Hello again. Temperatures are set to rise over the next few days for many of us,
00:05
particularly in the south where it will be turning quite hot by Monday and Tuesday.
00:08
But back to Saturday evening and it's still northern parts of Scotland that are seeing
00:12
quite a number of showers being blown in on quite brisk westerly winds. It's not going to be quite
00:17
as windy overnight as it was on Saturday daytime, but nonetheless it will stay fairly breezy.
00:21
Elsewhere across the UK, clearing skies for many, turning dry and fairly chilly in the countryside,
00:27
so temperatures in some rural spots perhaps dipping down into mid-single figures and that
00:31
might just allow one or two very shallow mist and fog patches to form in prone spots. Most towns and
00:37
cities though staying comfortably in double figures. So we begin the day on Sunday with lots of blue sky
00:43
and sunshine for the vast majority. Any morning shallow mist and fog quickly clearing in that
00:48
really strong August sunshine. A few showers still continuing to come into western parts of Scotland,
00:53
particularly the Outer Hebrides and the Northern Isles, but these are much fewer and further
00:57
between and also lighter than they were on Saturday. So it will be feeling warmer wherever you are on
01:02
Sunday compared to on Saturday, particularly so across more northern parts of the UK and that's
01:06
because the breeze will be quite a bit lighter. As you'll notice though across Northern Ireland,
01:11
it turns cloudy through the afternoon here and we may well see a few spots of rain off and on through
01:16
the afternoon. In the best of the sunshine though, further south across the heart of England and Wales,
01:21
well temperatures into the mid-20s quite comfortably and perhaps as high as 28 degrees in London and as
01:27
I say, a warmer day for Scotland and Northern Ireland compared to Saturday too. Temperatures
01:31
around average for the time of year here. As we go into Sunday evening though, that rain,
01:36
that cloud across Northern Ireland spreads into western parts of Scotland so the highlands turning
01:41
quite wet and fairly breezy too and a bit of a damp night for many parts of Northern Ireland and
01:46
Scotland with some rain off and on, most persistent across the west of Scotland and perhaps parts of
01:52
Cumbria at times too. Further south across many parts of England and Wales, staying largely dry,
01:57
clear periods at times as well and not as cool as it will be on Saturday night. So generally speaking,
02:03
temperatures holding up into the low teens and perhaps not falling much below 15 or 16 Celsius in
02:08
some spots. So definitely a north-south split in the weather to begin the day on Monday and it's all
02:14
thanks to this wiggling weather front that's bringing the rain across Scotland and Northern
02:17
Ireland. It will clear away for a time and that's going to allow high pressure to build as we go into
02:21
Monday. So those shades of red on the map indicating that temperatures will be on the rise,
02:26
but we could just see one or two isolated thunderstorms courtesy of this area of low pressure
02:30
later on Monday and more especially on Tuesday and Wednesday. So putting a bit more detail on Monday's
02:36
forecast then, definitely a north-south split in the weather. Quite cloudy across Scotland, Northern
02:40
Ireland and parts of Northern England. The rain tending to come and go, but most persistent in
02:44
western Scotland. I'm hopeful there'll be at least some brightness coming through at times even here
02:49
though. Otherwise, England and Wales seeing mostly sunny skies, although there will be more in the way of
02:54
high-level cloud out there compared to on Sunday. So the sunshine hazy at times and perhaps even
03:00
one or two isolated thunderstorms developing across the southwest of England later in the day.
03:05
But look at those temperatures, widely into the mid to high 20 Celsius and some spots will reach the
03:11
low 30s on Monday. So feeling pretty hot in that strong August sunshine across many parts of England
03:17
and Wales and even 22 to 24 across many parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. So it is set to turn
03:24
hotter for particularly southern areas over the next few days. So if you're interested to know just how
03:29
high temperature is going to get in your area and how long this heat wave may well persist for,
