In this troubleshooting tutorial video, I'll show how to fix the problem of GTA III "Cannot find 640x480 video mode", which is quite common in modern hardware when trying to run the original version of GTA III. This video is not meant for the "Definitive Edition" of Grand Theft Auto III; instead, this video is addressing issues strictly related to the 2001 original version of GTA III, the original initial software version that was released.

In order to fix this technical problem, we need to do two different things. Firstly, we will fix the compatibility issue. Second, we will fix the "invisible" menu problem that happens when trying to run in modern hardware. Both steps are necessary to run the game and fix this issue completely, to ensure a smooth playthrough and a good experience with the software.

00:00 Fixing Compatibility Issues
00:25 Limiting the Frame Rate
00:44 Explanation

PART I - COMPATIBILITY MODE
1. Open the game folder
2. Right-click "gta3"
3. Click Properties - Click "Compatibility"
4. Check "Run this program in compatibility mode"
In the video, I show the navigation to reach this option.
5. Choose "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
6. Click "Apply" - Click "OK"
Proceed to the next part of the video.

PART II - FIX INVISIBLE MENU
1. Download and install a frame limiter software of your choice (For example, RivaTuner)
2. Limit the FPS to 30
Obs.: If you don't do this, the menus of the game will be invisible because the game was designed to be played at 30 FPS, not higher.
