07 August - National weather forecast presented by Honor Criswick.

00:00Hello there, good evening. Most showers easing away but remaining unsettled across Scotland.
00:06Still plenty of showers moving through here and also some quite strong gusty winds particularly
00:10across the far north of Scotland. That should push the showers eastwards across the country
00:14fairly quickly before longer spells of rain start to move their way through during the
00:18early hours of the morning. But elsewhere across England and Wales, showers easing away
00:23and it should be mostly dry. Plenty of clear spells overnight too but what you might notice
00:27is that it's going to feel a lot milder compared to last night. Some towns and cities particularly
00:31across the south not really dropping much past 15 maybe even 16 degrees but still fairly
00:36cool where we see the stronger winds across the north. Then into Friday once again Scotland
00:43really catching the short straw. Still plenty of showers drifting their way eastwards. These
00:47could be quite heavy and blustery at times particularly across Shetland and Orkney but elsewhere across
00:52England and Wales, Northern Ireland seeing plenty of sunny spells. Much lighter winds too
00:57and it is going to be feeling warm in that sunshine as well particularly across the south and
01:02southeast where temperatures could be 25 possibly even a localised 26 degrees Celsius but once
01:07again always that bit cooler in those strong winds across the north. Later into Friday evening
01:14we need to keep an eye on this low just to the northwest of the country once again seeing
01:17a squeeze in those isobars dragging in some more frontal systems so it's really the northwest as
01:23we head for the beginning of the weekend that's set to see further unsettled spells of weather so
01:27some heavy blustery outbreaks of rain drifting away eastwards but this feature does tend to weaken
01:32also so as it moves into northern parts of England more it's just kind of cloud and perhaps the
01:37odd shower but it's really across Scotland once again where we see those blustery showers continue to
01:42move through and yes there may be the odd one or two where we see that frontal system across northern parts of
01:47England, northern parts of Wales but mostly it should just bring in an influx of cloud and elsewhere
01:52particularly to the south of this feature there's still going to be plenty of sunshine and feeling
01:56warm temperatures up by a degree or two once again so highs of 25 26 maybe even a localised 27
02:02particularly across the southeast but still very blustery across parts of Scotland and still the
02:07risk of those heavy showers here. Then for the second half of the weekend all eyes further out into the
02:14Atlantic we're keeping an eye on this area of low pressure that's slowly drifting its way towards the
02:18country this is actually ex-tropical storm Dexter moving its way through and once again it may bring
02:23some heavy outbreaks of rain some strong winds to the northwest but notice across the south high
02:28pressure holding on and there's a good chance we could see some quite hot temperatures by Sunday
02:33and into early next week but for more information on this weekend's weather you can catch Alex Birkhill on YouTube.
