00:00Ten years ago today me and this extraordinary machine made our first appearance together on ITV
00:06and we've been pushing people to the edge ever since to celebrate our 10th birthday.
00:10We thought we'd throw back to where it all began with our first ever episode
00:13and amazingly neither of us have aged a bit. This is Vintage Tipping Point.
00:30Hello and welcome to Tipping Point, the quiz where every day our players' fortunes are literally teetering on the brink.
00:42This remarkable machine is stacked with counters. They're all worth money and our contestants answer questions for the chance to try and get them out.
00:50One of them will play for our £10,000 jackpot. The others will leave with nothing.
00:55So, let's meet today's four players.
00:57I'm Emma, I'm a sales executive and I'm from Hertfordshire.
01:00I'm Mick, I'm a London Underground Technician from Watford.
01:03I'm Kelly, I'm a swimming instructor from Reading.
01:05I'm Steve, I'm a singer and actor from Woking.
01:09Good luck. Let's play Tipping Points.
01:15In round one you each start with three counters, three chances to win some money.
01:19Questions are on the buzzer and a correct answer gives you a choice.
01:23You can either play one of your own counters or you can make an opponent go instead.
01:27Every counter that comes out of the machine is worth £50.
01:30Whoever has the least amount of money at the end of this round will be leaving the game.
01:35It's all about knowing when to play and when to stay well away.
01:39Remember, if you give me a wrong answer, one of those precious counters will be taken from you and put into our penalty pot.
01:45All of those counters will be up for grabs at the end of the round on a single question, so everything can change.
01:52Good luck.
01:53Here's your first question.
01:54In which US state is Las Vegas?
01:57Kelly.
01:58Nevada.
01:59It is Nevada.
02:00Straight in.
02:01Now, is the machine looking like she's ready to pay out or would you like one of your fellow contestants to play instead?
02:07I'm going to play.
02:08OK.
02:09You can use either of the four drop zones, one, two, three or four.
02:13Which one do you think is the most likely to pay out?
02:16I think I'm going to give four a go, actually.
02:18OK.
02:19OK.
02:20Let's fire up drop zone four.
02:21Release your first counter when you're ready.
02:30Towards the middle.
02:31That could be just right if it sits nicely.
02:33OK.
02:34It's nice and clean.
02:35Let's see if we can get something over the edge.
02:38Go on.
02:39Oh, yes.
02:40There you go.
02:41That's what we wanted.
02:42Anything over the tipping point.
02:43Go on, go on, go on.
02:4450 pounds of counter.
02:45Yes.
02:46Three counters over the tipping point.
02:48Oh, my God.
02:49That's 150 pounds.
02:50Woo-hoo!
02:51It goes straight into your bank, Kelly, with your first counter.
02:53Well done.
02:54Congratulations.
02:56Great start.
02:57Here comes your next question.
02:58The term bunny boiler comes from which 1987?
03:01Emma.
03:04Fatal Attraction.
03:06Just got it in before the buzzer.
03:08It was.
03:09Fatal Attraction.
03:10It was Fatal Attraction.
03:11So, do you fancy having a go, Emma, or do you think Kelly might have cleaned it out for the time being?
03:15I'm going to give number three a go.
03:16OK.
03:18When you're ready, release your first counter.
03:26Bouncy drop, sitting on its rim.
03:28Come on, my son.
03:31That's flat.
03:32Oh, come on.
03:33So key to get it flat.
03:34Those ones over there.
03:35Go on.
03:36Anything over the edge.
03:37Oh!
03:38Oh!
03:39Oh!
03:40Hello.
03:41It's gone.
03:42It's fallen too deep on the shove.
03:45That's not going to cause any damage to that tipping point, is it?
03:48No.
03:49You've got two left, though.
03:50Still got a chance to get some money.
03:51Here comes your next question.
03:53In the NATO phonetic alphabet, which word represents the letter E?
03:59Mick.
04:00Echo.
04:01It is.
04:02Well done.
04:03So, are you going to play or pass?
04:04Three's still looking quite good.
04:06So, I think I am going to choose three, please.
04:10Are you ready?
04:11Release your counter.
04:18Ghost drop.
04:19Very slow.
04:21Very, very slow.
04:22You need it to settle, Mick.
04:23Didn't like that at all.
04:24Flat.
04:25It's flat.
04:26Flat.
04:27Come on, baby.
04:28Anything going over that edge?
04:29Don't do it.
04:30Don't do it.
04:31Don't do it.
04:32Not this time, Mick.
04:33Oh!
04:34Sorry, Mick.
04:35OK.
04:36Here comes your next question.
04:39At the start of a game of snooker, how many red balls...
04:43Steve?
04:4415.
04:45There are 15.
04:46Where are you going to go, then, Steve?
04:47Do you fancy having a go?
04:48I'm playing number three.
04:49You're going to try and take advantage of Mick's hard work.
04:51Yep.
04:52Sorry, fella.
04:53What do you want, Steve?
04:54Release your counter.
04:59Much quicker drop.
05:00Is that where you wanted it?
05:01Slightly to the left would have been nicer, but let's have a look.
05:05That's flat.
05:06Come on.
05:07Come on.
05:08Will it edge Mick's counter over the shelf?
05:11No.
05:12No.
05:13Let's ignore it.
05:14No!
05:15Oh, lucky boy.
05:16Oh, God.
05:17That's good.
05:18Right, OK.
05:19Everybody's down to two counters.
05:20Let's get your next question.
05:22The liqueur maraschino is made from which fruit?
05:25Mick.
05:26Cherries.
05:27It is cherries, Mick.
05:28OK.
05:29I think I know where you're going.
05:30We'll have to go number three again, I think.
05:32OK, Mick.
05:33When you're ready, release your counter.
05:35It's in play.
05:36That's good.
05:37That could be good.
05:38That could be good.
05:39That could be good.
05:40Oh!
05:41Oh!
05:42Oh!
05:43Oh!
05:44Oh!
05:45Oh, no!
05:46That's four.
05:47Come on.
