00:00A team from the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment under the Pilot Programme for Climate Resilience in Zambia, PPCR Project,
00:08has visited Luanja Ward in one district to inspect a four hectares piece of land allocated to the Luanja Malt Purpose Cooperative
00:16to implement the one million kwacha agricultural project to fight the effect of climate change while improving the living standard of community members.
00:25The Ministry has come up with a facility of 10 million kwacha and five provinces were selected to participate in benefiting from this facility
00:38and for each province there were initially five districts that were identified, they went through some capacity building,
00:45two districts were picked out as the beneficiary district on a pilot basis and that is Mwandi and Skongo.
00:57Mwandi District Administration has welcomed the initiative.
01:00This project will have one industrial commercial program that is going to feed into fish points,
01:11then from there irrigation of crops such as tomato, carpets.
01:17The people that are going to benefit from here, not only a local one, but the entire district will benefit from here.
01:24So as me as an earlier councillor, I'm going to work hand in hand with this cooperative.
01:33The cooperative has thanked government for the opportunity.
01:36We are not going to let down the government, but we are going to do our best so that we achieve the goals,
01:44the intentions and the needs of this project so that our lives can be changed to a higher level.
01:51Once implemented, more than 1,000 community members are expected to directly benefit from the project.
