00:01This is a job interview from hell.
00:04First prize, you get to work for me.
00:07Second prize, don't exist.
00:09From across the country,
00:1115 of Britain's brightest business prospects have come to London.
00:15Pressure. That's what business is all about.
00:18Pressure. Are you tough enough to put up with it?
00:21They're here to compete for a job with a six-figure salary,
00:25working for Britain's most belligerent boss.
00:28You ever open your mouth like that again
00:30and don't even bother to come back in this boardroom?
00:33Do you understand me?
00:35Famously hard to please,
00:37Sir Alan Sugar controls a vast business empire.
00:41Once again, he's on the hunt for an apprentice.
00:45You didn't sell, you didn't sell and you didn't sell.
00:48Order book. Zero.
00:50What the hell's gone wrong here?
00:52Come on, ladies and gentlemen.
00:54To land their dream job...
00:56What are we going to do? We're going to win!
00:58Yes, chef!
00:59The candidates need to work as teams.
01:01I'm going to have this fight.
01:02You want to see me at bars? I'm going to give you bars right now.
01:04We are screwed.
01:05But shine as individuals.
01:08Stop shouting at me.
01:09You're giving me a headache.
01:11We were looking at complete press.
01:13Because in the end, there's only one job.
01:16You're fired. You're fired.
01:17A total mess.
01:19You're fired.
01:27Previously on The Apprentice...

01:35The challenge, advertise a box of cereal with an original cartoon character.
01:42Oh, my God!
01:45Kimberley's team created superhero Pants Man.
01:49What's that?
01:50You like the shape of an Easter egg?
01:52While Kate's team flew with Captain Squawk.
01:55A boulder, that's the pirate makes the world.
01:59Philip and Lorraine constantly clashed.
02:02I'm okay with it, but not overly okay.
02:05Well, it's a bit late in the D&O.
02:06We're going to be off for suggestions.
02:07Guys, guys, guys.
02:08And Kimberley lost control of Mona.
02:10You either want my constructive criticism or you don't.
02:13You're sitting there and going, tsss, tsss, and I've had enough.
02:16Kate's crew presented a box of treasure.
02:20That is awesome.
02:22I really like the box.
02:23I think you've done a very good job.
02:25And sail to victory.
02:29Leaving Kimberley green with envy.
02:32You know where it would have stood out, don't you?
02:34It would have stood out if it was on the fertiliser shelf or the cat food.
02:37That's where it would have stood out, you're fired.
02:40And the fifth casualty of the boardroom.
02:44Now ten remain to fight for the chance to become the apprentice.

03:07West London in half an hour.
03:08West London in half an hour.
03:13West London in half an hour.
03:25West London in half an hour.
03:28West London in half an hour.
03:44Summoned to meet Sir Alan, the ten remaining candidates head west to an auctioneer's warehouse in Chiswick.
03:50good morning well as you can see we're here at chiswick auction house and in this place people
04:18come to have their products valued and sold the task this week is all about selling with a little
04:28twist to it i've got both teams the same collection of items some old some new your job is to make sure
04:37you know what each of them are worth and then go out and sell them now just a word of warning don't
04:44take everything at face value now i'm going to mix the teams up a little bit kate i'd like you to go
04:51over there to ignite and neural i'd like you to come over here to empire and the team leader for
04:57ignite is going to be philip and the team leader of empire is going to be you ben the team that comes
05:05back with the highest amount of sales will win and the team that doesn't will lose and in that team
05:11one of you will be fired you've got one day's trading so i want you back by six o'clock tonight
05:17on the dot with the money you've made
05:19okay everything clear yes sir alan well good luck off you go
05:25knowing the value of something is key to getting the best price
05:35and sir alan expects them to find it out
05:39i've given them 10 items to be honest i don't expect them to sell all of them
05:44it's more important that the ones they do sell are sold for the right price and the right value
05:50no way
05:52he likes chelsea
05:54both teams have a back room at the auction house to value their items
05:58oh what the hell is that i think some might be red herring yeah
06:04oh look at the chair oh wow it's a toilet chair
06:08it's a bog yeah it's an old-fashioned toilet chair
06:11what it's a little bit wobbly phil
06:13it's a skillet don't yank it too much what are you talking about howard
06:17among the junk some valuable items like a pair of vintage shoes
06:22an indian rug worth over 200 pounds and in a box of books of first edition
06:34it's very important that you know the fair value of everything that you're selling
06:37you need to do that project manager for the first time 22 year old ben clark
06:42remember that this is this is a real bordering stuff it's you know street sales it is it's quite
06:48it's quite a rugged sport to be honest yeah i am a natural born leader sandhurst clearly saw that
06:54in me and that's why i got an army scholarship and under those situations where i am under extreme
07:00pressure ie heavy gunfire explosions going off around me people getting injured that's when i can
07:06bring a team together that's when i can lead get a yellow pages out please and phone a couple of
07:11fishmongers and get some estimates for jelly deals please how much is one of those skeletons worth
07:17new i've got the quote 159.95 plus that that's the cheapest range very good work very good work
07:27on the other team project manager philip wants last week's infighting out of the way you know it's
07:32really important that we get our heads down on this one and get a result because we've had a bit of a
07:35tough ride especially the last task um mayor lorraine we've sort of picked out as slightly irrational in
07:41our thought process and we would speak to people so i'll say bye big head's going to rein it in a
07:45little bit and uh if i'm being a jerk tell us and i'll try to listen so it's all good so we just need
07:50to get fired up and get all the stuff sold you know what we need to do as well now we're starting
07:54to get evaluations we need to start keeping a running totals yeah yeah basically the name on
07:59it is langley g despite his plea for unity there's immediate disagreement lorraine seriously wasting time
08:06that rug it's not very old i've seen the back of it it's pristine it just might be well looked after
08:16hang on it's nylon lorraine is completely erratic she's volatile um for instance there she's looking
08:26at a carpet that's probably made about five years ago and she's looking through an antiques book trying
08:29to identify with the persian rug that's the sort of things that you know gets me back up but i've just
08:33got to you know try and resist that a little bit more and just try and get along okay right let's
08:38let's start packing everything up guys because we want to get on ben splits his troops skeleton is
08:44coming with myself deborah and three keen to lead from the front he's taking seven items
08:51and arming the rest of his squad with three yeah nothing that you want us to take so it seems like
08:56there's a board and one two three four six seven you're taking seven items we're taking
09:00hello i wonder if you could this is sort of stuff that sellies really quickly in a market
09:04where it's very simple right everybody hands on deck myself mona and lorraine have taken the
09:10antiquities to a valuer splitting his team philip divides the items equally how would and kate
