00:24:41seem to be terrified by trees lakes the forest and things that go bump in the night
00:24:47and we want you to tap into that primal fear by creating an original look based on the theme
00:24:53and present it on our brand new stage
00:25:02your look can be campy gory terrifying modern or primeval but regardless of whatever direction you
00:25:09choose you need to make sure that we can clearly see your unique style of drag represented in your final look

00:30:02I think it was around from 2007.
00:30:04It was great.
00:30:05It had a plot twist, and it was just an overall fun experience to watch, so
00:30:08I really wanted to recreate that, but have an actual monster.
00:30:12The materials I'm using are neoprene,
00:30:15and I'm using wire around the hat
00:30:17to make it form the shape of, you know,
00:30:21the nipple of a mushroom.
00:30:24I am paying hummus to the fungus.
00:30:27Did this bitch really say hummus, like the dip?
00:30:30I did.
00:30:33My inspiration is a forest ranger
00:30:35that is a figure of authority and works for the box.
00:30:40I decided for this look, I'm gonna have giant,
00:30:43centipede arms using these floated things
00:30:48that you used to in pool and fake leather
00:30:53to make it shiny, because I like things horrifying,
00:30:56but I like the touch of elegance.
00:30:59So I'm really confident about it,
00:31:02and you're gonna love it.
00:31:05My look for this challenge is inspired by the dumb bimbos
00:31:08that die first in horror movies,
00:31:09but this one actually makes it to the end.
00:31:12I just wanna have a dramatic death,
00:31:13and someone, I was sleeping next to a campfire,
00:31:17and someone came in and started attacking me
00:31:19with my leftover marshmallows,
00:31:22and then I'm running through the woods
00:31:24trying to make it to safety.
00:31:26I think it's really important
00:31:27to bring a little humor to Dragula,
00:31:29because not everything has to be white contacts and scary.
00:31:34So my inspiration for Terror in the Woods
00:31:36is the true terror that's coming at us
00:31:38through the backwoods of America right now,
00:31:39and that's the puritanical beliefs
00:31:41that still control our country today.
00:31:43So I am using actual mud that I dug up
00:31:48out of my backyard in Atlanta, Georgia,
00:31:50mixed in with some cocoa to distress my costume
00:31:53and make it look like this guy rose from the grave.
00:31:56I'm stoked for this week's challenge.
00:31:58I'm really excited about this character I've created.
00:32:01I just hope that the story reads.
00:32:04For floor show Terror in the Woods,
00:32:07I'm doing a traditional Chinese fox demon
00:32:10from ancient folklores.
00:32:12Right now, I'm tangling her up with vines and moss
00:32:16to give her more wood forest elements.
00:32:19I always bring my culture in everything I do,
00:32:22my makeup, my styling, my costume, my fashion.
00:32:25I come from such a rich, beautiful culture,
00:32:28and I have to represent it.
00:32:30I have to show the world how much I love where I come from.
00:32:35For Terror in the Woods this week,
00:32:36I'm fighting for my fucking life,
00:32:38quite literally and in the look itself.
00:32:40I'm not particularly gruesome, I'm not spooky,
00:32:44but what I always will be is dumb as hell.
00:32:46So I thought, what would be the stupidest way to die?
00:32:50And that would be in the woods, cooking s'mores,
00:32:52and everything just sort of dumps on you.
00:32:54And now he's literally sizzling alive
00:32:57because of the stupid marshmallows.

00:33:58I've seen them both working on their marshmallow looks, and I can guarantee that one marshmallow look is better than the other.

00:36:32From crafting, to sewing, to makeup artistry, hair design, and costume creation, these drag
00:36:39artists must use all of their artistic skills to create award-winning looks, but also present
00:36:45their new looks on the main stage with charisma, stage presence, and performance skills.
00:36:51To be a success in the world of drag, looks are only half the battle, so how our stars perform
00:36:56live may sometimes make the difference between life and death.

00:43:58You know, one person I'm really excited about is Fantasia.
00:44:01She is an icon and a legendary performer and I can't wait to see what she does here.

00:45:20I think of Throb as like very punk, at least from what we know of them so far.

00:45:57And she brought it.

00:45:58Someone that I think didn't bring it surprisingly, as hard as I thought they might, was Jarvis.

00:46:11And I just, I just couldn't.
00:46:12It's an Asperger beach party challenge, but you show up as an anglerfish.

00:47:16floor shows and our advice on how we feel you can evolve, grow, and take your art to the

00:48:18Well, the first thing I noticed looking at you is obviously your arms, and I could really
00:48:24see this as a character just terrifying people in, like, a dead-by-daylight situation.
00:48:29Historically, masks and club kid boots can be, they can be almost suicidal on the show,
00:48:34but you pulled it off.
00:48:35Thanks.
00:48:35I love the character.
00:48:37It's certainly intriguing.
00:48:39I just question a little bit about the woods, terror in the woods.
00:48:44All right.
00:48:44But I'm definitely blown away by your talent.
00:48:47I like that you use these metallic elements that you would not typically think of when you
00:48:51think of the woods.
00:48:53I like the kind of story you're telling.
00:48:54I don't totally know what it is, but I like it, and I want to know more about it.

00:48:58What I got from this is the insect world, and I do think a lot of people think about
00:49:04and fear insects when they think about being outdoors.
00:49:07I felt like this look was an invitation into a very singular, strange world.
00:49:13I enjoyed every minute of it.
00:49:16I don't see what's so horrific about, like, a freshly cleaned garment.
00:49:21There's nothing terrifying about a freshly pressed coat.
00:49:24Moving on to Blackberry.
00:49:26You are sexy.
00:49:29You are as hot as those marshmallows.
00:49:33I love your look.
00:49:35I feel very inspired.
00:49:36There's something that's really taking me in with your look.
00:49:41Blackberry, the look is fun.
00:49:42Everything about it says camp, camp, camp.
00:49:46And then when you turned around and I saw that your wig was built around the pillow,
00:49:50I was completely sold.
00:49:51I think you did a great job.

00:49:57And I like that you brought your style of drag to the challenge.

00:50:39Where I struggled was that I was trying to find something to be scared of.
00:50:44Trying to find something that gave me the terror part of the terror in the woods.

00:50:50Like, you're sexy and I'm excited to see what you bring.
00:50:53I think, too, I was missing the horror from the look.
00:50:56This is like the first episode, so this is your chance to bring it your best.

00:51:38As a fit for this challenge, it doesn't quite resonate with me.
00:51:42I would like to hear a little bit about the backstory,
00:51:45perhaps.
00:51:46The story about my character is a beautiful woman
00:51:48who was cursed by a witch because she was a little too beautiful.
00:51:53And so she was banished to the woods for all eternity
00:51:56in order to feed her twin,
00:52:00any unfortunate individual, mostly men.
00:52:05I don't get it.
00:52:06You shouldn't need a degree to understand a drag look.
00:52:09Love the puppet, though.
00:52:10I wish maybe I was able to sort of get that from the look,
00:52:16but you look fantastic.
00:52:17You look beautiful.

00:52:21The silhouette and the big shoulders, the reveal, the skirt.

00:53:19For me, this is the caliber that I want to see when I think about Dragula.
00:53:24This look has you written all over it, and I commend you for that.

00:53:34so I was impressed with the way you carried yourself on stage.

00:54:29I would have liked to see a little more refinement in the execution.

00:54:46The problem I might have was that you did buy things that were sort of store-bought,
