Ollie Westbury brings you his analysis of Shrewsbury Town's dismal 4-0 defeat on the road at Tranmere. Salop were 2-0 down before defender Will Boyle was sent off. They then conceded two further goals and slipped to a 4-0 loss.
00:01It ended here at Prenton Park, Shrewsbury Town Hill, Tranmere Rovers 4. Shrewsbury's first defeat of the League 2 season came at the hands of the Super White Army on what was an incredibly disappointing day for Michael Appleton's men.
00:19They had more than 1,000 fans making the trip to Merseyside to watch them play today and they put in an incredibly sub-par performance to lose the game by a really comfortable margin.
00:33The afternoon started with bad news as Eli Harrison missed out again, still struggling with the foot injury that he picked up in the final pre-season game against Burnley.
00:46Shrewsbury just did not manage to get anything going and they really, really struggled in the opening 20 minutes.
00:53A very disappointing way to concede, a goal that did go through a lot of players' legs but still it wasn't good enough from a defensive perspective and they were rocked back by that as within four minutes the home side went to two goals ahead.
01:07It was an incredibly disappointing afternoon and despite the triple substitution at half-time made by Appleton Town actually did bounce back a little bit from that point of view and they did look better but unfortunately Will Boyle was then sent off just around the hour mark which pretty much put the tie to bed.
01:26Two goals later on in the game with Town chasing it and being 2-0 down meant that it ended up being 4-0 and it was a pretty limp display, a disappointing and flat one so you can understand how those fans that have made the journey to Merseyside today feel.
01:42It feels like a deja vu, groundhog day, we're back here again, there were so many disappointing days in last year's campaign but it feels unfortunately like another one today as Shrewsbury unfortunately lose 4-0 at Trampier.
