A key focus of the Commission will be to investigate the high number of children missing from child safety placements as part of its broad remit.
00:10
The LNP government announced on Wednesday it will conduct an audit into how 800 children in care are self-placing across the state.
00:18
Self-placing essentially means they're leaving out of home care to stay elsewhere.
00:22
It may be with friends or some other family, but it could also be places that aren't safe.
00:26
Commissioner Paul Anastasia said the number of kids leaving placements was a matter of serious concern.
00:32
There are currently more than 12,500 children under state care through the foster, kinship or residential care system.
00:39
The Commission will also prioritise a review of the complaint system for carers and workers following an ABC investigation.
00:46
The inquiry will deliver its final report to the Queensland Government next November.