09:17are going to take the more contemporary items the books and the shoes and the jelly deals and the bike
09:23with eight hours to go before they must be back in the boardroom
09:27they're off
09:32pretty tough task yeah the hardest part is trying to establish what the correct retail price yeah what
09:39you're trying to sell is because you need to get selling as quickly as possible so you could spend
09:42all day researching but there's a few things you'll find out what the selling price is who buys it
09:48where those people are it's quite a lot to do in a day
09:57convinced the skeleton has the highest value
10:02philip's first stop a dealer in old curiosities
10:05let's see if we can sell a skeleton
10:12hello hello sorry this is the rain how are you
10:15what do you think yeah how are you the skeleton's amazing isn't it it is it's a little beauty have
10:20you ever sold something like this before no no it's not the kind of thing that we would we would
10:26sell purely because it's just too new i don't know where you'd actually go with that would you
10:30there's shops near universities aren't there you know where these things turn up right you know
10:35the medical colleges thank you so much
10:42david bailey photography is is it in uh is it in foreign it's signed me and it's in english
10:50needing to get his books valued ben leads an assault on dealers in charing cross road
10:55world famous for putting value on the printed word charing crossroads experts are used to sorting
11:17the gems from the junk i don't know i'd have to check that but they can't be rushed
11:23have a look there's some more writing further on right on each character
11:31is that something you'd be interested in
11:37i think we're gonna have to ask um to leave
11:56it's not going to be worth a huge amount even with uh i mean it's
12:09sort of 10 pounds at the most at the absolute most in that
12:14a couple of valuations and nothing sold ben beats a retreat
12:20we can't we can't take any more from no but you know what they're like they're the book people
12:23they want to waste your time i'm fed up of these book people talking to me for too long
12:30i would have preferred to be project manager on a couple of the other tasks but this is
12:34this is a horrible grotty task to get involved as pm and very very difficult to sell stuff
12:41right okay the plan is i think the skeleton is going to be the one that makes us the most money
12:47effectively or somewhere around there so i think it's important that we get down to
12:51king's college school of medicine over the road the ship some shops that sell medical equipment
12:55second high medical equipment shooter there is while philip is hooked on the skeleton lorraine is
13:00convinced the rug has real value can we just make a phone call to clarify that we do have the spec on it
13:06it's an eight by eight circular nylon rug produced in the last yeah i mean that's that's what it is
13:11so you can't just phone a place and say i've got a rug that's this how much is it worth what we need
13:16to concentrate on the skeleton you know try and heed some of my advice because you're ignoring what i'm
13:19seeing and it's just lorraine i kind of grasp her you know the way she thinks the way she's referring
13:25to some of the items it's a real struggle working alongside it and just everything that comes out
13:28the mouth is just it's bollocks i just thought that you know it could be a one-off believing
13:35valuations are costing time ben's new plan of attack just sell we're not going to let them waste our
13:44time this time okay hi there i'm ben clark i understand that you specialize in kind of first
13:50edition we do especially james bond books oh do you really brilliant be keen to hear your
13:56recommendation of what you would buy it at um we'd probably pay in the region of 80 pounds to 100
14:02pounds sell it for about 120 150 that sort of thing wow if you can make a decision on i think 100
14:09pounds is really the lowest we could go to as a group would you be happy to to go ahead and take on
14:15that well 100 pounds that's fantastic thank you very much thank you very much okay brilliant
14:28bloody skeleton
14:34spotted by philip opposite the hospital
14:37oh let's see if we can sell a skeleton an opportunity is that a pub there isn't it
14:45we're gonna go outside in the hall if there's other doctors having a lunchtime drink yeah good idea come on
14:56good afternoon guys are you guys doctors or junior doctors or
15:00no we have to play doctors i'm sure anybody interested in buying a skeleton
15:14no anybody interested in buying a skeleton
15:17how much how much how much we're talking now that's good we're looking if you had to give you two
15:25quid right now thank you cheers what's this normal retail this is something like you should
15:33it know 150 quid to 300 pounds 150 cash what we're 165 cash you got a deal 160 cash you got it yep
15:46good man good man thank you very much cheers thank you
15:52that's it how we're talking they're very lucky they managed to sell their skeleton they found someone in
15:57a bar who'd actually wanted one all his life he said that was luck but it did show them that
16:03if you go in and try to sell things then maybe you'll succeed
16:11at a market in london's east end the other half of philip's team
16:16anyone interested in buying a bike anyone to buy some riding boots some riding boots size four riding
16:22boots anyone interested in buying a bike it's a deal it's a deal thank you very much cheers
16:28thank you have a good day peace he's got hunger in his eyes
16:31hungry in his eyes yeah he wants the sale i want the sale look at the hunger in the eyes i want the sale
16:37i don't know i don't think so you've got a very hungry eyes i don't think so okay we'll make it here
16:44pretty quick oh thank you very much pleasure doing business with you james and yasmina are under orders
16:52from ben to flog their three items directly to retailers first up a poster of frank lampard
17:0140 quid and we've got a deal i've got 35 in my pocket i'll give it to you now 40 quid come on we've
17:06i've come down from 80. 40 quid yeah all right you've got a deal thank you very much my man
17:14next in a bucket of fast melting ice eight kilos of jelly deals
17:19how much you're selling for 50 quid no because we've got enough at the moment but if you're
17:25really trouble when you come back i might decide to have them off you if they're cheap i'll tell you
17:30what let's just do it well potentially if we could give them to you now 30 quid for two bowls
17:35um they're fresh in the back of our van yeah okay yeah quite now all right all right thank you very
17:41much thanks very much cheers ron alas i'll get it somewhere yes okay now we need to do our damned
17:49hardest on this rug thing worth over 200 pounds the indian rug is the most valuable item on sir alan's list
17:57convinced it's just tat philip takes his to an east end street market
18:10right let's go to a road guide
18:19do you mean you said you didn't buy me a rug sorry would you like to buy a rug it's a beautiful rug
18:25eight by eight it doesn't go down much further philip this must be one of the most stupid
18:43activities they have yet engaged in i'm just wondering if you can buy a big rug
18:48okay okay no i've continually brought up the fact that we haven't valued the rug all day and
18:57um the response has predominantly been it's a piece of shite so i'm pretty confused about whether it's
19:04a gem or whether it's a piece of shite i think we need to go somewhere where it's quite high end