05:48Come on, Daddy.
05:49Go on, go on, go on, go on.
05:50Yeah!
05:51Nice.
05:52Five over the tipping point, Mick.
05:53Well done to you.
05:54Into the win zone.
05:55£250 goes into your bank.
05:57Woo!
05:58So, everybody, next question.
05:59Chopsticks is a quick tune that is played on which instrument?
06:02Mick.
06:03Piano.
06:04Correct.
06:05Of course it is.
06:06Now then, I assume you're going to play...
06:07There's one disc on three that is really, really sticking out over the edge.
06:11So, I'm going to be a little bit boring and go for number three again.
06:14OK.
06:17This is your last counter, Mick.
06:19Let's see if we can get some more money into the bank.
06:21When you're ready?
06:22OK.
06:23Release away.
06:28That's the one.
06:29Is that where you wanted it?
06:30No.
06:31Oh, that's exactly where I wanted it.
06:32That's good.
06:33That's good.
06:34Just needed to sit flat.
06:35Oh, it's riding!
06:36Ooh!
06:37Will that do anything at all?
06:39No, no, no, no!
06:42Oh, Mick.
06:44So, Mick, you've used up all of your counters.
06:46So, for the time being, you can no longer continue in this round.
06:50Emma, Kelly, Steve, here comes your next question.
06:53Sam Fares, James Argent and Lydia Bright,
06:56starring which ITV2 reality TV show?
07:02Emma.
07:04Towie?
07:05It is Towie.
07:06The only way is Essex.
07:07So, Emma, you've got nothing in your bank yet.
07:09And I'm so going for number three.
07:11You're going to go get number three.
07:12Because I want to steal all of Mick's ones.
07:14OK.
07:16Are you ready?
07:21Ooh.
07:22That's good, that's good.
07:23It's a quick, clean settle.
07:24Cool.
07:25Anything over the edge?
07:26Cool.
07:27That's two.
07:30There you go.
07:31Well done, you're off the mark.
07:32Two over the tipping point into the win zone.
07:34That's £100 to you, Emma.
07:36Steve, you've got nothing yet in the bank.
07:38Yeah, it's going well.
07:39But I've had a great day.
07:40Excellent.
07:41I've met some lovely people.
07:43You're not out yet.
07:44I am.
07:45Give yourself a chance.
07:46It can all turn on the drop of a counter.
07:47Trust me.
07:48Oh, don't.
07:49Let's go for your next question.
07:50In which English county is Longleat Safari Park?
07:54Kelly.
07:55Wiltshire.
07:56It is Wiltshire.
07:57Well done.
07:58Are you going to play or pass?
07:59I'm going to play.
08:00OK.
08:01Because our trusty number three is still looking like it could pay out a little bit.
08:04So, let's give it a go.
08:06OK.
08:08When you're ready.
08:13Wrong side.
08:14Wrong side for you.
08:15Yeah.
08:16Sitting on its rim.
08:17There's one there.
08:18Oh, and it's...
08:19Is it flat?
08:20It is riding.
08:21It's not quite flat, I'm afraid.
08:23You might do it.
08:24You might do it.
08:25Oh!
08:26Nothing.
08:27Next question.
08:28Steve, let's see if we can get you in on some action here.
08:30Thanks, Ben.
08:31You might get this.
08:33The word vixen is used to describe the female of which animal.
08:36Steve?
08:37Fox.
08:38You did get it.
08:39Well done.
08:41Where are you going to go, then, Steve?
08:42I'll play number three.
08:44When you're ready, release your counter.
08:50Oh!
08:51On the side.
08:52Come on!
08:55Is it flat?
08:56There you go.
08:57Flat, flat.
08:58Come on.
08:59Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on.
09:01Oh!
09:02No!
09:03Oh!
09:04No way!
09:05Why?
09:06Steve, that's another counter.
09:08Man.
09:09You're the only person yet to get anything in the bank.
09:11That's your thanks.
09:12You still have one counter left, though, as does Kelly, as does Emma.
09:15Next question.
09:16Sterling Moss is famous name in which...
09:19Steve.
09:20Motor racing.
09:21It is motor racing.
09:22So, Steve, are you going to play or pass?
09:24I'm going to pass it to Emma.
09:26Oh, thanks.
09:27So, Emma, you're going to have to use up one of your counters now.
09:29This could be quite tricky.
09:30Where are you going to play?
09:31I'm going to play number two, because it's the only one that looks like it's got anything
09:34on it.
09:35OK.
09:36When you're ready, Emma, you need to make this counter.
09:38Get some money into your bank.
09:40Away you go.
09:43Be good, be good, be good, be good, be good.
09:45That's not good.
09:46That's not helpful.
09:47That's gone right over to job zone one.
09:49Right on the side.
09:50Is it going to go?
09:51Oh!
09:52Grim death.
09:53No.
09:54No.
09:55I'm afraid, Emma.
09:56That was a very, very good pass, Steve.
09:58So, Emma, you've now used up all your counters.
10:00Yes.
10:01Kelly, Steve, this question's for you.
10:04Which TV family lived at 1313 Mockingbird Lane?
10:07The...
10:08The Addams Family.
10:10It's not.
10:11Ooh!
10:12It's the other ones, the Munsters.
10:15But by giving me a wrong answer, that's gone into the penalty pot.
10:19So, Steve, we steal your last counter.
10:21You've got no money, that's gone into the penalty pot.
10:23You'll all get to play for that shortly.
10:25Kelly, you have one counter left, so you've got one more question.
10:28Who wrote the 2002 novel The Lovely Bones?
10:32Oh...
10:38Have a guess?
10:39Lady.
10:40You're out of time, I'm afraid.
10:42It was Alice Sebold.
10:44So, I'm afraid you don't get to use your counter.
10:46That is going into the penalty pot as well.
10:49As it stands, Steve, you're currently in last place.
10:53Yep.
10:54But it's not over yet because of those last two incorrect answers,
10:57both those counters have gone into our penalty pot.
10:59You're all back in.
