00:00In our previous episode, Smart was assigned to protect Control Agent Michael Kendall,
00:09who was on his way to London carrying top-secret information.
00:13But Chaos managed to kidnap Kendall from under Smart's very nose.
00:18Kendall was the 21st Control Agent to disappear in the last six months.
00:23And Chaos wasn't stopping there.
00:26The news of my disappearance staggered Control.
00:30Well, I have worse news than that. Harvey just closed a Control Delicatessen and went home.
00:34Well, they must be keeping them prisoners somewhere, Max, but where?
00:37What Max and 99 didn't know then was that we were all being held in a Prisoner of War camp somewhere in New Jersey,
00:44run by that infamous Chaos agent, Siegfried.
00:47Prisoners of Camp Kichikume, Lulubaba,
01:02arriving today from our glorious fatherland, South America,
01:10is a man who will take you behind the iron cordon, Major Fritz Kessler.
01:20That's right, Major Fritz Kessler, the beast of Buenos Aires.
01:26Smart posing as Major Fritz Kessler managed to infiltrate the camp with the intention of organizing a mass escape.
01:45Max, you'll never get away with it. Siegfried will recognize you.
01:48You'll probably laugh, but you remind me of Control Agent Maxwell Schmadt.
01:54That is the funniest thing I have ever heard, Siegfried.
01:59Maxwell Schmadt, eh?
02:00You have a delightful sense of humor.
02:05A drink to it.
02:08No, really, if not for the eye patch and the mustache on your glass, I would swear.
02:13On your glass?
02:14Your arm, Siegfried Schmadt!
02:16Stacke!
02:16Is Klemander on a foot?
02:18Help me, Lulubaba!
02:22Never mind, Stacke!
02:24Will you get away, Siegfried?
02:25I don't think so.
02:26This window overlooks the kernels.
02:28Silbeton to shreds!
02:31Stacke!
02:32Release the dogs!

05:41Realize that once Kessler gets us behind the Iron Curtain, it'll be the end of control.
05:46Not if we escape before he gets here.
05:48We've tried everything, 86.
05:50This camp is escape-proof.
05:52There must be some way to get out of here.
05:57What's on the other side of these trees?
05:59Well, it's an electric fence.
06:00It encircles the entire camp, and they keep a current running through it 24 hours a day.
06:05Well, how much of an electrical charge runs through the fence?
06:08Well, ask Penwick. He tried to climb over it once.
06:10Man, the electricity that went through me, I'm lucky to be alive.
06:14Looks all right to me.
06:16Max, when Penwick got here, he was white.
06:21Well, Max?
06:23Chief, I have two ideas running through my head.
06:26Now, one of them is not so hot, but the other one is sensational.
06:30Let's hear it.
06:31Okay. Now, we tell Siegfried that we're going to send a package home for the holidays.
06:35Then all 23 of us get inside the package.
06:38That's a terrible plan.
06:41Oh.
06:42Well, would you like to hear the one that's not so hot?
06:45Max, the last escape is virtually impossible.
06:48Our best bet is to send one man out, have him summon help, and then come back for the rest of us.
06:53Chief is absolutely right, Max.
06:55That man should be you.
06:56You've just arrived.
06:57You're more physically up to it.
07:00Well, wait a minute, Chief.
07:04The laundry truck.
07:05Isn't there a laundry truck that comes by here every day?
07:07Yeah, that's the truck that picks up the laundry right out here and takes it into town.
07:11All right, Chief.
07:12Here's my plan.
07:13Which laundry bag is Max in?
07:19The one with the two X's on it.
07:21Oh.
07:21He made it.
07:32In a few minutes, Max will be in town and on his way for help.
07:35Hello, Chief of Control.
07:41I trust you're enjoying your stay at Camp Kichikuminunibawa.
07:45Oh, by the way, you might be interested to know we have some changes.
07:50Effective immediately, we will no longer be sending our laundry out.
07:54From now on, the laundry will be done here in the camp.
07:58In that lake.
08:05Oh, no.
08:21Can't you sweep without making so much dust?
08:25I'll wait outside.
08:27But make it snappy.
08:35Quick, Max will be at the fence any moment now.
08:38Now, he'll need approximately 15 seconds to get over the fence after we short-circuit the current.
08:42Here's the screwdriver.
