00:00The Lamphilpat Water Body Rejuvenation Project in Imphal is a major initiative aimed at tackling urban flooding, water scarcity and promoting tourism.
00:11With a budget of Rs. 650 crores, the project spans 300 acres and will store 124 million cubic meters of water,
00:21enough to supply portable water to over 4 lakh residents through the Public Health Engineering Department.
00:27It was a wetland also. And now you can see we are using our CSD cataclysmic deserts and we are going to depth up to 9 meters
00:39and we will cover its lake area around 245 acres. And now we have already covered 162 acres around.
00:48And so now you can see the water is coming.
00:53In addition to water management, the project also dedicates 140 acres for a state-of-the-art recreation center,
01:02which will be linked to the Imphal View Tower at Cherao Ching via a proposed cable car system.
01:07The state government, with the aim to revive and, you know, rejuvenate this water body,
01:16we conceptualize a project for this, a rejuvenation project.
01:20The basic aim of the project is to maintain, one is to increase the storage,
01:25and the second is to increase the ethanation potential of the water body.
01:30We also include another important objective, which is to increase the ecotourism potential of the Lamphalpat area.
01:39Currently, around 60% of the dredging work at the Lamphalpat water body has been completed,
01:46with construction progressing rapidly.
01:48We have achieved around 60% of project work.
01:52And we expected the completion of this project in the month of October or November.
01:58Once completed, this ambitious integrated flood risk management project will not only shield the Imphal Valley from devastating floods,
02:08but also transform Lamphalpat into a premier ecotourism destination and a key pillar of water security in Manipur.
02:16Restoration of a lake here will enhance tourism and will also develop the ecosystem of that area.
02:29I guess it is a good step by the government of Manipur.
02:32I mean, I feel amazing because it encourages tourism in our Imphal area.
02:36And of course, there has been such a beautiful scenery because of that development.
02:40And we can see the water that has been dried up from, I mean, a few, I think a few years, that is being rejuvenated.
02:48And that is also the reason why people are being encouraged to tour more in our Imphal area.
02:54The Lamphalpat water body rejuvenation project stands as a testament to Manipur's steady march toward progress and sustainable development.