11:00I'm going to ask one last single question on the buzzer.
11:03Whoever gets it right wins the counters.
11:05If you buzz them with the wrong answer, you're out of the running.
11:08You really need to give me the correct answer to this, Steve.
11:10Yep.
11:11To have a chance of going through to the next round.
11:12Here we go.
11:14General elections in the UK are traditionally held on what mic?
11:18May.
11:20That's wrong, Mick.
11:21I was going to say what day of the week.
11:23It's Thursday.
11:24So Mick's out of the running.
11:25Emma, Kelly, Steve.
11:27Which is the only James Bond movie to feature the name of a country in its title?
11:31Emma.
11:32From Russia With Love.
11:33Well done.
11:34Yes!
11:35Sorry.
11:36You're going to be going home.
11:37Emma, you have two counters to put into the machine.
11:39Where are you going to start?
11:40I'm going to start with number one, I think.
11:41OK.
11:45Mum wants Bradley back.
11:47Stop.
11:48First time it's been used today.
11:50Will it be generous?
11:52Oh, yeah.
11:53No.
11:54Not just yet.
11:55Not this time.
11:56I've got another one.
11:57How about your second penalty pot counter?
11:59I think I'm going to go for number one, Ben.
12:00Really?
12:01Yeah.
12:02OK.
12:03I know the surprise.
12:04See if we can make it work this time, Emma.
12:05When you're ready, release your counter.
12:11Stop rolling.
12:12Come on.
12:13Central.
12:14This could be the one.
12:15Come on.
12:16There we go.
12:17Come on.
12:18Come on.
12:19Come on.
12:20Yes!
12:21Well done.
12:22Yes!
12:23Still going!
12:24Four over the tipping points.
12:26Well done.
12:27That's £200.
12:28We stick that into your bank, that's put you into the lead.
12:30At the end of round one, Emma has £300.
12:33Mick has £250.
12:34Kelly has £150.
12:36Steve, you've got absolutely nothing.
12:38Hooray!
12:39I'm afraid we've reached your tipping point.
12:41Thank you for playing.
12:42Thank you very much, Ben.
12:43Emma, Mick and Kelly are all one step nearer to our £10,000 jackpot.
12:47In round two, they will each face 30 seconds of questions.
12:50Each correct answer gives them a chance to earn some more cash.
12:54Once again, the player with the least amount of money at the end
12:56of this round will be leaving the game.
12:58Emma, you're in the lead after round one.
13:00Very well played indeed.
13:01You get a choice.
13:02Would you like to go first or would you like to make Mick or Kelly
13:05go first instead?
13:06Well, I've been looking at the board.
13:08I'd like to choose to go second, please.
13:11You'd like to go second?
13:13Yes.
13:14Who are you going to put into the chair?
13:15I'm going to put Kelly in the chair.
13:18Kelly, you're going to have 30 seconds to answer as many questions
13:21as you can.
13:22Every correct answer gets you a counter.
13:24You need to try and build up as much money as you possibly can,
13:27Kelly, to get through to the next round.
13:29Your 30 seconds starts now.
13:32Which element is represented on the periodic table by the symbol H?
13:35Hydrogen.
13:36Correct.
13:37Which British city includes areas called Anfield and Toxteth?

13:43Which former Conservative MP called her first novel
13:45A Parliamentary Affair?
13:46Edwina Currie.
13:47In which European city might you visit the Anne Frank House?
13:50Amsterdam.
13:51Correct.
13:52A game of badminton involves hitting what over a net with a racket?
13:55Shuttlecock.
13:56Correct.
13:57Which Hindu festival is also known as the Festival of Lights?

13:59Correct.
14:00Which major river runs through the capital cities of Vienna,
14:02Belgrade and Budapest?
14:05It was the Danube.
14:06It was the Danube.
14:07But you're out of time anyway.
14:08Having said that, five correct answers.
14:10That's five counters to put into the machine.
14:12Not too bad.
14:13So think carefully.
14:14Where do you want to go?
14:15Um...
14:16Let's go for number two, I think, to start with.
14:21Kelly, put your first one down when you're ready.
14:24Go on.
14:25Right.
14:26Right.
14:27Right.
14:28Right.
14:29Yeah, good place.
14:30Oh, don't just sit there.
14:31Let's get it down flat and clean.
14:32Come on.
14:33I'm going to be flat.
14:34Oh, it's flat.
14:35It's Emma's decision to pass this one.
14:37You're welcome.
14:38Am I going to love you or hate you?
14:40Are you going to go?
14:41Oh, no, no.
14:42Two flippers.
14:43Anything into the wind zone.
14:44Come on, guys.
14:45Yes!
14:46Excellent.
14:47Well done.
14:48Five counters over the tipping point.
14:49£250.
14:50Great start, Kelly.
14:51Brilliant.
14:52You still have four counters left to go.
14:53I'm going to stick with two just for the minute,
14:55because we've still got a bit of a teeter going on there.
14:57So, yeah.
14:58Two, please.
14:59Away you go.
15:04Oh, too far over.
15:05That's a very, very quick drop.
15:06Not sure about that one.
15:07Not sure about that one.
15:08Too far.
15:09Oh, oh, oh.
15:10You've got a couple.
15:11Yeah, but you're going right for that big pipe.
15:13Oh, yes!
15:14Oh, yes!
15:15Kelly, that's another seven over the tipping point.
15:18Another £350.
15:20Emma, Emma, Emma.
15:21I know.
15:22OK, Kelly, you've still got three counters left to put in.
15:25Number two, please, ma'am.
15:27Right.
15:28Go on.
15:29Oh, oh, oh.
15:30Not quite where I wanted it.
15:31That's not bad, though.
15:32Could be all right.
15:33I don't want it to be all right, but it could be all right.
15:34It's a glass.
15:35I'm liking your encouragement.
15:37You're welcome.
15:38Need it over that top shelf.
15:39Go on.
15:40Go on.
15:41Oh!
15:42Oh!
15:43Nothing for this one.