08:43Right, Chief.
08:43We'd like you to be the word.
08:47Ready?
08:48Now.
08:50We did it.
08:52What happened?
08:53I don't know.
08:54A fuse must have blown.
08:55The lights are off all over the camp.
08:57Oh, that's too bad, Siegfried.
08:59Starker!
09:00You're all night coming up!
09:01Go on, the auxiliary power!
09:03Ja!
09:05Now, let me get this straight, Smart.
09:13You are challenging me to a race?
09:16That's right, Starker.
09:17From here to the gate and back again.
09:19You realize, of course, that I was the all-time track star of the Third Reich and the second man out of El Alamein.
09:27The second?
09:28Siegfried was first.
09:29Oh.
09:30Well, if you're that good, Starker, I'll tell you what we'll do.
09:32Let's make it a hundred-yard dash.
09:35A hundred yards.
09:37Yes.
09:37What do you think, Chief?
09:38That should just about do it, shouldn't it?
09:41Of course, you realize you'll have to open the gate and go halfway up the road.
09:44I know that.
09:46Schultz!
09:47Open the gate!
09:49You wouldn't care to make a little wage on the side, would you, Smart?
09:53Yes, I think so, Starker.
09:54How about, uh, five dollars?
09:57All right.
09:59Twenty marks.
10:00Oh, well, I'm afraid I can't go that high.
10:03Max, twenty marks is five dollars.
10:05Oh.
10:05Well, then, I can go that high.
10:07Well, you will hold the money.
10:09All right.
10:09And you will also be the starter.
10:11You count to three, then yell, bang!
10:15You on your mark.
10:17Get set.
10:18One, two, three, bang!
10:21Go, Max!
10:24Hurry up!
10:25He's out the gate.
10:26He's got it made.
10:27Atta boy, Max!
10:28He's at the halfway mark.
10:29He's way ahead of Starker.
10:34Why's he turning around?
10:38Max, what are you doing?
10:40I beat him, Chief.
10:41Max, you were out the gate.
10:42Why didn't you keep going?
10:44And lose five bucks?
10:47Smart.
10:49Smart, smart.
10:50You won the race.
10:51But you almost lost your life.
10:54What do you mean?
10:55Well, had you kept going...
11:05I don't understand it, Chief.
11:07Every move we've made, Siegfried has been right there.
11:09It's almost as if he knew what we were planning in advance.
11:12I think he did know, Max.
11:14That's impossible, Chief.
11:15The only one who knew our plans were controlled prisoners.
11:17I don't know who it is, Max.
11:21But one of us is an informer.
11:23Thanks to you, we have successfully sworeed every escape attempt they have made.
11:48Keep up the good work.
11:50He's gone.
12:15Okay, Chief, go ahead.
12:16I've gotten word that Major Kessler is arriving in two days.
12:21Well, we'd better start packing.
12:22No, Max.
12:23We'd better start digging.
12:25You mean we're going to try and tunnel our way out of here, Chief?
12:27Exactly.
12:28And we've got to finish digging out within 48 hours.
12:32Why bother digging a tunnel when the informer's bound to tell Siegfried what we're up to?
12:37Well, that's part of my plan.
12:38What plan?
12:39Well, I've been thinking about this for two days.
12:41Now, here's what we'll do.
12:42We'll tell everyone that we're tunneling toward the east fence.
12:45Now, the informer will tell Siegfried, and Siegfried will be waiting for us outside the east fence.
12:50That's a terrible plan.
12:52I haven't finished yet, Max.
12:54Now, while Siegfried is waiting for us outside the east fence, we'll actually be tunneling toward the west fence.
13:00Well, that's a little better.
13:01Now, this is the most important part.
13:03You three are the only ones I can trust, so we've got to make the others believe that we are really going toward the east fence.
13:10Here, let me draw you a diagram.
13:11Now, this is the east fence, right?
13:18Right, right.
13:19Wrong.
13:21What do you mean, wrong?
13:22Well, that doesn't look anything like the east fence, Chief.
13:25Where are the trees and the birds and the flowers?
13:28Max, I'm not trying to be realistic.
13:30I'm trying to draw a diagram.
13:32Go on, Chief.
13:34Now, this is the west fence, right?
13:37Up here is the north fence.
13:39Down here is the south fence.
