09 August - National weather forecast presented by Amy Bokota.
Transcript
00:00Hello and good morning to you. So you may have heard that things are warming up this
00:04weekend and that is true for some of us but not for everyone this weekend. So first of
00:09all we have this area of low pressure pushed in on a strong westerly jet stream across
00:14the northern half of the UK. Strong isobars there, it's going to be quite a windy start
00:18to the weekend. Elsewhere though we do start to see high pressure build and it will turn
00:22warmer for the second half of the weekend, particularly across southern and eastern parts
00:27as that high pressure builds through the weekend it will be turning warmer.
00:32Back to this morning though, so for many it's going to be a dry and bright start
00:36today particularly for eastern England but we have this cold front moving its way
00:40southeast and during the morning it could be quite heavy
00:43as well. It starts to break up by the time we head into the early afternoon.
00:46North Wales and northern England it'll be mostly just a scattering of showers.
00:51Behind it as well we've got cooler air and blustery showers moving in
00:54particularly across northwestern parts of Scotland but further south ahead of this frontal
00:59system plenty of sunshine around and it will be feeling quite warm in that sunshine.
01:05Best of that will be across the south eastern part of England 26 or 27 degrees
01:09could be reached on Saturday but it's going to be fairly breezy. Notice on the western coast
01:13those temperatures are down a touch 18 to 20 degrees on the western coast of Wales
01:18and across northern parts of Scotland 17 to 19 degrees and here with those strong winds
01:23it's going to be certainly feeling a little bit cooler in those locations.
01:28Heading through the rest of Saturday then so for most places much of that cloud and rain
01:32begins to break away and in most places we'll see quite a clear night Saturday in towards Sunday
01:37morning. Winds begin to lighten as well and there may still be a breeze and a few showers across
01:41northwestern Scotland but most places will be starting Sunday with something drier and calmer.
01:48And with those clear skies and light winds it will be a touch cooler as well. We could even get down to
01:53single degrees in some rural spots but on the whole about 11 to 13 degrees for most places to start on
01:59Sunday. Moving through the rest of Sunday then so plenty of places under the influence of that high
02:05pressure are going to be seeing sunny skies and light winds particularly across England and Wales.
02:11Northern Ireland initially seeing some sunshine before cloud begins to thicken from the west as a
02:15frontal system approaches and although there'll be some cloud and some showers and some breezy conditions
02:20on northwest Scotland it'll certainly be feeling a lot better than it has been for the last couple of
02:24days. So what are the temperatures looking like on Sunday then? So again a similar picture 17 to 19 degrees
02:31across parts of Scotland and again similarly cooled down the far west coast of Wales but inland and in
02:37those central parts particularly near London we could see 26 or maybe even 27 degrees on Sunday as well.
02:44As we head through the rest of the weekend then what will we see into the start of the new working week?
02:52It does look like we're going to see warmer conditions so if you want to catch any more of
02:56our forecast please do have a look at our YouTube channel to keep ahead of the forecast.
