00:00German football club Borussia Dortmund launched their Caribbean branch in TNT on the weekend.
00:05They've done so through their affiliate, Cooper's Football Academy.
00:09Owner of the academy, Damien Cooper, explains how they joined forces.
00:13And then I heard an interview with Andrew Lawrence and he indicated that part of their
00:19strategy or their policy or their methodology is to partner with local academies.
00:26So I reached out to him and I said, you know, I'd like to have a conversation.
00:30Because, of course, I have my academy and what I heard about BVB seemed very much aligned
00:36to what I was doing at Cooper's Coaching Academy.
00:40So I reached out to him and we had a first conversation.
00:43He started his academy in 2014 with the aim of developing holistic footballers.
00:48When I found out that I was the first academy to be the affiliate, I was super excited, right,
00:54because here I was building over the last 10 years and now an opportunity presented itself
01:01to partner with an international brand, right, not just an international brand,
01:05an international brand of such repute. So I was super excited.
01:10I actually had to kind of shake myself off to actually believe that it's happening.
01:15Registration is expected to kick off early September.
01:17Although we are based in Aranguels, we are making plans to move across to Cipriani.
01:23We were once at Cipriani and we moved back to Aranguels, but then we decided to move back to Cipriani.
01:30You know, so I was super excited for sure. In terms of our first session, so what we're going to do,
01:37we're going to use this period here between now and the start of the school term to put more things in place.
01:45So we're going to start our registration within the next coming week.
01:50The contract between the two parties is expected to run for three years.
01:53He indicated further details on registration will be done via their Facebook and Instagram pages.
