00:00Hello, my name is Amber Allett and I'm a journalist specialising in education.
00:04For secondary school pupils up and down Scotland, Results Day is finally here.
00:09Now they can find out how they did in their exams, as well as which national, higher and advanced higher qualifications they managed to earn.
00:17The Scottish Qualifications Authority, or SQA, has shared some key figures about how this year's exam takers feared.
00:25Here are a few of them.
00:26Scotland's National Exam Board says that 2025 was a landmark year of achievement for the 147,000 young people who have just received their results.
00:38The overall rate of learners earning A to C grades has increased at all three qualification levels.
00:44Interestingly, the poverty-related attainment gap between students from wealthier and more deprived backgrounds has also narrowed at all three levels, SQA says.
00:53More young people appear to be taking their hires too, with this year seeing over 200,000 higher entries for the first time since Curriculum for Excellence Qualifications were introduced in 2014.
01:05The total number of skills-based vocational and technical qualifications has also hit a record high, passing 100,000 for the first time ever.
01:14Today is also going to be the last results day for SQA after three decades.
01:20It will be replaced by a new body called Qualifications Scotland as of December.