19:08how do you think basically i've got a a polymer skeleton um that i want to sell um it is pristine
19:26condition um it's um you know sort of an off-white in color would you be interested
19:31norrell's found a taker for the skeleton cheers thank you you know what i'm so impressed by
19:36you've been able to get a meeting for the skeleton even in death he's got a meeting and there is a
19:41price that he's willing to pay at least neural what skeleton's lost his head right just get the
19:47whole torso out oh no wait it's okay it just slots in neural's even checked its value over 150 pounds
19:55i'm deborah it's nice to meet you hi what do you think yeah it is it's in the market condition
20:05it's brand new would you be interested well i'm a student i haven't got a lot of money
20:11could you be interested in giving me a good price as a purchase you know we would
20:17purchase out something around about 159.99 plus vat i'm a student i really you know this is what you
20:22come to you come to a student what's the best price that you can what's the best price that you
20:25can 50 quid really i mean okay well
20:34i think we're agreed that sort of 50 is going to be a bit lower and we appreciate that you're
20:38a student because i was only a student over a year ago you know it's got it's spring looted on the jaw
20:42and stuff like that can i can right i tell you what can we do it at 60 will we do it at 60 deal done at
20:4960. okay have you got the cash on it i can go and get it all right okay okay it's all there thank you
20:59very much pleasure doing business with you fantastic 3 15 p.m over there afghan carpets persian
21:10yasmina and james try north london's rug shops design is okay but the price is very high i can't sell it
21:18okay don't waste your time in this area i know what you want to buy
21:24edward road carpets we need to get out it's quite a nice rug yeah it's
21:29it's how does how does that fit in your price range at the moment
21:32this rug here for this store i think it's just a bit too expensive another dead end
21:37still stuck with his rug philip's off to hawk it door to door let's see what we can do down there
21:54yeah okay 10 minutes down the road we've got nothing to lose like that and then we'll just go for broke
22:03absolutely not there's not something you need that's fine thank you very much thank you thank you
22:07you very much 60 quid and it's yours no i don't need it really don't need it no problem thank you for
22:13your time thank you very much for your time bye bye bye bye bye i'm speechless that rug was the most
22:23expensive item that they had they've completely ignored its true value apart from the rain all day
22:29and now they'll be lucky if we get 10 pounds for it the way they're going on
22:43two hours to go with five items left to sell ben can't find a taker for the commode
22:51we'll try and sell it as a vintage accessory as opposed to actually what it is it's a chair that you
22:58shit in it's not exactly very pleasant is it i'm basically a new rule please sweet yes spot you on the
23:05phone yeah hi well i'm not really interested thank you based on on what i difficult to sell i haven't
23:14got any clients for those sorts of chairs if you were to buy it i must say it's very unusual to have
23:19three slightly dressed people asking me if i want to buy a commode chair if we can't shift it up
23:25there would you agree to take it off us for a fiver i'll give you a fiver to go away if you can't
23:29if you can't get six pounds off it okay all right okay thank you very much um i don't know if i'd be
23:37able to meet your valuation to be honest thank you very much thank you do you think we should try and
23:42offer him money to take it no bollocks
23:51hi ben hi there ben calls for reinforcements get rid of the rug and then come over to the market okay
23:59but i don't think we're going to have time to meet up with you guys so do you not think you'll sell that
24:02rug in the next two hours i reckon we should just stick to the plan that we've got and if we get
24:07rid of it then obviously we're going to come and help you out they're just trying to get out of this
24:10what let's all just work together on this then and you try and sell what you sell we'll try and
24:15sell what we sell whoever has extra time will sell whatever's left yeah sounds like a good idea right
24:19okay we'll see you soon guys all right bye all right she's just a bit destructive isn't she
24:25what are they coming her tone of voice suggests that we're sitting around doing nothing no i know
24:31how is that other team only selling bloody eels and a frank lampard thing it's not going to take
24:38two hours to sell a rug they just don't want to come and meet us and take the responsibility of
24:41trying to help us sell the rest of the stuff just doing what they want dotting around london
24:45and going to six different locations they're all right i'm not going to have any complaining in the team
24:5155 minutes to go greenwich market that's what we're going to do we're going to sell our bloody
25:01hearts out now after lugging them round all day it's ben's last chance to offload his remaining
25:08five items we'll just do a sundry lot for a quid of crap including the vintage shoes worth over 100
25:16pounds they're old if you'll buy dirty monkey shoes like that i think what we can try and
25:21do is find some absolute nutcase and sell it all to him for a quid
25:27they're treating the whole thing as a sort of a flog off really will any of you take them off me for
25:32a pound all the shoes i think it's about time to start getting a grip on this ben
25:38if you'd be so kind otherwise you're going to start panicking and with just cause
25:43what are you feeling 20 20 and we'll do the dogs for 20 yeah should we try and black some of this
25:48stuff over there i think ben's is starting to panic a little bit this is crap
25:55i think we brought too much products on ourselves but you know the fact that the other team had
26:00three items and then we took on the rest seven um yeah it should have been maybe a six four split at
26:06least it's a pain in the arms go around go around go around
26:2135 minutes to go
26:25philip has still got his rug if we get if we get to find out if we can go in that pub and stand outside
26:31the station for a couple of minutes and then the station okay let's go not feeling particularly
26:37good uh kind of shift the rug i cannot believe i can't tell a rug it's just
26:43we're stuck with it unfortunately i think um we've got about half an hour to try and shift it but
26:47i think we're dead in the water i suggest we start walking back and just keep our eyes peeled on the way
26:52back just keep your eyes peeled james yeah yeah you do that side i'll do this side
26:56i'll do this side and yasmina has still got hers we got given it and we need to sell it for as much
27:04money as we possibly can i haven't got the client help to buy them
27:11do you know what yes hold that i'm gonna go and run up there all right
27:14all right those two lads did say there was one up there right but oh i hate this carpet
27:33look what about that what's that what is that i mean but would you be able to sell this would you
27:39have a customer be interested at some point yes yeah so it'd be worth something to you
27:44yeah yeah worth uh how much did you see 50 pounds even would you stretch as far as 55
27:52when you throw in a free bag 55 it's a good bargain for you okay 55 okay okay all right
28:01thank you mama thank you very much welcome
28:03we're gonna be late getting back and i'll have to be careful look just get back into the car and you
