A teenage boy has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after he was allegedly stabbed at the final night of the Royal Darwin Show yesterday. Northern Territory Police have since arrested a 15-year-old boy in relation to the incident and charged him with recklessly endangering life and possessing a controlled weapon.

00:18place at about 8.20pm near one of the show rides. Paramedics took the 15 year old victim to Royal
00:24Darwin Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery for injuries to his neck and chest.
00:30Stallholders and parents who were at the showgrounds at the time of the stabbing say they were
00:34shocked by the level of violence at such a welcoming and positive community event. One stallholder said
00:39the incident took everyone by surprise and that he'd never seen anything like it in his 37 years
00:45selling show bags. The incident also prompted a social media post from Chief Minister Leo Fanocchiaro
00:50who condemned the use of violence and also flagged changes to the Youth Justice Act in Parliament
00:56this week to reverse what she called soft offender first policies under the previous Labor government.
01:02So while the Royal Darwin show has wrapped up for this year it's clear by the Chief Minister's
01:07statement that this incident will have political ramifications in the days ahead.
