00:00Jordan, first, I just want to get to the trash talk.
00:03It seems like you're having a blast out there, especially with Jamar Chase.
00:06What is kind of fueling that for you?
00:09It's just trying to bring the energy to practice, you know,
00:11make sure everybody's having fun, make sure everybody's locked in.
00:15It's just coming from where I come from, Florida, we trash talk all the time,
00:21but it always comes from a good place, especially when you're talking with your teammates.
00:24It's about just keeping the energy up in practice
00:26and make sure everybody's just in the ball.
00:28So, new defense coordinator, obviously, Al Golden.
00:32What has been the biggest change, in your opinion,
00:35with him coming in and bringing in his new vibes, his playbook, all that stuff?
00:39Yeah, I mean, every day he comes in, a lot of energy,
00:42starts the meeting off, you know, with energy and music,
00:46however we need to do, you know, so that we're energy,
00:50so that we're energized, so that we're here.
00:53He's just doing everything he needs to do.
00:55So, defensively, with the play calling, with the pre-snap looks,
00:59with the fronts, with the games, you know, making sure, you know, marriage,
01:04I mean, the rush and the coverage is marrying each other.
01:07So, I mean, it's been a great job.
01:08Everything he's been doing, we like it so far.
01:10You mentioned everything married together.
01:12It seems to me, and tell me if I'm wrong,
01:14but it seems to me like you guys are much more connected,
01:17even this offseason, than you have been the last few years past.
01:20Yeah, yeah, for sure.
01:21That was one thing coming in, especially as a DB core,
01:24make sure we're one, you know, make sure everybody knows they can speak,
01:27make sure they know if somebody sees something, you know, correct it,
01:30and then, I mean, just be leaders.
01:32Everybody in the world can be a leader, you know, we're a young group,
01:34we all know that.
01:35Just making sure everybody knows they have a voice, you know,
01:37in whatever we do.
01:38I've noticed that your trash talk does not discriminate.
01:41Whoever you are covering, you're going to trash talk.
01:43Who is your favorite receiver to trash talk?
01:47I'd probably say Umar, just because he talks back.
01:49I like guys who can engage and talk back, so, you know,
01:52that helps me work on my comeback story in the game sometimes
01:55if I want to trash talk, you know, even on the low, I mean,
01:57because sometimes you can't really do it because you get penalized,
02:00so no guy to get out and practice.
02:02Seems like you're in mid-season form already.
02:04Yeah, yeah, for sure.
02:04I'm already ready.
02:05All right, Joseph.
02:06Maybe this is just, like, my personal observation.
02:09What's up?
02:09But it seems like the defense is very connected.
02:13Like, kind of on fire.
02:14You got a very keen observation.
02:17You got a super keen observation.
02:21Yeah, you know, we're just playing fast, you know.
02:23And that's what Al kind of, with the way he installs it
02:28and allows us to run the defense,
02:30if we're running something completely wrong,
02:31as long as we're flying to it and we're all on the same page,
02:35we're good.
02:36You know, it's, and he'll tell us all the time,
02:38this is our defense, whatever we call.
02:40If we call something and we see something and we check to it,
02:43we have the keys to do that.
02:45But in order to get the keys to do that, we have to,
02:47and that's what he's challenged us with in the fall.
02:50It wasn't the fall.
02:51It was the spring.
02:52And excuse me.
02:53You're fine.
02:54I'm all over the world.
02:55So, you know, my, in the spring,
02:58he challenged us to really learn the playbook.
02:59So, as long as we learn it and we know it inside and out,
03:03he will give us those keys to be able to check in
03:05and check out of things and really run the defense ourselves.
03:08And that's what you see, us just playing fast,
03:11us recognizing stuff and being able to get in and out of things.
03:14I know it's only July,
03:15but it seems like you guys have like a light type of foot about you as well.
03:20Yeah.
03:20You know, it's, I don't know,
03:22I feel like a lot of the guys and kudos to Zach really implemented it
03:27at the beginning of spring.
03:29Got it right.
03:30Yeah.
03:31He's really implemented like guys getting to know each other
03:34and connect with each other.
03:37So, I feel like a lot of the guys love being around each other,
03:41like truly genuinely, genuinely enjoy being around each other.
03:45So, you just, it transfers onto the field.
03:47You see guys wanting to play for each other.
03:48You see guys running faster.
03:50And when somebody says something to correct somebody,
03:53it's not like they're being down on them because you know them.
03:57You know what I mean?
03:57You've built that connection.
03:58So, you know, truly, there's no underlining hatred behind what he's saying.
04:04He's truly saying this because he expects more from you
04:06and he wants you to get better.
04:08So, there's a, it's a completely different dynamic.
04:10So, kudos to Zach for that.
04:11And then, kudos to the guys for really taking that and running with it.