28:15know excuse me sir do you be interested in buying a rug how much to you i'll give you a hundred quid
28:23what color is it blue no it's got beautiful reds and ochres all the business what is this some sort
28:29of joke no it's a real deal i just need to sell inside right now you're 50 make it 70 quid
28:35so i need i get it going right now it's pretty one blue 50 quid 50 quid and you can pretend it's blue
28:41that price i'll take it because i can see it's brand new yep that's it brand new good condition yes
28:51and i can live with the color well as long as i don't drink too much let's shake on it buddy let's
28:56check on it you're a good man you're a good man that's it that's it oh thank you okay
29:11that was the uh gem i'm doing that was the german pack oh yeah yeah yeah
29:16obviously shot of the rugs it's back to the boardroom must be honest for me i thought the rug
29:31and the shoes were an attraction i don't know somebody told me about that rug all right
29:38i did actually say it very early on this morning you never feel the disappointment you turn around
29:43now now have you know how tough it's been you've hardly mentioned the road here we've equally
29:47tried to sell it just as hard and now all of a sudden you realize it oh maybe that was the one
29:50you're going yes well i said that from day one well you didn't i'm not saying what i would have said
29:54lorraine was you know something i think we missed a trick on that road i think we missed a trick on
29:58that road that's all i said
30:12so alan will see you now
30:27so alan will see you now
30:42good afternoon
30:53very interesting task one not as some of you may have thought to do with selling but more to do with
31:01valuation there is some devil in the detail there because some of those products were worth more than
31:07than what you thought a bit like me really not much to look at but worth quite a bit
31:13okay ben good team leader yeah did a good job yeah you can nod your head it's okay the skeleton's gone
31:23thank god tell me how you went about your value evaluation process what actually happened is most
31:27people sort of were naturally drawn towards items interested them for example like this lab went
31:32straight for the football this guy went straight to the skeleton i went straight for the fish and ben
31:37ended up at the uh the commode actually he did i did i discovered that it was a commode
31:43come out hmm tired today i'm absolutely exhausted yeah oh never mind do i get the feeling that you didn't like this task was it too tough for you
31:56um too challenging i have to say it's probably the hardest task we've come up against yeah well i did
32:01tell you they get harder yeah start using your brains a little yeah well i was i was prepared for whatever
32:06task you were going to throw at me it was one of those days that was actually quite stressful and
32:11things weren't going our way all the time we weren't getting the sales out hmm okay ignite good team
32:17leader yeah yes good team leader lorraine yeah he was we'd be yeah he was quite good yeah got your
32:24differences sorted out from last week then yeah totally totally professional completely moved on
32:29tell me about how you went about valuing things what we did initially was we did have a book there and
32:33we had a quick whiz through it um what there a book there was an antique book with the guy that was
32:37car i'm having difficulty in understanding your durham accent sorry you slow down a little bit
32:42anybody else do a bit of an evaluation at all i looked at the rug and um it was kind of um shouted
32:50out of the park that it was kind of a rubbish item did you relay that to your team i did yeah and what
32:55did your team say i have to be honest i was really aware in this task of not upsetting everybody from my
33:01previous task you know i'm trying to be when your previous task turned out right yes but i am very
33:07aware that i don't want to come across as a troublemaker in the team i mean i don't know i mean
33:10i've got great instinct you know i think a lot of what i say is disregarded i have to say i think you're
33:15the cassandra of the team frankly do you know what that means you get it right and nobody else listens
33:23they don't believe you yeah listen don't get intimidated lorraine right i want to know why
33:32you didn't take any notice of her to be honest i didn't think the rig was particularly attractive
33:37i think it would have been very difficult to shift but you're not an expert i'm not an expert i'm not
33:40an expert sir i'm but she'd she'd come up with it she'd sussed it out won't you take any notice
33:44because i own a personal opinion yep maybe i thought i knew better and i didn't think we're worth it
33:48what i'm hearing here is one of your team members has actually come up with something
33:53and no one's taken any notice
33:59i'll just restate to you that it was up to you to find out what the individual items were worth
34:04and the way i'm judging this really is going to look at what you sold them for
34:09compared to what they're worth and that will come out with either a profit or a loss
34:14margaret well ignite sold some items for more than their value and on those they made a profit of 96
34:23pounds but they undersold two items most notably the rug so their final result was a net loss of 34
34:31pounds nick same thing for empire rather a different story for ben's team they made a profit on some
34:39items totaling 78 pounds and a loss of 242 pounds giving a thumping net loss of 169 pounds
34:51philip as far as you lot are concerned you you've won
34:58what are you smiling for the loss is a loss
35:03philip i i really do hope that you are signing on to what i'm trying to say to you because
35:09your mind seems like concrete to me like thoroughly mixed but set in its ways
35:14i think i went along with her since last last time so on i took her on board what you said
35:17it's not what it's not what margaret thinks anyway you're going to go a long way now because your
35:21treat you may have trouble identifying this because your treat is truffle tasting and that's not
35:28chocolates as you know off you go thank you sir
35:38you go off come back here you might need that bleeding commode one of you is going to get fired
36:04to the jelly deals
36:16jelly deals and cassandra
36:22good evening ladies and gentlemen if you would like to take your seats at the table your meal is
36:26about to be served
36:32oh wow truffle lobster i've always wanted this to happen to me i always wanted this to happen to me
36:38when i lift it off thank goodness this is i've always wanted this to happen
36:41oh wow wow cloud the truffle that is amazing that is the nicest cut of beef oh there must be quite
36:50a difference between cheap wine and that because that is just like really smooth cheers i think no
36:57one deserves this more than lorraine for putting up with cassandra another day of me cassandra
37:13well one thing i'm going to say before we get into this is i don't want everybody slating each other
37:20everybody knows i put up the biggest scrap in the boardroom i've absolutely no problem in doing that
37:25again today and i have absolutely no intention of going home today i'll be very interested to see
37:32where sir alan points us to a portion blame because there's you know there's a couple of things that
37:39might come up that i can think of but other than that but what um well we'll just see what he says
37:46you know i don't know who should be fired but it's not going to be me
37:55that's not going to be me
38:13sir alan's ready for you now
38:25Let's recap what this task is about.
