we need to get this positive energy to the season.
03:26Well, you yourself, you scored a fantastic goal from outside the box.
03:30Fantastic finish.
03:30Yeah, thank you.
03:33But it was something between, you know, between a cross and a shot because our set pieces coach,
03:39he tells me all the time, yeah, I just have to shoot it hard.
03:43So when nobody touches it, that it has to be on the goal.
03:47And so it was a nice goal, yeah.
03:49And playing in front of almost 50,000 Leeds fans here in Ireland.
03:53And what was it like to play in front of these fans?
03:55Yeah, it's unbelievable.
03:56It was like a home game, I think, for us.
03:59I looked around and I only see our colours of the club.
04:03It's so nice.
04:03And that's why I'm so excited for the next game, for our first home game in the Premier League.
04:09I think the fans, yeah, they even pushed us today really hard.
04:14With pre-season now out of the way, just one week of training remains for Leeds
04:18before they make their return to the Premier League.
04:21They'll be the last to do so along with Everton
04:23as the two clubs take on each other at Elland Road
04:26on the Monday evening of the first weekend of the Premier League season.
04:30Lots to look forward to from a Leeds United perspective.
04:33Daniel Farker and Stash certainly happy with how things went against AC Milan.
04:37But now they must prepare to face Everton on the opening night of their season.