04:14And really, they could have said, you know what I mean?
04:17I don't have to get to know anybody.
04:18I got a lot of different things on my mind.
04:20Work, family, contracts, no contract, all that stuff.
04:23But they really took it and made it a part of it for sure.
04:27And speaking of contracts, Shamar Stewart signed his.
04:30Beautiful.
04:31What has it been like just getting to know him these last few months?
04:34And what has it been like working with him on the field finally?
04:37We got to know him during spring.
04:41And, yeah, he's great.
04:42He's great.
04:43And, like I said, you can get the sense that he just wants to get out there and play.
04:46And I'm glad he's there with a sign because you can see that he wants to get out there and play.
04:51He's just a destructive force.
04:52There's a lot of things to work on, but so does everybody have.
04:58But everybody at the line has a lot of things to work on.
05:00And J-Mo is the perfect coach for that because he will coach you till the cows come home.
05:05So I think he's going to be great.
05:07I can't wait to see him the first pieces of the game dominate.
05:10J-Mo, is that Jerry Montgomery?
05:12Yes, it is.
05:13It is.
05:13It is.
05:13It is.
05:14What's been the biggest thing that you've learned from Jerry?
05:16I would say the biggest thing I've learned, and this is kind of, like, conceptual, winning and pass rush looks different.
05:24It's not – there's no one formula to it.
05:29Winning is very different.
05:31But as long as you learn what you're good at and you're able to fine-tune all those different things to fit your body type and your skill set,
05:40it can look the same and you can turn that into greatness.
05:44As long as you're – when you make it look the same for you and you're consistent, then you can jump into that upper echelons and be great.
05:51And thank you, my good man.
05:53I've been reading a lot.
05:55I can tell.
05:56And you can jump in there and turn your pass rush skills into greatness.
06:01So, yeah, there's a lot of ways to win in pass rush.
06:05It's not just one way.
06:06But you have to find what works for you.
06:08Have you noticed that there seems to be more of, like, a – maybe you feel this way, too.
06:13Are you more comfortable in this defense?
06:15Like, does it just feel more comfortable?
06:18No comment.
06:19No comment.
06:21No comment.
06:22I can bait you.
06:22I'm sorry.
06:23No comment.
06:24No, you're good.
06:25Yeah, but like I said, like, that comes from – again, like, through the spring, he put us through – he threw the whole – you can ask a lot of guys.
06:32He threw the whole playbook at us and he forced us to learn it.
06:36And sometimes you got to get out there and fail.
06:38Like, you know, a lot of – like, he said, guys, I'm setting you up to fail so it can trigger something in your head and help you learn it.
06:44So, if you see comfortability, that's probably what it is.
06:47Like, we've gotten a lot thrown at us during the spring.
06:50So, now, like, when we're installing two or three new plays at a time, it's easier.
06:55You know what I'm saying?
06:56And we've already been put through it all.
06:58So, it's easier.
06:59Guys are playing faster.
07:00Again, we're more comfortable.
07:01If we see something, we can check in and check out of things.
07:04And it's great.
07:06How much fun do you have watching guys like Jordan Battle talk back and forth with guys like Jamar?
07:12I love it because we don't back down to nobody.
07:16We don't even care if he's on our team.
07:18That is our guy.
07:19Don't get me wrong.
07:2099 overall for a reason.
07:22But we don't back down to nobody.
07:24Come on.
07:25You know what I'm saying?
07:26Best receiver in the league for sure.
07:28But we don't back down to nobody.
07:30You know what I mean?
07:32But, yeah, I love that because it's only going to create greatness between those two guys.
07:36You know, if he can stand his ground against the best receiver in the league, he can go out on Sunday.
07:42And we don't care who Justin Jefferson is or any other other guys are.
07:47But you want that in a defense.
07:49So, you want someone, no matter what, even if it's, God forgive me, even if it's him standing in front of you,
07:55you want him to be able to stand his ground.
07:57So, that's all you can ask for.
07:59And I love seeing that from all those guys, too.
08:03DJ Turner.
08:04Yeah.
08:05I mean, yeah.
08:05McKnight.
08:06You know what I mean?
08:06All those boys.
08:07So, that's what you need.
08:25Yeah.
08:26You know, yeah.
08:26There she is.
08:27You know, yeah.
08:29I love that.
08:30Yeah.
08:31You know what I mean.
08:31There she is.
08:31He is.
08:34える need.
08:35I mean, yeah.
08:37The step should be.
08:37He's my friend.
08:39He..
08:40He's.
08:40He's.
08:41He's.
08:42I mean, yeah, yeah.
08:44He's.
08:44Yeah.
08:44He's.
08:44You know?
08:45You know what I mean?
08:46He's.
08:47He's.
08:47He does not.
08:48He's.
08:49He's.
08:49He knows.
08:50He's.
08:51He means you.
