Joseph Ossai on Bengals' Defense and Trey Hendrickson's Leadership
Transcript
00:00This week, there's been an emphasis on doing more.
00:03Whatever you can, whatever you think you're doing good, there's always a 1% you can get.
00:07So, feeling great, but ready to go, ready to get some more.
00:11And watching film with Jordan Love, it kind of seems like he's taking a step this season.
00:14Yeah.
00:15How important will it be to find that pressure and get after him,
00:19make his life incredibly uncomfortable on Sunday evening?
00:22Yeah, yeah, yeah, extremely, extremely, extremely important.
00:26And any time you can throw a guy like that off, that really commands the offense.
00:32It's a plus.
00:33But like we've said, we said it last week, too, we got to earn those rights.
00:37Earn the right to rush the passers.
00:39That's what Trey says a lot.
00:41And you do that by winning first and second down.
00:44So, we can prepare all we want, be as fierce as a group, rushing the passers all we want.
00:53But if we don't win those first and second downs, if we don't get those CFLs, that's all for nothing.
00:59You know what I mean?
00:59They're a group that if we let them, they will run the ball the whole game.
01:04So, we have to win those downs.
01:06More so the group, the whole defense this year, I would say.
01:10Previous years, it's just been to, because, you know, he's like it or not.
01:14Well, not like it or not.
01:17Whether he thinks so or not, he's a shy person.
01:20So, he's just, he really kept to himself with his vocalness.
01:26Like, so, he would be vocal to me or a Cam or the D-line.
01:30But this year, he's really taken that step to, like, speak to the defense as a whole.
01:35And it goes to show, because they voted him captain.
01:38You know what I mean?
01:39So, yeah, he's been speaking to the defense as a whole.
01:42So, he's been vocal that way.
01:46And it's great.