38:42First of all, anybody with half a brain cell would think to themselves,
38:47let's sit down and work out definitively where the gems are,
38:51and when we've identified what the gems are in this pile of stuff,
38:55let's put all our efforts onto selling them.
38:58Why didn't that happen?
39:03You're all looking at me dumbfounded.
39:05Anybody got to say anything about that?
39:07Did you understand what it was about?
39:09Yes, I am.
39:10So therefore you understand that the reason you lost
39:13is because the items you did sell that you were supposed to have valued,
39:17you sold them tremendously under the cost.
39:19Ben, do you think it was a good idea just to sell at any price
39:22rather than not sell it at all?
39:24At one point, yeah, I was just thinking, you know,
39:27we don't want to become a home with stocks,
39:29and I thought better to at least have offloaded it,
39:31and that's sort of the route that we went on.
39:34The fact here is that you've all miserably fouled
39:37in identifying the price of the product,
39:40and I think you got defocused and went off the rail
39:43and thought that it was most important to sell them at any price.
39:49You thought I was going to be jumping up and down here.
39:51If you came back, they're all sold.
39:55You valued the skeleton, right?
39:57Yeah.
39:58I tell you what,
39:58the bleeding skeleton can have done a better job than the lot of you.
40:02You got it valued at the right price.
40:04What do you sell it for at that ridiculous price?
40:06It probably wasn't go at all
40:08until Ben stepped in and closed the deal.
40:10But I disagree with the fact that you say that Ben closed the deal,
40:13and I was in conversation...
40:14I'm sure of it.
40:15I was in conversation with...
40:16Well, who closed the deal? You or him?
40:18I was in conversation with the student...
40:19Ben, who closed the deal? You or him?
40:21I said, would you take 60 quid?
40:22I just stepped in to get the job done.
40:24The money did exchange in my hands at the end.
40:26Well, maybe it did, but he closed the deal.
40:27What was you, the cashier?
40:28Well, no, because, you know,
40:29the fact that we didn't have a clear strategy to say,
40:32right, it's going to go for that price, nothing less than that.
40:34It was a case of get rid of it as much as it's worth.
40:38Well, who said it's a case of get rid of it as much as it's worth?
40:40You know, that was coming from the team leader.
40:42They're kind of pointing the finger at you, then, really.
40:47Deborah, what on earth went wrong in this task?
40:50I think it was the fact that there was ten items,
40:52and we had seven in our van, and the other sub-team had three.
40:55It would have made everyone's life easier if we had 50% each way.
40:59Everyone would have had more time to identify
41:00what was actually valuable and what was not.
41:02That's my personal opinion on yesterday.
41:04And I think Ben's slightly naive to the fact
41:06that he gave himself a very, very big mountain to climb
41:09and maybe gave you guys a slightly smaller mountain to climb.
41:11OK, you're making the same point over and over again.
41:13Now, what I would say, Deborah, is that I wasn't in your team, OK?
41:17So I can't... I don't know what I would have done
41:18had I realised that perhaps you had more goods than we did, right?
41:22But you knew. We're seven years old.
41:23But I don't know what I'd have done in your position.
41:25Hopefully, I'd like to think that I would have got on
41:26with valuing those goods and selling them as best I could,
41:29rather than causing negativity between the three of you.
41:31Well, with all your respect, I've sold more than anyone on this team.
41:34So don't take that as a personal insult,
41:35but I sold more than you and James combined for the whole day, OK?
41:38So before you turn around and say...
41:40You're quite selfish within the group, Deborah.
41:42I didn't cause any rift in my group at all.
41:44Well...
41:44That's cos I didn't let you.
41:46Well, Ben, that's your take on it.
41:47I sold more than you and James combined for the whole day, OK?
41:50Well, I think that Ben was involved in the books.
41:53How can you say that?
41:54When I called in the morning and picked the buyer,
41:56told him where to go, and then...
41:57When the deal is done.
41:59He wasn't even...
41:59Ben wasn't even...
42:01Was Ben there?
42:01He was next to me.
42:02He didn't say a word about the price on the James Bond book.
42:04I opened the discussion on the James Bond book.
42:06How can you say that when I...
42:07Would it be reasonable for you to claim some of the credit for those sales?
42:10I think it would be reasonable.
42:11Nick, how can you say that?
42:13How can you say that?
