Zimbabwe needs to reclaim forests threatened by agriculture and mining. Climate activist Takudzwa Ashley Mlambo is on a mission to mobilize people to plant 1 billion trees by 2030.
00:00Since 2019, we have managed to plant just over 2 million trees.
00:29We have also trained youngsters in tree propagation techniques from primary and secondary schools.
00:49We have also trained farmers and also corporates.
00:53They have come to us and we have been training them in landscaping and other various conservation practices.
01:08We can achieve these results especially if we come together.
01:12This is not something which can be done by one person.
01:15We have to be in partnership, we have to find collaborations not just locally but also regionally in East Africa and also globally
01:25so that we can integrate ourselves with the development of new technologies, innovative ways to address these pressing issues in terms of land degradation, drought and desertification.