15:44OK, you've got two counters left to go.
15:45It's boring, I know, but it's number two again, I'm afraid.
15:46There you go.
15:47When you're ready, release away.
15:48Come on.
15:49Last drop.
15:50Looks good.
15:51Go on, go on, go on.
15:52Fast and clean.
15:53That's a very good one.
15:54No way!
15:55No way!
15:56It's going to go.
15:57Oh!
15:58Oh!
15:59Oh!
16:00Oh!
16:01The wrong time!
16:02When they fall, when the shelf's that deep, don't do any damage, I'm afraid, to the tipping
16:18point.
16:19Oh, does it?
16:20No.
16:21No.
16:22No.
16:23Oh!
16:24You've still got one counter left to go.
16:25Let's go for number two again.
16:27For your last counter.
16:29Last time.
16:30Number two.
16:31It's ready for you, Kelly.
16:32And you are.
16:33Go on, left-hand side, left-hand side, left-hand side.
16:36No, you're not far enough.
16:37Over!
16:38Oh!
16:39Oh!
16:40Oh!
16:41Drop that.
16:42Yeah, you should be okay.
16:43Anything over the tipping point?
16:45Oh!
16:46Yes!
16:47Woo!
16:48That's a great round.
16:49It's still going as well.
16:50Those other ones may fall.
16:51Stay!
16:52Stay!
16:53Oh, yes!
16:54All right!
16:55Still in play.
16:56Go on, go on!
16:57And another one.
16:58Goodness me!
16:59On your last shove of the shelf.
17:01Ten more over the tipping point.
17:03That's another £500.
17:04Oh, yes!
17:05You now sit very proudly in the lead.
17:07£1,250.
17:08Very well done indeed.
17:10Emma!
17:11That could have been a big mistake.
17:13You've got another choice, though.
17:14You can put Mick into play, or maybe you'd like to take control of the machine.
17:17I'm going to control the machine.
17:19I think.
17:20Having given all that money to Katie, let's see if you can do some damage.
17:23Good luck.

18:03I'm going to start in an interesting twist of events on number one.
18:07We're going to go for drop zone one.
18:09So, when you're ready, let's put the first of your five counters into the machine.
18:19I don't know if that's going to be good enough.
18:21Could have done with it going a bit further over to the end, couldn't we?
18:23Yeah.
18:24Absolutely.
18:25At least it's flat.
18:27What sort of damage can it do?
18:28Come on.
18:29Anything going on the edge?
18:30Do some damage.
18:31Do some damage.
18:32Oh!
18:33Is it going to go this time?
18:34Don't do it.
18:35Oh!
18:36Oh!
18:37Benny!
18:38You got one.
18:39It's surfed over the tipping point, Emma.
18:4050 pounds into the win zone.
18:41That's going to go into your bank.
18:42Well done.
18:43So, where do you want to go next?
18:44I think I'll go with number one, Ben, please.
18:46Okay.
18:47Let's do that.
18:48When you're ready.
18:53It's good.
18:54Oh!
18:55That'll do.
18:56That's good.
18:57That's good.
18:58Go on.
18:59There you go.
19:00Go on.
19:01Oh!
19:02Not again.
19:03Oh!
19:04Oh!
19:05Oh!
19:06Oh!
19:07Well done.
19:08It wasn't the one we were expecting to go over the edge.
19:09No.
19:10Four have gone over the tipping point.
19:11That's another 200 pounds.
19:12Okay.
19:13Can you stay with one?
19:14Yeah.
19:15I think so.
19:16When you're ready, Emma, release your next counter.
19:18No.
19:19That might not.
19:20Not what I wanted.
19:21Get anything over the edge?
19:22It has.
19:23Go on.
19:24Go on.
19:25Be good.
19:26Go on.
19:27Another one.
19:28One's okay.
19:29That's another 50 pounds over the tipping point.
19:31They're stacking up along the edge there, aren't they, Emma?
19:32Yeah.
19:33Two more counters for you, Emma.
19:34We're going with number one.
19:35Let's have number one again.
19:36Let's have number one again.
19:37Release your next counter.
19:38To the right.
19:39To the right.
19:40To the right.
19:41Stay to the right.
19:42It's not rolling.
19:43How rude.
19:44No, not this time.
19:45No.
19:46Not this time.
19:47Nothing's going to fall just yet, is it?
19:48No.
19:49So, you've got one last counter, Emma.
19:50Where are you going to go?
19:51We're going to stick with one.
19:52Okay.
19:53It's going to be my friend this time.
19:54Aren't you, Gwen?
19:55Are you ready?
19:56Release your final counter.
19:57That's better.
19:58That's where all I'm talking about.
19:59Speedy drop.
20:00Anything.
20:01Come on.
20:02Come on.
20:03Come on.
20:04Come on.
20:05Come on.
20:06Come on.
20:07Come on.
20:08Come on.
20:09Come on.
20:10Come on.
20:11Come on.
20:12Come on.
20:13Come on.
20:14Come on.
20:15Come on.
20:16Come on.
20:17Come on.
20:18Come on.
20:19Come on.
20:20Anything over the tipping point.
20:21Come on.
20:22Come on.
20:23Come on.
20:24Oh, no.
20:25Joking.
20:26So unlucky, Emma.
20:27Thanks, Mick.
20:28They're staying just where they are.
20:30So, Emma, you had five counters you put into the machine.
20:33You managed to get six out, which is another £300.
20:35You put that into your bank.
20:37Not too bad.
20:38You've got £600.
20:39So, Mick, like a rose between two thorns.
20:42There you are.
20:43What can I say, eh?
20:45Okay.
20:46You're going to have 30 seconds.
20:47Remember every correct answer.
20:48You give me gives you a counter to put into the machine.
20:51Okay.
20:52The time starts now.

21:22Correct.
21:23Who scored the so-called Hand of God goal?
21:25Diego and Maradona.
21:26Oh, just out of time, Mick.
21:28You've got four counters.
21:29You need at least seven to draw a level.
