In this troubleshooting tutorial video, I'll show how to fix the "NET Framework" launcher error in Batman: Arkham Asylum. The complete message is: "Microsoft NET Framework: Unhandled exception has occurred in the applicatio. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately. External component has thrown an exception".
This is an error that prevents users from launching Batman: Arkham Asylum. Also, as a side effect of this problem, the launcher can appear "greyed out" or "blacked out", with the menu buttons of the launcher not appearing or being "unclickable" for the user. For this reason, many users refer to this problem as "Batman: Arkham Asylum not launching" or "Batman: Arkham Asylum launcher error". However, to be technically precise, the problem is not with the game launcher, but actually to the abscence of a required driver in order to run the game. While this may seem like a complex problem due to the technical error message, in truth, this is a rather simple problem to solve.

To fix this problem,
1. Go to the game folder Default installation location for Steam users is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY 2. Open the "redist" folder (Like I show in the video) 3. Run the PhysX installer located inside the "redist" folder 4. Proceed through the installation If your game doesn't have the "redist" folder, proceed to the next part of the video.
1. Go to the Internet 2. Search for "Nvidia PhysX Legacy" 3. Open the page 4. Download Nvidia PhysX Legacy 5. Install Nvidia PhysX Legacy If the webpage is no longer available, you can use the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine to access the page. In the video, I show how to do this. Follow the steps shown in the video.
If you are unable to install the PhysX driver, make sure to uninstall the currently installed PhysX drivers, as sometimes they can conflict with the installation of an older, legacy driver such as this one. You can find the currently installed PhysX drivers in "installed programs" of the computer.

The PhysX driver is a game physics software driver required to play some old games, including, among others, Batman: Arkham Asylum. Without this driver, the game will effectivelly not launch and cannot be played. However, the solution is quite simple, you only have to install it.