42:14Did she close the deal or not?
42:14She just got stuck right in, sort of, while I was mid-speech with the guy.
42:18No, no, no.
42:18I got stuck right in and sold it, Ben.
42:19Don't turn around and say I didn't because it's a fact and I did.
42:22You know I did.
42:23I sold 130 quid that day, mate,
42:25and your other sub-team only sold 130 between them.
42:27So don't you dare come and attack me when I did what you asked me to do.
42:30Deborah, hold on a second.
42:30We were...
42:31You left it in a box and didn't even look at it.
42:33We were talking about...
42:33You didn't call any book antique dealers to identify its value.
42:37Can you not throw...
42:38No, because Ben, you're trying to claim glory for something.
42:40You didn't even bloody look at.
42:41I'm not trying to claim glory.
42:42I'm just agreeing with the point that Nick made.
42:43I'm not saying you weren't involved in it, but you did not close the deal.
42:45But you're disagreeing with Nick.
42:46It's closing the deal that matters.
42:48You can't turn around and say to me that the work I did investigating the books
42:52didn't end up paying off in finance.
42:52Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me.
42:54You find another way to express yourself.
42:57Stop talking to him like he's a second-class citizen, OK?
43:01I don't mean to.
43:01Do you understand?
43:02Do you understand me?
43:03Yes.
43:04Yeah.
43:04You talk to me and get your points over to me.
43:07Don't talk to him in that manner.
43:09Am I clear?
43:10Yeah.
43:11What about you, James?
43:12What have you got to say?
43:13Are you sitting there keeping quiet?
43:15No, I'm not sorry.
43:17Because you're thinking that the least you say, the least trouble you're getting into.
43:19All I was going to say was between myself and Yasmin, I think we did a good job.
43:22Did what you was asked to do.
43:23Did you find out whether they had seven items to sell and you got three?
43:27You must have realised that.
43:27We knew that.
43:28We actually knew that before and that's what I said earlier.
43:29Was you phoning up, asking out if we could help out or anything like that?
43:33No.
43:33We rung to see how things were going, but we did actually...
43:35Strategically, what we did is cross-pass all day with products that you could have had
43:39and been selling along the way and products we could have had.
43:40Never at once were we in a similar space.
43:42There was no strategy behind where we were sitting.
43:44We were supposed to do that, but we knew it so we could see what you're coming.
43:46I know, but also when...
43:46Ben, Ben, who are you bringing back into this boardroom?
43:50I think that, you know, when you look at who's going to get fired,
43:58you always consider the bigger picture and how people have performed throughout the entire competition.
44:03So when I do bring...
44:04Listen, excuse me.
44:05Isn't that my position to judge that?
44:07I'll pick up on people of how they've performed so far in this six weeks, yeah?
44:11Yes, sir.
44:12This task failed.
44:14Why and who's responsible?
44:17OK, sir.
44:17Yeah.
44:20I think I'm going to bring back Neural, and I think I'm also going to bring back James.
44:33James?
44:34What?
44:35Sorry.
44:36And I'm thinking, because I don't know exactly what he contributed, then again,
44:41I'm also torn between James and Deborah, and I think...
44:45So, why are you going to bring me back?
44:47You can bring me in, mate, because I'm well up for it.
44:48You can take me in here if you want, and we can see and explain about this task.
44:51That was one mistake.
44:52If you don't want to...
44:53Why are you picking on him, Fod?
44:55I'm going to bring Deborah.
44:57Go for it.
44:57I'm going to bring Neural and Deborah.
44:59I was struggling to identify exactly what James had done.
45:02I hope you're bringing in people for the right reasons, you know?
45:05No, no, certainly not.
45:06I hope you're not thinking, like, you know, about James,
45:08like there might be a village missing an idiot somewhere,
45:10and that's why you're bringing him in.
45:13Certainly not.
45:13I was just, at that very moment in time,
45:16I was struggling to think of exactly what he'd done during the day.
45:19Who are you bringing in?
45:20I'm bringing in Neural and Deborah.
45:22Right.
45:23You two, go back to the penthouse, OK?
45:28Bizarre.
45:30Going to bring in James, now you're going to bring in Deborah, you know?
45:33It's a very hard decision to make, Sir Alan.
45:37Yeah, well...
45:38And I think you'd better have good reasons to why you brought me...
45:40Right, well, well, hold on, hold on, hold on.
45:43You've got time enough to explain that,
45:45so go and wait out there,
45:47and I'll be calling you back shortly,
45:48where one of you will get fired.
45:59He was subdued from the start of the day,
46:02and it lasted all day.
46:04Big surprise for me.
46:05He'd lost all his fighting spirit.
46:07What's the wrong?
46:08This is the chap that got a scholarship to Santos
46:09for his leadership qualities.
46:11He didn't actually go there, though, did he?
46:13Well, no.
46:16The two things that let them down
46:18were the bike sale and the skeleton sale.
46:21Absolutely.
46:22Look who's responsible for that.
46:30Hello.
46:31Okay, send the three of them in, please.
46:33Yes, Alan.
46:35Sir Alan's ready for you now.
46:36Ben, you started off firing on all cylinders.
46:59To me, you look like a defeated man today.
47:01I'm not a defeated man,
47:02and I have no intention of going home today, Sir Alan.
47:05I actually have the potential to win this competition.
47:08I can win it.
47:09The man to the left of me,
47:10I do not feel has those raw skills
47:12to win this competition.
47:14This lady to the right of me,
47:16I'm still speaking.
47:17Yeah, you're talking about some crap.
47:18Could you just let me finish?
47:19No, no, no, no, no.
47:19You don't.
47:20When you managed your task,
47:21you made a complete...
47:21Hang on, this is not a task at the moment.
47:23And the only reason that you wanted...
47:25I'm in the balls of my task?
47:25Yeah, and the only reason...
47:26You weren't even in my task.
47:27Be quiet.
47:28Be quiet until I finish.
47:29The only reason that you wanted that task...