21:32So, where are you going to go, Mick?
21:34Uh, I'm going to try to drop zone three.
21:37First one down when you're ready.
21:44No!
21:45You take a flat one.
21:47Let's take a flat one.
21:48Get something towards the edge.
21:49Ooh!
21:50The overhangs can build nicely.
21:52Yeah.
21:53Three again?
21:54I think so, yeah.
21:55It's going to have to be, yeah.
21:57When you're ready.
21:59The right place is still on, hopefully.
22:04Come on, baby.
22:06Come on.
22:07There you go.
22:08One!
22:09Two flippers.
22:10One.
22:11Oh!
22:12Yes!
22:13Get in there!
22:14Six over the tipping point.
22:15With that counter, Mick, that's another £300.
22:18You're just the one counter behind Emma now.
22:21You've got two left to put into the machine.
22:24Okay.
22:25Drop zone three, please.
22:26Okay.
22:27Ready, Mick?
22:29Emma's looking very nervous.
22:30Drop away.
22:35Oh!
22:36Wrong side.
22:37If it gets a direct hit...
22:40There you go.
22:41There you go.
22:42This could be good.
22:43Another three, Mick.
22:45Sorry.
22:46Man.
22:47Three into the win zone.
22:48That's £150.
22:49£450.
22:50That does mean that you've pulled ahead of Emma.
22:52I'm afraid, Emma, you're going to be going home.
22:53Mick, you still have one last counter to put into the machine.
22:57Drop zone three, please.
22:58When you're ready, Mick, release your last counter.
23:07Go on.
23:08Nice.
23:09Settle nicely.
23:10Oh!
23:11Settle nicely.
23:12Yeah, it's looking good.
23:13Come on.
23:14Come on, baby.
23:15A good firm shove.
23:16Yeah, go on.
23:17Yep, yep.
23:18Big old shove.
23:19Go on.
23:20Go on, shove him.
23:21Go on!
23:22Another two.
23:23Another £100 over the tipping point.
23:24Lovely.
23:25Lovely.
23:26£550 in total goes into your bank.
23:29So, at the end of that round, Kelly has £1,250.
23:32Mick is in second place with £800.
23:34Emma, you have £600.
23:36I'm afraid we've found your tipping point.
23:37Thank you for playing.
23:38Thank you, Ben.
23:39So, going into this round, Kelly has £1,250.
23:42Mick has £800.
23:44It can all change very quickly, though.
23:47I'm going to ask you six questions which will alternate between you, three questions each.
23:51On your question, you can either try and answer it, or you can pass it to your opponent to answer.
23:55If you get a question right, you get a chance to play the machine, and you can get some money out of it.
24:00If you get the answer wrong, your opponent will take your turn.
24:04Whoever has the most money at the end of this round will be going through to play for today's £10,000 jackpot.
24:10Kelly, you're in the lead. You've got £1,250, so it's up to you.
24:14Would you like to face the machine and take the first question, or would you like to give Mick the honour?
24:19I think, Mick, you can go first. Thank you.
24:22That's all right.
24:23OK, then, Mick, you get the first question.
24:25OK.
24:26Remember, you don't have to answer it. You can pass it back to Kelly if you don't know the answer.
24:29OK.
24:30Here we go.
24:34Tracey Island featured in which Gerry Anderson TV series?
24:39Thunderbirds.
24:40Is the answer Thunderbirds?
24:41Yes, it was Tracey Island.
24:45So, Mick, you get the first chance to play the machine.
24:48OK.
24:49Where are you going to go?
24:50Er, drop zone two, please, Ben.
24:54Drop zone two for your first counter.
24:56When you're ready, Mick, release away.
25:03I'd rather it was over the other side, but it might not be two.
25:06If you get a decent shove.
25:07Yeah, there's a lot of space around it.
25:09On you go.
25:11It's not going to go, is it?
25:13No, they look very, very steady.
25:15So, Kelly, your question now.
25:16Here we go.
25:19In which Andrew Lloyd Webber musical do all the acts perform on roller skates?
25:25Starlight Express.
25:27You seem pretty confident about that one.
25:28Yes.
25:29Starlight Express.
25:30Let's find out.
25:31Is Starlight Express the correct answer?
25:34It is.
25:35It is.
25:36Right, then.
25:37Can you extend that lead of yours?
25:39I think I might go one.
25:41OK.
25:43Drop zone one for you, Kelly.
25:45When you're ready, release your counter.
25:46Lefto, Ross.
25:47Oh, yeah, yeah.
25:48That's better.
25:49It listened to you, clearly.
25:50It did.
25:52It rolled towards the side you wanted.
25:53Are you going to get any purchase on the overhangs?
25:54That's a good one.
25:55Go on, go on.
25:56There you go.
25:57Go on.
25:58That's two sitting flat.
25:59These ones just here.
26:00Yes!
26:01That could be devastating.
26:02Ten counters over the tipping points.
26:03That'll do for me.
26:04That's another £500 into your bank.
26:05The last thing that Mick needed.
26:06You still have two questions to go, and you could steal some of Kelly's as well, Mick, so not lost just yet.
26:23Your next question.
26:31I think it's five.
26:32OK.
26:33If this is right, you get a counter to put in the machine.
26:36If it's wrong, Kelly gets your turn.
26:39Is the answer five?
26:43Six.
26:44It was six, Mick.
26:46OK, so, Kelly, a bonus counter for you.
26:48Where are you thinking of playing it?
26:50Hmm.
26:51Erm...
26:52Drop zone three, please, Ben.
26:54Release your counter when you're ready.
26:56Right.
26:57Go on.
26:58Stay, stay, stay.
26:59Oh, no, not quite.
27:01That final bounce took it a little bit more central, didn't it?
27:04Mm.
27:05Flat.
27:06It's nice and flat.
27:07You could get some good purchase on the ones in front.
27:08Go on, go on, go on, go on.
27:09Need to get it over the edge.
27:10Go on, go on, go on.
27:11Oh, that's frustrating.
27:13Frustrating.
