00:00The launch of the Diego Martin Corporation Borough Cup took place on Friday at Hague Street in Caranage.
00:04Those working behind the scenes were doing their part to ensure that things run properly
00:08so that everyone could be entertained through the beautiful game of football.
00:12This was the draw to decide which teams were to be placed in which of the two groups.
00:16Counselor for Chag Ramos, Point Commander Kevon Williams is one of the coordinators on the committee involved in the Borough Cup competition.
00:23So it's gonna run for eight weeks. It's gonna be an exciting eight weeks.
00:27It's going to be two groups, two groups of five representing the ten districts.
00:32Our first group is Bamboo Cathedral, Group A, and our second group is Pyramid Lookout, Group B.
00:37So we expect to see some good sportsmanship, some good football, some good community spirit as the counselor said earlier.
00:44But most of all we want to make sure that the communities win and the sport win.
00:48With so many negatives affecting the people of TNT, there are those who see sport as a vehicle that provides some hope.
00:55Among them is Pitti Valley Co-Creed counselor Marcia Morslin.
00:58Our objective mainly is to curb crime, to bring communities closer, to get persons from that delinquent sort of behavior and that violent behavior.
01:09We're trying to tame the community and tame the whole atmosphere at this point in time.
01:15As you may have known, we have made some negative news and we are trying to curb that doing this initiative.
01:23In order to get the event officially started, Diego Martin Mayor Akila Glasgow Warner was the one to take the first kick.
01:29Then it was time to meet with the players with an exhibition match taking place on opening night.
01:34Regarding the prize money, Vice Chairman of the Sports Committee Damien Fournilier provided the details on it.
01:39I would like to share the exciting news of first prize $50,000, second prize $20,000, third prize $15,000.
01:50I'm so excited to see this 10 that's coming out here to support, to play together, to share the love.