13:40Now, this X marks where we are right now.
13:43That's where we'll start digging the tunnel.
13:46Now, this X marks the east fence where Siegfried will be waiting for us.
13:50This X marks the west fence where we're going to fool him and come out.
13:54Now, does that do it?
13:56Almost.
14:04So that's how they plan to escape.
14:07A truly ingenious plane, similar to the one I used to get out of L.A.L.M.N.
14:12But, thanks to our informer, we'll be waiting for them when they come up at the west fence.
14:18We'll be waiting for them in the truck.
14:45And, Kessler will be seated behind the wheel.
14:52Siegfried, you are the most corrupt individual I have ever met.
14:58And you're standing on my foot.
15:01Come on, I'm done!
15:02Yes, what is it?
15:15We have a few more bags of dirt to get rid of, Chief.
15:17Okay, Max.
15:18Henwick, give me a hand.
15:43Hurry up, Chief.
15:56These things weigh a ton.
15:58Yeah.
16:00Henwick, have the men distribute that dirt all around the camp and then bring the bags back.
16:04Right, Chief.
16:05How you doing, Max?
16:11I'm all right, Chief.
16:12Kendall just took over the digging.
16:13How far have you tunneled, Max?
16:15Well, how far would you say it is to the west fence?
16:18About 200 yards.
16:19Well, I'd say that we've tunneled, oh, must be 12, 14 feet.
16:2912 or 14 feet?
16:30You and Kendall have been down there since 6 o'clock this morning.
16:33Yes, Chief, but we didn't start digging until 8.
16:36Why not?
16:36Well, you see, for the first two hours, we couldn't decide who should dig and who should fill the bags with dirt.
16:42So we tossed a coin.
16:43Max, it doesn't take two hours to toss a coin.
16:45No, but it took two hours to find it.
16:47Max, at the rate you're going, you'll have to dig all through the night in order to reach that fence by morning.
16:52We only had some flashlights, Chief.
16:54Well, you don't have any flashlights.
16:55You're just going to have to make do with what you've got.
16:57Well, okay, Chief, but I'm warning you, some of those fireflies are beginning to weaken.
17:02Max, go back down there and fill those bags with dirt.
17:05Right, Chief.
17:07Oh, by the way, Chief, what are you doing with the dirt?
17:09Well, we're having all the men fill their pockets with the dirt,
17:12and then when no one's looking, they sprinkle it around the compound.
17:14Hey, that's a great idea, Chief.
17:15I saw that in a movie once.
17:17What movie?
17:18Cabin.
17:19Goodbye, Max.
17:20Bye, Chief.
17:22See, Fred?
17:24He's pushing the rock back over the tunnel entrance.
17:26Get away from that window!
17:28I don't want him to be suspicious.
17:31I want him to keep digging until Kessler gets here in the morning.
17:36Oh, what time do you think Kessler will get here?
17:38Exactly 8 o'clock.
17:40I hope he gets here earlier.
17:43I got 7.30 in the pool.
17:45You and those stupid pools, don't you understand?
17:47You don't stand a chance of winning.
17:49Why not?
17:50Because I got 8 o'clock in the pool.
17:52Max has passed under the fence, and they're starting to tunnel up, Chief.
18:21Oh, that's great.
18:22Wilkins, keep an eye out for the guards.
18:24Smith, go out to the garden and get on the flower stem.
18:26All right, men.
18:27Now, this is it.
18:28As soon as Agent 86 breaks through, I want all of you to get into that tunnel as quickly
18:32as possible and make your way through it single file.
18:35As soon as you come up outside the fence, head immediately for the woods.
18:38Don't turn around.
18:39Don't look back.
18:40Just go.
18:41We'll rendezvous tonight at the bus depot in Union City.
18:47Yeah.
18:48It looks like they're breaking through.
18:50Is everything in red enough?
18:52Yes, Siegfried.
18:53The guards sent a tuck evading in the bushes just outside the west fence.
18:57I don't see him.
18:58Yeah.
18:58Where is he?
18:59That's strange.
19:01He should be coming through any minute now.
19:02Hey, Chief.
19:12All right.
19:13Yeah.
19:19Town south instead of west.
19:23You know what I could have used more than a flashlight, Chief?
19:26A compass.
19:27A compass.