27:14Frustrating, but that was a bonus counter, of course.
27:16OK, Kelly, your second question now.
27:19OK.
27:20In the 2010 film The King's Speech, which king was portrayed by Colin Firth?
27:26Oh...
27:28Oh.
27:29You don't have to answer Kelly.
27:30Have a look at Mick.
27:32Would he know the answer to this one?
27:34I think he would.
27:35So, you're going to have a go at it?
27:37King George.
27:38You need to be a bit more specific.
27:40There's been quite a few King Georges over the years.
27:43OK.
27:44King George the...
27:46Second.
27:49OK.
27:50We're going to go for King George the Second.
27:52It wasn't George the Second, did you know, Mick?
27:56Didn't have a clue.
27:57Ah!
27:58It was King George the Sixth.
27:59OK.
28:00It's a good thing she didn't pass it.
28:01Oh, absolutely, yeah.
28:02As it is, she got it wrong.
28:03So, here you go, Mick.
28:04Let's see if we can take advantage of that.
28:05Where are you going to go?
28:06I think we'll go for number three again, please.
28:08Because there's one hanging right over the edge.
28:14Away you go.
28:19Do you need to start catching up?
28:20No.
28:22No.
28:23Is that going to do any damage?
28:24No.
28:25Nothing.
28:26Oh, Mick.
28:27The good news is, even though you haven't got nothing there,
28:30the next question is yours.
28:31OK.
28:32Your third and final question, Mick.
28:34Really, really need a correct answer.
28:38Which of the Bronte sisters wrote Jane Eyre?
28:42You don't have to answer, Mick, but would Kelly know?
28:46I think she probably would.
28:48But I'm going to pass it to her anyway.
28:50So, Mick's not sure, Kelly.
28:52Do you know?
28:53Erm...
28:55I'm going to go Emily Bronte.
28:56You think it was Emily?
28:57Yeah.
28:58Was it Emily Bronte who wrote Jane Eyre?
29:02It was Charlotte.
29:03It was Charlotte.
29:04It was Charlotte.
29:05Mick, well played.
29:06Right.
29:07Let's make this one count.
29:08I need to.
29:10Where are you going?
29:11I think number three again, please.
29:14Release your counter when you're ready.
29:19Could be your last one, Mick, so we need to do some damage.
29:22No!
29:23Come on.
29:24There you go.
29:25Two have flipped.
29:27What have we got?
29:28One.
29:30Not finished yet.
29:32£50.
29:33Over the tipping point.
29:35That's a lot of hard work for £50.
29:38I want 13.
29:39We stick that £50 into your bank, Mick.
29:43£850.
29:44You've still got a chance.
29:45Kelly has one last question.
29:47If she gets it wrong, you'll get to put this counter into the machine.
29:51Kelly, if you get it right, you're going through.
29:56What is the star sign of a person born on Christmas Day?
30:01Er, it is a Capricorn.
30:06If it is Capricorn, you've got the right answer,
30:07you're definitely going through to play for £10,000.
30:09If you're wrong, Mick, you've got one last chance.
30:12Is the answer Capricorn?
30:15It is.
30:16Yes, thank God.
30:17Well done, Kelly.
30:18So, it's your last counter.
30:19Let's see if we can get some money into the winning zone.
30:20Where are you going to go?
30:21I'm going to stick with drop zone three, please, Ben.
30:22OK.
30:23She's ready.
30:24So, release when you are.
30:25Quite where I wanted it, but it'll be all right.
30:28Good purchase on the ones in front of them, don't we?
30:30Try and shove it over the top shelf.
30:31Over that way a little bit, really.
30:32Go!
30:33That's just not going to do very much, though, is it?
30:37Another counter over the tipping point into the win zone.
30:38So, that's another £50 for you, Kelly.
30:39Put that into your bank.
30:40So, at the end of that round, Kelly has £1,800.
30:42Mick, I'm afraid with £850, we've found your tipping point.
30:43Thank you for playing.
30:44OK.
30:45No problem.
30:46Thank you for playing.
30:47OK.
30:48No problem.
30:56So, very well done, Kelly.
30:57You've made it through to our jackpot finale.
30:58Woo-hoo!
30:59How are you feeling?
31:00I'm feeling quite amazed, actually.
31:01Kelly here has thrashed her rivals and is now about to play for £10,000.
31:06You've made it look very easy.
31:07You've made it look very easy, right?
31:08I'm going to play for the win zone.
31:09I'm going to play for the win zone.
31:10I'm going to play for the win zone.
31:11I'm going to play for the win zone.
31:12I'm going to play for the win zone.
31:13So, that's another £50 for you, Kelly.
31:14And put that into your bank.
31:15So, at the end of that round, Kelly has £1,800.
31:17Mick, I'm afraid with £850, we've found your tipping point.
31:19Thank you for playing.
31:20OK.
31:21Kelly here has thrashed her rivals and is now about to play for £10,000.
31:25You've made it look very easy so far.
31:26Oh, it didn't feel easy.
31:28You've done a brilliant, brilliant job.
31:29You currently have £1,800, but now you're going to go for today's jackpot counter.
31:34In a few moments, I'm going to be asking you to put that gold jackpot counter into our machine.
31:39Quite simply, if you want to leave £10,000 richer, you just have to get it out again.
31:43And this is how you're going to do it.
31:45I'm going to ask you six questions each on a given subject.
31:48For each subject, you can choose to have either one, two or three goes at the machine.
31:52The more counters you play for, the harder your questions are going to be.
31:55But the more goes you win, the easier it's going to be to get the jackpot counter out.
32:00If you don't succeed, you will get £50 for every counter that falls for you during this endgame.
32:05But, Kelly, we want you to leave with £10,000.
32:08That'd be nice.
32:09We need to do the first and most important thing, which is release the jackpot counter.
32:12So you need to choose where you want to put it.
32:15Let's go for drop zone number one, please, Ben.
32:17OK.
32:18When you're ready, release the jackpot counter.
32:25In the middle, in the middle's good.
32:27That's all right.
