00:00Hello there, good afternoon. You may have heard it's due to turn hotter in the next few days.
00:05And whilst this is the case for many of us, it's actually fairly cool in the north-west today.
00:09And that's courtesy of this area of low pressure to the north-west of Scotland
00:12and this cold front that's pushing its way south-eastwards across the UK today.
00:16It's also bringing a line of heavy showers and some longer spells of rain early this morning.
00:21Still one or two showers across the far south-west and parts of South Wales too.
00:24But otherwise, many southern and eastern parts of the UK have seen a dry and sunny start to the day.
00:30And as we go through the course of this afternoon,
00:32I'm expecting those dry conditions across the south of the UK to continue.
00:35So lots of sunshine, just a bit of patchy fairweather cloud in places.
00:39Here's that cold front across northern parts of England and North Wales,
00:41just bringing the odd shower here and there, perhaps the odd slightly heavy one in places too.
00:47Further north, there'll be some sunshine as well.
00:49So a brighter afternoon compared to this morning across many parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:53A mixture of clouds, sunny spells and scattered showers.
00:56Most of the showers across Scotland and here there could be the odd heavy one,
01:00perhaps even with the odd rumble of thunder.
01:02But it will be breezy in the north and actually rather windy across northern parts of Scotland.
01:06And so therefore, it's going to feel on the cool side for the time of year
01:09and fairly chilly actually across the far north of Scotland.
01:12See these temperatures just 14 or 15 degrees in places.
01:15Further south though, across many southern parts of England,
01:18still breezy but with lots of sunshine.
01:20Temperatures in the mid-20s, so feeling very warm indeed.
01:24As we go into this evening, that band of cloud and showers tends to break up
01:27so we don't really see much in the way of rain across southern parts of the UK at all.
01:32And for most overnight, the winds will ease down as well, so clear skies.
01:36We may well see a little bit of patchy mist and fog forming in the most prone rural spots.
01:41Further north and west across Scotland, just one or two showers continuing,
01:44mainly coming into the west coast of Scotland and across the Northern Isles,
01:47but even here turning much drier.
01:49So in the countryside, where the winds do fall light,
01:52we could well see temperatures fall down into the mid to high single figures tonight.
01:56So fairly fresh for some of us, but temperatures holding up in double figures for most of the towns and cities.
02:02Now for Sunday, it's looking like a fine day for the vast majority.
02:05Temperatures quickly rising in that strong August sunshine.
02:08A bit of patchy cloud bubbling up in places, but most places will have a dry and very warm picture.
02:14So much lighter winds than on Saturday.
02:16So further north, it will feel quite a bit warmer than it did on Saturday.
02:21One or two showers across the north of Scotland first thing.
02:23Notice towards the west, Northern Ireland turning cloudy with some patchy rain
02:27through the second half of the afternoon into the evening.
02:30But otherwise, it stays fine, dry and very warm indeed.
02:34So temperatures up on Saturday, quite widely into the mid-20s,
02:38perhaps as high as 28 degrees in London.
02:41And generally about average further north across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
02:44So feeling a little bit warmer than on Saturday.
02:48Through Sunday evening, though, that band of cloud and rain tends to become a bit more persistent
02:53across western parts of Scotland.
02:54So turning into a fairly breezy and wet evening here.
02:58Otherwise, though, many parts of England and Wales getting away with another clear and dry evening.
03:03As we go into only next week, then it's all about temperatures rising.
03:06So high pressure building across many parts of the UK,
03:08bringing with it some increasing warmth and humidity.
03:12So temperatures into the low to mid-30s Celsius, perhaps for many of us on Monday and Tuesday,
03:17particularly across England and Wales inland.
03:20This area of low pressure just might well spark one or two isolated thunderstorms, though.
03:24So something to keep an eye on.