47:31Ben, I've only worked with him three times.
47:33Yeah, and those three times you haven't shown me
47:35that you have the potential...
47:36Show me?
47:36Show me?
47:37Show me?
47:37One at a time.
47:39I will tell you why you brought me this board...
47:41No, no, no, just wait one second.
47:44You'll get your time, I promise you.
47:46Have you finished?
47:47Yes.
47:48Right, I'll tell you why you brought me this boardroom,
47:49because I had the balls, okay,
47:51when all of us here, all five of us sat here,
47:53to say that this was a flawed strategy,
47:56right from the start,
47:56the fact that we took on too many products.
47:58Nobody else spoke up,
47:59and I'll tell you why they didn't speak up,
48:00because they're all sitting there,
48:02shitting it, thinking,
48:03well, if I speak up against this,
48:05or if I say this is where we went wrong,
48:06potentially I could be in the bottom three,
48:08was I responsible for the failure of this task?
48:11Was I?
48:11Neural, Neural,
48:12given that you were in my company along the way.
48:14That's the point.
48:15Neural, I made it very clear
48:16what our strategy was going to be at that stage.
48:18Ben, would you let me finish?
48:20Would you let me finish?
48:20Would you let me finish?
48:22And my strategy was very clear.
48:24I've put my hands up.
48:25Can we honestly be quiet without being corrosive,
48:29without getting on people's nerves during the day?
48:32I'm just being honest, Ben.
48:33I think, let's be honest,
48:34you thought the books were rubbish,
48:36we then went to Charing Cross,
48:37we got the books sorted.
48:39Let me know.
48:39Yeah, I will let you know.
48:41Okay, Ben.
48:41And on that,
48:42you were extremely rude to people.
48:43Ben, Ben.
48:44What do you want to say?
48:46Me?
48:46Yeah.
48:47You were, unfortunately,
48:48a shoddy project manager,
48:50you did not delegate to anybody.
48:51Well, was there any need for you on the way home
48:54to start being corrosive?
48:55Corrosive?
48:56The difference between being corrosive
48:57and being honest, mate,
48:57there's a massive, massive difference.
49:00We're on our way, we're on our way back.
49:00I'm honest about the fact
49:01that you let a team go for 30% of the stock
49:04and left us with 70%.
49:05What's that got to do with it?
49:06It's got a massive amount to do with it
49:08because you couldn't freaking get rid of it.
49:09No, it wouldn't have made any difference
49:11if they'd have had it or whether we had it.
49:12It would have, Ben.
49:12It would have.
49:13It would have.
49:14And the fact you can't see that
49:16is a massive issue.
49:16Jesus, you two do a lot of shodding.
49:18Yeah, because you are.
49:19The task was lost on costs
49:21or on pricing.
49:23Ben, Ben, Ben, Ben.
49:25Yes, sir, I have.
49:26And I don't want any interruption from anyone else.
49:29You'll all get your time to speak.
49:31Why have you brought her into here?
49:32I think the reason I picked Deborah
49:34is that Deborah had been so rude
49:36about the book people
49:37that I actually had to take this into...
49:40I don't think it's a laughing matter.
49:41What did you call her when you left the bookshop?
49:44What did you call her?
49:44What did you call that woman
49:46when you left the bookshop?
49:47And what did you call book people all day
49:49in front of me and Nerul?
49:50Just if you're going to go down that whole alleyway,
49:52what did you call her?
49:53I don't know what I called her.
49:55Right, well, I didn't mean you were all guilty of the word.
49:57Right, Ben, Ben, no, no, no.
49:59Ben, you're lying in your face with me.
50:01I thought I was allowed to speak about this.
50:03OK, OK, OK, OK, OK.
50:06I want to know why you think, Nerul,
50:09you are not responsible for the failure of this task.
50:12See, I'll tell you something, right?
50:14I'm worried about you.
50:16And I have been worried about you.
50:18I expressed it even in the task
50:20that your team won that time.
50:21I think you knew, you got some kind of body language from me
50:24that although you won,
50:25I didn't think that you actually was the one
50:28that made the team win.
50:30And so why shouldn't I fire you then?
50:32Well, the fact that I sold three items.
50:34I sold the bike, I sold the children's book,
50:36and I sold the skeleton.
50:37You sold the skeleton and the bike lower
50:39than anybody else in this whole process.
50:41Ben didn't actually do anything.
50:43Do you think it's time for him to go?
50:44I do, I certainly do.
50:45You've seen that Ben is very volatile.
50:47The fact that he doesn't let anybody speak,
50:48he comes across as rude,
50:49comes across as arrogant, okay?
50:51And that's the bottom line of Ben.
50:52I know, I have noticed that he talks down to so many people,
50:55I'm getting a rick in my neck looking up.
50:57You know, I'm not, you know,
50:58my vocal cords aren't loud as Ben,
50:59but I will know when to shut up,
51:01but I also know when to defend myself,
51:02when anybody would lie to.
51:04Deborah, who do you think I should fire for this task?
51:06Part of me thinks Ben was an absolutely shoddy project manager,
51:09and I don't see him being able to lead a team of people.
51:12He just kind of crumbles,
51:13and everyone else has got to try and help him along the way,
51:15which then puts you in the firing line
51:17if you do bother to help him.
51:19Okay.
51:20Ben, who should I fire, then?
51:22Neural.
51:23Your reason being?
51:25I think you've sat on the fence throughout the competition.
51:28When I was really on 2-2, I saw one.
51:29Don't ask a question if you're not going to let me answer it.
51:32I think you've sat on the fence throughout the competition.
51:34I think that I'm...
51:36Think.
51:37There's a difference between thinking and knowing something that's factual.
51:39Just let me finish.
51:40Just let me finish.
51:41Well, speak properly and justify your reasons.
51:44I'm justifying my reasons.
51:45You're not. You're thinking things.
51:46Neural, you have sat on the...
51:47The fucking thing that's coming into your brain, you're thinking things.
51:48I'll ask him a question, Neural.