32:28Now, anything that drops from now on into the win zone goes into your bank.
32:34So how about we take another £100 over the tipping point?
32:39That's a good start.
32:40It is a good start.
32:41£100 goes into your bank.
32:43That's now sitting at £1,900.
32:45OK, should we have a look at today's six endgame subjects?
32:47Yes.
32:48So here they are.
32:49Animation, horse racing, boy bands, geography, newspapers, or comedy double acts.
32:58Any of those you like?
32:59Boy bands.
33:00Boy bands?
33:01You're a fan of boy bands?
33:02Yeah, I'm a fan of boy bands.
33:03OK.
33:04Any of the others?
33:05Possibly the comedy double acts might not be too bad.
33:08OK, so look, we've got some strong subjects.
33:10Boy bands could be good, comedy double acts.
33:12Yeah.
33:13We need to find where you're going to start.
33:14Can I go newspapers for one, please?
33:17OK, we'll go newspapers for one counter, please.
33:20Which of these tabloid newspapers does not have a red nameplate?
33:27Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, Daily Star.
33:30Do you read any of them?
33:32Erm, yeah, I do.
33:34OK.
33:35So hopefully you've got an idea.
33:37I'm going to go Daily Mail as not having a red nameplate.
33:41OK.
33:42If it is the Daily Mail, then we've got our first counter to put into the machine.
33:45Is the answer the Daily Mail?
33:48It is the Daily Mail.
33:51OK, so let's start.
33:52Where are we going to put that first counter?
33:54Drop zone one?
33:55Yes, please.
33:56OK.
33:57When you're ready, release your first counter.
34:04Stay, stay.
34:05Oh, wrong side.
34:06It looked like it was going to fall right behind it, didn't it?
34:08Yeah.
34:09Let's get this down nice and flat and see if we can get up.
34:11Oh, I don't think that's flat either.
34:13Oh, that was a rubbish start.
34:16Not necessarily what we wanted.
34:18No.
34:19Not the end of the world, though.
34:20Not the end of the world.
34:21You've still got five categories left.
34:22OK.
34:23Where do you want to go next?
34:24Oh, let's go for...
34:26Ooh.
34:28Geography for two.
34:30Take a gamble with geography for two counters, please.
34:33Let's have a look at your geography question.
34:35In which English county is the town of Totnes?
34:40Devon, Lincolnshire or Staffordshire?
34:43Erm, I'm going to go for Devon.
34:46All right.
34:47We're feeling confident about Devon.
34:49Yes.
34:50If you're right, we've got two more counters to get that jackpot moving.
34:53Is that the right answer?
34:57It is.
34:58Yes.
34:59So, we've got two counters to put into the machine.
35:01Would you like to go drop zone one?
35:02Yes, please.
35:03OK.
35:05When you're ready, let's release the first of these two counters.
35:11Wrong side.
35:12Roll, roll, roll, roll.
35:13Roll, roll, roll, roll.
35:16Ah.
35:17Oh.
35:18Shift it a touch.
35:19Oh, don't, London.
35:20Oh, it's flat.
35:21It might kind of go...
35:22Edge it towards the middle of the two, which isn't necessarily great.
35:25Ugh.
35:26Not necessarily great.
35:27No.
35:28However, we've got another counter to drop in.
35:30Drop zone one.
35:31Drop zone one, please.
35:32OK.
35:34When you're ready, Kelly, release your second counter.
35:39Go on, go on, go on.
35:40Ground and...
35:41Get across.
35:43They're not falling kindly right now, are they?
35:45No.
35:49Could get something over the lip, though.
35:50Let's get something over the shelf.
35:52Maybe get some money into your bank.
35:54Gonna go.
35:55Ooh.
35:57Nothing there.
35:59OK.
36:00Where do you want to go next?
36:01I'm going to go animation two, please.
36:04OK.
36:05We'll have an animation question for two counters, please.
36:08Here we are.
36:09Which comedian provides the voice of Genie in the 1992 Disney film,
36:14Aladdin?
36:16Bill Murray, Chris Rock or Robin Williams?
36:18It's one of my favourite Disney films.
36:19Is it?
36:20Yeah.
36:21I love it.
36:22So, I'm going to go with Robin Williams.
36:23OK.
36:24Is that the correct answer?
36:27Yes.
36:28Of course it is.
36:29Well done.
36:30Where are you going to go?
36:31Let's go for number drop zone two, I think, to start with.
36:36Release your counter when you're ready.
36:40Go on.
36:41That way, please.
36:42Listen to me.
36:43Go on, go there.
36:44It looked like it was going to get there as well.
36:45I could still push.
36:46You could get something over the tipping point.
36:47It's pushed it that way a bit more, though.
36:49You got a bit of lateral movement, didn't you?
36:51Yeah.
36:52But nothing particularly dramatic.
36:54OK.
36:55You've got one more to put in.
36:57Let's go back to one.
36:58Sure.
36:59Drop zone one, please.
37:00OK.
37:01You could do with some movement on that jackpot counter now.
37:04Kelly, when you're ready.
37:08Go, go, go.
37:09Stay.
37:10No, no.
37:11Go flat.
37:12It's thrown itself out.
37:13Well, get those.
37:14A few off.
37:15Four over the top.
37:16It's cleared the way slightly for the jackpot.
37:20Four over the tipping point.
37:21That's another £200.
37:22That goes into your bank.
37:24£2,100.
37:25Not too bad.
37:26Not too bad.
37:27We've got three categories left.
37:29Maximum of nine counters.
37:31Where would you like to go next?
37:32Horse racing for two, please.
37:34OK.
37:35Horse racing for two counters, please.
37:39Who famously rode all seven winners in one day's racing at Ascot in 1996?
37:52I've never heard of AP McCoy.
37:53Right.
37:54I've heard of Richard Dunwoody, I think.
37:56OK.
37:57So, I'm going to go with the one I know, which is Frankie Dottori, please.
38:02OK.
38:03Is the answer Frankie Dottori?
38:08It is!
