Queensland Police are appealing for information after a teenage girl was killed in a hit-and-run north of Brisbane on Monday night.

00:00Well it's been absolutely devastating for the locals here in Brisbane's Bayside many
00:06know that this is quite a tight-knit community and they say that they're just absolutely
00:10heartbroken by the incident that unfolded late last night now emergency services were
00:15called out to this street Margate Parade in Margate about 40 minutes north of Brisbane
00:20CBD at about half past 11 last night to reports that a vehicle believed to be a white ute
00:27had struck and hit a 17 year old girl and when officers arrived here at the scene they
00:32found the teenager with life-threatening injuries immediately providing CPR assistance but sadly
00:38she passed away at the scene a short time later. Neighbours have come out and told the ABC
00:44that when they heard that loud thud late last night they immediately came out and provided
00:49assistance to the young girl they say that they were holding her hand and comforting her
00:54in her final moments. Being 17 just so young someone's daughter probably someone's sister
01:03someone's friend and she's not here anymore. Officers are still searching for the driver
01:09of that vehicle they're urging anyone with dash cam footage or CCTV footage either on Mabel Street
01:14or Margate Parade to come forward and provide assistance to police and contact them as soon
01:20as possible. They say that they're still investigating and trying to piece together the moments that led
01:25up to this incident and many neighbours that were helping the young girl at the time have told the ABC
01:31they're hoping that the family can have closure soon.