51:50Let him answer.
51:50Neural, I think you've sat on the fence throughout the competition.
51:54I think you've been a passenger in most tasks.
51:56I don't think you're particularly strong all round.
51:59I don't think you should...
52:00You're getting round to doing my job for me again, Ben.
52:02I'm not interested in that.
52:03Sorry.
52:05Well, those are the main reasons that I think Neural should be fired.
52:08Ben, it don't look too great for you.
52:12As the team leader, I'm going to afford you one more privilege, OK?
52:16Because, you know, word gets round quickly in this place here.
52:19There's a taxi driver outside already typing your address in his sat-nav.
52:23Why shouldn't I fire you?
52:24Sir Alan, I've got so much to offer you.
52:27I really have got the raw business talent to be your next apprentice.
52:31I've shown that I'm an absolute grafter.
52:32I've got grafter going down here, like grafter, yeah.
52:37Yeah, I'm a real grafter.
52:38I'll get my hands dirty.
52:40I've shown that I'm very good at sales.
52:42Sales, yeah.
52:43Yeah, I sold very well.
52:45I've shown that I'm a good team leader,
52:47even if this has been turned around on me now.
52:50Good team leader, yeah.
52:52And I'm really, really good at it.
52:54And I really do...
52:55I can win this competition, Sir Alan.
52:57Sir, can I just make one point?
52:59And I think you also need to know,
53:02ever since we've been into the penthouse, okay,
53:04Ben, all you've done is talk about,
53:06ooh, I wonder what magazine deals I can do.
53:08I wonder what I can...
53:08No, I certainly haven't.
53:09And that's a really unfair thing to bring out.
53:12A really unfair thing to bring out.
53:14Because I've always said throughout this process,
53:15and fame is an unwanted byproduct of this,
53:18and I've just made jokes about it,
53:20and I certainly haven't.
53:21It's so annoying to hear...
53:22No, absolutely not.
53:23I'm a very proud person.
53:24Maybe your interest lies in somewhere
53:25where maybe, you know,
53:27you could take your top off
53:28and show up for the rugby ball or something.
53:30Those are the signs of a desperate man.
53:34Desperate?
53:34That's desperation.
53:35Ben, I'm being factual.
53:36Okay, I don't want to hear from anybody else now,
53:39because I'm going to summarise
53:40because I think I've heard enough.
53:44Ben, I'm worried you're a broken man.
53:48I'm not.
53:48I said I don't want to hear anything.
53:50Ben, I'm worried you're a broken man because of your age.
53:54I'm worried that you've made a bit off more than you can chew.
54:01Noorl, with all due respect,
54:03I think you've been a bit lucky sometimes,
54:05and some of your colleagues in the penthouse have stated
54:08and have actually been outraged by the fact
54:12that you weren't brought into the boardroom
54:14on many occasions when they were.
54:18It's been a difficult decision.
54:20And I take the last six weeks into account.
54:25Deborah, I cannot put up with someone with a mouth like yours.
54:30I certainly don't like the way
54:32that I've been told you speak to people
54:34as if you're something special.
54:36Trust me, love, you're not something special.
54:43But Noorl, I don't know what you've been doing here.
54:47I think you have escaped the radar.
54:49You're fired.
54:52Thanks for the opportunity.
55:05You ever open a mouth like that again?
55:07Don't even bother to come back in this boardroom.
55:10You got me?
55:10Yes, Your Honor.
55:11OK, off you go, back to the penthouse.
55:29Well, I've got this feeling about Noorl, really.
55:32I didn't see much from him in the past six weeks.
55:35All I can say is that whoever employs him
55:38better get a receipt.
55:40I certainly think Soran did fire the wrong person.
56:03Ben is such a hothead.
56:04He lied throughout.
56:06The fact that I spoke out against him
56:08when we were all five of us in there
56:10probably was what led to my downfall.
56:16I think it's going to be a shock departure tonight.
56:20Who do you think it's going to be?
56:20So who is it going to be?
56:21You just said you're finished.
56:22Yeah.
56:23I don't know how do you get good, Sandra.
56:25She's Cassandra, guys, so she might.
56:27I think, I think, Debra will go.
56:37In reality, yeah, I think I could be Ben.
56:40Nah.
56:41Wow.
56:42Interesting when they come in, then.
56:43This is the first time, what?
56:45No, no, Mrs. Night.
56:46Split three, right?
56:46And that's, that's testament to how difficult the task was.
56:49Ben and Debra!
56:51Oh, thank you.
56:54Well done.
56:57You come in here and you go on about,
57:00I'm strong, I can fight anyone,
57:02get rid of the weakest thing.
57:03What was it the other day?
57:04Put everyone out of their misery.
57:05It's a big fight, blah, blah, blah.
57:07And in reality, you showed there
57:09that you were totally spineless
57:10and you shat your pants.
57:13One job.
57:16Now nine candidates.
57:19Sir Alan's search for his apprentice continues.
57:25Next time.
57:26He's back, he's back.
57:27The candidates get packing.
57:29I'm back my sunglasses just in case.
57:31Then up north to get cracking.
57:33So much for selling olive oil and balsamic vinegar in Italy.
57:36To break new products.
57:39We can walk hand in hand.
57:41We can walk.
57:42Oh.
57:42Coddling.
57:43For me, that product's embarrassing.
57:45Into some old markets.
57:46Do you expect us to sell 400 of those a week?
57:49I believe you would do.
57:50Disagree with us.
57:51Can we get the price down a little bit more?
57:53Can you increase the quantity a bit more?
57:55Sir, this time he didn't escape the radar.
58:00Take an extended taxi drive with Norrell.
58:03Just head to The Apprentice website.
58:05And he's having to sell himself on BBC Two now.
58:08Was he to blame?
58:09Join Adrian Childs for The Apprentice.
58:11You're fired.
58:12And you can put your own questions too.
58:14Norrell is joining Victoria Derbyshire on Radio 5 Live tomorrow morning from 10.