19:32Max, how could you have been so far off?
19:35I don't know, Chief.
19:36There was a big pipe down there in the tunnel.
19:39What pipe?
19:40Why didn't you dig under it?
19:41Well, Chief, I couldn't dig under it.
19:43It was too big.
19:44I tried to hack my way through it with a shovel, but I couldn't.
19:46It was too big.
19:47So finally, I had to make a detour around it.
19:50Well, there's only one thing to do.
19:51We'll have to charge the main gate.
19:52Now, most of us probably won't make it, but some of us will.
19:55Is everybody ready?
19:56All right.
19:57Get back.
19:58All of you.
20:00Kendall, you've got a gun.
20:01Gee, that's great, Chief.
20:02Look, Kendall's got a gun.
20:04So you're the informer, Kendall.
20:06That's correct.
20:08Oh, eh, that's why he's got a gun.
20:11You mean all that stuff at the airport was prearranged?
20:14That's right, schmarts.
20:16Wait a minute.
20:17You're talking with an accent.
20:18Before I was talking with an accent.
20:20Now I'm talking right.
20:23Well, Kendall, I hope you realize that this is going to be a black mark on your record.
20:28Shut up, schmarts.
20:30Chief, can he talk to me like that?
20:31Shut up, Max.
20:32All right.
20:33Now, all of you, move away from the tunnel.
20:37Good work, Max.
20:39I can't believe Kendall was the informer.
20:42Yeah, Siegfried certainly put one over on us.
20:44You bet your sweet shoe phone, schmarts.
20:50Throw that gun over here.
20:51So you knew all along that we weren't tunneling to the east fence.
20:57That's right.
20:58That's why I had all my men waiting outside the west fence.
21:01Well, Siegfried, it looks like my plan worked perfectly.
21:05What are you talking about, schmarts?
21:07Well, when we told our men to dig toward the east fence, we knew that the informer would tell you that we were really digging toward the west fence.
21:17So you put your men outside of the west fence.
21:20And now you're in here with us, and you're completely outnumbered.
21:24That was my plan, Siegfried.
21:26My plan.
21:27And I thought it out all by myself.
21:30Then you'll be the first one I'll kill.
21:33Well, not exactly by myself.
21:35The chief helped a lot.
21:38Siegfried, they're coming.
21:40They're coming.
21:41Who's coming?
21:42Everybody.
21:43The electric companies, the gas companies, the fire department.
21:46Everybody.
21:46What are they coming here for?
21:48I just called a phone call.
21:49It seems there was a power failure in Passaic, and they traced it to a cable running under our camp.
21:56That must be what you ran into under the ground, Max.
21:58Of course, I know that, chief.
22:00When they get here and find we are running a prison-of-war camp without a license, we'll be arrested.
22:06Come on, we've got to get out of here.
22:08Kessler's waiting.
22:09Kessler's here?
22:10And it's only 7.30?
22:13Siegfried?
22:13I win the pool.
22:17Let's take 9.30.
22:19That's all of you, Stag.
22:21Till we meet again.
22:24Smart.
22:27All right, men, give me your attention.
22:30Well, this was a tough one, men, but we made it.
22:32Now, we're going to march out of here, and a lot of those people in Passaic are going to be watching us.
22:36And I want them to see the kind of control agents we really are.
22:40Proud and undefeated.
22:42Now, fall in on a column of twos.
22:44All right, everybody, fall in.
22:46Let's go.
22:46Fall in.
22:47Look, smart.
22:48Then we get the door.
22:52Ready?
22:53Follow me.
22:53Oh, Max, this telegram came for you while you're in the shower.
23:15They can't do this to me.
23:21Who?
23:22The Passaic Electric and Power Company.
23:24Remember I told you about that cable that I cut through in the tunnel?
23:27Uh-huh.
23:27Well, they're demanding that I pay $485 in repairs.
23:32Max, what are you going to do?
23:33I'm not going to pay it.
23:35That's what I'm going to do.
23:36Well, can't they make some kind of trouble?
23:38How?
23:38We live in Washington.
23:39They're in New Jersey.
23:40But I thought all those companies were affiliated.
23:43So what if they are?
23:44What kind of trouble could they make?
23:47I'll send them a check first thing in the morning.
23:49I'll send them a check first thing in the morning.
24:35You
