A cloudy start with outbreaks of rain for Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern England, but the rain becoming increasingly confined to the Highlands and islands of northern Scotland. Largely fine to start the day elsewhere, with lengthy spells of sunshine and any early mist and fog patches lifting. Quickly becoming very warm in the south and hot in places by the afternoon. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the morning of 11/08/2025. 00:00Hello, good morning, welcome to your latest forecast from the Met Office and the fourth
00:05summer heat wave begins as temperatures rise quite widely across England and Wales in particular,
00:11something not quite as hot across parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland. Here are the
00:15peak temperatures for the week ahead. We're looking at the low possibly near the mid-30s
00:20over the next few days, something a little less hot as we get towards the end of the
00:25week but still well above average around 29 or 30 Celsius. The average for this time of year should
00:30be nearer around 20 to 22 Celsius, particularly across southern parts of the UK. High pressure
00:36sat to the southeast, it means we're drawing in hot and humid air over the next few days but low
00:41pressure always near the north and the west, the risk of some rain at times here and then an increasing
00:46risk of some thunderstorms perhaps by Tuesday as low pressure generally becomes a little bit more
00:52dominant but lots to play for for that. It's a bit of a north-south split out there at the moment,
00:57fairly cloudy skies, Northern Ireland, Northern England, parts of Scotland, outbreaks of rain but
01:01the rain as we go through the day should become increasingly confined to the highlands and islands
01:06particularly by the afternoon. England and Wales seeing plenty of dry weather, some hazy spells of
01:11sunshine, best of the blue skies across eastern and southeastern parts of England but we are watching
01:17cloud gather from the southwest, parts of southwest England into Wales, the risk of one or two heavy
01:22showers or thunderstorms developing as we move through the day here. It should be dry elsewhere
01:26but perhaps one or two showers possible across northern England, southern Scotland, Northern Ireland
01:31as we go through the day but most places dry and those temperatures rising in that sunshine. The mid-20s,
01:38locally high 20s towards central and southeastern parts, a peak around 30, 31 Celsius in the London
01:44area, so feeling quite hot out there. If you want some relief from the heat, the coast will be a little cooler
01:49and cooler conditions across the northwest of the UK, generally the low 20s here and high teens across the
01:55northwest of Scotland with outbreaks of rain continuing through the day. Into the evening time, this rain continues
02:01to push further north across northern Scotland, reaching Orkney late evening time and then overnight,
02:07the continued risk of one or two thunderstorms, some showers developing. You might find that you see some lightning,
02:13you hear some thunder without any rain as the cloud is generally quite high levels but most places
02:18will stay dry. The risk of some thunderstorms increases across Northern Ireland and Northern
02:24England, southern Scotland into the early hours as well and we'll see the continued push of hot and
02:31humid air northwards, so temperatures overnight will become increasingly warm, 15, 16 Celsius as minimums in
02:37places, some places maybe a little higher than this, so it does start to become more uncomfortable for sleeping.
02:43So Tuesday is going to be a mixed day, they're at risk of one or two lingering thunderstorms first
02:48thing, they continue to push northwards but they become more isolated as the day goes on. There
02:53should be plenty of hazy sunshine across many parts, early rain across Orkney and Shetland will also clear,
02:59so most places dry but always the risk of one or two thunderstorms, perhaps Northern England
03:04into eastern and southeastern parts of Scotland being at a higher risk but they could pop up almost anywhere,
03:11particularly later on in the day and in that sunshine, that strong sunshine, high UV levels,
03:16temperatures will really rise, we're looking at highs around 33 Celsius across central and central
03:21southern parts of the UK, cooler around the coasts at the mid locally high 20s and across the far northwest
03:28of Scotland, temperatures in the low 20s possible here as well. So into the evening time on Tuesday,
03:35the risk of one or two thunderstorms in places, so it is worth just staying up to date with the forecast,
03:39but lots of places will stay dry and as I mentioned the peak of the heat most likely on Tuesday and
03:46into Wednesday before just starting to ease a little but staying above average. See you again soon.
