00:11province. The deaths occurred during an armed attack against people practicing sports in a

00:17neighborhood field in the Leonidas Proaño Parish in what appeared to be an escalation in the

00:22actions of criminal groups. Earlier, two brothers were killed in the same circumstances in the

00:28municipality of Jaramillo. In this context, in the first four months of 2025, Ecuador reported more

00:34than 3,000 violent deaths, a figure that represents 58% more than in the period of 2024.