38:09Oh, thank God!
38:10Good old Frankie boy.
38:11Yes.
38:12Right, two counters.
38:13Thanks to Frankie boy.
38:14We'll go for drop zone two, please, then.
38:15OK.
38:17When you're ready, release your counter.
38:22Go on.
38:23Be good.
38:24Be good.
38:25Whoa.
38:26Keep going in the wrong place.
38:27Completely the wrong side.
38:29That's gone though.
38:30Are we going to clear any out?
38:31Not too much there though, isn't there really?
38:32It's quite a...
38:33No.
38:34...bare part of the machine.
38:35Right.
38:36We've got one more counter here.
38:37Are you going to stick with drop zone two?
38:39Oh, let's go back to drop zone one and give it another bash, thank you.
38:42OK.
38:43When you're ready.
38:49Oh, finally.
38:50Oh, are you going flattened?
38:51Let's get some decent movement here.
38:55No.
38:56Surely they've got to go.
38:57That's harsh.
38:59That's really, really, really tough.
39:02OK.
39:03Boy bands or comedy double acts?
39:06Let's go comedy double acts for three, please.
39:09We've got to go for it now, haven't we?
39:10We're going to go for it now.
39:11Comedy double acts for three.
39:15What was Eric Morecambe's real surname?
39:19Bartholomew, Mackenzie or Winterton?
39:24I see my parents really shouting at the screen right now,
39:26going, you should know this.
39:29This is really a guess.
39:32I'm going to go for Winterton, please.
39:35OK.
39:36Let's go for Winterton, please.
39:37Is Eric Morecambe's real surname?
39:41Winterton.
39:45No!
39:47Bartholomew.
39:48What is Bartholomew?
39:49Eric Bartholomew.
39:50I probably should have kept that.
39:52That sounds very posh.
39:53Great name.
39:54OK, so look, we've got your last category.
39:56You're a big boy band fan.
39:57Yes.
39:58Boy Bands for three.
39:59Boy Bands for three.
40:01She's all over the boy bands.
40:03As of 2012, which of these boy bands has had the most UK number one singles?
40:11Boy Zone, Take That or Westlife?
40:16Which of those is your favourite?
40:18Me personally?
40:19Mm-hm.
40:20Take that all the way.
40:21Take that, right.
40:22Take that all the way.
40:23Um, oh, but I don't think it's them.
40:26OK.
40:27They do all right in the albums, but I don't think they're...
40:29I don't think singles.
40:31I'm going to go Westlife.
40:32Yeah?
40:33Yeah.
40:34Is the answer Westlife?
40:37It is!
40:38Oh, thank God for that.
40:4014 number ones.
40:41Are they really?
40:42You're absolutely right.
40:43Take that, 11.
40:44But you knew that.
40:45Yeah.
40:46Right, so we've got three counters.
40:48Oh.
40:49Three chances to try and get some serious movement on the jackpot.
40:52Drop Zone one.
40:53Right, yes.
40:54Drop Zone one.
40:56When you're ready, release away.
41:03One, two.
41:04That way.
41:05No, wrong side.
41:06Oh.
41:07Oh.
41:09In slow motion.
41:10It did.
41:11Those ghost drops, they play havoc with your nerves.
41:14Let's get something over the edge.
41:15It's not even going to do very much.
41:16Let's get some money.
41:17It's not even going to do very much.
41:18Let's get some money.
41:19No.
41:20Oh, shocking.
41:21Nothing, nothing.
41:22Still got two left.
41:23I'm going to sit with Drop Zone one, I think, definitely.
41:25Okay.
41:27When you're ready, release away.
41:30Come on.
41:32Oh.
41:33There we go.
41:34Bitter.
41:35There we go.
41:36Finally.
41:37Go on, you can do it.
41:38Bounce around a bit now.
41:39Just sit clean.
41:40Yep.
41:41This could send it over with enough movement.
41:43I don't think those should go.
41:44Go on, go on, go on.
41:45Go on, go on, go on.
41:46Yes.
41:47Right, let's have a decent shove.
41:48Have some money too, please.
41:49Oh.
41:50Oh.
41:51Mean.
41:54You've got one last counter.
41:56I think that's going to have to take some going to get that over,
41:58but we're going to go Drop Zone one, please.
42:00Okay.
42:01Are you ready, Kelly?
42:02Release your last counter.
42:03Oh.
42:04Oh.
42:05Oh.
42:06Oh, no.
42:07That's where we wanted it to go, but...
42:08I don't think there's enough there.
42:09Is there going to be enough movement?
42:10We just need it to push, push, push, push, push.
42:11Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on.
42:12Yeah.
42:13Oh, go on.
42:14Now, we'll have some money now.
42:15Another three over the tipping point.
42:16That's another £150, Kelly.
42:17Your bank is sitting at £2,250, but it's not all over.
42:21I'm going to give you one last chance to leave £10,000 richer.
42:27As things stand, you can leave right now with £2,250, or you can trade that money for three final
42:50goes in the hope of winning the jackpot.
42:53Everything else in the machine, if you take the trade, will be worthless,
42:55so you'll be leaving with £10,000 or nothing.
42:58So you need to think very carefully.
43:00Will three more counters get that over the tipping point?
43:04I'm normally a risk-taker, and you see all these shows, and they go,
43:08oh, yeah, I came with nothing, I'll go home with nothing,
43:10but that's going to get me a really nice holiday.
43:13And as boring as it might seem, and everyone's probably shouting at the TV going,
43:18go on, do it, do it.
43:20I'm going to take the money. Thank you, Ben.
43:22OK, well done, Kelly. You've been a superstar.
43:24Kelly's going to take the money. Congratulations.
43:26We're absolutely delighted for you.
43:28You're leaving today with £2,250. Congratulations.
43:30Thank you, that'll do nicely.
43:31You're going to have a fantastic holiday.
43:33Join us next time when the fate of four more players
43:35will hang in the balance on Tipping Point.
43:37Goodbye.
43:38APPLAUSE
43:39Thank you
